I've been here twice now in two weeks and I have to say I really love the ambiance and quality of the food here. I've tried the chicken pie, sausage roll, HOG, and HBQ. The quality it is very consistent and you can tell they use fresh, quality ingredients. My first pie, the chicken, was so flaky, buttery, and tasty. And the sesame crust on the HBQ provides a nice earthy bite against the saltiness of the butter. One piece will run you about $10 but I would say it's worth it for the quality of these pies. I took my friend from Korea here so he could try American classic food like my grandma used to make. This place never disappoints and he absolutely loved it. The crusts are light, flaky and buttery. My favorite savory pies are the Aussie meat pie or the curry, but I don't think I've been disappointed in any of them. I don't love their egg/breakfast ones as much as their dinner ones, but I think that's more of a reflection of just HOW much I love their dinner ones. I also adore their corn and mashed potatoes - sometimes I'll order extra to have for a snack later. All the sweet pies have been great, they also usually have 2 rotating seasonal flavors that change like every 3-6 months. Maybe I read the description wrong because we expected fluffy scrambled eggs, and it came with hard-boiled eggs. Scrambled eggs are better and keep everything together. What an adorable little shop in the middle of a very traffic-laden street. Parking is a bit tough but worth it. We went in search of yummy dessert and found it. This cute place had all of our favorite things like ice cream, hand pies, and cookies! We opted for the Lemon Curd and Mixed Berry Handpie and a Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie. Both were divine. The Handpie had a delicious thick lemon curd glaze that was out of this world. We had the cookie heated up and it was full of chocolate chunks and tasted so good. I'm glad that this location opened up not too far from one of my work locations. I hadn't been to either of the other locations before, but I knew what it was. The pies are really good, definitely on the gourmet side. Much fancier than SD Chicken Pie Shop, lol. The flavor I was surprised by the most was the curried veggie pie! It was delicious, and you don't even miss the meat. The curry gives it tons of flavor. I ate half of the one I got and half of the potatoes, and ate the rest as leftovers for another meal. The chicken pie was also good, but I ended eating all of that as a dinner. It's traditional, in that it cones with the standard chicken pie veggies inside. It's a rainy day so we wanted a warm spot to hang out in Pacific Beach. Pop Pie Co. is the perfect spot for exactly that. My son and I shared a delicious chicken pot pie and a salted caramel apple pie a la mode, and ZOINKS!!!! It made us both so happy as we sat at the window, watching palm trees blow in the wind. My London Fog was delicious and featured the right amount of foam. The associates behind the counter were friendly and helpful, and the place is really inviting.
