Came here for lunch and got the Green hog and cheese savory pie. The crust was crisp and flaky. The filling was stuffed full with pork and green tomatillo based sauce, so maybe kinda like a chili verde but more shredded pork. Personally I wish there was more sauce and less meat, What less meat, who would ever say that.. I know, just my preference I guess.. I want to try some of their sweet pies next time maybe the coconut custard with salted caramel, ala mode of course. Sounds amazing! I like this new location it has it all, It has all the goodness of Pop Pie, Stella Jeans ice cream which they also own and a coffee shop; So they got it all covered. Welcome to Pacific Beach Pot Pie! As per usual, I'm so happy that you are expanding. This time around I had a slice of mushroom and leek quiche garnished with sun-dried tomatoes, and a traditional cortado. The quiche was quite good. The crust of quiche was amazingly crumbly and tasty. The quiche itself was very good. The egg portion was very fluffy, the mushrooms were tender, and the leeks, I was wanted more of them. The charred sun-dried tomatoes on top had a good chew and were tasty. The cortado was very good too. It was served in an appropriate glass cup, and made with that perfect 50/50 ratio. The cortado was smooth and rich and hit the spot. The space offers a good amount of inside and outside seating. There's also a Stella Jeans ice cream inside. This place has me sold! Visited with a girlfriend recently and loved it. I ordered the Green Hog and Cheese Pop Pie, which had braised pork shoulder and peppers, and the Mushroom and Leek Quiche. The case of pies and goodies looked all so good. It tasted great too. The Green Hog pie had a lot of flavor, tender pork, and nice crust. The quiche was just as good in my opinion. Those two items together were a perfect portion for me, not too light not too heavy. I will def come back! They even have goodies you can take home and bake mmmm. Service was super great from the gentleman during my visit. Not a very big shop but was able to snag a two top table. Next time I'll be back for the ice cream for sure! read more

We tried to like this place. We got the steak and ale pie. It was disappointing. The crust was somewhat-flakey and crunchy and warm from the warmer. The pie filling was dry and had unpleasant flavor... like a rehydrated camping food in the pouch. Maybe their dessert pies are better? Idk. We also tried their ice cream. They were unique and flavorful and I would get it again. I'm sad I couldn't like their savory pie. :( read more

I am a Pop Pie stan. Truly one of the best establishments in San Diego. On the savory end, I absolutely love the Aussie pie, a warm meat pie filled with ground beef and veggies. It is my favorite and I always stock up on a few for my freezer to bake at home. They have some delicious sweet treats as well. I love the guava cream cheese hand pie and the chocolate cookies! During Valentine's Day, I always try to make my way over for the ube hand pies that are absolutely supreme. The best thing about this Pop Pie location is that they also are serving their Stella Jean ice creams next door. There are always a rotation of seasonal flavors, but the ube and pandesal is a classic. There is parking next to this location and you can order ahead to make your trip quick! read more

I need to come back to try the savory pies. It is connected to Stella Jean's ice cream which has the most unique flavors. I enjoyed the seasonal peace pie. I have been here a few times this summer, and tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but after a few visits and no change I have to leave a review. This location is unbearably hot. I'm pretty sure they don't have AC or any cooling units. It's the middle of the summer... Only gave 2 stars because the staff was very welcoming. If the costumers are uncomfortable, I can't even imagine how the staff feels having to work under those conditions. I truly value supporting local businesses, and I love their curry pop pie, but I will not keep supporting a place that allows people and customers to be in uncomfortable conditions. read more

I've been to the Normal Heights location (which is great) and this location is great as well! We stopped by for 4th of July because I was craving pie. They had a vegan strawberry rhubarb and of course I got a la mode with vanilla. The pie had a delicious crumble, and the crust was light and flaky. It could have used a little more rhubarb flavor, but it was still very good - especially considering the fact that it was vegan! My hubby had the miso ice cream, which was also vegan and it was an interesting and delicious flavor combo! I was just visiting San Diego and planning to drive back to SF so I didn't want to buy too much food but my friend who was a local bought one of their pies and coffee. The owner was so nice and kept asking if we wanted to try ice cream flavors while my friend waited for her coffee. The flavors are so unique and I loved it! I tried: 1. Mango Sticky Rice: So delicious! Tasted just like the real thing with large chunks of mango and a coconut like ice cream. I could eat this all day. My friend ended up buying a pint. 2. Ube and toffee: Also really delicious! Had a big chunk of toffee in my taste! If you like a yellow curry samosa, you'll love the vegetable curry pot pie. Don't sleep on the breakfast pies and quiches. They are also excellent. I recommend getting 2-3 pies and splitting them between 2 people so you can try all of the different flavors. The pies cut well and they'll give you a knife to slice.
