I am sitting in Poppies right now. It is Sunday the 2nd of December2018. The server is the bartender. She is terrible. We were greeted but after that nothing for nearly 15 minutes. I had to go to the hostess stand to ask the host who, was texting on his phone, to get our server. She appeared then took our order. She finally got my daughter her cup of coffee. Then she came back around 10 minutes later saying she accidentally threw the napkin away that she wrote our order on. So almost 50 minutes plus and counting we still don't have our food. One current and two former servers are wondering why such a pathetic performance by the server/bartender is possible when the restaurant is not crowded. She has not even bothered to apologize. If she is overwhelmed it is a management issue. read more

Amazing location would never know such a gorgeous restaurant sits inside which are my favorite kind of secrets to look for. This place was amazing from our Wednesday specials the salmon piccata to the beef stroganoff to the salmon creek merlot we enjoyed everything the people the feel of the restaurant and the food of course. The interior is dated, but kind of cool. The have a piano in the bar, but no one was playing on a Tuesday evening. Dim lighting, quiet, older crowd that seemed to be regulars. I'd give them 4 or 5 stars for the unique ambience. The service wasn't good, but I think we got there when the server went home so the bartender waited on us. We were there for a long time, and I finally had to bring my check to the bar to pay. Kind of kills the classy vibe. I had wine and stuffed mushrooms. The mushrooms were not good. The seafood tasted like canned salmon (over cooked and bland) with nothing added to to it. You at least need herbs and cheese to make canned salmon work. The sauce looked like béchamel, but it tasted a bit like gravy (too floury). I went with a 50-something friend who hates health food. She loves this place, so I think that's the crowd they cater to. Denver has a million restaurants that suit my tastes: trendy atmosphere with unique, healthy ingredients; this friend doesn't seem to like any of them. If you're tired of the trendy Denver restaurant scene catering to us quinoa-eating hipsters, this place will probably feel like a breath of fresh air to you. read more

Ordered no onions; got onions. Ordered no cilantro, got cilantro. Ordered a drink, double, was charged for two tequila sunrises. Our orders were slow to come out then we had to wait again. I think I have driven by Poppies a couple hundred times over the years. Literally every single time I have driven by and noticed it, I thought "man, I should check that place out sometime". Finally had a chance to come in. This is a surprising joint: it was dark inside, dimly lit and seemingly old-school. Cool? Yeah, I'll go cool. Older look, and a damn piano being played by a well-dressed pianist. I think it felt pretty classy. Or at least trying to be. Let's cut to the chase. The staff was nice: polite, timely, professional, well-dressed to match a "classy" decor/vibe, and basically perfect. Good stuff. The beer was fine, I had a beer. I like beer. Beer was not expensive. BEER. The food was just...okay. They had some specials going, and I really wanted to try the schnitzel, but they were out of it. Bummer. Still on a hunt for that schnitzel. But the chicken was just okay. The pasta was just okay. The bread was hard, probably an extra day old. The strawberry balsamic ice cream was AMAZING though, what the heck? Where did that idea even come from? Whatever, wherever, it was seriously some of the best ice cream I have ever had in my life, period. Hell yes. I think it was a special or limited time only thing, but dammmmnnnn good. Long story short? Alright food, good service, nice ambiance, but nothing spectacular. Average at best. read more

"Phwoah, that steamed carrot was a bit spicy for me." If this utterance of Hubert J Farnsworth sounds like something you'd say, then perhaps this place is for you... well, if you can handle a few other things. The atmosphere is a bit bizarre, trying to be several things at once: part gloomy sports bar, part retirement home, part crappy piano bar all clothed in dark wood panelling and dingy brass that smacks of "cheap" while trying to be someone's idea of "fancy". Despite all of this, it does succeed at being one thing: horrible. The food is bland palp, I've been here a few times and the chicken tenders always taste like they are fried in old oil (mmm, fishy chicken, just the way grandma used to make it and I used to throw up behind her chesterfield), the nachos are covered in stringy, oily cheese, and the burgers are gray globs of meat like product that came from a freezer. The service is another interesting proposition: most of the female staff in the bar area seem good, but if you stay late you will witness a few "interesting" things. For one, the owner is a racist drunk who gets wound up after drinking what seems like an endless stream of Heineken (if someone told him the Dutch have legal gay marriages maybe he'd switch to something else). As he starts to slur his words he tends to insult people with the sort of colorful language you'd expect from a redneck... thirty years ago. Then there is one male bartender who drinks himself into such a stupor that when I've come by at nine he just sort of stands around, staring off into space and swaying drunkenly while the other staff take care of customers. All that is to say that the food is crap, the service is crazy, the drinks are okay (a pretty limited whiskey selection though), but if you can put up with all that it may at least be entertaining. Then again, I don't want to give the owner any of my money. I think I'd rather set it on fire in the street. read more

My husband and I were visiting Denver and stumbled across Poppies after driving through some of the beautiful neighborhoods in the area of the restaurant. I did a quick search of "good American food near me" and Poppies came up. After pulling into the parking lot, we were a bit skeptical of the strip mall joint... but I am SO glad we stopped in. Once inside, I was surprised - Poppies was dimly lit and had cozy decor... definitely "traditional" - but inviting. There was a beautiful piano as soon as you walked in, and an impressive bar. The strip mall exterior is definitely deceiving. I didn't feel out of place in my casual clothes, but I also would not have felt out of place in a dress and heels for date night. Our server, Marquette, was an absolute delight. My husband ordered a porter and I ordered a margarita (in hindsight, I wish I would have glanced over the wine list first), and both were delicious. At Marquette's suggestion, I ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel, which was on the Saturday night specialty menu, and I have to say that it was the BEST schnitzel I've ever eaten (even better than the schnitzel I've had in Germany...) - the mushroom sauce was wonderfully sweet and the red cabbage paired perfectly with it... If you're not a cabbage fan, at least give this a try! My husband also took Marquette's suggestion and ordered the half rack of ribs. The bbq sauce and ribs got a Texan seal of approval. We both left miserably full - unfortunately with no room for the delicious-looking desserts. When we come back to Denver, we will DEFINITELY be paying this wonderful spot another visit. read more

One word comes to mind when I think about what to write in this review...OLD, not old school, just old. Old people, old drab decor, old style of cooking. There is a bar area, a formal dining room straight out of great grandma's house, a dark dingy back room, and an area I guess that's supposed to be like a a piano bar. But there was for sure, a general theme throughout- you guessed it-old! And here's another word Sysco-the truck's parked out back. The food seems frozen, far from fresh and overpriced. The stuffed mushroom appetizer was the best out of the meals I've had here. The wings were alright too. Sandwiches, salads, entrees-not impressed at all. The food was bland, stale, and boring. And slow, I guess that just goes hand in hand with old. Our service was so slow, and the food took a long time to come out. We had to wait more than once for a good time with empty water cups and beer bottles. I've been here twice and wasn't impressed at all either time. Tonight our monthly work supervision meeting ended pleasantly in a group dinner at Poppies. There were 8 of us. I didn't notice what everyone got, but can speak of my meal and the few people sitting nearby my end of the table. Decent selection of both vegetarian and meaty Mexican dishes. And also a varied menu of seafood, chicken, and beef dishes. All that I saw looked and smelled yummy. The Fajitas that one of our group got were huge and reasonably priced. All of the plates involved in the Fajitas filled up practically 1/3 of the table. I tried the guac and it was excellent. Even the red salsa is homemade, and quite tasty. What I ordered was the salmon dinner. I order salmon a lot of the time when I dine out. I'm a bit boring that way. It was a generous and perfectly cooked fillet and I chose a baked potato to accompany it. The baked potato was done just how I like them with a nice crusty yet edible skin and tender inside. The veggies were a standard restaurant dinner mix, with fresh cut carrots rather than frozen, green beans, cauliflower, and yellow squash. Several people at the other table got beef entrees and seemed happy with them. Some of us ordered alcohol although as Yelpers know I choose not to drink alcohol and don't much delineate one drink from another when it comes to alcohol. It seemed to make them happy, and that's really what counts. A few people had desserts, and those disappeared fast. I tasted the carrot cake and it was pretty decent. The white chocolate lime cheesecake looked good too. The atmosphere is very, well, poppy-coloured. So relaxing a few of us almost started falling asleep when we first got there. Our waitpeople were very cordial and efficient. What I liked most is that they were a bit older and not the young high school and college people who work at many restaurants these days. I suppose that's partly though because I'm a bit older myself (o: I didn't really find anything too wrong with Poppies and found a lot right with it. This is one of the worst places I've ever dined in. The service is horrible - I mean it's beyond bad, it's actually mean. I took my mother there for dinner and the waiter was obnoxious. He was so rude to her, I actually got really angry. We walked out before ordering. On the way out, I told the hostess that the waiter was rude, insensitive, and obnoxious. He belittled an elderly woman for simply asking about specials and wine selections. He then got angry at her for her chair being too close to another table and he couldn't get between the two. I'll never walk in there again. I would give no stars, but Yelp doesn't allow it. read more

Lousy prime rib. Not a drop of juice and I ordered it rare. I know rare prime rib has a cool center, but this was practically out of the walk-in. Cold all around the edges. Not just room temperature, but cold. Corn on the cob was gluey, but I ate it all because I couldn't choke down the dry saw-dusty prime rib. I ordered some bread so I wouldn't leave hungry. The wine prices are very reasonable. The margarita was pretty good. The service is so slow I don't think I'll have time for dessert. Oh well. I ate at the bar. Bartender started off friendly and the place was busy so I was okay with the slow service because she was running around. But it wasn't fun to listening her and the other bartender complaining about people not making reservations and throwing stuff around because the sour mix container was empty. Now that it has eased up I expected her to check with me...she hasn't. My water glasses have been empty for 20. I have it 2 stars because I used to like this place. So I walk in to this little restaurant, Poppies, in a run down strip mall on Colorado blvd... Upon entering, I had thought I just stepped into a Delorean equipped with a flux capacitor and was transported to sometime in the early 80's. I mean even their customers looked like they never left the 80's. Even saw a fanny pack as I was brought to my table. Scared of what I might have gotten myself into I rushed to order off of their specials menu. Prime rib Med Rare. I had no idea that I was about to eat THEEEE BEST PRIME RIB IN COLORADO!!! I mean HOLYSHIT if I was in a darker corner I would have asked for a straw for the Au jus. The whole meal was perfection, not to mention the service was second to none! The decor, very very outdated. I've only been in town since September 2011, but I've driven up and down Colorado Blvd countless times. Every time I'd drive past Poppie's I'd think "I want to try that place." I convinced my boyfriend to go with me last Friday 12/16 for dinner. Then I read the reviews. Wow, were they horrible reviews. But, we'd already decided to go. I will say that the decor is wanting. The place does seem confused as to what style it really is. It's very mauve, red, and beige. But it was also decorated for Christmas and packed, so there was a festive air. It really is like a piano lounge in the front area, complete with a man playing and singing at the piano (points for reading his music off an iPad). We were told there would be a 20 mt wait for a table (they don't take reservations), or we could sit at the "piano bar", which would mean the four stools around the piano. Um, no thanks. We squished in at the packed bar and ordered drinks. The dirty martini I had was excellent. When we were handed our drinks we were told our table was ready. It took MUCH less than 20 mts. We were shown to a side dining room, that apparently is soundproof. It was like passing through the doorway cut off all festive sound from the other room and we were in a very quiet library-like setting. We were given a table for two with tall, wing back chairs on wheels. It was a bit like being in a nursing home, since the majority of the clientele was 80+. (That was fine, it gave us some good conversations to listen to.) Decor aside, our waiter was friendly (ask for Dave) and knowledgeable. He made good recommendations and even recommended against a few dishes. I ordered half-rack of ribs, my boyfriend ordered the fish-n-chips. My food, honestly, was very good. The ribs were tender, the sauce was tangy, and the beans had bacon in them. I had not ordered the col slaw but they served it anyhow, and I liked it. Our food was fast, served hot, and tasty. I have no complaints, especially at $11.99 for my dinner. It was a lot of food. Over all, I'd say this place is confused about its style. But, the staff was friendly, the bartender (female) made a great martini, and my food tasted good. Oh, and the prices are appropriate. Give the place a try, if you haven't already. read more

Poppies has been around a long time, and is a "stable" in the area. Menu - varied: appetizers, breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts. Interior - dark, so be warned that when you walk in from the outside, it will take a few minutes for your eyes to adjust. As I said, this place has been around for a long time, so some updating would be nice. Bar - there is a rather large bar shortly inside the front door. Every time we've been there, there are been plenty of people sitting on the bar stools, enjoying drinks and conversation. There is also a piano, and a gentlemen was playing it the last time we were there. Seating - plenty of it. I like their tables that have the two comfortable wing-backed type chairs for seating. You feel like you are at home eating, but someone is there waiting on you - nice idea! Service - good, but it can be slow at times. Prices - good, but some of the items can be expensive. Parking - there is a parking lot, as this restaurant is in a strip mall on the the east side of Colorado Blvd, so they are sharing the parking lot with other businesses. This place cracks me up. It's a decent size restaurant bar tucked away in a strip mall along Colorado Blvd. From the road, it looks like nothing, and no normal person would ever think to stop in there on a whim. Once you do get in, it's sort of surprising how nice it is. Sort of. It's not fancy shmancy or anything, but it's definitely not a dive. I'd say it's a old person's idea of nice, you know, brass and dark wood everywhere, cloth napkins, a piano. Their food isn't half bad: they have big steaks, salads, a couple of mexican offerings, and a good sized wine list. What gets me every time are the customers. Poppies is patronized almost exclusively by people having extra-marital affairs. No really, I swear. Go see for yourself. It's crawling with highlands ranchers, who (I assume) not wanting to take any chances on being spotted by someone they know, have flocked to the most unpretentious location possible, a neighborhood bar that's really near nothing, but happens to be not too far out of the way of the commute from downtown Denver back to the southern 'burbs. The only people not having affairs in this place is the army of senior citizens that flock here for late dinner (4pm), and will never tell on those naughty naughty cheaters. In conclusion, come here with either your mistress or your grandma. read more

Sommer is the best bartenter/ server this place has. Full of regulars. Great prices on booze and food. Fridays and Saturdays they have a piano player and singer. Sunday mornings for brunch is also delicious. They have 3 big screen TVs perfect for watching the games. Definetly check this place out. Its kind of a hidden gem. read more

Poppies Restaurant - Mimosa i think yes! - American Near Me - Denver, Colorado

I am so disappointed with this restaurant! I have been there 3 times- The first time I was very impressed with the food and the service. The last two times the service was absolutely horrible. The second time it took two of us over three hours there- Not because we were chatting, but because the service was SO SLOW. It was a Tuesday night and it was not that busy, but the wait times between ordering and actually getting our drinks and food was so long, It took 45 minutes for our food to come out, and all we ordered were SALADS!! Then another 30-40 minutes after we were finished eating to get our table cleared and a check, then 20 minutes to get the receipt back so we could sign it. Thinking it might have been a fluke, we tried again last night and ended up not ordering at all- 3 people and we were there an hour just trying to get cocktails. After this last experience I won't be back, especially since I was not able to get a manager on the phone or in the restaurant to talk to about the awful service we received. Have been coming to Poppies for a few years now. Love the bar and ambiance. Let me start with the Pros: Summer the bartender is fabulous she's the main reason we come, she makes the best Brandy Alexander's. Their Chicken Fried Steak is the bomb, reminds me of what my mom made. Their Hamburger and French fries are some of the best we've had. Cons: Mexican food is not good, stick with the American food. This place is okay as a last minute eatery. The atmosphere is that of a sports bar crossed with a retirement home. There's just way too many old people here and every t.v. in this joint featured one sport: Golf. I could feel my youth being sucked out of me throughout the entire meal. We ordered the potato skins for the appetizer, prime rib and crab for me, and sirloin medallions on a bed of cranberry dressing for dinner mate. The potato skins were quite large, but lacking in toppings. My prime rib came with a small cup of horseradish dip and a small cup of au jus. Both went very well with the meat. The crab was a tad disappointing. Kind of dry in texture, it tasted like it was thawed out in a microwave. It had to be resuscitated in butter to make it edible. My dinner mate did not care for his sirloin. He felt it had too much of a charred taste to it. I thought it tasted just fine. Our waitress was friendly, but she was slow and didn't pay attention to clearing plates or refilling drinks in a timely manner. She also tried to charge us the split plate fee because I kept asking my dinner mate for his opinion while I was ordering my meal. I had to explain to her that we are ordering two separate entrees and we might sample each other's food, but we're not splitting plates. The bill itself was quite expensive. The tab was about $70.00 without tip. I've definitely had better for less. I can't say if I'd ever come back here on purpose. Maybe as a last minute dining spot again, but I wouldn't make plans to come here. Not a horrible place, but everything was just meh. read more

Wow. How did you get crab cakes to taste like that? It seems like it would be much easier just to make a straightforward crab cake than to infuse it with the essence of garbage. Avoid the crab cakes benedict at all costs. On another occasion having ordered a prime rib sandwich, I was served a piece of prime rib with grill lines on it. I am sorry but prime rib is not grilled, UNLESS you are serving old prime rib and that is the way you heat it up. My suggestion is that they get on the blower to Gordon Ramsay STAT! The front of the house is just fine. The problem is in the kitchen. People notice when you cut corners and they wont be back. read more

On my most recent trip to Denver, 5 of us decided to have dinner at Poppies. The interior is, as others described, very outdated and in great need of a visit from Robert Irvine of Restaurant Impossible. If you can get past the interior and mostly elderly crowd, it's not so bad. Three of us ordered burgers, another a salad and another the prime rib. They have a pretty good drink menu with a variety of wines, drafts and frozen drinks. I enjoyed my guacamole burger with bacon and cheese. My sister really liked the fries (similar to the fry gods of Micky D's). Decent food and friendly service, but not much if you are looking for a trendy atmosphere or any unique meal offerings. read more

Tonight was maybe the seventh time I'd been to Poppies. I'd figured out in the past that the steaks, prime rib and burgers were the best items on their menu. I'm not overly picky when it comes to steaks... season the steak, cook it to the right temperature... I'm happy. And I'm generally pretty happy with the service in most restaurants. But tonight was the worst, worst service I've ever experienced in my life. It took ten minutes for our drinks to arrive, and we're ready to order. Our waitress says "I'll be right back" and she disappears for 15 mins. By the time she decides to come back, I've already told the hostess that we're leaving and need our check. When she comes back, she makes no apology for disapearing and gives me attitude over wanting to leave. I was furious. Never, never again. They charged me $13 for a cocktail and a glass of wine that I left sitting on the table. read more

My boyfriend and I live in the area so we finally checked this place out last night and were pleasantly surprised! The decor was a little dated but unique. They were super busy but we had reservations. If you didn't have reservations you could grab a drink at the full bar (busy) and listen to the live piano entertainment while you wait. They also had a couple of flat screens at the bar. I ordered the chicken fajitas and my boyfriend ordered the chicken Parmesan, both of which were delicious! We also each had a drink and our total was around $50 with tip. They have a wide variety of choices on the menu and their brunch menu looks great! My only reason for not giving it 5-stars is our waitress. She was pretty non attentive and I felt like we were annoying her. Overall, we will go back! Mom and dad can't stand the pretentious nature that seems to plague damn good restaurants. Always on a quest to deliver them a solid experience, I gave Poppies a shot. As a Denver native, this place is a staple I've driven by a thousand times never giving the strip-mallesque establishment a second thought-but my honey wanted to go after hearing the ribs are delicious. The place is larger than you would expect and yes the decor is dated, but clean, and rather than change it I felt as though I stepped right into history --and I loved it. Perfect for mom and dad, the food is simple and tasty, the wine list offers decent options, there is an extensive menu, and our server, Molly, exhibited humor and delivered flawless service. A solid experience, and a new found favorite for mom and dad-I can't wait to bring them here. read more

Quaint little nondescript restaurant stuck in a strip mall. Been here for 40 plus years. I'm from out of state and asked a local how their dinner was as we walked in. They were right this is where the locals eat. I had the standing prime rib roast special medium rare and it was great. My friend had chicken fajitas, very good as well. I had another place in mind for dinner. I usually dine alone, and so I tend to sit at the bar and eat. But, my original destination did not have a bar (really)?? So right around the corner was Poppies. I had been here a number of times for lunch, but never for dinner. There is no doubt that Poppies will become a "go to" place. This is a place for mature adults who want a great meal, at a reasonable price in an intimate atmosphere. Dark, quiet and comfortable is how I would describe the ambiance. A vocalist playing the piano was perfect. Chairs in the bar are comfortable, and the booths are big enough to comfortably seat four adults. I had a Cesar salad with the Mussels. While neither had enough garlic for me, I am sure that most patrons would find them perfect. I really like garlic. The Mussels came in a white wine sauce with cream. It was really tasty, but had too much cream for a guy with heart disease. So, aside from not being the healthiest choice, they've reversely good. Generally speaking the crowd was 40's to 70's. Probably early 50's was the median. If you value a meal that is satisfied your palate, is fairly price and where you can actually hear the person across from you, I believe that you will enjoy this experience read more

If your in your later life and happened to find this nice little restaurant congratulations! The ambience in this place was not what I expected at all. I mean this in a good way. If this restaurant was in a different local (away from the hookah lounges and India/Middle East row of restaurants it might do really good. The older folks seem to love the food here which is very traditional steak, mashers and veggies. On the other hand they took it even further to add a Mexican menus as well. I'm my opinion their Mexican was better! All in al, service was great and inside decor and ambience was good. Food, however, could use some work. 3 stars due to lack of consistency on menu and location. On a positive note, if your group can never agree on one specific type of food, then this will satisfy all. Maybe. Positive for service and once inside you actually forget that you just walked into a strip mall dominated by hookah bars, middle eastern restaurants and a Dairy Queen. read more

Great food and service but stay away if you don't like the elderly. This place is CRAWLING with geezers. The local retirement home actually loads up several repurposed school busses with their residents and ferries them over in groups of about 20-25 for nightly feasts. Once, I got trapped in the bathroom by several crusty old chaps looking for hemorrhoid cream. Luckily the restroom has a small window that I barely managed to shimmy out of. Lost a shoe in the process, but at least I kept my dignity. This establishment serves tasty classic dishes from ribs to chimichangas, but be warned: venturing into this restaurant is only recommended for those willing to face ancient danger. read more

Mouthwatering Prime Rib First of all who ever took the pictures must have really had a Bad Experience! I may be bias because I'm a U-Hills neighbor! But I Love this place! Sure you may have a waitress having a rough one,but they've always been pleasant and most accommodating solving any of my minor discrepancies! Such as my dining guest ordered a 14oz.cut of succulent Prime Rib at medium-rare but a little too rare for her within no time they salamanderd that baby to perfection! We arrived early as they serve the "Specialty" menu at 5pm daily,so we shared a delicious order of stuffed caps with a nice seafood stuffing! They quickly seated our party of 8 for lunch. Service was very friendly and easily handled the many special requests from the divas in our group. Salads were huge and pretty tasty. Chipotle turkey wrap was very good. Onion rings were okay. Bloody Mary nice and spicy. Basic wine and beer selection. Went here with a colleague and a client for a business lunch. Nice, variable menu with a lot of offerings. We were sat quickly, our server was very attentive and kept our drinks full at all times and accommodated my special order requests. I had a salad with blackened salmon and it was good. Dressed perfectly and the salmon cooked expertly. Everyone in my party seemed to enjoy their meals as well, no complaints and every dish was clean at the end of the meal. First off, the inside of this place is surprisingly nice on the inside. For being in a dumpy strip mall it almost made me feel uncomfortable that I was in a t-shirt and shorts. Second, the main courses Salmon, and Ribs were great. Finally what makes this a low scoring place for me is the sides and the service. Our waitress couldn't remember what my wife was drinking even though I told her "Iced Tea" three times. Once she even brought soda water and handed it to me. Then she brought the salmon out with rice instead of a baked potato. The sides were lackluster. My baked beans were good but no different than what you would get out of a can, and my coleslaw tasted like it had flour in it. The rice pilaf was tasteless and the steamed veggies could have used some spicing of some sort. It was decent but I love sides and with out a good contrasting flavor a full rack of ribs just isn't as awesome. read more

This is my family's favorite neighborhood restaurant. We love the comfortable and classic atmosphere. While the food is pretty average outside of the daily specials, which are usually excellent, Poppies feels like home. We always see familiar faces. If you go, grab a booth by the piano! My husband and I first went to Poppies about four years ago - before the smoking ban was enacted. Wheeew! Man - Poppies was like the penny slot section of Lodge Casino up in Black Hawk. Also, the clientele's age suggested that perhaps a bus load of senior gamblers had been dropped off for dinner as well. Since we drive past Poppies on our way to work and back we often joked about going back to see if it had gotten any better. Well - we finally did. With the ability to breathe much improved Poppies was much more bearable. Reviewing the menu, (we didn't eat there) it indicated 'standard American' selections - steak, salads and some Mexican entrees as well. My husband said the food 'didn't look too bad'. There were quite a few people in the restaurant itself. We chose to sit in the front area of the lounge - two of us in old style wheel-y old people Olive Garden chairs and two of us on the Official Lounge Couch. We had great views of dad-and-mom couples bobbing their heads to Huey Lewis and Wang Chung. The service was friendly and prompt and damn! the drinks were cheap. Their website indicates a cheap-as-hell happy hour and you can get some idea of their food from the to-go menu. Shoot, maybe we'll give Poppies a shot again on our way home from work.......... read more
