I've been to this Home Depot many times over the years but never tried the food place in front. The reviews seemed good, but I've always been to busy working on a home improvement project to stop and get food here. I finally tried the place a few weeks ago. I ordered a breakfast burrito. It was tasty, but I thought it was a little overpriced for what you get. I think it was $13. The food was not bad. I would eat here again, but I think there are better choices in Fremont. read more

We were trying to figure out what to have for lunch and decided it was the day we tried Pop's Cafe. I kept seeing this pop up as an option on my searches so I was excited to try out this food. In short, it was ok. I wasn't blown away but it's definitely a hefty meal if you're needing something to last you all day. L O C A T I O N It's directly in front of Home Depot on Auto Mall Parkway. Like literally in front of the Home Depot in this little hut area. The parking situation is easy as it's the same lot as the large Home Depot parking lot. I N S I D E It's a small covered area with a few chairs but don't expect to have a gigantic group be here. We ordered to go. M E N U The menu is a mish mash of things from hot dogs, hamburgers, to Latin and Hawaiian flavors. We opted to get a Loco Moco and carne asada burrito. The Loco Moco felt a bit standard. It comes with two hamburger patties and two eggs. I'm not sure if they make their hamburger patties there but it seemed like your standard frozen burger patties. The gravy was a good salty balance to everything. The mac salad is a little heavy on the bell pepper flavor even though there's not much in there. I was burping that up all day. But then again, I have a bit of intolerance to bell peppers so beware if you do also. There's a good amount of rice and I love me a good amount of rice with gravy. The carne asada burrito was sizeable. Lots of meat, rice, and beans and a bit of lettuce. S E R V I C E A nice lady took our order and also let us know they did take over this spot from the original owners about a year or so ago. We paid easily and got our food in a timely manner. O V E R A L L As I mentioned, the food was fine and okay. Good especially if you want something really hearty which a lot of folks who go to Home Depot need energy to sustain their work! I can see why it's thriving in that spot. So I would suggest ordering, then doing your Home Depot shopping, and your food should be ready to go by the time you come out....well if you're doing a quick trip of course. Winston Churchill apparently once said something along the lines that Russia was a "a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma." That's kind of what I feel about this restaurant. Why does it serve a mixture of Hawaiian, Puerto Rican, Mexican, and Korean fast food? Why is it built into the side of a Home Depot? Why are there motivational gym-style quotations and writings on the wall? Perhaps I will never know the answer to these mysteries, but nevertheless, I greatly enjoy eating here and will continue to do so. To quickly state it, yeah, it's a restaurant built into the side of a Home Depot, but there's roofing and seating (and fake grass as a floor?), which are basically perfectly functional at all times. The slightly open nature of the area actually means it doesn't get too hot - so it actually works pretty well as a restaurant. The food selection is as I mentioned, quite varied. I've had the Loco Moco, Bulgogi, Hot Dog, and Philly Cheesesteak. All of them came out very quickly, cheaply (very rare in the Bay Area!!) and were as tasty as you would expect all of these foods to be. On the other hand, you're pretty much getting what you order - no surprises (and you wouldn't really expect a surprise). Macaroni from the Hawaiian plates always goes great with the rice - and the portion sizes for any of the plates are quite large! Seems very popular among people working at or around Home Depot for their breakfast and lunch - and I can understand why! Cheap, fast, convenient, and tasty! I honestly haven't eaten like this very often since moving up from Southern California - and it's delightful that I can eat like this again. This is a small eatery set up outside of Home Depot, providing indoor seating with an open-air outdoor feel. So many choices on the menu, like hot dogs, sausage egg and cheese croissant, and loco moco... but on my recent visit, I went with the breakfast burrito. It was quite sizable, filled with tasty ingredients like hashbrowns, sausage, egg, and cheese, the tortilla grilled nicely, everything freshly made, and served hot, with an optional side of green sauce (choice of medium or spicy). I didn't need the sauce as the burrito was already full of flavor and seasoning. The service was outstanding, the lady who took my order was so friendly and welcoming, and ensured a positive experience for a casual meal on a Saturday afternoon. read more

Review update: I have since tried the breakfast burrito myself and gotten the chicken teriyaki plate twice. The burrito was good but I've had better. Would definitely pick up in a pinch. But the real star of the show is the chicken teriyaki. For $14 you get a lot of chicken, a good amount of rice, two perfectly fried eggs, some veggies. The veggies are probably the only thing that could be improved on, otherwise this plate is perfect. And honestly, I'm not ordering it for the veggies lol. There's plenty of yummy sauce for the rice to soak up plus the perfect gooey eggs and probably like 2+ large chicken thighs. They're all cut up so I'm not sure exactly how much chicken but it's plenty. I've ordered this twice now and can't finish it. It's easily two meals. Or at least a filling meal with some to snack on later. Now this I will be coming back for regularly when I need to run to Home Depot. read more

After an extremely long and exhausting week, we wanted an early breakfast (like right when the sunrise early) and Pop's Cafe was one of the only places that opened near us. Tbh I was super stoked because their loco moco looked delicious! I drove up & realized it was a cute little stall outside of Home Depot. I can't complain since I needed to pick up something from inside anyways. The order was done without 15-20 mins as promised. And I was happy that it was still hot when I got home. However, the loco moco lacked flavor. The gravy tasted like a gravy we can buy in powder or canned form from the supermarket. The pattie was juicy but again, lacked salt. We ended up adding salt, pepper and a bunch of Tabasco over it. Wanted to love it so badly bc the owner was the sweetest, but the flavor wasn't quite there for us to get us coming back. read more

Pop's Cafe couldn't be in a better location. They offer a variety of nice hot meals for just about anyone. It's great if you're on your lunch break in need of a quick bite, in between picking up supplies, running errands, or a meal before dinner lol! I like that I can get a great spicy link hot dog without the typical eating out prices nowadays. I swear I've paid double at other hot dog places. I could have gone crazy and ordered a lot more things but I just wanted quick bite this time. I'll definitely be back for more on my next Home Depot run. I just moved to the area and had to make a stop at Home Depot. As my family and i were walking out, we heard music and looked over to see this gem hidden with the greenery! We walked in and were greeted with big energy, smiles, and a tasty sample. THAT right there sold us!!! We ordered hot link sandwiches and garlic fries. We devoured that in a matter of 5 minutes. The sandwich was full and flavorful, i ate only half since it was so big!! The owner also gave us chili to try and that was amazing!!!! With the fries!!! Holy shit this place is good!! It's an interesting variety of food, ranging from loco moco's to croissant sandwiches, but that just means more options. The burger is comparable to In-n-Out with this delicious sauce and all the fixings, while the Polish dog wasn't too salty but still very flavorful. We got 2 loco mocos, 2 3 tacos order (they do not have empanadas) and a breakfast croissant, everything was 1 star at best. I only gave 2 stars because the Korean (?) Aunty was nice but the food was not worth the $68+ total. Would never go back, sorry but if these are the new owners they are not honoring what Pop's Cafe created. read more

Located just outside the doors of the Home Depot, you'll find Pop's Cafe Grinds. There are still working to make the eating area more comfortable and to block their guests from the elements, since it is pretty windy and cold if you're eating your meal there. It will get more comfortable once they install the outdoor heaters and install a barrier to block the wind. They are also planning to install a large screen TV for their guests. As for the food, the selections I've had have been tasty and they aren't shy with theIr portions. The Chicken Teriyaki was really good. The chicken was tender and the teriyaki sauce was delish. The macaroni in the macaroni salad was a bit hard and I prefer mine cooked a bit more. But, it was flavored nicely and the portion size was a lot. The Loco Moco has a good--sized beef patty, with an easy-over egg on top. Those were on top of a large amount of white rice and they added a tasty beef gravy on top. This also came with macaroni salad. The large breakfast burrito is for someone with an appetite. It's filled with bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns and cheese. My son finished it, but I'd probably make 2 meals out of it. The giant polish dog was really good. They butterflied the dog and grilled it. Help yourself to condiments at the side table. Lastly, the spam musubi was good. Again, they don't skimp on the amount of rice, grill the spam and add their tasty teriyaki sauce and wrap it in nori (seaweed). If you're near Home Depot in Fremont and have a craving, stop by and give this place a try. read more

This place is simply amazing. Don't let the fact that it's located right outside of Home Depot fool you. I come here for the breakfast burrito which is one of the best I've ever had in my whole life. There are 3 sizes: small ($8), medium ($10) & large ($12) and I always go for large. Go big or go home lol. The owner Marty is also super friendly. Amazing food! We were down in Fremont after taking out car in for an estimate. Saw this place on yelp and decided to go. Since we're not familiar with the area we were definitely surprised by the location! Pop's Cafe is a tiny place in what's basically a food truck not on wheels. We were even more intrigued by this. The man I can only assume is the "Pop" took our orders. My husband had a beef torta and I got a chicken taco. He asked if I was sure that would be enough and offered to throw in a second one for free! Though appreciative of the offer, I reassured him that it was plenty for me (since I'd recently had stomach surgery). My husband definitely enjoyed the torta, but the chicken taco... oh boy! This was the best taco I've ever had in my life. And being a native Californian I've had a lot! The green sauce that it came with was amazing too. I Pop's Cafe is tucked away and a bit of a drive for me down from Hayward, but definitely one I'd make again for another taco. read more

I went in thinking I wanted tacos but after listening to the lady at the counter describe what's in their burrito I had to try it. Ohhhhhhh emmmmmm geeeeeeeeee! I got a medium carnitas burrito and I'm in love. First off, a medium is HUGE. But more importantly, this thing tastes like heaven. I know this a family business but our order was so disappointing I hope they can improve for future guests. We ordered the loco moco and the order was completely off. We asked for one with egg and the other without (both came with egg). Ours came with bell peppers? And no macaroni salad?? The meat was hard and tasted frozen. Also it didnt come with white rice but some other fusion one. I understand it's a fusion restaurant but our food looked nothing like the photo (which was the traditional Hawaiian loco moco). There was also hair in our food I couldn't even finish it. Overall was just super disappointing, I couldnt even finish the meal. read more

Ordered a breakfast burrito that was basic not tasty i've had better it includes a green saice that was never mentioned on the menu. Also ordered chicken teriyaki that was pretty surprising to me. It said it came w rice, vegetables and the chicken but the rice was the red hispanic rice with veggies that were gooey & sticky ew .. Chicken was mid, didn't even finish food & ordered from another place instead. Service was nice , food took a while to come out but i noticed the lady starring while i was checking my to-go order lol felt watched uncomfortable. Ambiance was very basic the carpet was dirty, no decor besides a poster hanging with quotes and plastic table with chairs to chill at.
