A lot of buzz but also a lot of issues. None of us enjoyed our food very much. The pizza can't hold a candle to Bivio. The rest of the meal was meh. The drinks were decent although the wine glasses were very strange low glasses. The screaming kids and lack of sound reduction was made worse by the loud music. The 14 1/2 "pepperoni" pizza is incredible!!! Even for 2 people you'll probably need to get 2 pizzas to be satisfied because in general the pies are on the smaller side. The cocktails are amazing. If you like a tropical vibe with a hint of coconut milk get the Frankie T's cocktail. It's one of the best drinks Ive ever had and instantly transports you to an island vacay. I've only come on weekdays around 5pm and its plenty seating so I'm not sure what the weekend vibe is. I'm happy that Porta is in town because we dont have a lot of pizza options out here. Horrendous. First, we were put on a waitlist, about 30 mins, with a text notification system. We took a walk and returned to the restaurant after 30 minutes with no text. After using the bathroom and, checking with the hostess on the waitlist status we were sat. The first mistake was seating us and other tables in a section with a rowdy party of at least 15 people in front of us. This crowd was over-served as the evening went on. The party was screaming right next to our table, and broke at least 3 glasses. We had also saw another table seated after us get up, and leave after waiting about 20 minutes without the server greeting them. (We wish we had done the same but were too far into the night) The server was clearly overworked as the table next to us were complaining that she had not even greeted since they sat down. After taking too long to greet our table, the drink and appetizer orders were taken. The server did inform us they were backed up on pizza so our focaccia would come separate from the meatballs, okay no problem. The meatballs arrived within 5 minutes with our drinks arriving at least 15 minutes after that. The focaccia maybe 25 minutes later. After finally ordering entrees, 2 pastas, eggplant with side pasta and one pizza side sausage. It was expected the pizza would probably take longer. However, each individual entree came in 20-30 minute increments. Also take into account the entree and side did not come out together. I have to say it took at least 1 hour to get a side of sausage that was the saddest looking dish I had ever seen. It is absolutely insane that a kitchen would work this way. It made for an extremely uncomfortable evening.Unless you would like to stare at each person while they eat their entree, I do not recommend this establishment whatsoever. We did tell our server this was extremely unpleasant the whole time, although this was out of her control. There was no manager involved to check on us to ask if everything was okay. read more

Friendly, quick service. Food was delicious. The Italian Stallion pizza was unique and delicious.

There's nothing special about the thin crust pizza. You can probably go to any restaurant in New Jersey that offers margarita thin crust pizza and you will get the same or better. read more

My boyfriend and I love the Asbury Park location, so we were excited when we realized a new Montclair location opened up. We stopped in for a weekday dinner while in town. The food and drinks were good and comparable to the Asbury Park location, but I will admit that the service was very slow like other reviewers mentioned. It felt like a quick dinner unintentionally turned into a longer evening due to the wait for food, wait for the check, etc. Our waitress was sweet though and incredibly apologetic about this. I've been to Porta Montclair, Asbury Park, and Jersey City. Porta Montclair was great! I went for both Brunch and Dinner. We were seated for our reservations on-time. The staff was courteous. The food was delicious! You have to try the fresh Ricotta. I usually order the 14 1/2, but today I went with the Cacio E Pepe. Highly recommend. I stopped in for a drink on a Saturday night and the two bartenders' service, attitude and interaction were terrible. I won't complain about my below average Manhattan but it was very apparent that no one enjoyed working there. Kinda baffled why this place has 3 and a half stars. The cocktails are excellent - it's a serious cocktail program, developed by an experienced bartender and executed consistently - not the usual maddening NJ espresso martini/appletini menu (nothing against a fun trashy cocktail, but I don't need a menu for that). The food is fresh, well-prepared, and properly seasoned. As for the service, it's no different from every other post-pandemic northern NJ restaurant. It's chaotic on crowded evenings, but that's how it is these days. Absolutely horrible. Went with a party of 12 for my wife's birthday. We decided to arrive 30min early to have some pre dinner drinks and on arrival told the hostess we would be by the bar and to let us know when our table was ready. She never did. My wife went over to her and asked if our table was ready 20 mins after our reservation time and she remarked yes as if she was waiting for us to check in. We were sat upstairs in the main dining hall around 930pm. There are long picnic like tables up there and the seating feels like a warehouse made cafeteria. It was extremely difficult to hear one another speak as halfway through our dinner they started breaking down the tables and clearing the area for a dance floor. This was not even the worst part. The service and timing of the meal was horrendous. We ordered 4 appetizers to start. They took 45 minutes to arrive and arrived in intervals of about 15 minutes. At this point all our friends were starving and angry. Myself and guests were having to get up from the table to find servers to take our drink orders. Eventually we just kept going up to the bar to order drinks. Finally when a server came to the table we were able to order entrees. The entrees took about another 45 minutes- 1hr 15 min to arrive as again they were brought to us in increments of 20 minutes. There was absolutely no flow in the evening. Certain friends couldn't hold out any longer to await other's food to arrive. They told us it was last call and the kitchen was closing before half of us were even served our entrees! My wife's blood was boiling. It was an absolute mess. They made us feel unwelcome and uncared for. We left without even singing happy birthday because we were so frustrated. We will not be returning. Very overrated. The food isn't awful but it is very much average. So many other amazing options in the area.

My friends and I waited an hour for our reserved table and once our table was ready there wasn't enough room for all of us to be seated. When we finally spoke to the manager it was 45 min past our reservation and 5 of us were standing at the end of the table because there were not enough seats. The manager was so condescending and rude and could not have have cared less that this happened. He did not apologize or offer a solution , made it seem like it was our problem not his and we had to just wait it out for another party to finish up. Unfortunately because of how he acted it really affected our night since we were so taken back and not treated well. That being said once we were finally all at a table together the food was great and waiter was amazing and so friendly. Just have never encountered a manager of a restaurant that acted that way. read more
