We had the most amazing dinner here. We sat outside and it was a little loud due to the game being on but the atmosphere did not suffer for it. I enjoyed feeling the breeze and was able to look out at the green around me. It's nestled at the back of shelter cove so not as busy as some of the restaurants right on the main roads. But shelter cove is not to be dismissed either because it's got some great shopping and walking right there. If you don't have dessert at this restaurant, there's a kilwins very close that's very popular . This place also has an early dinner option if you had an early lunch for instance. It was super cost affordable and I absolutely adored the Ratatouille Risotto that I got. It was such a big helping with the chicken that I easily ate it for 2 meals. read more

This is a nice seafood restaurant in the area! It was really busy when my group arrived, but they were able to seat us immediately. I got the stuffed cod and also got to try the hush puppies and broiled scallops. The hush puppies were very delicious - perfectly fried and a tasty sweet and savory taste. My stuffed cod was pretty good as well, just a tad over baked in my opinion. I tried some of the broiled scallops and they were delicious. The roasted vegetables and rice were also both very flavorful. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here and I would come here again if I was in the area. read more

The Great Gal and I noshed at Poseidon with six others for Happy Hour that rolled into dinner. We were more than lucky to have Server Extraordinaire, Melissa for our table. ... truly personable, on top of her game in every sense of the word. I enjoyed the heck out of deep fried deviled egg. Never had such a dish before. I loved it, although a bit spicy for me. Others at the table loved the spice. I added a bowl of She Crab Cream soup that I absolutely loved. Would have eaten two bowls if I could. The GG went a crab cake, which I nibbled and loved. She also enjoyed oysters, as did everyone else at the table, ..... except me. Not my style! Other table meals enjoyed were chicken sliders, clam strips, sushi with caviar, and spinach salad. Everyone was delighted with meals and drinks! Great spot connected to shopping and a park on the water across the street for an evening stroll. The food is always good, the staff is nice and friendly and the options for seating are always nice, outside patio, inside or upper deck. The twin lobster was great, the sword fish was good, the only thing that threw me was the lobster and shrimp cocktail, it was good but the presentation if I can be picky for a second was lack luster. Went here and ordered the lunch combination which is a great value! With it we got the clam chowder, she crab soup, cod sliders, and po boys oysters, and the hush puppies for an appetizer. I loved this place! It was recommended by a local and I had a wonderful experience. It's beautifully decorated with a covered outdoor area and bar. There is also a rooftop bar which is unique. This area is adorable and conveniently located to resorts close by, and the parking is easy. One weird thing was that we were sat at a table by the outside Nauti Bar (less than 10 feet from it), asked about happy hour specials and were told these were exclusively for sitting at the bar or the surrounding tables on the other side. So naturally, we moved. That was strange (maybe it's a separate business?) but the specials were great! $1 oysters and $6 margs, for example. We ordered oysters and then for our mains I had the Fish & Chips which were honestly the best I've ever had in my life. The fish pieces are HUGE and so incredibly crispy. I sent a friend here that traveled to HHI after and he also agreed. My other friend enjoyed her Salmon dish. The portions are grandeur especially for the price point. Our bartender was outstanding and attentive. We also met the manager and he was so nice! He wasn't wrong about this Fish & Chips either - yum! Cannot recommend Poseidon enough! read more

Food was good. I got the frogmore stew. A tampered down version of a crab boil with shrimp, kielbasa, potatoes and corn on the cob. Seasoned well. My husband got the mahi mahi Mediterranean style and absolutely loved it. The fish was cooked perfectly and risotto as well. My daughter got the crab boil and ate the whole thing, no complaints! The service was wonderful as well. Our waitress took the time to let us know the specials and took time out to just have a nice conversation with us. Very welcoming. We sat outside, because why sit inside when it's beautiful out? Well it was a bit stuffy, I do wish there were more fans there. I'm sure that you might be able to see the water from where we were but unless you're sitting on the roof top on a Tuesday evening you won't see much because of the inflatables for the kids and food truck. read more

Poseidon is one of the best SERG group fast casual restaurants on Hilton Head. There were 6 of us who reserved a table in advance inside. In the summer, inside is usually better based on comfort and potential uninvited guests. Our waitress was Madina and she did a wonderful job taking drink orders, keeping our refills coming and serving us. She also made some great recommendations. Three of us went for the early dining special for $25 which included a soup or salad. I had the Seafood Trio which consisted of shrimp, scallops and halibut. It was served with vegetables and dirty rice (brown/seasoned). I also had the She Crab soup which was excellent. This was not my first time to this restaurant. The first time I was upstairs which is now called the Rooftop where you can get a great sunset view. The second time is when we did the dozen raw oysters. They were fabulous. This time, everyone had a great meal. Even my wife who doesn't eat seafood had the Margherita Flatbread along with Caesar Salad. You won't be disappointed. read more

Before I give my review, I want to start by saying the food was good and I will go back because I loved the restaurant. Now why not 5 stars ... the staff. The waitress we had seemed to have an attitude from the moment we sat down. We had to ask for early bird menus and happy hour menus. She seemed to not want to give those to us. Then the guy giving out food barely spoke English and when trying to help him he got frustrated and slammed down the food. I don't know what was going on but at that point it was three stars for food and atmosphere. It's a nice place. However Manager Jo came in and saved the experience. She was wonderful and when she came in things changed. So I will go back because of the good food and great manager. Plus the early bird menu is amazing read more

We visit Poseidon each year when we are on vacation. In past years, it was OK. This year it was outstanding! Good to see it trending in the right direction. Food and service were excellent with fresh appetizers and fresh and well prepared meals. Baked Oyster Combo app was delicious as well as the chilled Lobster meat app. Fresh! I had the broiled seafood collection and my wife had the low country boil. Both abundant and tasty! Service was attentive and friendly. We will be back next year with the whole crew! read more

We dined at Poseidon this evening and had a good experience. Walter was our server and did a decent job. Poseidon's restaurant concept is around serving fresh seafood and meat in a 'resort casual' (I stole that 'label' from an attire sign posted in their entry) or higher end casual environment. No tank tops or cutoffs I suspect is what the dress code is. We started with the Sunset sushi roll (5/5). It was fresh and flavorful. My wife had grilled grouper w/mixed veggies and baked sweet potato (4/5). She loved the grilled fresh grouper, but the sides were nothing to brag about. I had a grilled rib eye with whipped potatoes and mixed veggies (4/5). The steak had good chargrilled flavor, seasoned well, and cooked to the right temperature. It was a good solid meal. If I lived on HHI and was looking for open flamed grilled fresh fish, I would definitely come to Poseidon. There were at least 5 different fresh fish choices (not counting shellfish)...this pretty amazing. read more

We finally went on our last night this year, and our biggest mistake was waiting until the last day because we had no more time to go back! Our waitress was very professional, but kept bringing Moscow mules that had to be sent back for missing ingredients (I know--not a lot of ingredients in the drink, but they were missed, lol). We received a recommendation from a friend to come here. The outdoor bar had tons of people overlooking the park across the street. Indoors they had booths and there is even an upstairs rooftop bar. The place is huge ! Our waitress was excellent and checked frequently on us. She knew the menu well and answered our questions honestly and expertly. The food was great ! I got a bowl of she crab soup. It was very good ! I would have loved a touch of sherry poured on top though, to elevate it to the next level. Hubby ordered the hushpuppies. They were crunchy and well fried with a cornmeal breading. I wish the butter had more honey. A bread basket was also brought out. Hubby got the salmon in the East Coast style. It had a tomato based sauce with capers. The sides were garlic butter veggies and mashed potatoes made in-house and excellent. I wanted local fish. The only item local was the shrimp. I went ahead and got the fried combo. It came with fried oysters, but they allowed me to substitute scallops. It also came with deviled crab, fried cod, and the local fried shrimp. The shrimp was absolutely excellent ! The breading on everything was light and fried perfectly. Sides were fries and slaw... just ok. The waitress did state that all their side dishes are made there. For dessert we had the best key lime pie I've ever had. It was the chef's wife's recipe. The filling had a slight tang and the texture was so creamy ! The "merigue" on top reminded me of the taste of a toasted marshmallow. The graham cracker crust was also made there. My husband and I shared a piece and devoured it. The other dessert items are made by an outside company. This was the only one made there and you MUST get it ! We would definately return ! read more

Poseidon has been a consistent reservation for us over the last 5 or 6 years, but our experience this year was not very good, primarily due to the quality of the food. I had the Mixed Grill, which consisted of a 4 oz. Filet Mignon, crab cake, and two stuffed shrimp plus whipped potatoes and green beans (I subbed these in for the roasted veggies). The filet was cold - literally the center of it was cold and the steak was doused in some terrible steak sauce, which wasn't even mentioned on the menu. The crab cake was solid - give credit where it's due, it was the redeeming part of my meal. The two stuffed shrimp first of all were tiny, but on top of that were also WAY overcooked and cold - the dreaded triple threat. The whipped potatoes were solid, the green beans were severely undercooked. For reference, my father in law had the fried oysters and fries and sent his fries back because they were cold and said the oysters were nit very good either. Not sure if the kitchen was having an off day or if this is the new norm, but likely won't be making a reservation next year with so many good options on the island. read more

By reading reviews and the menu, I thought this was a fine dining restaurant. I would categorize it more like a college bar, at least on the patio. Which is fine--I just wasn't expecting that. Wanted you to know. The staff was super-friendly and worked together well. Cocktails were sugar-bombs. Probably stick with beer. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, which came with 5 enormous prawns and a cocktail horseradish sauce and a creamy sauce. We got the lobster roll, which was a glorified California roll--not worth it, IMO. And we got the crab dip--more cream than crab. There were only 2 tables with kids there, but the patio was very loud, so I imagine if you wanted to bring your kids, it would be appropriate. The table next to us allowed their children to play some sort of whistle instrument, which was ear splitting. Dont do that. Two servers apologized to us and made faces. I would not return. read more
