I've been here a couple times. It's just OK, not Yelp's A-Ok, so only 2 stars, and I feel a little bad about that, but you all want my honest opinion, right? Last time we were there, the Caesar salad was bland... no taste. It seemed like it was damp romaine lettuce with some Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top, with a few croutons thrown in. My wife's shrimp scampi was also tasteless, not a hint of garlic. Although she did ask the waitress to go easy on the butter and oil, so maybe that was the problem. I'm a believer that any time you ask the chef (or cook) to do something different, you're taking your chances. Obviously that's not the case at fine dining restaurants. My spaghetti bolognese was also kind of tasteless. It just have been an off night for the kitchen. Who knows. The service was good and the waitress was pleasant. They have that going for it. Great unexpected find. Everything else was closed at 7:30 on a Tuesday ( and I mean everything) so we figured "guess it will be pizza" for dinner. What a revelation. I have to say that we ordered from Positive Pie in Montpelier this evening in an attempt to give them a second chance. I realize that the current situation is difficult and challenging, but to me that's all the more reason to make sure the quality standards are high. I ignored a couple orders ago when I had mac and cheese that was rather bland. However, this time I had fried chicken parmigiana which was overcooked, dry, and had almost no sauce. To add to that the roll fell apart almost immediately. We've been customers for some time, but no longer. We've wasted enough money trying to support this business. The lack of pride and care in their product is apparent. I'd suggest considering some changes to attempt to bring it back to the type of food they used to pride themselves for. Very friendly service here as we dined at the bench seats facing the window to take in the entertainment of the strolling Montpelierians. We highly recommend the Moonshadow Pizza- it was enough to share with a friend and have some leftover. The dough was perfect- crunchy and soft. We shared a beet salad and a rootbeer too. Nice dependable pizza spot in Montpelier! Our service was very prompt and friendly and all of the staff were masked. Great selection of beer and a classic Italian style menu -- plus the portions were enormous. We had poutine and then a personal pie and this was more than enough for 2 people. I have noticed positive changes at Positive Pie. But they still have work to do. My number one complaint is the owner(s) of this place just seem cheap. Pizza: They have been cooking the pizzas better and burning them less. However, I still think they are overpriced. Why is a three-topping pizza costing me over $30? That's absurd. The mark up is crazy! Also are the pizza's shrinking? Their family size is what I would call a medium pie not a large- but they charge a large price for it. Lastly, if I am paying $30 for a pizza, please stop skimping on the toppings- load my pie up! Quit being cheap!! Delivery/ Dining In: Better but still not amazing. It seems like they don't know how to properly expedite tickets so they end up taking forever. Atmosphere: Blistering hot in the summer and cold as hell in the winter. In the summer it can be unbearably hot here. There is no A/C! I stopped by last winter and all the wait staff was wearing their coats because it was so cold in the restaurant. To the managers of P.Pie: Don't be jerks. If you can't keep your restaurant warm, send your staff home. No one wants to eat in a cold restaurant anyway. Like I said in my last review: It is really unfortunate that P.Pie chooses to cut corners the way they do because this place has a lot of potential. We used to enjoy drinks and a meal here but we won't frequent the Montpelier location ever again! We were seated after having to wait while the waitstaff gossiped in the breezeway then waited an eternity to order drinks. The trash on the floor and lack of service (must have been important juicy gossip that day) drove us away, we walked out. My husband is quiet but I did let one of the waitstaff know why we were leaving. The waitstaff behaved as if we, the customers, were an inconvenience! I brought my family last night Sunday June 25 th for dinner and cocktails. The advice was poor from the start. We were the only table outside. The waiter brought water and we order drinks and appetizers. Ge brought the food no utensils. Didn't refill water the kids only drank water. We waited and waited over 1hr 20min before I had to go inside and ask for the bill. The waiter game outside and waited on other tables they were getting full at that time. He didn't even look at our table once. We should get a comp. My daughter wasted $101 for lousy service. There was another table that a lady complained about the service also she got a free pizza. This is the worst restaurant that I have ever been to. Took45 mins to get back me family style pizza + 2 kids meals. Then out comes a pizza with pepperoni on both the kids and family pizza when we said explicitly we are vegetarians. They add extras for toppings even though that was not part of the order. When I bring this up with the manager she decides to make up for this by adding a gratuity of 20% to our bill. Veggie Kids spaghetti shows up with meat and when we send this back manager puts this on the receipt as "customer did not like" the food. Kids meal had a option for apple cider but we get charged for this as extra. Complete and total ripoff and this attitude comes from the snobby manager. Waited almost 20 minutes for any server to come over. They all kept looking at us and not coming over. A server randomly dropped breadsticks in front of us that we did not order BEFORE anyone came over to even take our order... and then later on into the evening same server almost gave our garlic knots to another table. I'm throwing some love at a place with a surprisingly low rating. Positive Pie 2 is a good pizza place. Yes, it has an odd decor (punk rock pizza, if I was to label it), but hats of to them for dishing up quality calzones and strombolis and delicious salad. The red sauce is tasty, the toppings are fresh and flavorful, and the dough used has a crisp outside and yielding inside. I may be a tourist, but I eat pizza everywhere I go, and I'd say that PP2 does Vermont proud. read more

So much of it is homemade, and they have a great variety of options for vegetarians and gluten free individuals. The atmosphere is casual, a little quirky (we were sitting under neon lights), but we had a great time. Lauren, our waitress was sweet and patient with our group and answered questions and accommodated is well. My husband had the Bruschetta pizza which was AWESOME (some of the best pizza we have ever had, and we are from Chicago!) I had the Bolognese, which was also delicious. There's a large, handsome bar you can sit at, which we opted for.
