I liked my chicken pot pie, full of flavor, crust was amazing, the chicken wasn't overly cooked and dry, but the only thing I would want is a bit saucier. It was on the thicker side for me, the pie crust soaked up all the sauce. That would have made it perfect for me. Atmosphere: it was homie. Total mom and pops kinda feels. After hearing so much about this place, I finally got to try it. I got the spicy Thai chicken curry. It was interesting that they put noodles in it. But I liked it. Pros: The crust is nice and flaky, the flavor is great and not too heavy or rich. Cons: The chicken is a bit dry. It was not spicy at all. The owner let us sample the special of the day which was a Havanese (sp?) curry and it was delicious!!! I wish She let us try it before I ordered because I would've gotten that instead. I've tried about six of the pot pies so far and all were good. Some are exceptional. They do change out some of the pies, so don't get your heart set on an unusual one...it may be gone the next time you pop in. What I appreciate is that it's not oozing with gravy. Each pot pie is about the filling rather than being hidden by a gravy binder. There is gravy. It's just not overwhelming. Which I love. This is a lovely little place. I usually sit in the back room. It's quirky but in a good way. The bathrooms are large and clean. There's loads of parking. Now, I can't speak to anything other than the pot pies because I go with a friend and that's her rule. We can't go to Pot Pie Paradise and not get pot pies. Some day, I'm going to go and try a sandwich and salads. I've seen them being made and they look so fresh and delicious. I purchased 4 pies for a party we were hosting this past week and everyone seemed pleasantly happy about the pies and happily took leftovers home with them. I think they are all a little on the salty side, but perhaps that's part and parcel for pot pies. A few things They're only open on the weekdays during lunch, so it's difficult unless you're in the area or available to drive there during these hours. They also are at the Castro valley farmers market on the weekend if you are willing or able to make it out there. The place feels industrial but plenty of people were there around 1 pm when I stopped by The big pies come frozen. You need to thaw them for 2-3 days in the fridge prior to baking. You can bake them all together but for a little longer than the instructions since more than one pie is sharing the oven. If you have a dog, he/she might go insane with hunger over the delicious smell of pie wafting from the oven after about 15 mins. We had : Large pot roast pie: a real favorite amongst all in attendance. Crust was so flaky and tasty and beef mixture was very flavorful (though again a little salty for my tastes) Large roast pork pot pie: very "porky" on Flavor. One guest with a very discriminating palate proclaimed this one as his favorite. Large free range chicken: corrected by the lady at the counter when I said organic instead of free range. This is an all breast meat chicken pot pie. Good, but I have a strong general preference for dark meat. If you like or generally prefer white meat, this is the pie for you!! Small free range chicken : i couldn't resist getting a small one. We cooked it on a Sunday and I didn't reheat and eat it until the following Thursday (I know ... kind of scary) but it was still very tasty, if not a bit dry (again white meat, maybe also because of cooking twice/three times). This place is so unique. It's in the industrial part of Hayward. You will drive in and not think a restaurant would be back here, but one is. A very delicious one. The menu has about 20 different styles of pot pies. I went for the all American chicken pot pie. My co-worker went for the duck and red curry pot pie. See how vast the flavors are? Sandwiches, salads and soups are also for sale. I got the coconut macaroon and I had to go back and buy another one. They are delicious. Not too sweet. The owner and staff are very helpful. Frozen pot pies can also be purchased if you would like to take one home. The cost of a frozen pot pie is $28. The cost of the individual pot pies are between $7-$8. I had recently heard about this place which was supposed to have home made pot pies in several varieties. We traveled app 30 min to get there. Was very disappointed to see how small the pies were for the price. We purchased app 6 different frozen pies to try out. The chicken and turkey pies were very disappointing. The chicken and turkey pieces were cubed and very dry and honestly I've had better in store bought frozen pies and KFC chicken pies. They cost much less are larger and the crust is a firm golden brown which is what you would expect. The bottom crust on these pies was raw dough even after cooking them as instructed. Also, their other items potato salad and mac and cheese were very pricey for small portions. Won't be going back. read more

Vegan and vegetarian pot pies?? Sounds like heaven. My goal is to try all their vegetarian/vegan pot pies! I usually come here during lunch since my work is nearby. Very isolated place in the industrial side of town to have a pot pie shop, but I'm happy they're here. I usually get their personal size pies. I think it's the right size and I'm pretty stuffed by the time I get to the last bite. I love how there's so many different flavors as well as dessert pies, too. Besides pot pies, they have a deli, too, with non-pot-pie options such as sandwiches, wraps, salads, daily specials and soups, dessert, etc. I had one of their vegetarian wraps once, and it was nicely made and tasted fresh. I have had a fair share of pies and they have a great selection and flavor they also sell at farmers markets. Not sure how I failed to learn about this place until just now, but there you go. It's a bit out of the way, but not as far as say, Whole Foods. The place has an awesome and clear vegan selection. The side salad is simple and fresh (as it should be) and has no freakin' onions, and the serving people clearly understand what vegan means. The pies are excellent and you can tell they're using quality ingredients without being too filling. I haven't tried their other items, but the full on salad looks pretty good too. Nested in a very industrial edge of Hayward, Pot Pie Paradise and Deli is famous for selling their pot pies at many farmer's markets. I even saw a couple of TV clips showcasing the their delicious pot pies. I came here on basic impulse while going to work (only about mile away). The location here wasn't too hard to find. When you walk inside, you noticed that they have a very large unused dining area. They have a lot of their pot pies ready for sale from their fridge. The pot pies are pretty much oversized even for the containers that I bought them in. You would order from their long list of pot pies that were available. I used a stovetop oven, to heat up my pot pie. I find the pot pies were exceptionally good. I got the country beef pot pie which was okay. If you're like me you have a list of bookmarked places that you hope to one day be able to knock off that list. With the Yelp app I can go to my bookmarked places and find the ones that are closest to me at a particular time. Especially handy when that time means I'm hungry. I also must admit I'm not a real big Pot Pie fan. Ive never met one I liked. This one was no exception. I ordered the German Beef with Mushrooms. The flavor was kind of blah and seemed like it was once made fresh then frozen then reheated. The Beef had a lot of gristle that I couldn't chew so I had to spit those pieces out. I cant confirm that the Pie was frozen then reheated but if it was the Crust held up nicely and was my favorite part. If I could have just gotten a giant Crust to eat I probably would have been happier. The menu has quite a few more options of Pot Pies and other deli type food. Plenty of seating in the place but I usually eat outside in my car. Plenty of parking I should say. I first learned of this place because it was on the hot on yelp page for the east bay, good thing to, because I would have had no idea about this place! It was just minutes from my g/f's place, and because the two of us were sick, and wanted to get some fresh air, (don't worry weren't to contagious.) we both thought getting a piping hot pot pie would be just what the doctor ordered! As we drove, a few reservations in my head started to creep in, as my track record with pot pies in restaurants have been limited but all had been consistently poor. But as we drove through this commercial district, the out of the way location and more importantly the smell of baking pastry dough and spices wafted through the air as I got out of the car. It was at that point, all reservations from the horrific pot pies I had in restaurants seemed to have drifted away. Walking in there was a pretty significant line, which I think is another great sign, it did move pretty quickly, and the people behind the counters were very friendly and took care of us in a timely fashion. I loved the flaky crispy pie crust, encasing steaming, hot molten fillings, and for our first visit we decided to try something a tad on the familiar side, my g/f had the Country style pot roast, nice hearty chunks of beef, (was not overcooked) and loaded to the brim with coarsely chopped veggies all floating happily in a thick brown gravy. I also went fairly traditional, I had the Classic American Chicken, again, nice chunky bits of chicken breast (I wish they would throw in some dark meat) with again nice chunky coarse bits of vegetables, the white gravy was rich, milky and buttery, and oh so delish! Oh man, it's been a long, long time since I've had a pie that tasty. We also had a some of their pesto salad which was decent, but the chicken noodle soup was extremely tasty, I think from now on I try to do more of the pie and soup combo. The salads look extremely fresh and a number of people were ordering the sandwiches, which makes me very curious, I mean I want to try the sandwiches but at the same time I think Ill be tough to resisting those damn pot pies... In the end, we ended up taking 4 more pies home, to share with friends and freeze it to save it for a later date. Some people mentioned that they thought the crust is a little soggy at the bottom, if you are going to cook one at home, don't ruin it by throwing it in the microwave, it takes longer but use the oven, here's a little tip, if you have a extra slate tile or a pizza stone bring it to 400 degrees and once it gets to that temp, cook the pies on that and loosely cover them with foil for 25 minutes, halfway through the cooking process remove the foil to get the crust gets nice and crispy. However, I'm always a safe eater, and went for their free range chicken pot pie to go. Hearing how long the lines are and how that's not my cup of tea, I called in an order. Down a star because it was a game of calling and reaching their voicemail, hanging up, calling again, reaching voicemail, and calling again to finally get through. You have the option of to take it to go hot or cold, opting for a hot pot pie, I received it in a plastic container. Bummer, because it began to sweat so fast in the plastic all warm. Luckily I wasn't going far before I could indulge in it so it wasn't too big of an issue. Full of veggies, potatoes and chicken, all wrapped up in a puff pastry, definitely hit the spot. Awesome little hole-in-the-wall hidden in the business buildings of Hayward. Although their online menu features (approximately) 30 different pot pies, their in-store selection is dependent on their daily specials. They only offered about 10-12 different pot pies the day my boyfriend and I visited this place for the first time. I ordered the Ricotta Spinach Breakfast and my boyfriend had the Aussie Steak, both of which were very reasonably priced (~$5 each). The friendly wait staff served up our pot pies straight from the oven. They were incredible and tasted very home made =) A nice change from the frozen pot pies from Costco. I've been wanting to come here for awhile and I finally did today with my dad after hiking Mission Peak. For $18, we got two pot pies, a soda, and two cookies. My dad got the oatmeal raisin cookies because he was too hungry to wait for the pot pies. They are not worth $1! My dad thought $6 was a too pricey for a mini pot pie, but it's been almost 2 hours and I'm still full! He got the marsala chicken pot pie. I got the chicken tikka masala pot pie. Have only checked in once but have been here dozens of times. They have some great Vegan options for my daughter and it's close to where I live so it is very convenient. I've tried many items on the menu and all have been well above average. Chicken pot pies are delicious, chicken salad sandwich might be the best I've tasted and I am absolutely in love with their soups which rotate on a daily basis. They also have specials that change everyday that are incredibly popular because at lunch time this place can be very crowded. Be warned though that they close the actual restaurant at 3 PM but you can pickup pies you ordered ahead of time until 430 PM. Also they go around to various Farmers Markets on the weekends. Staff is exceptionally friendly. Like previous reviews have stated it is definitely off the beaten path but well worth the trip to eat a high quality meal made by friendly people. read more

Why hello, my new favorite place! I love pot pies. My facebook wife and I used to make chicken pot pies whenever we had time, and although we'd usually try to make multiple pies, we'd end up finishing all of it within a very short period of time. So much for cooking in bulk. I agree with Aishling. This place is seriously in the middle of nowhere. It's a a pretty odd place for an eatery of any kind, but it seems to be doing well, despite its location. Everyone there was very friendly. :] I like doing yelp research before I go anywhere (I guess my life is now lacking in some spontaneity as a result of this, but how else do I find great deals/get my money's worth?). I had a fat list of all the pies I'd like to try there, and went there today with my favorite neighbor. :D I had the Aussie steak, and she had the Chicken Tikka Masala. They have cups for water and specials every day. It's cheaper if you buy the pies frozen and heat em' up at home. Since we made the trip out here, I decided to maximize this pie-experiencing goodness and got a spicy thai chicken curry pie + a rhubarb strawberry pie. Of the three that I've tried so far (the rhubarb strawberry one is still sittin' in my fridge right now), I think the spicy chicken thai curry is my favorite.
