Kind of overpriced for vegan Chinese takeout, especially when you can get a regular combo at other similar takeout spots with vegan options like braised tofu or spicy eggplant for the usual advertised prices. Seeing my total come to 19.25 before tax made my eyes bug out. That said, we'd made the trip specifically for this place, so I was to determined to find out what made a nearly $20 combo worth it. Shop was already filled with several customers when we walked in. I'll also give them points for the cuteness factor- the counter was stocked with adorable keychains and buttons for sale, and naturally, I caved. The serving size was the classic "stuffed to the high heavens" takeout box, with everything packed in to the brim, so the portion definitely felt beyond generous. It was enough for two meals. I ordered the vegan orange chicken and vegan Mongolian beef with half fried rice and half chow mein. The orange chicken was everything I wanted it to be- tangy, sweet, crispy, and absolutely delicious. I'd gladly order this one again. The Mongolian beef, on the other hand, was unexpectedly and intensely spicy. It caught me so off guard that I lost interest halfway through and ended up leaving most of it behind. Overall, I probably wouldn't make the drive just for another takeout box unless I was seriously craving that vegan orange chicken. Even then, I might just toss some tofu in orange sauce at home and call it a day.

Classic "Chinese Food" sign you know it's going to be bomb. Also has non vegan options too

Food is 5 stars this is the Vegan Panda Express. You can still order egg fried rice à la carte. Pricing is kinda low expensive but worth it if you haven't eaten Chinese food like broccoli beef or orange chicken in awhile. Service can be A LOT better. I would recommend this to anyone from Long Beach, IE or LA to pull up. Very informal community style eating benches inside

Vegan orange chicken, chow mein, fried rice.

Recently found this place and decided to try it. I ordered vegan orange chicken with fried rice and chow mein. My bf ordered orange chicken (meat) and fried rice. The next morning we were both very sick and had intense stomach pain and nausea. I felt nauseous after eating and thought I ate too much so I brushed it off. I should've let it come backup because the pain I felt the next day literally floored me. I could not get up off the floor and spent the day curled into a ball crying in pain. The fact that we both got sick and ate two different foods, concerns me. I wanted to like this place but I just can't. It's a shame that we both got so sick. Please use this review as a warning and if you must try, then make sure you have the next day off just in case.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER !!!!!!!!!! Very rude. Elderly cashier is extremely rude. She Did not want to provide receipt and kept saying she was deaf. I paid with Zelle and said because I paid with Zelle I don't get a receipt. Started arguing and raising her voice at me in front of the long line of customers. The place is Very dirty too I'm surprised they haven't been reported to the city. Food handlers do not wear hair nets & there seems to be no one attending the seating area. 0/10

My friend and I have been here a couple of times and were overcharged the last time...had to ask them to recharge my card. They tried making me pay almost $60+ for something that we usually pay $44 for. So yeah, keep in mind the vegan 1-item is $20 with tax. And the shrimp is absolutely disgusting. It doesn't even resemble food. I had the worst headache from it that went onto the next day, and I couldn't even finish it. It tastes like rubber, and it's the worst vegan food I've ever had. We will NOT be returning as the service is atrocious, and there are a million other Chinese food spots in the area. At first, I thought it was special because it is vegan, but it's not anymore. Beware of being ripped off.

I was craving Chinese food so decided to stop in. This spot is always busy and well maintained, with a very cool vibe. The staff is extremely pleasant, welcoming, and friendly. As for the food, it's very good, probably the best take out in Whittier. The Ingredients are fresh, tasty, and full of flavors. They give huge portions at very reasonable prices. You can't go wrong coming to Pots N Woks when craving authentic Chinese food.

It was me and my GF's first time at Pots n Woks, and we really wish we'd have known about it years ago! Jerry helped us out. He was the nicest person I've ever met working at a restaurant. I didn't catch any other names, but everybody else was really awesome to us too. So anyway, we both got everything vegan: I got orange chicken and chow mein, and it was amazing! I didn't take a pic of mine because it looked so good, I couldn't wait any longer to eat it, lol. My GF took a pic of hers. She got broccoli beef, orange chicken, chow mein, and fried rice. She loved hers too! Let me tell you, the portions they give you will blow your mind! Each plate was under 15 bucks, but there's enough for at least 2 people in each container, maybe 3! I'm not joking! I don't know if you can tell from the pic, but it's a mountain of food! My GF got a boba Thai tea, and it was the biggest Thai tea I've ever seen! It must be about 30 ounces. Please do yourself a favor and go eat there. You won't be disappointed, you will be FULL though! Don't wear your tight pants if you're eating there, seriously.

So dare I say this is hands down the best Chinese food I've ever had? It's true! There is plenty of parking so no need to worry. It's located is a shopping center and it looks pretty freshly renovated. The service here is great, they are super friendly and welcoming. But let's talk about the food, the real deal! I got the combo C. I got the bbq pork, the mushroom chicken, beef broccoli, with half fried rice and chow mien. The food tasted so fresh and delicious, they pack your plate too! This was definitely my favorite Chinese food place of all time.

The Absolute best vegan Chinese food I've ever had!! Always incredible!! 10/10 every time!! Wish there was a location closer to me, but I'll make the drive for now. Must get the orange chicken!

Ask the Community - Pots n' Woks

Are there still low carb options available?

Hi do they still offer catering?

    I believe they do, yes.

Are you on any food delivery apps?

I've ordered Pots n' Woks via Uber Eats -but it will show as 'unavailable' when the restaurant is closed (Mon-Tues i think)

    Is anything gluten free?

No, they no longer have gluten free things on their menu.

What are the vegan proteins made of?

    Mostly soy I believe

Do you have non vegan meats? Like real meats as well as vegan?

Yes! Options for carnivores and vegans LOL

Are the vegan options available to order on the side as while?

Unfortunately not. Their vegan options are the main courses and they make em fresh to order so you gotta wait about 10-20 min (depending on how busy) for the food to be ready :) unless you call ahead. They do have vegan desserts on the side though.

Does anyone have an idea how much a platter of vegan Chao mein and vegan kung pao chicken for about 10 people cost?

All alternative meats cost more than actual meat... it's not far off from Panda Express where you get less food same + price and not vegan nor vegetarian. They give you a lot of food and in my experience vegan isn't cheap. I think their price…

    Any gluten-free options?

    Rice noodles

For the vegan plate is it possible to get half orange chicken and half beef broccoli?

There is no orange chicken or beef broccoli @ Hafez cafe! It's a Persian food not Asian!

What is the vegan walnut shrimp made of?

What is the vegan chicken made out of?

I believe soy and wheat gluten !

Does anyone know how to contact the owner? What's her name?

She is usually there. I would try calling her or showing up.

    Is all the menu vegan?

They have a separate menu of vegan yummyness. They make all the vegan entrees specially for you.

Also, I decided to try boba even though I almost never get it so it's probably been years since I last actually tried it. I thought it would taste fresh since it's not midday and it was chewy but kind of flavorless, which is fine and better than being overly sweet. I thought I'd get 75% sweet because I knew the drink itself might be very bland after trying it. It kind of tastes like it's half sweetened so I guess I made the right choice because that's originally what I was going for like other Boba time cafés there is a kiosk at the front and you could get your rewards points here and I like how the sticker on the cup automatically has my name on it, but actually when I try to print a receipt, nothing came out on the actual paper. The drink itself is pretty good so I will never turn down a visit to It's Boba Time!

After placing my order, I stepped outside to give others space. I came back about 10 minutes later and waited in line so I wouldn't be in the way. When I got to the front, my drink was already ready, but no one acknowledged me. There were three employees, two making drinks and one working the front. The employee at the register when picking up my drink (fair skin, glasses, multiple piercings) avoided eye contact and didn't acknowledge me at all. I had to try to flag someone down, and I wasn't the only one other customers were doing the same. That said, the other female employee who took my order was friendly and kind, which I appreciated. I get that it was busy, but a simple "I'll be right with you" or even eye contact goes a long way. Customer service and communication were definitely lacking during this visit.
