TERRIBLE Shopping Experience for PEOPLE OF COLOR Every time I visit, a Caucasian shop girl at the register treats me like Oprah in Zurich and gives me sub par service. On my last and final visit I was about to spend $1,000 on outdoor furniture. I waited patiently in line while the shop girl scowled at me and helped a Caucasian woman who rudely put down her items in front of me as I stood there. Not sure if this is because I'm Mexican-American or because I'm a lesbian. The silver lining is that I was able to find the EXACT same furniture on Amazon with free shipping for about $100 less per item. Plus, the Sunset Nursery has a far better selection of succulents with better prices and AMAZING service regardless of skin color or sexual orientation. read more

The owner, however, that woman needs to learn from her male employee as to how to be friendlier and with better P/R approach. She should greet customers and not walk right by them as if she herself is another customer and not the owner herself. She appears to send bad vibes and that's unfortunate. The aesthetics of this place truly deserve 5 stars. Everything is very beautiful and thoughtfully arranged. I love that they have so many plant accessories as well as other very beautiful gifts such as bracelets and cards. The one thing about Potted is that it is EXTREMELY over priced. Though everything is beautiful I really don't think that the price tags match the products. Just about any Home Goods/Marshalls/Ross will carry products of the exact same aesthetic as they carry here for much much cheaper. Also, I could see why it has been mentioned that the customer service here isn't that great. I wasn't greeted or made to feel welcome and that was the deal breaker for me from buying a handmade colombian bracelt they had which was surprisingly decent in price. read more

Just got home from this place and I had to leave a review! I was there for a while because I couldn't decide where I wanted to start. I decided to make my own little potted terrarium. They have a nice little area in the back where you have a variety of options on plants, pots, and decorations. I love it! I ended up paying 11$, which is amazing!! I honestly thought it was going to be around 35-40$. Im definitely going to back and bringing my friends and family. The service is mixed, they may be nice to you when trying to get you to purchase, but will change 180 degrees if anything goes wrong or they need to be accountable to you. On another note, their products are marked up quite excessively. They sell a Yard Jockey for $120, there is a comparable product called Yard Butler on Amazon that costs about 10% of the price. Over the past several weeks I have checked out almost every nursery and plant store in my area looking for both shade plants and succulents...it has run the gamut from non English speaking nurseries with dying plants and incorrect labels to super expensive "Cadillac" nurseries. This one however is by far the best. The store itself is open, serene with all sorts of arrangements and variety. They even had succulent I had never seen before!!! And to top it off they had SEVERAL Peperomias to choose from including the variegated variety with pink edging on the leaves! I've been looking for this one for quite a while!!!! The staff genuinely enjoy their jobs and are fun to interact with. The pricing was very reasonable and there were just tons of ideas for potting and arrangements everywhere. These people aren't just selling plants...they're LOVING them! They really set the bar high here. And btw if you wanna go shopping with someone who isn't much into plants there's tons of other items to keep their interest while you geek out! read more

I had to find the wedding gift that was really different, but still something the couple would actually use. AND like. I went to Potted, where I hadn't been in several months, and the friendly worker lady suggested the "Wedding Cake" planter that is really fantastic, amongst all the other nifty gifty stuff. It's like stacked planters that look chic and different. Decorated with some funky cacti, a big purple ribbon, and it's all set. LOVE THIS PLACE! read more

I especially like their beautiful glazed and concrete cylindrical pots that have a more modern feel than anything you'll find at Home Depot or Lowe's. On the day I visited the store they had a variety of plants for sale including philedendrons, snake plants, succulents and other species. Highly recommend this place. read more

I've been going to Potted for years and it's about time I gave it a review. This is one of my favorite stores in Los Angeles. They always have extremely nice and knowledgeable staff. There is something here for everyone and I always see new items each time I visit. Prices can range from "I'm getting a great deal" to "Woah. Let me think about this". This place is fine, but nothing amazing. It's a cute little shop, but service was lacking. There was no one on the floor and when someone finally came out, he wasn't particularly knowledgeable about succulents. The plants they have aren't anything that can't be found all over the place in L.A. At those prices, I was hoping they'd have plants that are less common. I got a couple small plants and some pebbles. There were two people up at the front desk, a man and a woman, and they both just kept staring at their screens as we stood there waiting to check out. The guy finally looked up and while he was polite, I wouldn't say he was friendly. Just the absolute minimal verbal interaction. Overall, not warm or inviting and I will not be going back. read more

Potted is a shop in Atwater village, with beautiful planters and rad little knick knacks perfect for upgrading your average houseplant. The salesperson was super helpful and had a good eye for my design projects. While the plant selection is on the smaller side (I recommend Sunset Nursery for plants), Potted is the place to go for classes, and cool ceramics. read more

I attended a free terrarium potting class yesterday and it was so much fun! I have a black thumb and was apprehensive about whether I could do this. The instructor, Anna ("the chicken lady") made everything very simple. After the class, I potted some cactus into a pot I brought with me and Anna helped me every step of the way. Besides selling all sorts of beautiful pots (especially Gainey), they also have a potting bar at the back which provides all the soil, gravel, etc, you need to pot the new plants you just bought. What an awesome idea! I love doing it there coz I don't have to clean up the mess. There is a nominal fee to do this at the potting bar but so worth it if you don't normally keep gardening supplies. read more
