$30 dlls. For a chilaquiles plate? Idk

$30 dollars per a chilaquiles plate? This is one of the most expensive chilaquiles i eat ever.

Potzolcano is seriously so good! On the weekends it gets super busy with long waits, so weekdays are the best time to come if you want a more relaxed vibe. My husband and I always order the chilaquiles--they're amazing every single time--and their café de olla is the perfect cozy touch. The back patio is my favorite spot, surrounded by greenery and a laid-back atmosphere that makes you feel like you're enjoying a meal in a little hidden garden. It's the perfect place to enjoy authentic Mexican food.

If you want authentic and delicious posole, then this is the place for you. I grew up eating white posole and this reminds me of my childhood and did not dissapoint. I have also tried their chilaquiles con pollo, their mole enchiladas and my favorite, their cafe de olla which you will even want to order to go. The servers are so kind and welcoming. Do not pass on this place. They have a bathroom and small television and there is seating indoor and a small patio outside. Parking is a bit tough as it is a small shopping center. Even so, I have never had any issues. I highly recommend this place as it is one of my top posole places in orange county.

Very good Mexican Restaurant! Came here for the Chilaquiles for brunch and it comes with a coffee, fruit, and bread for free!! Additionally the plates are very big so one will fill you up! Server was very sweet as well.

Although the wait to be seated is always long, whether the place is full or not, the food is always great which is why we keep returning. This time we tried their Enchiladas del Patron and Enchiladas Queretanas. The Patron were amazing! Plate was left clean. The chipotle cream sauce is not too spicy or creamy, just right. The Queretanas have a great flavor but for my liking I thought they were too dry. If they were only dipped in salsa a bit more, they would have tasted like home enchiladas from Jalisco made from Guajillo chile.

Great food, great service, but the piece de rèsistance is the café de olla. It just hits the spot. They bring you a bolillo with the coffee.. dip your bread in it, OMG! LOVE IT!

They have a nice outside patio also.

Hello to all. Just stopped by this place with friend to have breakfast. Being that this is my first time, I'll be honest the service and ambience was great. The place inside is fully decorated nicely. After looking at the menu and prices. The entrees are a little pricey but you get your moneys worth especially if you order there café de olla. They'll keep bringing it if you ask. I had the Emfrijoladas con chorizo but you can order them with panela cheese or chicken if you don't want chorizo. It was delicious. They have an outside patio also.

Pozole de pollo. Notice the date 2013! Yup, we've been coming here for over 11 years. Wouldn't change a thing!

What time do you close during weekdays?

they close at 6pm on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They are closed on Wednesday. I don't know about Monday

    Do they have gift certificates?

Hi Cami! We do not have gift certificates

Do they have red pozole? Not a huge fan of green.

It's actually Jalisco style (white) Pozole "blanco" but they serve red salsa on the side - it's super delicious!

The photos caught our eye, but they don't even do justice to the actual experience. The modest facade completely hides the gem buried within; the moment you step through the doors, you are transported into a beautiful, vibrant atmosphere. Despite arriving just before 7:00 PM on a busy Saturday night, we were seated incredibly fast. We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Karla (with a 'K'). Her enthusiasm, attentiveness, and deep knowledge of the menu were top-notch--truly a model for how the entire service industry should operate. As for the food? Out of this world. From the presentation to the flavor, the attention to detail is flawless. It is completely clear that Rosa Madera was created by someone with immense vision and heart, and they've managed to find a staff that shares that exact same passion. We are so hooked that we will absolutely be making the trip back from San Diego with the sole purpose of eating here again. To make matters worse, one of our meals was completely forgotten. The service was extremely slow throughout the entire visit. Every time we needed something, whether it was a refill, an update, or assistance, the wait felt excessive. The restaurant may have potential because the food itself was flavorful, but it seemed like they were either understaffed or unprepared for the number of customers they had. Another disappointment was the drink selection. We were told they don't have a liquor license, so hard alcohol isn't available. Their sodas were canned, and when we asked for juice for the kids, they told us they were completely out. As for the atmosphere, the restaurant is on the smaller side and felt more like a converted house than a traditional restaurant, complete with a fireplace and television in the dining area. The food had good flavor, which is the only reason I'm giving more than one star. Unfortunately, the long wait times, missing meal, lack of drink options, and poor service made the overall experience disappointing.

Thanks to Restaurant Week, we stumbled upon this gem, and we are so grateful. The hospitality alone would earn five stars. But then came the food. The tacos? Absolutely exceptional. The steak was tender and flavorful in a way that reminded me of eating throughout Mexico, you could actually taste the meat. A light, gentle pickle of vegetables on top, minimal cheese, nothing heavy or greasy. These are not the American-style tacos drowning in a pound of melted cheese. These are the real thing. The beans were lovely, the rice was solid, and my passion fruit winearita drink was genuinely a treat. Restaurant Week gave us the perfect low-pressure reason to try somewhere new, and we walked out with a new favorite. We'll be back for lunch. We'll be back for dinner. And yes, Taco Tuesday, we'll absolutely be back for that.

He took our orders on his computer order system. But then he came back and said it didn't register so needed to redo some of our orders. He then told us his shift was ending and another girl would be taking over service of our tables. Then the food started coming out. Some plates we didn't even order. Some plates were extra plates of what we ordered. Tortillas came with the plates and I ordered corn tortillas, but they gave me flour. I asked for corn and returned the flour. The server said he has to charge me for it. I asked why? I didn't get what I ordered. I shouldn't have to pay extra for something I'm supposed to get, but didn't. He initially didn't understand, but finally got it. Food was good. One person's carne asada was burnt and tough, but others said what they ordered was good. Glass of wine was a bit skimpy for the price. Then the bill came. We triple checked the bill to make sure we weren't charged for anything we didn't order since there were so many plates that came out that we didn't order. Turned out a plate of chile verde was on the bill that we didn't order. Had our new server take it off the bill, but the automatic 18% gratuity didn't change. It was based off the original total because she took off the cost of the extra charge as a discount not a deleted item. The bill was finally cleared, but it should not have been so much work for us to make sure the bill was correct. In the end, consensus was the food was good, but the service was dysfunctional, between the multiple mis-orders and multiple requests for napkins, utensils, tortillas, and chips and the questions about the bill. Maybe okay for smaller groups or if you do go with a larger group, ask to do separate bills.

I noticed a customer in front of us ordered a kids plate which included two street tacos and rice and beans. That's what I ended up ordering with Carne Asada and chorizo. The burrito was solid sized, I was definitely full after eating it. Great seasoned potato wedges inside, tasty egg, and plenty of bacon and sausage. Only thing with the bacon and sausage was that the bacon was actually bacon bits. I'm pretty sure they are pre bagged bacon bits, judging by the extreme salty taste...they overpowered the sausage inside so all I was really getting was bacon bits. There was supposed to be chipotle mayo inside as well, but I don't think mine had it. Or it was also overpowered by the bacon bits. Burrito was grilled on both sides and wrapped up nicely. By the time I got it, it was still super hot. The green and red salsas are also delicious.
