Mom 'n pop (possibly hybrid food/truck hole in the wall) on the east side of Culver City. I tried Poutine Brother's signature dish. It's short-braised ribs with like rich Au Jus atop French fries (possibly baked????) with scallions, some sort of cheese/dumpling. Apparently, it's like a Quebec or French counterweight to Peruvian Lomo Saltado. For those who want to see the similarities, Lomo Saltado, is chunks of grilled sirloin steak, red onions, tomatoes, cilantro with lots of salt and pepper with a double dosing of carbs: rice and potato fries. Both Poutine and Lomo Saltado's have similar qualities. The dish was fine. The braised short ribs were cut a little 'pulled' almost like pulled pork. I like braised short ribs cut a little thicker. Fries were a little soggy -- even without the added au jus. Would be interesting to garnish some toasted bread with the short-braised spread with the scallions and cheese dumplings with a dash of au jus. Would come back to try their other dishes sometime. read more

I liked this cool looking truck on mid Wilshire across from the LACMA. I've had the Canadian specialty poutine before in Hollywood which I liked, so I decided to try this out. I was really impressed with the cheerful, prompt service. I ordered the classic poutine(fries, cheese curds, gravy) with bacon add on. I was at an event at the Rose Bowl this weekend and I was excited to see them there. You have no idea how much I wanted poutine. I went to Canada last Summer and I have been craving poutine and beef patties ever since I came back! Unfortunately most of the spots are in LA or in the OC and I live in the SGV, but we don't have them there so I for sure wanted to try them when I had the chance. I even saw them featured by the Try Guys on their YouTube channel and I was a bit familiar with their menu. I originally wanted the Chicken Tikka Masala poutine, but it wasn't being sold that day so I settled for the Beef Brisket for $14. My lord I WAS A HAPPY CAMPER. This was the comfort food I needed especially in the fall with it being cold. The brisket with the gravy, cheese curds, and the fries just hit the spot. Maybe one thing to suggest is having more fries or make the portion a little bigger, but fortunately I wasn't paying for my meal. If I'm in LA or in Culver City I'll make sure to stop by. The owner recoomended these two dishes as their most popular! We were not disappointed! Chicken tikka masala is small pieces of white chicken breast marinated in masala curry gravy sauce. The chicken is cooked perfectly, moist and tender. Masala gravy is very light, so you don't feel like eating curry. Short rib is braised in Harissa gravy sauce. The meat is very tender, sweet and spicy. The sauce has a good kick but not overwhelming. The portion is good and price is reasonable, about $10 per Poutine. We ordered the Short Rib Poutine with a side of Fried Chicken Skins. The poutine was served piping hot and fresh. The first thing I noticed upon taking a bite was how well the fries were prepared. The outside was fantastically crispy and salty. The potato on the inside was fluffy and light - perfection. I went for the perfect bite next which included fries, short rib, gravy, and cheese. The braised short rib was fatty, succulent, and flavorful. The cheese melted beautifully and seemed to meld everything together like a beautiful piece of art. The gravy is what stood out to me the most. The harissa gravy added a slight acidic tang to the poutine which complemented the fattiness of the short rib and elevated the poutine in a way that I've never seen done before. Lastly, the fried chicken skins (additional $1) were the cherry on top and added a wonderful layer of texture and flavor that was reminiscent of eating fried chicken with gravy. It is tater tots, Wisconsin white cheddar curds, homemade brown gravy, ham, fried egg, drizzle of maple syrup and fresh chives. I added the spicy option for the tots, bacon and jalapeños. It was very good. They do not skimp on the toppings. You get a lot of everything. I was a little worried about the sweetness from the syrup but it was subtle enough to not be a problem.
