We walked in to find a completely empty restaurant, save on table. It was a pretty day so four tables outside were occupied. Keep in mind, this place is huge! It was a far cry from the bustling place I visited a few years back and on a weekday as well. I noticed a few items on the menu "were no longer being served" but menus were not updated. Service was friendly but slow. I ordered the fig & prosciutto flatbread which was excellent. I'm still curious as to what's changed-perhaps the novelty of other restaurants has stolen patrons? Maybe Prasino needs to up their game to stick around. I'd hate to see it go as there are some good/healthy options. read more

Prasino - So good! - New American Near Me - La Grange, Illinois

Since our first visit to Prasino, we have been back 2 more times for breakfast. Our experience has not matched our first visit. I had the city farm omelet the first time and the florentine crepes the second time. Neither one had much flavor & I didn't eat even half of each. At the end of each meal, I really did not want to take the leftovers, but felt bad having them throw out so much food so I took it home (& threw it out after a few days...somehow that relieved my guilt). I can't recall what my wife had, but she had a similar reaction each time. Nothing special about the meals. Our daughter had gluten-free pancakes, which she liked. The meals are really expensive, so when you have a "meh" reaction to the food you feel like you got a little ripped off. I am willing to pay the higher prices if the food is good. The only reason I am not grading them lower is that I support their mission of farm-to-table food and the fact they have gluten-free and vegetarian options for my daughter and wife. I hope they improve their breakfast, since the dinner we had there was great. read more

This was my second time at Prasino and now I know why I came back, great place all the way around. The restaurant is big, decorated nicely and its open and airy feel is great. I have only been here for breakfast. First time I had the chilaquiles and this recent time I got the short rib skillet. Both items were absolutely delicious. The ingredients are fresh, flavorful and just yummy. My short rib skillet had onions, peppers, potatoes and cheese topped with 2 eggs. The meat was perfectly cooked and the potatoes were fantastic. It was also very filling. I ordered pancakes instead of toast and those were amazing too. To wash down my meal I ordered a bloody mary that was very good, had the just right amount of kick to it. Our server was very attentive and very nice. I must go back to try them out for lunch and dinner. Next time hopefully sit outside on their patio. read more

We visited Prasino for brunch. I checked OpenTable and they had a few reservations open so I figured we would not have a wait but we did. I knew I should have made a reservation but I figured we were only half an hour away so what could change? So expect a wait if you go after 10 on a weekend. The wait was about 20-25 minutes, as quoted. It's fairly average looking but I found the bar to be strange. They had TVs behind the bar but no stools. Like no one could sit there but there were TVs that seemed to invite people to that space. Our server promptly came over and took our drink order and brought a mimosa and a bloody. Both were just okay. She had some food recommendations as well, which we took. However, one low spot was that our server disappeared for quite some time after we ordered food. It was evident that my drink was empty for a while and even when she reappeared, she went to a few tables before coming back to us. She was very nice but it didn't seem that she had so many tables that she should have taken such a long time. You would think she'd be anxious to refill me hoping to add to the tip. When she did return I got a strawberry mimosa, which I preferred to the regular mimosa. The bloody was okay but it really lacked spice. I tried the chilaquiles. I've had chilaquiles at many spots and these just really fell short for me. They had chicken as opposed to pork or duck and the chicken had a decent flavor but it seemed a bit fatty although I will say it was tender. The chip ratio was off as in there were close to a bag of chips on there but not the other things to go along with it. More sauce and cheese would be preferred. Chilaquiles should have a layered sort with a few chips in between for texture and to absorb the fatty goodness but this was more like a plate of nachos without a ton of fixins. So a few components were okay but nothing was great. My husband got the pretzel croissant french toast. It sounded cool but we were really unsure where the pretzel was. It was basically croissant french toast and cause the croissant is so light, it got soggy. Also the sauce that accompanied was just clawingly sweet. The dish was not very balanced, which is what I can say for my dish as well. Overall some average or below average food and not great service either. I wanted to like this place more and I'll give another try but so far underwhelmed. read more

My new favorite brunch place! The whole La Grange downtown area has become super cute and lots of new restaurants. Prasino is definitely a welcomed addition. Went there for breakfast and didn't know what to expect, but definitely very pleasantly surprised. The menu is quite large for a organically conscious place. There's a bit of everything from skillet to pancakes, crepes and other tasty treats. Since there was 7 of us, I got to try a bit of everything :) As a savory lover, I ordered the "Bacon Stack" (YUM~~~~~) It was chopped crispy bacon w/ spinach, cheese, and sunny side up egg on thick cut bread. OMG, I don't think I've ever had any breakfast item so good and well balanced. You would expect the dish to be on the salty side due to the bacon and cheese, but it was not at all! Even as I got more full with each bite, I couldn't stop eating. Every dish I tried was equally as good. Major props to the chef! This is a place I would definitely go back to over and over again. Tried this out for brunch. Definitely make reservations if it's a brunchy holiday (Father's/Mother's Day). The vegan pancakes were very good, and they didn't freak out if you needed more syrup or margarine. Also, don't call it margarine, because they only know it as "vegan butter." I forgot to check if the chocolate chips in the pancakes are vegan or not though. Deduct points from my vegan cred now. The vegan benedict was better than Karen's on Green, but not as good as Pick me Up. It did include a nonstandard bean burgery patty though, if that makes a difference for you. It was also good that they made a vegan hollaidaise, as some places omit that. For vegans, they seem to have the most options for breakfast. This is more of a check-the-menu-first restaurant, because the options are limited, even if they are good. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Both bathrooms have changing tables. Outdoor seating was nice, even on the busy street. Parking was not too difficult on the side streets, but there is a garage behind as well. read more

I grew up in La Grange and have since moved away for school. I am, however, back there pretty regularly, and I was astonished by the general atmosphere of the place. Really, really California yuppie. But I'll have to hand it to the folks at Prasino - I loved my meal here. The restaurant looks amazing. It's huge and super clean-looking. The bathroom has some new-fangled "air blade" hand dryer that made a toddler cry while I was in there. The waitstaff brings you water in clear glass bottles that are casual, but very expensive looking. My food was great; I had some sort of tofu wrap with a peanut pasta salad on the side. Presentation was very neat and clean, and food was delicious. A note on service: my father was a little out it when he was there with me, and demanded water - rather rudely - from the manager (instead of from our waitress, who was plenty attentive). I wished the earth would swallow me up for a second, but there wasn't even a moment of discomfort. The manager brought the water and was all politeness, and there didn't seem to be any negative consequences for the waitress, who hadn't done anything wrong. Props for that sort of team mentality. Really delicious organic Greek restaurant! Everything is super fresh and has the farm to table feel. I had their Greek salad and a flatbread. Both were outstanding. Bonus points for the massive outdoor section. It really ties the whole place together. Just wish the one in the city never shut down. It was equally as good. read more

We have been hearing great things about Prasino for a while so we decided to try it for breakfast finally....overall....I would say it was basically OK. When you first arrive it is much more upscale looking on the inside then I imagined, it seems a bit too modern and fancy vs. their basic message of earthy and local organic slant. Our server was less than interested in us basically she was ok but very apathetic on the whole. She was very sullen and not really all that warm so that really didn't make me thrilled right away. They have a great selection of unusual breakfast entrees and they have a great juice and coffee bar. I had the spicy tomato and it was great...just like a virgin bloody mary..(which I LOVE). I thought their prices were a bit high but after seeing the decor...I'm sure they need all the money they can get to pay for the huge overhead :) I had the Florentine crepes and my husband had the chorizo stack. Mine was very bland, thick and didn't have much taste, I was pretty disappointed. My husband got the wrong dish and after telling our server they fixed the problem quickly so basically the customer service portion was excellent. The manager quickly resolved the issue and even comped our drinks :) Based on my food I wouldn't go back but when I tried my husband's chorizo dish...it was very good! I think I would give them 1 more try and go with either the skillet or the stack. So in closing I was ready to say PRASI NO NO NO...but after tasting my husbands food I think I would go back one more time to maybe see if it was just a fluke. read more

First of all, let me say (or write really) that I found the interior of Prasino to be beautiful. I too am impressed by the owner's decision to "go green" as it were in terms of using recovered and sustainable materials in their build out of this space. But, I didn't go for the bamboo chairs. I went for food, not to make the Earth a better place (not that I am objectionable to that). Speaking of those chairs, I found them to be exceedingly uncomfortable. They are almost totally flat, and are unforgiving. Our appetizer was marvelous. We had the lettuce wraps. The food went downhill from there. I ordered the Beef burger, which was marginal at best. My wife ordered the black bean burger. It tasted good (I had a bite), but my wife had to use the bathroom urgently as a result of eating it. My kids were served macaroni and cheese noodles that were very long. Seriously. They were longer than my six year old is tall. Not kid friendly. I thought the prices were high too. $3+ for their in house organic (read: we get to charge an exorbitant price) soda? What? A $5 smoothie in a 8oz. cup? Yes really. The smoothie wasn't even that good. We also tried the kid pizza. It was a sad attempt at a thin crust wood fired style pie that an adult might appreciate, but my kid just couldn't eat it. Came here on a Friday night. The staff is friendly and the food is great! It's fresh and organic. To start, we ordered the mussels in the white sauce. The portion was extremely generous and the mussels tasted fantastic! The also ordered the steak skewers (one order comes with about 5 sticks), which was a decent portion. The steak is cooked to your liking. My brother ordered the lamb meatballs, which he mentioned that it was very juicy with lots of flavor. For my entree, I ordered the short rib. The cauliflower souffle was to die for! You couldn't even tell it was cauliflower! My short rib was ridiculously tender (just like how it should be) and the Swiss chard paired well with the dish. I ordered tea and the waitress was very attentive and made sure my cup was refilled with hot water the entire night. Overall, I don't have any complaints about this place. The food was very, very , good, great atmosphere (perfect for a date night or dinner with friends), and the service was awesome. Oh, they also offer free valet. Prasino is a "green" restaurant, meaning they serve food that is organic, supportive of local growers and in environmentally conscious environments. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but I've only had lunch here. It's a cute little place downtown LaGrange, and it has a small outdoor eating section. The decor is very modern, fresh, simple. It's rather spa-like with their use of the color green and bamboo decorations. We ate inside and the biggest downfall was that it was VERY loud inside. We had a reservation but still had to wait 10 minutes or so. The service was on the slow side but the restaurant was packed. The food itself was great. I had a chicken salad sandwich, my mom had a beet salad and my mother-in-law had the salmon salad. No complaints at all from anyone The menu was interesting and they had a number of good drinks that were unique to Prasino. I had the ginger-lime soda, and tried the ginger-lime lemondrop. Both were refresing and interesting...in a good way. Overall, it was a good first experience. I'd be interested to try breakfast and dinner there sometime. read more

The food was awesome! Went through with my coworkers to celebrate a big month. The place is fairly pricey but the food is well worth it. I chose it because they are vegan friendly and I've eaten at there other location in wicker park. But never went there for lunch. I had the seitan tacos which were awesome and a couscous salad, best couscous I've ever had. My coworkers had a steak sandwich, black bean burger and ahi salad, all very good. It was so good that we will probably have our holiday lunch there. For dessert I had to try the vegan, gluten free brownie. I had 1/2 at the restaurant and my wife who is gluten free had the other half. Everything was great, food, service, the whole package. Prasino is definitely unafraid in attempting their "vibe." The place feels like a chic bamboo bathroom at some foreign hotel. A bit much for my taste, but I have to say, pretty cool lookin'. We had the Blue Crab nachos which were pretty good - on a potato chip instead of tortilla, was tasty. Also had the crab cakes which were delicious. Nice chunks of crab, not too much breading...I had the Pinkus Hefeweizen, and the Organic Tripel to wash things down, which were both awwwwweeesome. We also tried the steak salad, which was perfect. Blue cheese and greens with some of the most delicious steak I've had in a while. I've had Prasino bookmarked foreverrr (real time: maybe a year?), and I had the hardest time deciding whether to try them out for breakfast or dinner. Well, once I noticed that Prasino was one of my oldest bookmarks (on a Thursday evening), the next meal occurring would be breakfast on Friday morning. Lucky me, we were both off of work for the holiday. I love eating breakfast out. It makes me feel like I'm on vacation, because that's the only time we really eat a hearty breakfast. The decor at Prasino adds to that vacation feeling that gave me a west coast vibe: light wood used in tables and flooring, white walls, and lots of wide windows that allow in tons of light. Their menu, a "farm to bar" concept, contains no Coke or Pepsi products and focuses on local, sustainable food. The beverage menu is enticing. Lots of cocktails with unique ingredients like blueberry jam, smoothies, and house-made sodas. I eyeballed some cocktails but chose an elderflower soda instead. I was a little misinformed - the waitress said something about house-made sodas, including a ginger ale, but I was served elderflower soda from a bottle. Dominic P. had a cocktail which tasted like a healthy, freshly squeezed juice, with vodka added. I wouldn't mind coming back here just for the cocktails! Who knew that somehow, some way, a menu item like PRETZEL CROISSANT FRENCH TOAST could fall into the "local, sustainable" category? I see items like this and I don't ask any questions. It was amazing, with the perfect amount of caramel and white chocolate drizzled on the plate. I also had a side order of the chicken sausage, which balanced the sweetness of the French toast. The sweetness didn't get to me at all, the way a sticky sweet apple pancake at your typical diner would. Dominic P. had the short rib skillet, served with a side of pancakes. I was very excited when I first learned this place was coming to LG. Organic local food supply, eco-friendly., etc. ... all very important to me! Now, admittedly I have only been once for lunch (and once just for a smoothie) and I will give it another try. After all, the food was indeed tasty. Nothing mind blowing in uniqueness or execution but very yummy. Only, here's the problems... As someone else stated below, I have heard (second hand info mind you) through the grapevine (hah, a foodie metaphor) that when vendor supplies run low, you may be served non-organics and not informed. Big no-no! You better inform customers and probably reduce the menu price! Actually, now that I think of it... I could be wrong but as I recall, there was no info on the menu saying what was actually organic and what was not. Nothing about the origin of their meats (if raised hormone/antibiotic free). Perhaps they've intentionally done so to avoid this very subject. A review below suggests this info was once there(?). Drinks, smoothies, juices... all very expensive. Had a pricey smoothie, it was tiny and just 'meh' in flavor. Decor and attitude? Is it modern hip and nice inside? Sure, but feels 'just slightly' pretentious and just looks a bit like everything was ordered straight out of a single upscale catalog. Our server was fine at first but at the end completely disappeared. Not because he was busy, there was only one other table. I want to be happy there is a place doing organics and eco-friendly stuff but after meeting one of the owners (don't get me wrong, she was pleasant and nice) I was left with the impression, and every single instinct tells me, that this is more about the appearance; about selling the pretense of eco-/organic lifestyle to the local yuppie crowd, rather than the actual spirit and love of it. So in conclusion... yes the food tastes good / skeptical about the 'ethics' / only very mildly annoyed by the apparent pretentiousness. read more

After a recommendation from a friend, and with guests in town to meet for breakfast, we decided to try out Prasino. Didn't this place used to be a Hollywood Video? Regardless of what the space used to be, it's now gorgeous....and huge! I appreciated that local organic spin, but was looking for a good meal and was not disappointed. I ordered the city farm omelet, which was fantastic (and I now make it at home all of the time) and everyone in our group of 4 seemed to really enjoy our food. Service was fine, although it wasn't busy at all when we went. Prices were higher than your average breakfast joint, but they weren't so bad considering their local organic products (although I'm not sure how to tell from their menu what ingredients are actually local and/or organic). All in all, we walked out the door happy and full. Unfortunately the next day when I was looking at my banking transactions, the charge for our meal was quite a bit higher than I remembered, so I checked my receipt. It turns out that we had been charged an extra $30. I immediately called the restaurant and talked to the manager on duty who apologized for the mistake and mentioned that it must have been because they were very busy that morning (they weren't) and that he would have to forward it to their accountant. The next day their accountant called me and indicated that they had found the error and that the waitress had tacked on an extra $30 to her tip. She (the accountant) didn't believe that it was anything done on purpose and was probably just a mistake because they were busy that morning (once again, they weren't). Regardless, the charge was reversed and all was back to normal. I do want to be clear that I am not under any impression nor am I accusing anyone involved in the mistake of doing anything purposefully wrong, but just thought that my full experience should be posted. I will definitely be willing to revisit Prasino again and barring any other strange problems might even become a full-fledged fan. read more

Prasino can come across as the type of restaurant that is too good for the average Joe. It's got that hoity toity, almost pretentious feel to it that made me a little skeptical to try it. But thanks to Yelp, and the sheer number of reviews this place has (for a restaurant in the 'burbs, over 200 is quite good!), we decided to give it a try. The menu isn't huge, but there were so many items that stood out that sounded worth trying! It was so hard to decide, but I ended up going with the braised beef short ribs, based upon a recommendation from our server. Everything on the plate was so delicious- the short ribs tender, the spinach flavorful, and the roasted cauliflower gratin sort of rocked my world. It's one of those things you try and then want to make at home. I loved it! My hubby had the cod, and the carrot ginger sauce it's served with was also amazing! I tried a bite of his cod with the sauce and I'd totally order it on a future visit (and I hate fish!). For a beverage, I went with the strawberry lemonade, made in house, and it was refreshing, but subtle. Sometimes homemade lemonade can be really tart. This wasn't, and it was actually quite good. We debated whether we should head across the street to Cold Stone for dessert, or take a look at Prasino's dessert menu. Ultimately we decided to stay and try the molten chocolate lava cake. It was okay, but nothing spectacular. Lastly, I've seen a lot of complaints about service. Our server was PHENOMENAL. I wish I would've remembered her name. She was attentive, super sweet, and took time to explain the menu, and a little about their philosophy. All in all, I'm a fan. I'm sorry to say, we had a sub-par experience for lunch today. Serigo was our server and he was pretty horrible. We waited forever to be greeted, he forgot drinks and never refilled them, messed up our order and took forever to bring pretty much everything. My Mom had a problem with her dish and he just kind of stared at her and didn't offer any apologies. 20 minutes later he came back and offered to take it off the bill. That was nice but it would've been nicer if a manager came over to take care of the issue. read more

I met two of my gal pals for lunch and fell in love with the place. It is open and spacious. I would have loved to sit in the patio, but it was a tad bit chilly for an outside culinary experience. The fish tacos were fresh and flavorful and the bulgar salad was super tasty. I found myself wishing for a second helping. The black bean burger was not as much of a hit. The patty was too mushy and could have used more flavor. The waitress was difficult to locate, while we were there; but she was very helpful when it came to the menu. I am glad we didn't feel the need to rush, but we couldn't locate our waitress when we wanted to pay. This is a fine place to visit when you are on the La Grange strip and are in the mood for a healthy meal. read more

I walked into this restaurant and thought it was a very high class restaurant where i would be paying a $100 lunch. I'm sure the dinner service is up there, but the lunch was surprisingly affordable. We were looking for healthy and this is definitely the place! My friend and I both ordered salads, and you get a good amount for the price. We also ordered crab cakes for an appetizer and I wasnt too thrilled with it, but how fancy and awesome can you get with crab cakes if you think about it. I was super stoked to see the different selections of juice that you could get, especially that they made it themselves. I had ordered a tropical juice with coconut flavors, and it was super delcious, but warm. My friend's was also warm. I'm not sure why it was served that way, or why you would even serve warm juice, knowing that most juices are served cold. I had to knock a star off for that, sorry. Other than that, the decor is very nice and clean, the glasses are slanted and cute. I would definitely go back. read more

With out question this is the best organic restaurant I have ever been too.....also it is the only organic restaurant I have ever been to. Anyway, it is at the top! The actually restaurant is what I would describe as woodsy-mod. It is not really my style, but you can tell that they put a ton of thought into this place. I'm more of a divebar--locals pub kind of guy. I wouldn't feel comfortable eating here with cargo short, flip flops, and a cubs T-shirt on. I would feel like I have to dress up to go here. Anyway, it is a very nice place. The drinks were very interesting. I had a organic wheat beer. I can't say that I have ever had a organic beer, and it was amazing. I love places that have beers that I have never even seen before.` I didn't really know what to order, so I went with the lamb sandwich. Lamb can be a little gamey sometimes, but none of that here. The lamb was tender, flavorful, and clean tasting..if that makes sense. I will defiantly keep Prasino in mind when I need a place to take some of my crunchy friends. read more

There were 4 of us in our party, and we showed up at an odd hour between lunch and dinner. We did not know until we left that we ordered off of the much more limited lunch menu. No prob...we will give it another go. The place is spectacularly clean and sophistocated, though the music was too loud and came directly from a speaker overhead. When asked to turn it down, the manager said he didn't have control over it..? We each ordered different items and all were tasty, presented well, and priced appropriately. I was not a fan of the calamari appetizer, but I seemed to be the only one who wasn't. Bottom line: It is a MUST to try it. I predict you will be thinking about the menu for days afterward and will gravitate back. There simply is nothing like it in the burbs. read more

After going to school at the RMU campus in Orland Park, you get tired of the food options in that area very quickly. We had the time to head to LaGrange since my friend and I were aware that they had all these small upcoming/exciting restaurants. After passing by Prasino, the "Go Green" on their awnings caught my attention and we decided to randomly check it out (great decision, btw) since I am a pescetarian. Atmosphere: The place is surprisingly very large! We parked in the parking garage near by (which is free) and walked on the main sidewalk past the building to get to main south entrance....we were shocked on how long it is. It is VERY spacious and clean on the inside. I really liked the atmosphere, it was calm, cool, modern, and eco-friendly :] Service: Great from the start. We were totally unaware on what the menu had to offer or the prices, so we walked in and just simply asked to take a look at the menu. We were kindly handed both the breakfast and lunch menu. We only had to look at it for a few brief moments before already deciding that their are a ton of menu options we wanted to try out. Our waitress was friendly and informative and staff was always there to help each other out and refill our drinks when necessary. Food came out at the right time, not too early and not too late. The hostess (or owner, not sure) even brought us a dinner menu to look at it later on in the meal since we were new! Food: We both opted for a breakfast entree as well as the pei mussel appetizer from the lunch menu. They were good, but like typical mussels, don't fill you up, which is fine. It came with grilled bread which was awesome to dip into the sauce they were baked in. I ordered the carrot cake pancakes. They were fantastic. Fluffy pancakes with shredded carrots and golden raisins baked in, with a sweet cream cheese glaze over them...yummy. My friend had the southwest skillet which he loved as well. I had a cappuccino which was frothy and good, and my friend had the acai soda which was a bit overpriced at $5.50.... i would suggest just sticking with coffee or something more simple. He said it tasted kind of like a cough syrup consistency. I signed up for their points card because we are definitely planning to return, especially to try out the dinner menu! I've been to Prasino's a couple of times. And I've never had an entree that I didn't like...but this time was the exception. Their service was good. The ambience and decor is contemporary. And its in the suburbs! We ordered chicken chilaquiles, traditional eggs benedict, spicy feta omelette, chocolate peanut butter crepes, classic french toast with berries and florentine crepes. Everything was good except for their crepes. I first noticed it in my chocolate peanut butter crepes, it was the weirdest after taste and I couldn't even finish. My friend who had ordered the florentine crepes ate everything inside the crepes and left the crepes. I think its safe to say the batter used for the crepes had something going on with it. I hope this gets fixed! Otherwise it would be a solid brunch place in LaGrange. read more

Downtown LaGrange is so cute and this breakfast place was the perfect compliment to a cute town. We got there early and didn't have to wait. The coffee was great! My husband had the salted caramel croissant French toast that tasted like a deep fried doughnut it was sooo good! I had a dog and prosciutto omelet that was also delicious. We will definitely be back and will be sending friends here as well! read more

Decor - beautiful Concept - admirable Food - okay, although my skirt steak was chewy at best. Service - reprehensible. It took 45 minutes for our appetizers (soup and edemame). We were almost done with the appetizers when we were asked if we would like our entree order to go in. Uh, yeah! 90 minutes after being seated our dinner finally got to the table. When we complained to the manager/owner/whatever-he-was the blame was put on us. Eventually we were comped the appetizers and the kids meals. My wife says they did this only after they admitted their fault; I say the comps should have been offered immediately. Next time I want good service I'll go anywhere else. read more

Walked in at 5:30 thinking it should be a fine service experience. A few tables were seated, and there were wait staff and door staff standing about chatting. Was seated immediately, but had to flag down someone for attention after sitting for a long while. Asked for a taste of the wine before ordering a bottle. Clean. Modern. Elegant. Prasino is a gem located in downtown LaGrange, which has a ton of cute storefronts and restaurants. The outside was very deceiving as to how HUGE the place is as well! And, yet it was warm and inviting. When I walked into this restaurant, I felt I had been transported to the West Coast. It had a very beachy, environmentalist-friendly vibe. Apparently, all the decor is from a former race track, and the lighting fixtures are made from recycled cardboard. Pretty cool! My friend and I agreed to hit up this spot for a late breakfast/early brunch on Saturday. The beverage menu had a multitude of options from fresh fruit smoothies (I'll be getting one next time), juices, kombucha and, of course teas and coffees. I ordered the white chocolate latte and my friend ordered a regular cup o joe. My coffee arrived froathy, hot and very flavorful. I was so overwhelmed with the menu, I had to ask for a little more time. There were so many options of sweet and savory, and I couldn't tell what my tastebuds were craving. I selected the chocolate nutella crepes with bananas and strawberries and a side order of the chicken apple sausage. My friend ordered the City Farm Omelet with egg whites and added avocado. It looked delicious. It's on my list of "what to order next!" They have a variety of different stacks, skillets, omelets and frittatas, crepes, waffles, benedicts and more! Now, you know why I asked for a few extra minutes! The service was impeccable, as was the food. Plus, it didn't break the bank! The tab with gratuity was $21 per person. I can't wait to go back again, and even during another meal time. The reviews have raved how good the other food is for lunch and dinner. So I know we can't expect its soon-to-open Wicker Park/Bucktown location to follow suit, but hello -- free valet at the La Grange location?!?! This place had me at hello. Love the decor (clean/minimalist) and overall vibe of this place...it's places like this that remind us suburbanites that we don't have it so bad after all. Solid menu full of organic foods - we tried a number of things and everything was really well-prepared and full of flavor. So go in and enjoy some healthy yet satisfying eats and amazing cocktails or organic microbrews. Highly recommend the Kombucha Berry Martini. Or a couple of them. read more

Green is not just a trendy buzzword here, but also the name of the restaurant itself, and they will let you know 100 different ways just how responsible they are trying to be, from notes in the menu, to stacks of cards on the table breaking down the numerous ways Prasino is trying to do good. Normally when a place tries to sell me on how 'green" they are, I start wondering at what expense (in this case, it seems to be monetary). Fortunately at Prasino, the food makes you feel as good, if not better, than the mission of the owners. I was in with a large group for brunch, and the service was spot-on. The reservation was upped from 8 to 12 with little notice and this info was received by the staff with a smile and a "No problem!" The server and bussers were simultaneously always there clearing, refilling, and checking in, and also barely noticeable as conversations bounced around the table. The food was really great. I had a short rib stack was the short ribs, onions, peppers, sunny side up eggs, cheddar cheese, and poblano cream sauce, and it was out of this world. Others raved about their food as well. The prices are on the high side - $9.50 bloody Mary, for starters, though the food was great and everyone left with happy consciouses, so I suppose there's some sort of trade off. I've been here for breakfast and dinner. For breakfast I had a fritatta with avocado and cheese... awesome! I had extra to take home and let my sister try some... she brought her family the next day for breakfast and ordered the same thing! As for dinner, everything I've had has been excellent. Their burgers, chicken caprese sandwich, lobster roll, and margherita flat bread have all been great. I've always had extras to bring home and am so excited to eat them the next day. I tried their wheatberry salad as a side instead of potatoes, and was pleasantly surprised. Service has usually been pretty good, prices are fair to borderline pricy. Will go back again! read more

Went to Prasino with my mom last night after her friend made mention of it. I'm vegetarian (pescetarian, really) and Mom isn't, but we'll definitely be back and bring my carnivorous dad along! Mom started with the pomegranate black tea, while I had some concoction with kombucha, apple juice, gin, muddled mint and agave syrup. Both were delicious. The cocktail was $9.50, a bit steep in my opinion, but this is downtown LaGrange and it was amazing, so I can't complain too much. We split the asparagus and corn risotto cake appetizer as well as The Farm flatbread pizza and the Asian slaw salad with shrimp. Again, everything was perfect and delicious! Mom had never had seared ahi tuna before, but she really enjoyed it. I ordered it as well and really liked the complex firecracker sauce which is an Asian mix of teriyaki, srirachi, and other spices/flavors. The evening ended with the Gooey Butter Cake and the description did not do it justice--I was afraid it was going to actually be a piece of cake (not really my thing) but it was much closer to a blondie/brownie-type consistency. Also amazing! Five stars to Prasino and I hope to be back soon when I am in Chicagoland next. I had such high hopes for Prasino. I knew it was going to be pretentious (it was) since it is "organic" and in LaGrange, but figured I would try it anyway. I first tried the place for breakfast on a Sunday and was very excited to try the vegan options. Vegan pancakes in the suburbs? This never happens. So you can imagine my disappointment when our server informed us that they were out of all vegan options. What? I'm not vegan so this didn't ruin my meal completely, but out of EVERYTHING? So I went with the conventional pancakes instead. They were okay, nothing special. And for the price, I would rather go to a traditional greasy spoon diner. Nothing here is cheap, and the quality doesn't live up to the price. Later I decided to give Prasino another chance and went for dinner. Big mistake. I ordered the black bean burger which was basically black bean mush on a bun. My friend had another sandwich with black bean salad. The salad consisted of unseasoned black beans with a few other vegetables thrown in. She was also upset at the lack of their white wine options. On top of all this, our server ignored us the entire time. We finally flagged her down for the check after sitting there for much too long. So I will not be back. read more

Sraight from the plane to great breakfast at Prasino. My omelette was delicious and who doesn't love a side of pancakes? Our waitress was adorable and the Lagrange theatre across the street made a quaint view. Our booth was cozy and private with it's own couragated cardboard hanging light (nice touch). The resturant offered a solid experience, but was not extreamly special. I love judging bathrooms... So this place did well in the bathroom area. Finally a great organic, sustainable, and vegetarian friendly place in the western suburbs. If you are sick of panera, corner bakery, and cosi for your "healthy" meal out, you have to check this place out! Although the prices are a little higher than you may be willing to pay, it is worth it for the fresh food, nice decor, and plenty of choices! I had the tofu wrap, which was good, but a little dry. I can't complain though because I haven't had a good tofu wrap since I was in Melbourne, Australia. Again, I am so happy LaGrange finally has an organic and vegetarian friendly restaurant that doesn't scare off manly men who still want "real food" and not rabbit food, which I happen to love! Absolutely amazing!!! I customized my flatbread with truffle honey, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese. It was delicious and fairly priced. The flatbread is called an "appetizer" but it big enough to be served as a dinner. I'll be back soon! read more

It has taken me a while to get here for some reason, but I finally came here for lunch. My server was very helpful and attentive, refilling our water, but letting us take our time to order and chat. I had the black bean gazpacho soup of the day. It was perfect for a hot day. The moment our server brought it to the table I could smell the wonderful aroma of the fresh herbs and tomatoes. For a drink. I had the grapefruit cooler. I love how fresh grapefruit makes my mouth water and the freshness that it sends into the air and this drink did not disappoint. It combines grapefruit juice, lemon juice, mint, agave nectar and a small amount of soda. If it is not too hot I would recommend trying to get a table outside. The umbrellas help to shield the sun and you get to have a nice view of downtown LaGrange. read more
