My husband gets his hair cut here frequently. It's the best price especially for the expertise in his opinion. I also got my hair cut here once (I don't have super high standards for where I get my hair cut, especially because I usually just want a trim!). They did a decent job, there was a man who did my haircut. He cut it a lot shorter than I wanted, and this is an ongoing battle for me (I feel like hair stylists are always aiming to cut/trim more than I want and even though I'm explicit with the instructions, they seem to find wiggle room and it can be frustrating). This is the reason for the subtraction of one star. Maybe women hair is not their thing. My husband always comes out happy and looking clean with a fresh new haircut. The parking is easy as it's located in a big shopping center on Decoto in Union City. Brought my sons here several times and liked it. Straightforward men's cuts, short wait, quick and neat job, $20+tip - no complaints. About $5 more than the last place we went to, but loved that there was no drama. At the place we used to go to, e.g. the haircutters would compete for walk-ins. If they were working on you and someone walked it, they tried to finish you fast, leaving your cut uneven. Then if you asked if they could fix it, they would get catty about it. The vibe was totally like Anjelah Johnson's "Nail Salon" skit. So glad Precision Cutz didn't seem to have issues. Until today. When it came time to pay, the stylist said $30 (vs. $20), because she also shaved his stubble. "Doesn't he look nice?" $10 extra??? Maybe she asked if he wanted it done, but of course didn't mention it would cost extra. I will continue to bring my sons there (with a different stylist), but I feel it was a shady move for her to upsell a simple men's haircut. I was considering trying Precision Cutz myself vs. going to the salon for a $50 haircut, but their $30 "and up" women's haircut will likely end up costing $50 anyway, for a 10-minute cut, with no wash, no checking each step of the way to make sure it is what the customer wants, no blow dry, and no guarantee you'll like the result. Maybe this is not fair; this was one stylist and it hasn't happened before. But every stylist working there represents the business and how it operates, so I'll take it as a warning. read more

I wanted to post a review for the short haired ladies out there. I recently took the pixie cut plunge and chopped off 18 inches of hair. I had a tough time finding a barber shop near me with reviews for women's short haircuts and I've never been to a barber so I didn't really know what to expect. I needed a convenient and affordable option to keep the sides trimmed in between salon visits. I have very thick straight hair that sticks out when short. I pass by Precision Cutz all the time and decided to go in because a couple of my friends' sons go here. I must say this was the quickest and most straightforward haircut I've ever had. I've never had a "my own" haircut place that I had to go to in order to get the cut i want. But that's also because i've always sported a simple fade on the sides and a trim on the top; something most places can simply imitate. Until i started getting the "disconnected undercut" w/ the comb over and the "part line" thingy and i realized the place i used to go to don't know what i was even talking about. While other places i've tested tried to imitate and screw it up just enough that I probably wouldn't want give it a 2nd chance... But this place has some really good barbers. I ask for a very simple 3 inch trim of my hair, but I came out with 5 inches cut off my hair. She rushed through the haircut and it felt like she was rushing me out of the store. Took my son here to get a hair cut as a walk-in. There is a sign that states walk-ins are welcomed. I signed us in as soon as we got there and was taken in within 15 minutes. Tony gave the cut and did a decent job on my son's hair. All in all, we were in and out within 25 minutes. *Note: there is no air conditioning in the building so it can get pretty hot.
