I called PTAC a little after 4 pm when I noticed one of my tires was low as I was leaving work. They said they'd be able to look at it before closing at 5:30, so I headed their way. They were clearly very busy and I expected to have to wait right up to 5:30 or even leave my car there overnight, but I was wrong! They looked at my car within 20 minutes and found a nail in one of the tires. They quickly patched it up (for a very reasonable fee!), and I was on my way home by 5! I saw on the work statement that they also checked a few other things - hoses, fluids, etc - while they had my car in the shop. I had just taken my car into the dealer for recommended maintenance a couple weeks before so was not expecting any issues other than the tire, but always nice to have confirmation that your car is in good shape! read more

I found them to be very reliable. It's so hard to find a good mechanic so I appreciate them so much! Marty takes good care of us and our family's cars. I used to go just for oil changes, but now I go for all the services they offer. The front desk woman is mean, but it's a small price to pay for great car service. Their wait time can be long because they are so busy, so drop your car off instead of waiting. The amount of people in the waiting area aren't the only people in "line" as most people drop their cars off. read more

I needed an oil change, as my car dash showed 15% oil life left. First I called, and told I could get in right away. By the time I was able to get there, over 45 minutes had lapsed. My wait was still very short. Everyone was polite and professional, and they checked out other things as well The service was reasonable, and I will definitely return to this facility in the future. The best Precision I have ever been to! Josh and the team all take good care of me! I came back to live in Charlotte and visited the Percision here and they tried to get over on me by telling me my car was leaking from so many places they needed $85 to do a diagnostic test and I took my car to a different place who told me the only reason it was leaking from ONE place was because the cap to the transmission was loose (which I'm sure the Percision in Cahrlotte did). After leaving my minivan at Precision Tune for a premium oil change, I was upset to find that my turn signal canceller was no longer working. This means my turn signal does not automatically turn off after driving around a corner, and the driver has to manually push the signal lever back into the off position. This switch was working fine when I brought the minivan in to get the oil change, and after the oil change, it was broken. I noticed the turn signal problem immediately upon driving home from the Precision Tune, but wasn't able to return until the next morning. After a long discussion with Bryan, the manager, during which no apologies were offered, he told me that if the turn switch canceller had broken during the oil change, then the part must have worn out on its own. He denied that any of his mechanics could possibly have broken it accidentally, and furthermore he said it was not their responsibility to fix it even if it had broken during the oil change. He said that these things sometimes just happen while cars are being worked on. For example, he said that if someone's automatic car window happened to stop working during an oil change, it wouldn't be Precision Tune's fault and they wouldn't be solely responsible for the cost of fixing the window. There is no way for me to know whether one of the mechanics damaged my turn signal switch or whether it just happened to wear out and fail during the oil change. But I think most customers with vehicle problems that appear directly after an oil change would expect their mechanic to take responsibility for those issues. I'm disappointed that the manager Bryan had such a defensive attitude when asked to fix a problem that occurred while my car was in his care. I was a previous customer of this Precision Tune garage, as they had been recommended to me by a friend. Unfortunately my vehicle is now in worse condition after the oil change, and I can't recommend them to others. read more

Wow! I'm not sure I've ever received such excellent service from an owner of a business as I did from Precision Tune Auto Care! I only got a simple wheel alignment which was only about one hour of work. After the service, the owner came out and explained to me in detail but in words that a non-mechanical person could understand the alignment of each wheel on my car. The care that he provide made me feel as if he were a doctor and I was a patient undergoing a complicated surgery. Thank you so much for everything and I will be back again! read more

We live out of state but our granddaughter lives in Durham. She needed some work done on her car and during a visit there we asked around for a reliable mechanic. Without hesitation we were told to take it to PTAC. We took the car there and asked for an exhaustive inspection along with a prioritized list of work to be done on the car. That was over a year ago and since then all the work has been done. We needed a place that a grandparent would feel confident in sending their granddaughter to for help and we found it! My first experience there was good, I felt like I was not getting ripped off for getting my Ac fixed, well 2 months later and already spent $700 to fix the Ac stops again, so I brought it back to have them check, I was a little shocked that checking it was going to cost me $120 an hour when I was there not long ago, i figured it would be under a warranty since it wasn't a new issue, it only took them around 20 mins to find what the problem was, paid $30, left with a estimate more than I can afford for another part bad, and left with kind of a pushed off feeling this time, I think I'll get a second opinion, read more

Brought my car in for an alignment using an online coupon. Told them that it had aftermarket camber kits on front and rear. At end of work was told they wouldn't adjust camber kit on front without paying an additional $92 labor. I protested saying they should have told me this up front since I warned them about the kits (any other reputable shop would do this adjustment free with the alignment). Left the shop and immediately took to AAA Auto for a second opinion who told me that they should not have aligned car because rear trailing arm and control arm bushings needed replacement first and that work done was incorrectly. Second measurements showed toe angle and caster were out of specifications. read more

I drive 15 miles to get my oil changed here! Why??? Because when you find a honest mechanic you stay with them!! I have been with them 15 years and cannot believe that it has taken me this long to write a review! I was told today that I needed a tire rotation and I always trust their judgment and "purchased" it only to find that the service was FREE because I had purchased my tires there ( mind you I was not aware that I had this privilege and I had purchased the tires a long long time ago).. They go over and above and i truly appreciate these guys.. They take good care of my car and have never had an instance where I thought they were trying to sell me something just to make $$$. I have admired and appreciated the honesty of Marty and Brian, the owners of the Precision Tune located at the intersection of Highway 54 and Highway 55. In the 15 years I've used their services, they have never tried to sell me a service I did not need. GREAT experience! We initially went here for an oil change a few months ago. They were very busy, but the car was ready in a reasonable amount of time. The manager sat down with us to give us the status of our vehicle and what other repairs we may need in the near future, but in no way pressured us to do it that day. Not long after that, we needed a transmission flush on the same vehicle and chose to go elsewhere due to cost (it wasn't much different from Precision, but we were on a tight budget). The manager at this location was friendly, but he made us believe that if we didn't have our brakes serviced immediately, we were going to be in a mess of trouble. Due to finances, we waited until this past weekend to have our brakes serviced. We went back to Precision, as we felt more comfortable with the manager at this location, and it wasn't long after we dropped the car off that we received a phone call from the manager saying that we still had about 7000+ miles left on our brakes and that we could wait to have them serviced. Wow. They have our business for as long as we live in this area. Honesty like that in the auto repair industry is rare. read more

this place really sucks. they try to fix everything, but what you're there for them to fix. horrible at pinpointing the problem at hand. they gave me a list of things that "could" be wrong and basically told me to choose one. that might fix it. More than $600 later car still not fixed. read more
