    Braised Short Rib Hash
    Lisa Y.

Prego is an upscale Italian restaurant located at The District at Tustin Legacy. The interior is spacious and classy, but I love eating on their their outdoor patio space! They offer brunch on weekends. We got the Braised Short Rib Hash and the Italian Benedict. The Braised Short Rib Hash has eggs, short rib, breakfast potatoes, and toasted focaccia. The Italian Benedict was unique in that it has San Daniele prosciutto and parmesan hollandaise, on toasted focaccia. Both were tasty, and I would get them again! They also offer an All Day Menu available daily. We got the Cacrciofi Blossoms which are crispy artichokes. It's served with a sriracha aioli. I really enjoyed these! They're battered and fried giving them a nice crunch on the outside, and the artichokes inside are soft and tender. We also got the Rigatoni Carbonara, and it was delicious! It has pancetta, tossed egg yolks, and pecorino with a touch of cream. Highly recommend this dish! Service was great. Everyone was welcoming and attentive.

This was our first visit here. I called and spoke with Christina, who was so very nice. I asked for a seating accommodation and Christine made it happen! When we arrived, I had the pleasure of meeting her and she was so nice. Our server, was Jose and he was excellent! Such a nice man. His timing was perfect. He checked on us frequently, but, was never intrusive. We ordered several items and everything was so delicious. We enjoyed the Meatball appetizer, shrimp salad. lasagna, tiger shrimp gigante and the tres leches cake. We loved everything! Christina and Jose made this a very special evening and we are so grateful!

We popped in here after a movie and sat at the bar. The bartender was super engaged and helpful. He told his name was Izzy. By the end of our dinner, we were chatting with size, and we decided he is one of the main reasons we will come back. He made our whole dinner fun and inviting. The restaurant itself wants to be really nice. It's just regular nice. The furniture and walls are a dark wood. It feels slightly dated. Like something from the 90's. The lighting is a little too bright for the dark steakhouse vibes they are going for. But, we enjoyed it regardless. The food was good for what it is. Nothing blew us away. But it was solid, and the flavors were right. The Caesar dressing on the salad was quality. It had just the right blend of flavors and lots of Parmesan. We got the filet of sole and it was nice and light. The sauce was good. I've had better. But, I liked it. The meatballs were in a great vodka sauce. They were tender. I am really picky about meatballs, and these stood up. We loved meeting some regulars at the bar. Izzy was extremely accommodating, helping us get the channel on the TV for opening night of baseball. This is a good spot. We would definitely come back.

Came for a late lunch and so happy we did. Some of the best food. Kelsey helped us and she had the best recommendations. Tuna tartare and short rib pasta... amazing!! Alan also made an amazing amalfi paloma.

Wine and old fashion at Prego

Our first time at Prego was a success! The ambiance was nice and relaxing, very chill vibe. Our server Kyleigh was very sweet and helpful with suggestions on the menu. I had the Penne Arrabbiata, the sauce was delicious! The portion was very filling as well. We also ordered the Tiger Shrimp Diavola. The pasta was good, but the sauce was on the lighter side. No fault of the chef, this is a matter of preference. I did enjoy the large shrimps and overall the dish was good. For drinks we ordered a glass of wine and an old fashion. Desert, we had the crème Brûlée, it was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.

Jose was amazing! so attentive and sweet, food was amazing! We came for happy hour it was very peaceful.

Our server Jose is the best! He made sure that we were taken care of and is very attentive! We had such a great experience and definitely going to be coming back because of him!

SERVICE Last night's tall and kind server was the best. He understood I was allergic to cheese and when he said "I got ya!" it made me feel understood, not judged or made to feel like I was a weirdo (side note: I AM weird, ok? Happy now?) AMBIENCE Highly recommend for a romantic date.

    Lobster ravioli

This is nice higher-end Italian restaurant. We've been here a few times and it's usually not full. While it's white cloth, there were a fair number of families with kids. I had the lasagna and asked for a little extra marinara sauce. You can see from one of the pictures that's it's very meaty without any ricotta -- I liked it fine this way, but just be aware of you like ricotta. My wife had the lobster ravioli and it was excellent -- you could definitely taste the delicate rich flavor of the lobster. The crab crochette was not as great -- a bit mushy and not much crab flavor. Service was good and servers were friendly. So, overall, quite good!

    Meatballs and spaghetti

My friend and I came to the District today and had lunch at Prego. Great location and getting there at a little before noon was very easy to get a table. We ordered the staple meatballs and spaghetti and the rigatoni. Both were excellent and good portions as well. Alan was a good waiter as well. It was a bit pricey but totally worth it. I highly recommend eating here if you enjoy Italian food.

Are they any specials on Thursday ? Also do you accommodate 12 people party ( for a birthday)

Hi Janee. On Thursday we offer social hour from 3-6pm and Tequila Thursdays from 4-9pm. We can accommodate groups of 12. Please give us a call and we'd be happy to make that for you.

Is lunch and dinner the same menu, or is there a separate lunch/brunch menu(s) apart from the dinner menu?

    What is cigar Tuesday?

Cigar aficionados could have on Tuesdays only to go to the patio and enjoy cigars with a small tapas menu!

Follow up question: what form of ID is needed for hospitality night (ie I work at an ice cream shop so I don't have any type of ID)?

Hi Pooja, hospitality night is open to all customers. You will not need to show ID.

Do you still do industry night?

Yes, we do! We have Hospitality Night every Wednesday from 4pm-9pm.

The place is beautiful, very clean, very fancy. The waiter who explained how everything works had a pretty strong accent and it was kind of loud in there so it was a little hard to understand but he was more than happy to answer any questions we had. The salad bar had a ton of variety and all of it was so good. The shrimp was delicious and spicy, the jasmine rice was so warm and soft. The potatoes were cheesy and soft. They give you complimentary mashed potatoes, cheesy bread, plantains, and French fries and all of it was cooked to perfection. It was hard to not eat all of it right away. The meat selection is a little overstimulating since the waiters are just buzzing around the tables looking for people to shave off a piece of meat for. All of the food runners were extremely friendly and looked happy to be there, there were just so many of them. You get overwhelmed because you just start saying yes to all the meat because you don't want to miss out on a good piece but then you end up with a ton of food on your plate. I tried to play it cool and only eat small portions at a time but I got full so quickly :-( the best meat had to be the filet minion, the worst being some of the lamb options, but none of it tasted bad. We didn't order any drinks because we were trying to only get full off the actual food but we had multiple waiters try to get us to order their house cocktails. Next time I would definitely try one now that I know what to expect.

The bartender dropped off the happy hour oysters with a glass of sparkling wine and some olive juice (to go on your oysters) which I thought was a nice touch. There is something reassuring about walking through the door already knowing what I am going to order--and knowing, with reasonable certainty, exactly how good it will be. The kitchen is remarkably consistent. The food is well prepared, ingredients are treated with care, and execution rarely seems to vary from one visit to the next. That kind of consistency is rare and much appreciated. The same can be said for the service. The staff are attentive, professional, and pleasantly unobtrusive. The restaurant itself is exceptionally well maintained and always impressively clean. One of my favorite things about Houston's, however, has nothing to do with the food: the acoustics. I can think of very few restaurants where I would rather sit down for a long conversation over dinner. Whoever designed the acoustic treatment knew exactly what they were doing. You can actually hear the people at your table without having to compete with the rest of the room--something that has become surprisingly rare in modern restaurants. There is a good selection of wines by the glass. Prices are certainly toward the higher end, but considering the quality of the food, service, surroundings, and above all the remarkable consistency, I find them justified. Dining at Houston's is something I genuinely look forward to, and after many visits it remains one of my favorite restaurants in Orange County. I would recommend it without hesitation --with one exception: I would choose somewhere else for a group larger than four. For two to four people, particularly when good food and good conversation are both important, Houston's is very hard to beat.
