I brought my vehicle to Premier Auto specifically for a transmission fluid and filter change. Before scheduling, I called to confirm they were capable of performing this service on my vehicle, since another shop had already told me they could not. Premier Auto confirmed they could and provided a quote. About an hour into the job, I received a call stating they "didn't realize" additional components had to be removed to access the filter. At that point, the price was increased to roughly double the original quote--after work had already begun, leaving me with little option but to proceed. Shortly after the service, I began noticing a persistent rattling noise that did not exist prior. After inspecting the issue, it appears that the component they removed to access the filter was improperly reinstalled or overtightened, resulting in damage to the metal part and a constant rattle. read more

Craig sold us the best car on Oahu, a gorgeous 2017 Fiat Abarth. We've been kicking ourselves ever since we stupidly sold ours on the mainland before moving to Hawaii. These are not easy cars to find, especially since they stopped selling them in the US in 2019. We saw an ad for the car at Premier Automotive and went down to have a look. Interesting business - car sales, rentals AND repairs. Nice people! Nice cars! We agreed to buy the car on the spot and have been happily zipping around the island with it now for a couple of months. Thanks Craig! Two minor issues, by way of constructive criticism. The bottom passenger side panel was not fully attached to the car, and Craig said he was waiting for a couple of "screws" to arrive to take care of that. Never heard back on that. No big deal, probably just missed a message from them. Also, they did an oil change on the car, but did not remove the four year old sticker from Cutter, where the previous oil change was done, did not put a new oil change sticker on the window, and didn't reset the oil change warning light. So when the oil change light inevitably came on, there was no way to tell when, where and if an oil change was done. Also, no biggie. Bottom line, this is a great little dealership with nice cars and nice people. The buying process and loan app were easy and fast. So, there's a company, Premier Automotive who is a used car dealership is located on lower Waialae Ave. Did you know they also have a full service mechanical repair shop for engine repairs and something as simple as an oil change. I was certainly impressed with their full service engine repair shop who does everything EXCEPT safety checks. For me, I'm either lazy, spoiled, ignorant, demanding or a combination of all as I like to take my car to one place and have them do everything. Even if they have to sub out the work to a specialty mechanic, I'd rather have them do it than for me run around especially since I'm not versed in what would have to be done.... The best parts of this place? 1) competitive pricing (to many engine repair shops and tire places) 2) friendly service starting with the owner, manager and down the totem pole 3) comfortable place to wait if it's a simple oil change. And by far, it's been a year & we haven't encountered major problem with the car. Although, we kind'a encountered a bit of problem with paper works, goodness Craig is helping out to make it work. Ain't that smooth though but still satisfied with their service. Every time baby black encounter some trouble shooting, PA is our saving grace. LoL. Minor or major this place helps a lot fixing our cars & save a lot compare to big companies who did it. And work totally fine after. And they do a great job with the paperwork process and doing test-drives where requested. MAKE THIS SHOP YOUR FIRST AND ONLY STOP! Let me start off by saying that for over a month, my Chevy Cruze was rough idling and stalling out at stops as well as when I put it in park or neutral (most notable when I turned the A/C off); the check engine light became my shadow -_- I went to one private shop as well as Cutter Chevy for a total of FIVE TIMES back to back within that timeframe and they were able to find and fix every issue under the sun EXCEPT for what was causing the main problem. You could tell they didn't want to be up front about what they felt could be the issue, so they just kept referring to the check engine codes and not allowing for us to pick each others brains to find a solution. I found Premier Automotive through Yelp, seen the customer testimonials and reached out. They took me in the very next day, allowed me to stay, communicated with me throughout THE WHOLE DIAGNOSTIC PROCESS, and allowed for full transparency as I explained the signs/symptoms and they explained what they believed the main culprit was. They pin pointed the mass airflow sensor as the source of the problem so they ordered a new one as well as a purge valve per my request (just in case it was starting to fail). They let me take the car and come back the very next day as soon as they opened, got started right away and was done before 11am; THEY DID IT ALL UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY TOO! Today I took two really long drives and I haven't seen the check engine light since! It now idles smooth as butter in all gears and with the A/C on or off. I had the best car buying experience with Premier. It isn't always so easy to find a great dealership, especially when you are trying to support the little guys. I scoured hordes of yelp reviews, craigslist ads, & websites for a car dealership before deciding to go check out premier. I worked with Faith and Craig the first day. I spent all day trying cars but there was one more that I wanted to try that they had to bring from the other lot. I decided to think on the others and come back and try the other one before making the purchase. I came back the next day and tried the new car, plus all of the ones from the day before, with Craig. Neither of these two made me feel rushed or pressured at all during the entire experience. I finally decided on my perfect little Honda Fit (..yet to be named). Craig even gave me an extra $20 back to take care of my first take of gas in my new ride. How cool was that? Now, this lil cutie is one of those fancy newer vehicles with mostly electric EVERYTHING. The first time I drove it, I parked it and didn't use it again for a few days. Of course, I am not use to the new, fancy electric-start vehicles because I haven't had a car for a couple of years. So, I go back to start it and find out that I had left a light on and let the battery drain. Yes, the first time I drove it. I ended up getting myself towed back over to Premier, a little embarrassed at my mistake. I was waiting for the mechanic to recharge the battery. Sipping on some complimentary La Croix (Score!). Craig came back after about 15 minutes and told me I was ready to go. Not only that, but he had given me a brand-new battery, with warranty, for no charge. I had the best experience at Premier. They not only exceeded expectations, but went above and beyond. I will most definitely be continuing to go back to Premier for my maintenance needs as well. I can't even begin to say how much I appreciate this company. I drive a Saab (I know, I know...) and these guys have been so helpful. Reuben is communicative and helpful. As a woman, I pride myself in fixing my vehicles by myself when possible and finding the root of issues. Even if I wasn't that type of female, I know these guys treat every customer the same. The first time I came in it was for my AC. I had put a can of refrigerant in my car and it did nothing to cool the air. I took my car in, expecting it was a larger issue. Turns out I just needed more refrigerant! I had told them that I had thought it was a computer issue possibly and encouraged them to read it. However, they came back and told me it was fixed and the computer didn't need to be read, unless I wanted it to, which would be more money. They only charged me for the hour of labor and were so honest. I drove away happy and with ice cold air. My car is currently in their shop. My car was running rough and I couldn't figure it out. I changed out the first cylinder coil back, O2 sensor, fuel injectors, etc. on my own and it was still rough. I called them several times that week with questions. They never made me feel like I was wasting their time or that I was silly for working on a Saab myself. I finally purchased a new ECU master computer thinking that was the issue. I got it towed to their facility since they have the only mechanic on island who works with Saab computers. They were so kind and just told me to let them know when the tow was on its way. They spent a day being as befuddled as me and kept me updated, though no improvements happened with the new ECU.... It turns out the company I bought the fuel injectors from had sent me the wrong ones! THEN I bought new ones online (Reuben was open with the fact that if the shop themselves ordered genuine Saab parts it would be more, giving me the choice and being honest), and a different online shop SENT ME THE WRONG ONES! Different color and number than the picture. Now I have decided to buy the fuel injectors through them and feel happy to do so. They were able to figure this out and have been helping me to get my car back on the road. Honest, open, kind, and reasonable service. I have been coming here for a couple of years now to get my oil changed. (I got a coupon from my Safeway receipt!) They are amazing. Honest and affordable for car repair as well. I have a 13 year old car and there are things that just go wrong! But when they do, I'm comfortable knowing that I can take it here and not get ripped off or have something else added on as a separate job. I have had them tell me that I will need new brake pads pretty soon or something like that, but even give me time to check it out more or save up a little more money for next time. Many other places charge ridiculous amounts for renters who are under 25, however this place only charged a small amount. Not only did they finish the job quickly and well, they also diagnosed that I needed an upper control arm on the passenger side. Not a problem, they got it fixed and on the road in no time. I was expecting a big bill, not the case. The price was VERY reasonable. They even gave me a nice loaner car to use. From now on this is the only place I take my vehicles. Avoid this place!!!! Most unethical!!! Purchased a used car with only 66,000 miles from them and the engine blew after driving it for approximately 2 weeks. They said an oil change was performed recently so we assumed it was done properly. But, there was no oil and the engine seized. They tried to make it our fault for not being more diligent and suggested the oil somehow ended up in the engine block by way of a blown head gasket. Not the case and there were no visible oil leaks. They were unwilling to take any responsibility for the issue and left me with a $3,500 bill to replace the engine. They don't even return emails and texts to deal with the problem. Luckily, that's not my experience at premier. The team is usually super busy and manages to be incredibly personable at the same time. I always feel like they are on my side. I bought my used car from them a few years ago and was so impressed, I have consistently gone back for oil changes. Today - they squeezed me in for an emergency repair.
