I browsed the PriceMyAC site and it looked impressive and innovative. Knowing that I needed a new AC I decided to make an appointment. I spoke to John the owner on the phone and he was very helpful, answered my questions and put me at ease. I made an appointment for the next early evening. A tech showed up half of hour early and without introduction (knocking on my door first, letting me know his name or something like I know it is early is it ok if I start now?) He started getting his ladder from his unmarked van to get on the roof. When I told him that he could not get on the roof until the appointment time, he told me he had other appointments. I said that is fine, I understand. We can skip my appointment. He got so angry that he used the "F" word on me and started screaming on the street. At which point I went in because he was making a scene in front of all the neighbors. I called PriceMyAC and John answered, I explained his tech was early so I could not let him get on the roof until the time of the appointment. I also let him know how his tech had mistreated and insulted me. I expected a reschedule of my appointment. I did not care for an apology which John did not offer. As an owner of a business I would have offered an apology but instead John became very rude, told me that he would not do business in my subdivision or with me and hung up the phone on me. I do not see the value of a good first impressions if one is going to behave the way John did. This left me perplexed. I am a business owner myself and I do understand that some clients can be a challenge but I never was rude, not even to the tech that insulted me nor did I get upset. I was nice and calm. I cannot judge an owner of a business by their employees behavior but John's behavior was also not acceptable. He can and I see no problem on turning a job down but there is no need to be disrespectful. Readers make your own judgment when you decide to pick this business but I wanted to tell my story. I am way impressed! I called John on July 4th and left a message that one of my units needed some attention. It was blowing hot and being that the unit is 18 years old I was a tad nervous. I got a text from him within the hour saying he would be there first thing in the morning. John showed up on time (even a little early) and told me the capacitor was blown. I had a feeling that was it, but I am not an A/C guy so you never know. We are kind of at their mercy and John was honest and quick. There's nothing worse than waking up to a hot home on a Sunday morning when the forecast for the week is 108. After reviewing Yelp and NextDoor reviews we decided to try PriceMyAC. And are we happy we did! We called early Sunday AM and within a few hours we received a call from Lupe the office manager. She said she'd call the owner to see what we could do. And just a bit after that John showed up at our door! On a Sunday. When they are closed. Can't beat that kind of customer service. We were expecting to be told our 23 year old unit was going to need replacing. My air went out last night, yes 119°! I was still awake at 12:30 when I posted on Facebook this situation. I got a recommendation from a friend, I prayed over it and went with this company called, PriceMyAC, owner John Lamont. I was told I could text any time, which I felt weird about! He wanted to charge $2385 without seeing the unit when I've received quotes of $1700-1800 and let him know. I thought it was strange that it was so high and wrote back. He wrote a lengthy nasty response putting me down and the companies I've received quotes from. Then followed up with a message saying "why don't you do your job and I'll do mine..." I've never met this person or even talked on the phone, this was just a YELP quote without seeing my unit! Randomly, our A/C unit started leaking a ton of water and condensation into our unit, soaking through the filter and causing some odd noises. Not what you want to see and hear on July 1st in Arizona. Hottest weekend so far in Phoenix/Mesa and of course our old A/C unit quits at 8 pm Friday night. We have 5 dogs as well, so I turned on all the fans and was able to maintain 85 through the night. Woke up at 5:30 am Saturday and looking through all those ads that are mailed out - only 2 ads were for A/C repair, sales with 24 hour emergency available! I called both numbers (answering calls business) and was promised calls with 1 11/2 hours...after waiting 3, I started worrying since I know they are getting slammed as well. I ended up calling my wife worrying when her girlfriend suggested PriceMyAC - they have commercial housing and have used him in the past. I called the number 602 525-5464 and left message. John (the owner and technician) has always been very friendly, honest, and straight forward with me. He does not try to "up sell" things needlessly like other companies do with their services. When my older AC (more than 10 years old at the time) needed new capacitors, he showed me the old ones so I knew he wasn't just pulling my leg. A couple years later, when the drain pan cracked, he gave me both options (attempt to fix which likely would destroy the unit in under a year or replace the system AND get energy savings). I opted to replace. Best decision I've ever made. He ended up reducting my house (additional cost) as part of the replacement (move from box vents above the hallway to snake hose, drop vents) and not only is my energy usage lower, but the rooms stay colder and don't have the "hot zones" they used to have. Not to mention the fact that the AC isn't running constantly during the hot hours of the summer afternoons in the desert. I've dealt with some shady operators in the past and John is NOT one of them.
