But for a 19 dollar burger, it wasn't what I thought it would be. It definitely isn't the best burger I've had. I ordered the truffle burger. For 19 dollars plus tax, you get a burger and fries. This place is quite pricy for the food to be honest. However, I do think that the meat is something that is quite amazing. The seasoning for my meal was fantastic, however it was slightly overcooked than what I wanted it. The carrots were seasoned well, but has a bit too much crunch for my liking as well as not having enough. The mash potatoes had an amazing mouth feel and texture, but lacked seasoning to really make it shine. Overall, the meal was great, but was held back by small details, and price. This would be an easy 5 stars for me if they were more consistent. This is easily one of my favorite steak place to go to! The quality is amazing, seasoning taste great, so do the sides! However, they're not very consistent with how they cook the steak. I always order medium rare and sometimes I would get medium rare, sometimes I would get basically well done. Which is kind of atrocious for a steak specialty place with price averaging $30+ a meal. Why ask for how the customer want the steak if how the steak comes out just depend on how the cook feel that day. I've been scoping this place out on ig for a while and finally got to try it during my trip down to SoCal. I was pretty intent on getting the truffle butter steak, but when I saw that the daily special was a truffle butter hamburger, I just had to get it and boy did it not disappoint!! The burger was cooked to a perfect medium and was sooo juicy. The truffle butter on top of it was so good and flavorful and you could really taste the truffle. I usually like to eat my burgers with ketchup and Mayo but this burger definitely did not need that. It was perfect on its own. I also got their mashed potatoes on the side which were just okay. I do wish they were more buttery. I had some of my friends truffle butter steak with my mash and the steak was really good too! I am a suckers for a good steak so we decide to give this place a try. There are four different cuts you can choose from and it includes two sides which is perfect. I got the 6oz truffle butter picanha with buttery mashed potatoes, roasted heirloom carrots and grilled button mushrooms. The meat was cooked just right but could've used a little more seasoning. We also got the butcher's burger which was really good! Aged angus beef, garlic aioli, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese, and fresh arugula. The fries could have used some salt. I would rate it higher for my own meal, but I tried my friends' food too and none of us enjoyed their cuts. I got filet mignon and it was really good. On the other hand, among my friends two of them got ribeye and one got picanha and both cuts in all three dishes were chewy. The picanha was very hard to swallow and it had a very gamey after taste. What is also bad about this place is that they'll cook it one level under what you ordered. I ordered medium (I wanted medium rare though and took a gamble that they'd fuck it up, and I was right!) and it came out medium rare. My friends ordered medium rare and they came out rare. Another big complaint was that they make you pay for ketchup. BUT I guess it's fine cause they make the ketchup themselves so it actually tastes really different and pretty good compared to regular ketchup, my only complaint then would be that they should tell you that as you're ordering not just leave it as a surprise charge. Every meat comes with 2 sides. I got mashed potatoes and french fries. I enjoyed them they were not bad. In the end, I would reorder the filet mignon and absolutely nothing else. And remember order one level higher than you want! (Medium = medium rare etc.) read more

Kind of odd to see a steakhouse inside a food court (Rodeo 39), but I don't mind since I don't dine on site these days due to COVID-19. In fact, I prefer it this way so I'm not paying extra fee for a fine dining experience. I think the price here is good for a steakhouse. For around $25, I got an 8 oz. filet mignon with two sides. Last time I had something like that at a steakhouse was more than $40. Currently there are four different cuts of meat (picanha, ribeye, New York steak, and filet mignon) ranging in price between $16 and $30. All cuts come with choice of two sides. Choices are mashed potato, heirloom carrots, grilled mushrooms, broccolini ($2 extra), and grilled asparagus ($2 extra). You can choose between garlic or truffle butter for the final touch. These items were listed with additional fee on the menu but were standard options when I placed the order online through Yelp/Grubhub. My filet mignon tasted excellent. It had a nice crust, and addition of truffle butter really made a big difference. I ordered mine with heirloom carrots and grilled mushrooms, which paired well with the steak. Great low-carb meal. Only reason I took away one star is because my steak was overcooked. It was still tender enough to eat but I ordered it medium and it came out more like somewhere between medium well to well done. If it wasn't for this, this place would be five stars for me. I would still return and try more items because the price is very reasonable for a steakhouse. read more

My experience at Primal overall was just short of average. Service was flat and painfully slow and the size of the burger was just larger than a child's menu offering. We ordered the truffle butter burger and it was good but didn't wow us. It lacked development. Bread, good. Meat, good. Additions, good. Execution? Flat. I'd say that this place can be great, and maybe it is and we just ordered the wrong thing, but if you only have 3 burgers on offer versus a dozen, they should all be impressive at nearly $20 a pop. We'll come back and try the Butcher Burger since that's what people seem to like. Hopefully after a few more months they'll evolve a bit more, but we were not impressed and the customer service was what you'd find at McD's. read more

Had a bridal shower in rodeo 39 and decided to get a large order of prime steaks from Primal cuts. Love the concept of indulging in high quality meat in a more casual environment. Ordered 12 entrees for 12 girls. Had it ready and packed up in 30minutes. Very professional staff and they made sure that our food was made fresh and to our personal liking. I personally got their 12oz rib-eye steak with brocollini and mushroom button medium. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Everything was delicious. Been here a few times with family and we have always left feeling satisfied with our steak meals. Primal Cuts is located inside the large food court called Rodeo 39 at the intersection of Garden Grove Blvd and Beach Blvd in the city of Stanton. It's always super crowded since there are other popular venues inside and it's located in the same lot as In-n-Out burger. Their steaks are apparently only aged for about 8 days or so, but you can taste the difference! I've had the ribeye and filet mignon at various times. You can have it with either truffle butter or garlic butter and it comes with 2 sides. The mashed potatoes are creamy and grilled veggies or mushrooms, are always nice. Approximately $30 per steak dinner and worth it! It's nice to get a good steak without having to get dressed up and go through the stuffiness of a white linen, tablecloth dinner. With the pandemic and all the other horrible things that have culminated into 2020, it's nice to know there are still people out there hungry to work and build that can bring flavor to the table! The new Rodeo market in Stanton is a bit confusing. There's food vendors and odd little shops. The atmosphere reminds me of a lite version of Anaheim packing house. I've been here a couple times and walked the whole place, but there's never much that grabs me and pulls me in. Today I walked the place and first thing I saw was a display case full of meat! In the sea of deep fried junk, I discovered Primal Cuts. The menu is very simple, nothing on it looks bad - I wanted to try everything! I ordered the pichana, grilled carrots and asparagus. I was told it would be a bit so I did another lap of the building. When the order was ready I could vaguely see the food through the lid and knew even if it didn't taste good, the presentation was good! I got into my car and rushed back to work, popped the lid and indeed it was so pretty, I took a pic. The veg was lightly grilled and had a lovely and appetizing color. The meat was perfectly cooked and pretty tender to the fork. Some garnishing on top finished the presentation, which is top 5 best for "take out" On to flavor. I already ate with my eyes, now let's see what the buds think! I speared a carrot, chomped... chomped some more. It was sweet, great crunch, lightly seasoned and salted and the tiny little charred spots gave an awesome balance. The asparagus was the same, lightly salted, not soft or overcooked and had the ends shaved so you don't get that gross woody, fibrous base that some leave on. Finally the meat! Pichana is one of those cuts that some love and some hate. I personally am a fan and when I go to Brazilian steak houses, it is usually one of the first cuts I look for. In fact, the overall flavor reminded me of Fogos or Texas Do Brazil. The garlic butter was amazing, finishing salt was just right and when I was done I was a little sad! I'll definitely be going back to try more but if you're on the fence about visiting Rodeo, let Primal Cuts be the thing that brings you in! If you try nothing else have a healthy lunch or dinner! (They were out of the mashed potatoes when i went otherwise I would've got mashed potatoes.) I tried multiple of the meats and I would say the ribeye is the best but that's just my opinion :) I also tried the butcher's burger. The meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the sides complimented and added to the overall dish. The burger buns were super crispy and the meat was juicy. The only thing I'd point out is that the ketchup for the fries is so liquidy it barely coats the fry at all, but still pretty good flavor. One of my favorite spots at Rodeo for sure! So here is my meal selection: **12 oz Ribeye** $27 with heirloom carrots & broccolini (+$2) - Ok, for this price, I thought it was kinda pricy for just a piece of steak and some veggies. ---Veggies - The carrots were slightly grilled with a crunchy texture. The broccolini was fine and this was extra $2. I think this should have been a regular side and not have to cost extra. Or at least give me a little more in quantity for that extra cost. ---Ribeye - Medium Rare - The seasoning was on point and flavorful. The texture...in my opinion the texture was chewy. Even with all the fat surrounding the cut, it was still tough to chew on some of the steak pieces. Not sure if the cook had picked up the wrong piece of meat (maybe a NY steak), but the ribeye's texture was not as tender as expected. I've tried ribeye at other restaurants and rarely had a chewy ribeye. However, this was a medium rare so you get the idea. If your more in the mood for a burger they offer 2 specials "The OG Burger" and "Butchers Burger" which are both made with aged angus beef. Well I came here for dinner and wanted a steak so I got my favorite cut and ordered the Ribeye. Mashed potato was creamy and the grilled asparagus still had a bite and was not over cooked or mushy. You may not be sitting down at a table with white table cloth and being waited to but you will still pay the same as if you were at a steakhouse. I really hate to be the person to send food back but the plate was over $30 and i have expectations for my steak lol. I decided to send it back and the girl out front recognized that it wasn't medium rare and took it back. Waited another 15 minutes for our new steak and it was pretty great!
