As a transplanted New Yorker, finding pizza by the slice in LA is near impossible. But I found it here. They have several kinds of slices of pizza. My two favorites are the white pizza (garlic, Parmesan, mozzarella- no red sauce) and Sicilian. This is square with cheesy crust, tomato sauce and laced with pesto. So good. You can also order whole pies. The restaurant dining is outdoors under roof shades. The vibe is cool, family friendly. You eat at long picnic tables. The service is quick; servers bring your food after you go in and order. Polite and extremely helpful. Salads are great too! Stop by and order a slice and a salad. Also try their meatballs. I can't stop coming here! And it helps bring business back to Altadena. My new favorite hangout in the 626. read more

Recently tried prime pizza and it was delicious! I have a few spots that hold my heart but this was a great spot to try that was in the area! The spicy pepperoni was really great and it had a nice crispy crust. I love the location as it has great parking and it's more closer to a neighborhood. The location previously was patticakes, which was the local bakery everyone would go too. It was sad to see them go but happy to see new tenants bringing in good food. read more

Overall solid pizza for the SGV area. They don't skimp on the sauce or toppings! I haven't tried the other locations but from what I heard from friends, this Altadena location seems more generous with the amount of toppings they gave. I'm sure the pizza tastes even better fresh but I had it a party where it had been in the box for some time. I still really liked the sausage kale pizza as that was still tasting really good after being in the car for a while. The kale is a good mix to the pizza! The square pizzas were ok but I think because we didn't have it fresh, it was slightly soggy so note that if you're taking to-go. read more

First, I've been here quite a few times, but I'm ready to give away my rewards points. I think I'm done for good. I really love the food. The pizza is great and their ranch/blue cheese dressing are really great. But I hate, hate, haaaaate their order pickup process. Tonight I ordered online at 5:48 with a pickup time of 6:08. I got their at 6:02 and put my name in at the door. The guy out front handling these pickup orders seems to serve no other purpose other than avoiding eye contact from angry stares during a busy time and shouting your name to a busy counter that doesn't even seem to be listening for names. After 20 minutes of delay I checked in only to have him ask my name again and shout it back to no one. At 30 minutes of delay I asked him for an update to just have him ask my name again and shout at no one..at 40 minutes I asked if he had my ticket, wanna guess what he did? Asked my name and shouted it back to no one. 50 minutes in I asked if they were tracking it and if I could get an update since I didn't see a receipt at his podium that had my name on it. He asked my name and shouted it backwards. At 6:58 I decided I can't wait an hour for pizza without some idea of whether they're even tracking my order. This time I passed the feckless doorman and went inside to try and get an update from someone else and maybe even a refund if no one could give me some idea of whether my order is even being tracked. As I approached the counter, my order came out, of course, nearly an hour after the online order said I should pick it up. Look, I get it was a very busy Friday night. If the system online had reflected at all how busy it was, I would have gone somewhere else or maybe just left later. But I drove down to stand around and get annoyed. Annoyed not because it was busy and everyone behind the counter was working hard cranking out orders. I was annoyed because of the useless handling of my request for an update. If you can't project the time it's going to take, say that. If someone asks if you actually have my order, please look into it. Instead I got nothing. To add insult to injury I mentioned I was trying to get a refund and the woman that handed me my pizza said "a refund?!?" in a tone mocking me. They're busy, I get it, but I don't have to deal with it anymore. I'm so done with prime pizza. It's good, but you can throw a rock in any direction and hit another pizza place. I'll miss the ranch, they won't miss me, but I'm not trying to be annoyed on a Friday night. That's offensive to the gods of pizza. read more

My favorite is the Sicilian, Grandma and White. I do like the square pizzas here more than the slice pizzas due to the extra crunchy edge! You have to eat it as soon as it comes out, it not as good once it cools down. I guess you can always reheat in in your air fryer at home, but I haven't had the need since I would just eat everything there. Lotsa outside seating so it's pet friendly! This is actually our closest location in SGV. On our recent visit we even try the meatball sandwich and the chicken parmesan sandwich. Whoa, that was definitely a game changer. I need to watch my waistline because now I want BOTH the pizzas and the sandwiches. Get on the mailing list because they do send out coupons from time to time. read more

Pros: 1. My new favorite is their sandwich. I love the chicken parm and the meatball sandwich. The bread is so amazing and toasty and not hard, not stale, not dense, and not dry. Amazingly it also holds for a day or two (because I always order too much) and it's still good later. Either the other locations don't have it or I never noticed, but I'll go all the way here just for this one item. 2. I love their pizza (esp. the thicker squares) because it is light and toasty and doesn't feel heavy or greasy. But, it is still satisfying. 3. So far all the people seem nice. Cons: 1. Not enough parking, especially for such a popular place at night, but even in the middle of the day when it doesn't feel crowded, there aren't enough places to park. 2. While the pizza is fantastic fresh out of the oven, I find that the pizza is not as good once it cools. 3. Though the original is good, the toppings/flavors on the square slices are too limited - would love a non-spicy pepperoni or some other combinations so that I can order more and have every square be a different flavor. read more

Prime Pizza has arrived in Altadena and we couldn't be more excited. We usually order from here at least once a week. The cheese and pepperoni pizzas are my personal favorite! And if you happen to go on the weekends, you'll catch Bevel Coffee outside as well! The pizzas are made fresh and are pipping hot. Lots of outdoor seating and minimal indoor seating. Parking is limited but there's lots of street parking as well. Overall, location is very helpful for folks that live near the area. This location does surprisingly well considering it is situated further up north from the freeway. I would definitely recommend stopping by when you're in the area! read more

When we asked about it 3 times given that these families payed after us came after us and also got pizza by the slice. When the pizza came they apologized and said "we burned the first slices" but we were clearly annoyed and hangry. Also hard to believe they burned them and 5 parties got theirs first. All parties had come in gradually, and they had clearly forgotten our order. They offered to comp our full meal and they did. The pizza was great the spicy pepperoni was by far our fave. I love New York style pizza. I've been wanting to try Prime Pizza since they opened in Altadena. So when I saw that they had a $36 family meal and I had to go check it out right away. The family meal included an 18 inch cheese pizza, caesar salad and garlic knots. This was a really good deal in my opinion. It fed our family of four and we were all pretty satisfied. I thought the pizza was really good. It totally satisfied my craving for a NY style pizza. The caesar salad was really good as well. It felt like it was put together when we ordered it, instead of being pre-packed hours ago sitting in the fridge. The lettuce was really fresh and crisp. The dressing had a nice kick to it as well. I ordered online and it took only about 18 minutes for it to be ready for pickup. I'm a fan and will definitely be back. read more

My friends and I (4 people in total) ordered meat lovers square pizza, supreme, garlic knots. and chicken wings for delivery. The food was solid. I'm usually not super huge into lots of meat, but my favorite pizza was meat lovers. I loved the fluffy crust! It is a thicker pizza, so if you prefer New York style, you may enjoy the supreme more. Ordered online at 6:30 pm and was told that my order would be ready at 7:00 pm. I drove in the rain and arrived at that time and was told that my order wasn't ready yet. That's fine I don't mind waiting a little. Almost 30 minutes pass by and someone finally from the back noticed that I've been standing around for a while. They looked inside the heated holding cabinet and took out a box with a bit of a concerned look and that's when I knew my pizza was ready the whole time I was waiting but the staff in the front never bothered to really check for my order. The prices are a bit high for what you get. I ordered the grandma square for $30. I thought my kids would like a plain cheese pizza. The tomato sauce was very sour. It doesnt taste cooked at all. I think it gets dolloped on just before coming out. The sour tomato sauce was disliked by my kids. The acidity does cut through the grease and makes it not feel as heavy though. Just not so kid friendly. Maybe the round slices would be a better choice. Overall a pricey pizza that was just ok. I have another Pasadena pizza place i got to for Detroit pizza. Don't order the gluten free pizza. A standard 18' regular pizza is $30. A got a whole gluten free pizza for $25, thinking it was comparable. No one said anything about the size. Rejoice! Prime has arrived in Altadena. Thank goodness because I was tired of going to little Tokyo. From what I understand, opening weekend was lit. Very,very busy! Popped by today for lunch and it was busy but not insane (no line). Parking here is going to be a problem if they keep up the crowds. There are not tons of spots, maybe 10 or so. Pizza was great as always & the staff was really nice. Everyone seemed to be working really hard. I got the spicy pepperoni & grandma slices. I didn't realize they had pasta but they have a vodka pasta and a Bolognese that I will definitely be trying. I am thrilled this is now closer to my stomping grounds and I will definitely be stopping by often! read more

Superb food all around and a perfect neighborhood-locus vibe. Friendly staff and very community-oriented business. I lean towards the Sicilian-style thick-crust rectangular pizza, but it's all great. Love that a well-known pizza joint opened up in Altadena. Altadena is becoming a new hot spot for restaurant openings and Prime Pizza is one of them. I'm a fan of thin crust pizzas and had to give their pepp pizza a try. The dough had the perfect crisp to chew ratio and I loved the cups of pepperoni on top. I do wish their sauce had more flavor and the cheese was more melty, because the cheese firmed up quickly. I'd rate the pizza an 8.2. The popular vodka slice was cold by the time I ate it, because the whole pie took about 30 minutes to prepare. I thought this slice was alright, but I'd come back for a simple pepp or cheese slice. Came here and ordered two pizzas, costing $80. Was told that I could not modify my pizza. I've been modifying my pizza at this location for a few years now and all of a sudden they've become a pizza joint where you can't make any modifications. This is ridiculous. What kind of a pizza place doesn't allow you to add toppings make light toppings or add more toppings. It's the most absurd explanation for any pizza joint. After my first experience, I was contacted by the manager and offered a chance for them to make up for the situation. I was offered a gift card for the amount of my first purchase. I thanked them and approved of the gesture. Then I was asked over the course of a few emails to get them my order (which was in the review) and receipts to prove the order. To witch they gave me a $30 (slightly less than the purchase) digital gift card. I went back and used that to grab a pizza for the family. I got the half/half square pizza. Half Grandma and Half Meat Lovers. Asked for extra sauce. This time around, I ordered online. I arrived about 5 min before they said and shortly after I received a text that my order was ready. Lucky for me it wasn't that busy. I picked up my pizza and decided that I wanted to try it fresh out of the oven. So I sat at a table and had a corner cut. Good god in heaven it was tasty, crunchy and so flavorful. I rushed home and the family enjoyed the rest. So... I am thankful that Prime Pizza went to the effort to redeem themselves and have done so in strong fashion. My Pro Tip for everyone out there would be this: Order Online for pick up. Then: sit at the tables and enjoy your slices piping hot and melting... the way the good lord intended us to. But also be ready to take it home because the parking lot and tables can be a madhouse. We tried Prime Pizza for the first time last night. We wanted to support this local business, affected by the Eaton Canyon Fire. It was delicious!! We ordered two half and half pizzas: white pizza and kale/sausage, and Sicilian and pepperoni. Loved them all! We have tons of leftovers to enjoy too. I really loved the half and half options.
