I judge a pizza place by their classic OG slice, I tried both the grandma and the regular slice. The regular slice seemed reheated and did not look fresh. The grandma slice was still kind of cold when they served it when I'm paying five dollars for a slice of pizza I would expect it to be fresh and hot. I tried to give this place another chance even going to their Burbank location. Pizza absolutely sucks!!! Dry and bland. During my last visit to the Altadena location two ladies who were there together had two their dogs with them (they were not service dogs) which they let the dogs roam all around the outside sitting area while people were dining. They were going under the tables and disturbing the diners. One of the employees came outside to serve food to other customers and began playing with the dogs and conversing with the owner. She not once asked the owners the proper ADA service animal questions and continued to let the dogs. She then went inside did not wash her hands and continued to service customers. I am super disgusted with this place. read more

To be honest the service isn't great, the pizza is greasy and way overpriced PLUS they are a nuisance to the neighbors. The cars park everywhere blocking driveways and they play music that can be heard down the street until closing. read more

I want to start off by saying I was excited to visit prime pizza in Altadena for the first time, but I was sorely disappointed with my experience. I looked up their website primepizzala.com and saw that the wait time was 72 minutes so I ordered ahead of time so I wouldn't be sitting there hangry. Unfortunately when I arrived I was notified that part of my order was to be refired and would have to wait and extra 25 minutes while my other pie sits out in the cold I wouldn't mind the wait time, but I gave them 72 minutes to prepare my order and when I asked for an explanation they tried to push the blame on me for putting two orders and then claim their system didn't push the second ticket 30 minutes after I actually ordered the pizza. I was just looking for some accountability, but instead was given excuses and no way of rectifying the situation. The manager would not look me in the eye and seemed happy when I asked to cancel my second order and be done with me. I'm not saying the food isn't great, but expect to wait longer than their ordering system displays because according to the manager the establishment is busy and there's nothing he can do about it. I recommend going down the road to Pie Life pizzeria in Pasadena, where u can expect your order in time, if not early and with smile. Plus prepare for the terrible parking situation. Usually pizza is pretty good. It's thin and light. They really hardly put any sauce on usually so I wanted a little extra. Holy moly! They put about 5 pounds of sauce on, pizza was raw and soup like. Absolutely disgusting. No one would ever want that much sauce on a pizza. Couldn't even tell if there was cheese. Worst $40 I ever spent. Threw away the pizza and will hopefully be getting a refund. Things I love about Prime Pizza: 1. Perfect little charming neighborhood pizzeria that serves the classics. 2. The thin crust pizza is outstanding. The ratio of sauce to cheese to crust is perfect. I highly recommend the vodka and white pizzas. 3. Pizza by the slice!! 4. The 90's hip hop playlists are very well curated! 5. Sweet outdoor picnic table seating. First couple of times we had it, it was very good. This time pizza was wrong and cold. Garlic knots cold and I don't understand why the marinara always comes cold out of the refrigerator??? Not happy at all!!! Ok I give up!!! They sent a replacement pizza...it was wrong. Within minutes another pizza showed up...wrong. The order is cheese and pepperoni with sausage on half. To be clear. Last two experiences were not good. Most recently they tell you that delivery within 5 miles is included as they pay for the service provider fee. This is not true. Last order was for a $30 pizza for delivery. Uber was the "vendor". Cost to deliver to less than 2 miles away resulted in total cost being $48. Couldn't cancel on Uber site. Called Prime and first response was that I should call Uber. My reaction was that I'd dispute the charge on my card. Prime then said they'd call Uber which they did. BS performance on the part of Prime Pizza, the representations they make and the vendors they contract with. Their pizza, which is generally in the ok range, is not worth it. This is delicious pizza and very cute inside and out. I ordered the spicy pepperoni and oh my gosh it was so spicy it lived up to its name. They add a spicy sauce for that. The garlic knots were moist and soft and generously topped with garlic and parsley. Be prepared to wait for your whole pizza but find a seat and enjoy their fresh lemonade and garlic knots while you wait. Very busy place. read more

We had planned to stop here during one of our drives back and forth from West Altadena since my wife wanted a more authentic New York style pizza. We decided to make time and stopped for slices but decided to order a whole pizza. When they brought the pizza out it was missing a slice that had gotten slightly burnt so they removed it saying thay did not want to serve poor quality pizza slices. As an apology for having to bring out an incomplete pizza, without any input from us, they made another complete pizza of the same type for us to take with us. The pizza slices we had were very good and now we had another whole pizza to take with us. The service we received was very appreciated. I had to give a second tip. read more

Tried their pizza for the first time yesterday! My friend and I each got a slice of spicy pepperoni and a grandma. Obviously it was busy with it being a Friday night And one of the first weekends this location (Alta dena ) was open. I'd still say customer service was efficient and kind. I usually get worried when a new place is pretty hyped up, but honestly it's really damn good pizza. I'll be back to try some of the other choices! read more

Prime is THE BEST pizza, and I'm so excited they opened a location here! When I moved up to Altadena last year I was genuinely bummed I was moving far away from Prime (I used to order from their little Tokyo location). The quality is just as good as all their other locations, and we will definitely be here all the time! Hi , called at about 850 pm , i wasn't for sure they close at 9 pm. She did say , she can set a few slices aside for me , if i was able to come quik. After i hung up, i realized i didn't specify i wanted only square pizza. I called back , and a guy answered , he said , yes she got me the regular slices , but he would add the square slices. They were very generous , and gave me few extra slices. I had only been there once when they first opened, and had the meat lovers square pizza. It was yummie !!! But thry did give me the spicey pepperoni square slice, it was way too spicey for me !!! And the regular cheese slices were ok , but the cheese us too burnt for me ( i prefer my cheese not burnt ) but the other pizzas were yummie. My favorite is square slices , with just cheese and sauce or meat lovers. If, given the varied choices of incredible pizza restaurants in Pasadena and Altadena that offer perfect pies with mind blowing toppings (Pizza of Venice, 786 degrees, Side Pie, Luggage Room--the list goes on and on), you wanted a basic pizza that was not Dominoes, then Prime Pizza is the perfect place for you. There are only three things that set this place apart: 1. The nice outdoor patio, marred by the addition of a ridiculously large outdoor screen (why?? WHY???) but still nice. 2. A very cool Altadena Public Library vending machine. 3. The fact that you can buy a slice and not a whole pie (frankly after tasting the slice I wouldn't want a whole pizza). It's. Just. Basic. I drove to the new location tonight and I can't be more excited that it's a ten minute straight shot from my house to Altadena. I sat in the driver seat like an old man listening to The Velvet Underground driving up the dark winding road through old rancho land. Arriving at their new spot, the location felt like an old Dairy Queen - in the middle of what looked like small town Americana - lit up and filled with a buzz about it. The restaurant was humming and everything felt like it was running smoothly, not bad for only just opening a few days before. I was a little early but didn't have to wait long at all before snatching my coveted Supreme pie, still steaming and way too long since I've tasted it. I drove home one hand on the box, guarding my prize which tasted as good as I remember. Soft, yet crispy crust with classic ingredients and sauce. We used to live next to the downtown location and missed it immensely. Don't know what we did to get lucky enough to be a quick ten minute drive to their new location, but I'll take it. read more

The food is ok that's not the concern. I ordered a chicken parm sandwich which came out to about $16 after tax. I've always wanted to try their pizza but it's around $4.50 a slice and to be completely honest the food isn't worth the high prices they have it listed for! That along with the employees not accepting my coupon code that was supposed to take around $6 off my meal is why I give this place a one . I don't waste your time or money here.
