This was one of the best pizza-related choices I've made in Southern California. Parking is a little tough...I ended up parking a few blocks away on a main street, which was fine, but didn't notice there was a public parking structure available closer behind a building across the street. The place was crowded and lively on the early Saturday evening I was there. That's a great sign...I was just getting a slice to go, but overheard the host telling people it would only be 10-15 minutes for a table. I had a classic cheese slice. (My litmus test for NY pizza at a new location.) It was FANTASTIC. Easily among the very best crusts I've had on the west coast...super thin and crispy...exactly as it should be. The balance of sauce and cheese was also perfect. Too many pie shops seem to treat sauce as an afterthought...too thin a layer, almost not tastable. But not here...it was perfect...the right amount of everything. There are other really delectable looking pizza options, even for vegetarians like me, including a fascinating "Cacio E Pepe" and a Margherita. (I also saw one which looked all sauce like a tomato pie, which looked really good. (Plus other options like Fried Brussels Sprouts or Fried Cauliflower...cheese bread, and salads. The beer menu, as one would expect with "pint" in the name, is extensive with lots on tap and "guest" brewery selections. Lots of wines to choose from as well. Slice and Pint may be local to El Segundo (lucky El Segundonians!) But my experience with this one slice is that it would be worth the drive from anywhere in SoCal to eat here...If you love NYC-style thin slices...like real legitimate ones...charge up the car and get yourself there.

After finding a table, we went back up ready to order and the server responded pretty rudely: "Did you not hear what I said?" I completely understand restaurants get busy and mistakes happen, especially in a loud environment, but the attitude felt unnecessary over a simple misunderstanding. We ended up leaving and went to Japonica around the corner instead, where the service was much friendlier.

Ready to go all in on the Jeepney (out of curiosity. I've never actually been to the Philippines, so wouldn't have been able to judge). Bartender says, "um. We're pretty low on food" and proceeds to cover the entire bottom half of the menu (which is the pizza), leaving only the bar bites as available. So: heated up frozen pretzel was solid. And hot when delivered. The beer was tasty. Could prob warrant a fourth star for the space. But since I walked almost two miles for the pizza, and now have to solve separately for dinner, pretty disappointed. So was gonna do three stars. But Todd (the bartender) was super nice at the end, gave me the back story (busy weekend = no pizza), so redeemed the fourth star. Will prob go back to try the pizza. Just not on a Tuesday.

SERVICE: 5. VALUE: 4. PARKING: Small Private lot up front, more in the back. Street also available. OVERALL: 4.5. The only little snag?! The pie was sliced into four pieces which were a bit too big for my personal preference. Will most likely request for 8 slices the next time. There will be a next time! The scallops were seared perfectly with great texture. The Braised Short Rib Lumache was also delicious, although the beef was a little richer than I personally prefer. We also had the Roasted Salmon with fregola and broccolini, which was cooked well and nicely balanced. Our server was amazing--attentive, helpful, and provided great service throughout the night. My issue was with my most recent experience. I'm not a fan of the large tomato chunks in the deep dish sauce, so during a previous visit, an employee told me they could substitute their regular pizza sauce. She warned me that it could make the dough soggier, but I accepted that risk, ordered it that way, and the pizza came out perfect. I returned about two weeks later and ordered it exactly the same way. A newer employee told me he had been instructed never to make a deep dish with that sauce because it could affect the dough. I explained that another employee specifically told me to order it this way and that I had already tried it and loved it. I was willing to pay for it and completely accepted the risk, but he still refused to make it. I don't blame the employee because he made it clear that he was new and was simply following the instructions he had been given. My issue is with the inconsistency and how the situation was handled. I ended up leaving with nothing because they refused to make an order they had made for me just two weeks earlier. The pizza itself is great, but this was a very disappointing customer service experience.
