Prince dumpling's exteriors make it look like it's not even open but they're still in soft opening. At the entrance you can see the chefs prepare the XLBs just like DTF. There's lot of seating inside and service was pretty good. Kurobuta XLB: very thin skin and the XLB is full of soup. The flavor was okay but honestly it couldn't beat DTF or even other restaurants in the area. black sesame XLB: no issues and these were pretty good. They were slightly oily though due to the filling. Chocolate XLB: note there's no mochi like that in DTF but overall not bad - the chocolate isn't super sweet too BBQ pork bun (pan fried): there was some soup inside and overall the crisp was great. Again, the bun was just okay - Mr Dragon or Ding's garden is more flavorful. Vegetable and pork spicy wonton: this was the most disappointing dish. The sauce was completely different - it lacked the traditional garlicy vinegar flavor. Would not recommend this dish. Pork cutlet noodle: although the noodles look plain, they're garlic noodles and were good in flavor. The pork cutlet was on the fatty end but had a nice crisp on it. As a Chinese, I am so happy to find this gem for dumplings and xiao long bao in SGV and is soft opening now. I had to give it a try and the experience exceeded my expectations. They have variety of dishes, such as xiao long bao, freshly made pan fried dumplings, lobster abalone noodle soup and all tasted so good!!! The pan fried dumpling & xiao long bao( lobster flavor, spain ham flavor & prok flavor) over here are freshly made, super juicy, filled with high quality ingredients, nice balance of the ingredients and flavors. They it came out all fresh and hot, nice for any day. The lobster abalone noodle soup was so natural and delicious, probably the best lobster abalone soup I ever had in LA. Their side dish-cold jellyfish was very refreshing, and dessert- green bean cake ( no sugar added) was super healthy and taste great. The place is pretty big, the service is so awesome. The 4 of us had dinner here recently and service was top notch. The workers spoke mandarin, cantonese & english and checked on our table often. Even though we ordered many items, everything came out quickly. We actually ran out of room on our table. I liked how when you order hot water, they would give you a whole kettle! We shared 2 XLBs, scallion pancake, fried dumplings with pork and chives, cucumber salad, stir fry green beans, pork fried buns, beef noodles soup, dan dan mein with minced pork. The XLBs were great, the skin were thin and it was quite juicy. Just eat it right away because they cool down quickly. The pan fried pork bun were a bit misleading because on the English menu it says BBQ pork buns, alas it was just regular pork. I do like the added sesame on the bottom for the extra salty flavored. Prince dumpling is a new restaurant that is open in the GW Plaza. They serve similar items to Din Tai Fung, especially the Xiao Long Bao. The service was nice and they were happy to provide recommendations. The Ambiance was your typical busy Asian restaurant. We ordered a variety of dishes, including pork Xiao Long Bao, Taro Xiao Long Bao, black paper beef stir fried Udon, and the lobster and Seafood Noodle soup. The pork Xiao Long Bao was standard. Be careful of the hot soup inside! The lobster and Seafood Noodle soup was a big portion and definitely meant to share. My wife enjoyed the lobster tail but it was a bit salty. My favorite was the black pepper beef stir fried. It was very flavorful and the beef was very tender. New restaurant takeover right next to GW Supermarket! The space looks really nice and clean and you see the employees making dumplings right in front of the entrance! I really like how spacious the restaurant was, but definitely may need more seating since it's quite popular right now for their soft opening. I went with my family as a large party and they are very accommodating with that. The service was quick and they were all so friendly. I believe the manager (?) would visit from time to time and he was very humorous as well. The good thing about dining with a large party is that you get to try so many different items since it's shared family style. Now we ordered from fried rice to XLB. Starting with their famous XLBs, they looked very promising to try although there wasn't that much soup in them! It was definitely meaty, but lacked the soup and the soup is always the best part to me. The meat was also a bit lacking in flavorful as well. Also the Shanghai rice cakes were also lacking in flavor and could be chewier as well. The wontons were okay, also may need more flavor. I would say the one dish I actually liked was the braised beef noodle soup. The broth was really nice and the beef was really tender! The noodles could be better, but it was decent enough since it absorbed the broth well. We did order a lot more other things but I don't remember too much since many were very underwhelming. Compared to Din Tai Fung, I personally like DTF better. Onto the desserts, we ordered the red bean and taro xlb. I liked the taro xlb better because that one was more smooth and not that sweet at all. The red bean one was not that sweet either, but wasn't as smooth as the taro. On a Saturday for lunch during soft open, wait was maybe 45mins. Inside is fully renovated and the staff is quite nice/helpful. Food came quick once you do get to sit down. It is impossible to dine at Prince Dumpling and not draw comparisons to a famous dumpling restaurant in the area with three letters in its name. The menu is incredibly similar. That said, the two are not the same. Beef Noodle Soup was a hit. This was served with thick slices of tender braised beef shank, which is always a good sign. The broth was very flavorful and actually made with real beef. The pork XLB were also good, with thin wrappers, beautifully wrapped with many folds and juicy pork. The pork cutlet over fried rice was a solid dish. We liked the generous pork chop and the fried rice was pretty good, a version with lots of diced vegetables included. Taro XLB for dessert were a not-too-sweet treat. Cucumber appetizer. Not the same. The cucumbers weren't nearly as crisp, or the sauce as unique. Spicy pork wontons - the sauce tasted of plain chili oil so it lacked the savoriness I was hoping for. The pan fried dumplings were under-fried - the skins felt too thin and not crisp enough. There's a lot of buzz surrounding Prince Dumpling since they opened so I decided to check it out on a Friday night. It was a full house and there was a bit of a wait so with the hype and crowd combined I went in with pretty high expectations. We got: pork kurobuta xiao long bao, crab pork xiao long bao, sheng jian bao, kurobuta pork fried rice and the salt and pepper pork chops. Prices were pretty good compared to a lot of similar restaurants these days. The xiao long baos were constructed well. They were piping hot upon arrival and very heavy with soup, with thin skin that's just thick enough to withstand the weight of the filling. All these traits make for a well made soup dumpling; however, despite being very juicy, the soup taste was bland - I couldn't taste any flavor. If the broth were richer, these would have been 5/5. The sheng jian bao was disappointing. The pork filling was dry and bland, and the skin was under pan fried - crispy on the bottom but at the top the dough was too soft. The pork chops were fried well that they were really crispy, however, like everything else above, was bland. The best dish was the fried rice and, for how few ingredients they use, it was really packed with flavor from the kurobuta pork. I'd definitely get this again if I come back. The service was very professional. Waiters were attentive, quick to respond and food came out fast. Overall, I think this place is overhyped. A bit disappointed that the best dish was the fried rice and not the dumplings when that is what the restaurant is known for. I think for the most part, all the dishes were executed well - it's just the flavor that it's lacking. Mama Lu has nearly identical dishes and their execution is very similar to Prince's, but richer in flavor. read more

This is a new gem in the 626 area! The service is here is great, giant parking lot, and beautiful interior. The food itself is wonderful. Very tasty and great presentation. Our favorite were the green beans, pork XLB, and the signature salad. Great ambiance, it's not too loud, and thankfully no loud music playing either. Will definitely be returning! read more

After hearing from quite a few folks about Prince Dumpling, we ventured out to Rosemead to try it. Short wait, fast service, good food, and reasonable prices. What is there not to like! Ordered quite a few things from the extensive menu and everything tasted pretty good and came out quickly. Service was quite nice and better than any other chinese restaurants I have been to for a while. We ordered more than the pictures show, and that was most likely because i showed up pretty hungry after a long run earlier in the day. I just couldn't wait to start devouring this delicious food. Found this restaurant on Yelp tonight and noticed I wasn't familiar with the name. I went based on the high reviews and was pleasantly surprised that they are new (in soft opening mode currently). I'm happy to report: the food is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, the service is good (and bound to get better as they get into their groove). The XLB was a solid A -- thin skin, tasty broth, and a good size. Trust me, I know a thing or two about XLB. Pretty tasty dumplings! I found Prince Dumpling on social media - because people were raving that this was a Din Tai Fung dupe. We ordered: Beef noodle soup: 4/5 - pretty good! I was a little reluctant but pleasantly surprised. The broth is light, yet still flavorful. And the noodles were cooked perfectly (still firm, yet chewy and delightfully slippery)! Pan Fried baos (sheng jian bao): 4/5 very juicy and yummy! I think I liked KangKang's better, but these were not bad! Pork XLB: 4/5 Pretty good XLB, but didn't blow me away. One of my xlb's broke ): Crab XLB: 3.5/5 The crab flavor didn't really come thru for me, so it's not worth the extra price. Dan dan noodles: 2/5 I didn't love this dish at all - it was very thick and heavy and the noodles felt clumpy and overcooked. Chinese broccoli (gai lan): 5/5 I usually don't order gai lan at restaurants, but I really liked how they executed it here. Very crunchy and tender, and flavorful! Shrimp and pork spicy wontons: 5/5 you can't go wrong with spicy wontons. The ones here are HUGE and very flavorful. This was my favorite of the night. This order was for 4 girls and we finished everything with no leftovers (although we could have done without the dandan noodles). The total came out to about $35 per person. All in all, Prince dumpling is tucked away in the Great Wall market plaza. The service is very attentive but the interior felt a little claustrophobic (lack of windows/lighting) and cheap. There weren't any menus with photos and you were only provided with the order sheet. Luckily, I usually go for the classics at dumpling spots so we ordered the following: pork xlb, chicken spicy wontons, chicken pan-fried dumplings, dan dan noodles, and red bean dumplings for dessert. Service was exceptionally fast and food started coming out not so long after placing the order. We both digged in and surprisingly we finished everything (aside from a couple red bean dumplings that we ended up taking to-go). Total came out to under $70 which was fantastic. When you can see every single Xiao Long Bao being hand made, you know its going to be good. We came to eat on a Sunday night and the place was packed! For a table of 4 at 5pm, we were told the wait would be around 20-45 minutes, luckily it was on the shorter side and we did not have to wait very long. Once you walk in you can see the kitchen where they prepare various foods like their dumplings. They are all hand made individually, so every single dumpling was in fact hand crafted. It's very spacious inside and can accommodate large parties which is nice for large family gatherings. Once we got seated attentive staff were ready to take our order. Cabbage Salad: Very standard stir fry cabbage, a good appetizer and a favorite. Scallion Pancake: Huge pancake, best when crispy and hot. Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao: Dumpling wrappers were delicate and the meat and soup inside were really yummy. Pan Fried Pork Bun: Crispy and almost burned my tongue eating the filling, very juicy and flavorful, probably favorite item. I saw the rave about this place and decided to try them out. The wait time just to get seated on a weekend was about 30 minutes. I ordered pan fried dumplings, pork chive dumplings, a braised beef noodle soup, and pork xiao long bao. They say the xiao long bao is the highlight but the real star was the braised beef noodle soup. In all my years of eating beef noodle soup in san gabriel valley, this one blows everything else out of the water. The noodles were springy and chewy. The broth was strong but not overly spicy. The beef was tender and flavorful. It was a literal perfection for what could be called a braised beef noodle soup. The xiao long bao and pan fried dumplings were delicious too. I personally prefer their taste over DTF's. The chive pork dumpling was just average. It wasn't incredible but wasn't bad. Overall, I would just come back for the braised beef noodle soup alone. (which I already have as I am writing this after finishing my second time here) The xiao long bao is definitely a must order as I personally think it's the best I've had in SGV. Cucumber salad was also very delicious. The not so good - pan fried pork bun skin too thick and meat to bun ratio is disappointing. But the meat and soup flavor was good just wish there were more. Actually surprisingly good! I came here with my friends (total party of 5) and we had no expectations. From the service to the food, everything was pretty good. A few of the food items were just okay but here's what we ordered: Signature Salad ($6.95) - probably the best most refreshing dish we ordered that night. Such a good addition to the meal! Would definitely get this again. Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao ($12.99 for 10 pieces) - another good one! They make the skin of the XLB super thin and the juice remains in there pretty well. I would definitely get this again. Pan Fried Pork Bun ($12.99 for 6 pieces) - least favorite of all.. the bottom of the bun was almost too burnt to the point where we can taste that it was burnt. Inside of it was just okay too.. cool that there is juices in there so that was nice. Shrimp and pork spicy wonton ($13.99) - pretty flavorful and good bite of shrimp. I do wish that it was a bit more spicyness to it and maybe a bit more sauce but overall, decent. Braised Beef Noodle Soup ($14.95) - very flavorful but not the best I have had. Beef was tender so that was nice. Black Pepper Beef Stir Fry Udon ($15.95) - super basic and probably would not order this again but I suppose it's a a good filler dish for the carbs if you want to feel more full. Pocket Pancake ($13.99 for 4 pieces) - didn't like this too much either. I wish they had beef rolls instead because the exterior of it was too thick and greasy. Probably wouldn't order this again Overall, pretty good place! The XLB are definitely great and I would come back here to try the other ones. read more

I don't know how this place has 4.5 stars in SGV, where even the best Chinese food is typically 3.5 stars. Maybe the food went downhill or something - I mentioned trying this place to a friend who agreed this place is disappointing. Anyone who says this place is better than DTF- well it is cheaper but the taste/quality was significantly worse for every dish. The crab xlb was ok - juicy but lacking in flavor. The shrimp and pork wontons were overcooked so the skin was mushy. The chive and pork fried dumpling had a sad dumpling skirt as it was not crispy enough and the flavor was average. The waitress recommended their salt and pepper pork chops - a classic Chinese dish that I've had at a million places and this dish is always good even at the most mediocre Chinese restaurant. We decided to try it and that was a big mistake as it was shockingly bad. We wondered if they had refried a leftover dish because it was so dry and overfried af. The seasoning was good but the execution was terrible. More people came later on but we were the only customers when we arrived so they were not busy but our food was prepared so badly. On the plus side their portions are decent and it's fairly new and clean looking. However the bathroom floor is so sticky that my shoes made a sticking sound walking in the bathroom and then back to the table. Also service was really subpar cause the waitress asked if we liked the food and we indicated it was disappointing and she just said oh and walked away. o2.15.2o24 Dining out kind of night. I first heard of this place from SGV Eats on FB. Then we were around the area so we decided to come here. It was almost full house when we arrived a bit past 7 pm, but we did get seated immediately. We got one pork xiao long bao, one crab xiao long bao, one pan fried pork and chives, one scallion pancake, and a Dan Dan noodle. I don't remember the noodle being marked as spicy, but it was a little spicy. Our kid ate a few bites, and he would drink some water after each bite. It's so funny. So the one we got was pretty flavorful if you asked me. It's not the best I had, but it's ok. The noodle was kind of thin and got soggy fast. The scallion pancake was ok. It wasn't crispy or flaky enough to me. The pan-fried dumplings were presented nicely with the crispy side up. However, a couple of the dumplings were open when I picked it up, so all the juice leaked out. The flavor was average. I feel like something was missing. We liked the xiao long bao. The pork one I can give a 5-star. You must eat it while it's still hot for better flavor. I was very impressed with the ingredients on the wrap. It was almost stretchy and bouncy that it didn't rip when we picked it up, while a lot of places did. The wrap was almost very thin. The crab one, you can definitely see and taste the crab meat. I see a lot of people comparing to Ding Tai Fung... maybe I'm missing something here. Is it the old chef from DTF? I didn't make ant comparisons, but I think the xiao long baos were great. read more

I have been seeing this restaurant on my instagram feed and how it's comparable to DTF. I was excited to try this restaurant on a Wednesday night. Since it was raining, there was no wait. Spicy pork and shrimp wontons 3/5- it was just ok. I had better Hot and sour soup 3.5/5- at the first bowl, it felt like something was missing in the soup like a lack of flavor. However on my second bowl of soup, it tasted so much better. Maybe because all the flavors were all at the bottom? Pork XLB 3/5- it tasted ok, I like DTF better Braised beef noodle soup 4/5- I actually like this dish, the beef was tender and the soup had flavor but my friends thought otherwise. Cucumber salad 3/5- it was nothing unique. Cucumbers were fresh but I prefer mines with a hint of vinegar and this didn't have any. Black pepper beef udon 4/5- this was our favorite dish out of all the food we tried. The udon was chewy and flavorful. Overall, I would give this restaurant a 3.5/5. The food was ok to me. However, the service was 5/5. The waiters were really attentive and friendly. Food came out fast and the waiters check in with our table a couple of times. Parking can be difficult on the weekends since there is GW supermarket next to the restaurant. read more

This place popped up in my hometown so I thought I'd give it a shot. It's located directly to the left of GW. It's bright pink so you can't miss it. The parking at this shopping mall gets crazy busy but you could always find street parking off Muscatel. Came here on Lunar New Year around 11:30am and didn't have to wait. The service was quick and the staff was friendly. Between the two of us we ordered the pork XLB, spicy pork wontons, Dan Dan noodles, hot and sour soup, and the gluttonous rice siu mai. This was definitely too much food and we had plenty of leftovers. The prices are reasonable. My favorites were the hot sour soup and Dan Dan noodles. The Xlb was good but prefer DTF. Honestly, I would pass on the siu mai. read more
