Not excellent or must have, but just decent, quick fill you up food. The place is barely noticeable from outside. Inside, there are ample tables but packed during lunch time. The service is not friendly or comforting but rather "what'll you have, here is it, and get out" atmosphere. Once you order a noodle soup, it comes out fairly quick. Ordered #1 with egg noodles and #4 with rice noodles, came out within few minutes as if they just put in precooked noodles, with meat toppings and pour in the broth. The food was a tad bit small portioned for a male diners but tyoical females diners seem to be content with the portions. Caution for those who are wary to ethnic foods. For me, the broth was not clean but rather herbal, like Chinese herbal medicine. If you are used to and have taste for sullug tang (Korean beef soup), Japanese ramen, or pho (Vietnamese soup noodle), this stuff will or make you gag or retch due to the taste. Luckily, they have pepper, pickled chili and sauces to cover up that weird herbal odor and taste. I put in a lot of pepper, pickled chilis and few spoonfuls of Sriracha sauce. Every time I come here, I order the #1 on the menu: Assorted Meat & Shrimp with Egg Noodles or Rice Noodles. Occasionally, I'll branch out and try other noodle dishes, especially those featuring fish balls, since Teochew cuisine is famous for its excellent fish balls. For any noodle dish, you'll have two choices: dry or soup, along with your choice of noodles. I highly recommend the rice noodles (the broad, flat ones), which are the cornerstone of classic Teochew comfort food. I almost always order the dry version, which still comes with a bowl of soup on the side. The dry noodles are tossed in a more concentrated sauce, making every bite especially flavorful. What really sets Kim Kee apart is its shallot oil. I honestly think it's one of the best I've had anywhere in Greater LA. It's deeply aromatic, with a rich shallot flavor, while remaining clean, balanced, and never greasy. Combined with the soy sauce and a spoonful of the accompanying broth, it creates an incredibly satisfying sauce for the noodles. I usually customize it even further by adding lots of the house hot sauce, the pickled jalapenos, and a splash of the table vinegar (in the same jalapenos jar). A special shout-out goes to the hot sauce, which is actually the satay sauce (Shacha), a Teochew/Taiwanese condiment specialty and homemade, I believe. It appears to be made with roasted dried shrimp and red chilies, creating an incredible combination of savory, toasty umami, and spicy heat. That extra layer of flavor pairs exceptionally well with the dry noodles. The fish balls and meatballs are also above average. They may not be the absolute best I've had, but they're definitely better than those at many other noodle shops in the area. They have a nice, springy texture and are consistently cooked just right. Overall, Kim Kee Noodle Cafe serves some of the best Teochew-style noodles I've found in Greater Los Angeles. I've eaten Teochew noodles across many different traditions - from Cambodian interpretations to Vietnamese versions to more traditional Teochew restaurants - and Kim Kee remains my favorite so far. For the mei wong //#26 i think they salt the white noodles because that one can get a little salty for some but it adds flavor. This is such a hidden gem in SGV! I have been craving for Hong-Kong-style fish ball noodles for so long and this restaurant offer a lot of choices. The staff speak Cantonese and they are super nice! Kim Kee Noodle Cafe whips out one of the best egg noodle soup bowls in the San Gabriel Valley (SGV) area. No doubt about that. My Mom, my brothers and their families, and I were here for lunch the day after New Year's 2026. They do take reservations if you have a large party. Inside space is still the same as before... very snugged. Do come early if you can. Parking is still limited behind the restaurant. I had to park on the street just a few minutes away. I went with my usual... fish and shrimp with thick egg noodles, but this time in dry style. Fresh ingredients. Tons of egg noodles which I like. However, I wished the fish fillet slices were thicker and shrimps were bigger. A small bowl of chicken broth came on the side. My favorite childhood restaurant!! I grew up with this restaurant for at least two decades now. Everytime I am back home in the 626, I order their #1 which is the assorted meat and shrimp rice noodle, but with soup on the side. I lovee this dish so much. I put hoisin saice and a little red vinegar and mix it all together and the flavor is amazing. If you aren't familiar with these noodles, this noodle dish is Teochew style chinese noodles. The waitresses all know me and it is so nice to see familiar faces when I am there. I am so happy to see this restaurant still thriving today. I usually go before 10am and there isn't a line. A childhood favorite, growing up in a Chinese Vietnamese household, this is the ideal comfort food! I have fond memories of this spot for their Hu Tieu, I'm happy to see them still doing well. There is a small parking lot available, but I prefer to park on the street since it's easier. They have plenty of tables for sit-down, my family prefers to get take-out. You can pay with card, but there is a charge. Thus, we pay with cash. I always order the #26 Fujian Shrimp & Pork Mei Wong. This comes with the sliced pork and shrimp, minced pork, shrimp cracker, half egg noodles, and half rice noodles with soup on the side. The portions are very generous and I love the thick egg noodles that they use. They also include a chili sauce and jalapeño sauce, I dump it all into the soup and mix it for some spicy flavors. As one of my uncle's favorite restaurants, he invited the four of us to Kim Kee for breakfast. I hadn't been back there for over 2 years, so I said why not since I was really craving egg noodles. I ordered a bowl of seafood and thick egg noodles, with broth on the side. It came with shrimps, fish ball, fish cake, fish fillet, and fried shrimp over fried wonton skin. The food is just mediocre, but the hoisin sauce really helps add some flavor. The egg noodles were really chewy as they were undercooked. We also ordered a plate of fried fish cakes, which were mid. I've had much tastier fish cakes at some Thai restaurants. Service can use some improvements. My cousin ordered iced coffee, and they totally forgot about it. She had to remind the waitress. We had to double check our receipt to make sure that they didn't charge the iced coffee twice. The seating areas were a bit cramped. My uncle and I had to move our chairs closer to the table when our next table fellow diners were getting up. I didn't have a horrible experience, but I can't say I enjoyed my food and dining experience at Kim Kee 100%. There are plenty of other restaurants I would rather go to. For now I'm giving 3 stars, as I'm in no rush to return here. read more

Their #1 special with variety of meat is delicious and I highly recommend trying it. You can choose noodles to your liking - i personally love their thin egg noodles, but the world is your oyster! I eat beef noodle soup often and have never had this happen anywhere else. I flagged it to the staff, and the response was that it's "natural and comes with the beef" -- not a convincing explanation, and not much of an effort to make it right. Checkout made it more awkward: even though I was clearly unhappy with the meal, they still asked about a tip. I ended up leaving one anyway, but the experience overall was unpleasant. I always have to get half big rice noodles and big egg noodles cause I just can't choose. Everything always comes out yummy. I do love getting their sweet soy sauce rice cakes with eggs. It's a good combination with the noodles. Another great combination is getting their chinese donuts with a side of their satay sauce. I am so happy that it has my favorite dish pork kidney, which I believed it's one of their high lighted items . The kidney was poached perfectly tender and doesn't have much its odor . It's served with bean sprouts underneath and topped with ginger soy sauce, which brings a very good flavor. The pork shrimp noodle soup and fried donuts also represented traditional authentic Vietnamese or HK street style food I believed. I loved the housemade table sauce ! The only negative issue was that the MSG , which is used by most Chinese restaurants really gave me a headache and thirsty after the meal ! The flavors are more ethnic Asian cuisine, so for those expecting westernized flavors it's something to keep in mind. We ordered the House Special Pork Kidney, Beef Stew with Rice Noodles, and Chives Cake. House Special Pork Kidney 5/5: prepared with a soy oil sauce and lots of green onions. This dish is almost identical to when you order steamed fish at a Chinese restaurant and they pour the oil/soy sauce over it topped with green onions. The kidney dish looked small, but there was a good amount of pork kidney in it. Beef Stew with Rice Noodles 3/5: There was a good amount of beef and tendon. The broth was a thicker Southeast Asia style. I prefer Chinese beef noodle soup. This was okay, probably wouldn't order again. Chives cake 3/5: This could have had more chives and the "cake" part was not firm, but very soft and reminded me of mochi. It felt like I was eating a savory mochi. I wouldn't order again. It was busy when we arrived around noon on a Saturday and we waited around 20 minutes. There was no wait and plenty of seating available when we left around 1:30. The service was okay.
