Decided to give this place a try after it was recommended to me by a friend. The interior was spacious and well-kept. It was a bit of a pleasant surprise and immediately sets a comfortable tone. The service was quite impressive... extremely attentive, friendly, and quick. 8/10 for the food. 10/10 for the price point 10/10 for the service. The food was definitely solid for the price point. There were a few misses, but the dishes that landed were executed really well. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area! Siu Mai 10/10 - Juicy, plump and perfectly executed. Definitely my favorite dish. Bean Curd Skin Roll in Abalone Sauce 9/10 - Flavorful with an excellent texture. The whole dish was well executed. Beef Chow Fun 8/10 - Solid and flavorful. The beef was tender, and the noodles had a great texture. Yangzhou Fried Rice 8/10 - The rice was moist and the seasoning was spot on. Shrimp Egg 8/10 - Soft and well seasoned. Generously portioned with very plump shrimp. Pork Chop Spicy Salt 8/10 - Crispy and slightly salted. It has a really great texture to it. Salted Fish and Chicken with Eggplant 8/10 - Perfectly seasoned and cooked. Generous portions of chicken, salty fish and eggplant. Chicken Feet 7/10 - It was solid. Not the best, but definitely not bad. House Special Crispy Shrimp Rolls 5/10 - The flavor of the shrimp was okay, but the rolls were really greasy. There were three very small rolls, definitely not my cup of tea. Chili Wonton 3/10 - By far my least favorite dish. The wonton skin tasted very flour-y, and hardly had any filling. Bistro 1968 - One of the best value dim sum spots I've been to lately in the SGV. So here, they have many dim sum dishes around $4.88, which is such a steal for the portion and quality. For dishes like the beef chow fun and steamed fish for about $14.88, making it super affordable for a large group meal. The food came out fresh and hot, and the menu had a lot of variety to choose from. The restaurant gets busy, on weekends but service moved pretty efficiently overall. I heard about their AYCE dim sum promo but that actually made me not want to come because I knew the wait would've been very long, and I hate waiting for a table just to eat. Fast forward to tonight and a suggestion was made to try the $14.88 dinner special at Bistro 1968. Here's my honest review of my experience. * Parking - Self parking behind the restaurant. I came on a Monday night dinner time , and there was only 2 cars in the entire lot. The parking lot was very creepy as it was't too well lit. I could see the kitchen from the structure because the backdoor was left opened. There were boxes and junk littered around the area. * You have to walk through a long hallway from the parking lot to get to the restaurant. There are signs to guide you, but if you're going there for the first time, it could be a bit confusing. * We got there at 7pm and there was only 1 table of customers. I honestly don't know how to describe the decor because it depends on which part of restaurant you're looking at. * Staff were all VERY nice. They gave us free dessert (Egg Tarts and Pineapple Buns) so that was awesome. * Food - I ordered the Fried Fish but it wasn't fully cooked. Some parts were still raw so it had a fishy taste. We ate a few pieces but left most of it untouched. Everything else was pretty much okay except for its temperature - it was lukewarm. Nothing was piping hot except for the steamed Pork Spareribs from their all day dim sum menu. * There were some small gnats that kept flying around and when one actually landed in my food, I just stopped eating altogether. * No alcohol available but definitely not a huge deal. Here's my verdict based on my meal today. First time and unbiased review. I brought my Chinese parent along as well so they could give some feedback. 5 star items *Popcorn chicken. Best eaten right away while it's hot. It's well seasoned and there's a good amount of chicken compared to the flour coating. *The included jasmine tea. 3 star items *Sesame bun. Flavor is on point, just be prepared for some oiliness. *Shrimp noodles. The wrapper was a bit thick, but the shrimp itself was crisp and fresh. *Pork porridge. It seems like they break down the raw rice grains before boiling to cook it faster, which works, but the flavor and texture suffer a bit. 2 stars and below *Egg tart. The crust was way too thick. *Pork bun. Very little filling. *Chili wontons. The wrapper wasn't the right type. *Pork with rice rolls. The rice rolls are too thick, and the rib taste dropped off on the second bite. Sister in law treated us out to dim sum. We ordered way too much! We passed the order form to everyone not realizing how many dishes we ended up ordering. Luckily, we had a table with three walls. For people with kids, it works for when they act up. We're away from most the crowd. We got there around 9:45 and there were only two tables full. It was a holiday weekend but it filled up quickly. We ordered cha shau bao, fried rice, chicken feet, black bean pork, calamari, etc. Too many to mention. So stuffed! The fried rice was a great deal for the size and price. Everything tasted good. The place has an exposed roof which was an interesting design choice. The location itself is huge with covered parking. There's a back and front parking. Dim sum here is epic! Service is fast. I also like the inside decor somewhat antique classic but did not go overboard. Dim sum here is $4.88 each. A variety of classic dim sum choices. You can also pick a green veggie which is typically a special item in other restaurants. Here is smaller potion for the veggie but also $4.88 so perfect for me. As for the tea, there is no charge. They don't have chamomile tea so we just pick pu erh which is fragrant. Covered structure parking in the back. Then you follow the signs and the long winding road to the front of the building/restaurant. Trust the process and the signs will lead you there. Came here on a Saturday around 10 am. We were actually planning on going to Happy AYCE for dim sum but they unfortunately were closed for construction (posted on their front door but not on their social media or sites). Thankfully, I knew of this place because I had driven by in front and saw their AYCE dim sum sign. They have a free spacious parking garage in the back which was very convenient. The inside is larger than I expected, with a lot of tables and high ceilings. The tables were nearly all large and circular for big parties and there were a decent amount of people inside. The service was impeccable. Everyone was quick to see if we were ready to order more and cleared dishes as soon as they were empty. You order the dim sum on a sheet of paper which made it very easy. We opted for tea with our meal, which ended up being $2/person. The AYCE dim sum on Saturday morning was around $26/person. They're getting rid of AYCE dim sum by Dec 2025 but claim each dish will be less than $5 which is still pretty good. Most of the food was excellent and so worth it. We got many orders of the har-gow which were very large. They could've had thinner skin but were still very yummy. I enjoyed the spareribs, pineapple bun, crispy shrimp roll, turnip cake, egg yolk bao, and garlic cucumber. I thought the siu-mai, shrimp rice noodle, egg tart, brown sugar sponge cake, and chicken wings were okay. The one item that stood out as my favorite was the crispy shrimp roll. Food 4/5 - Ordered typical dim sum, everything tasted good and was nice and hot (except egg tarts). Siu-mai was delicious, good size packed with lots of pork (soft with no chewiness). Shrimp in har-gow is good size and cooked perfect (nice bounce texture). Shrimp/leek dumplings have soft skin with good filling portion. Turnip cake has nice char on the outside and soft inside. Rice noodles are very soft. Sponge cake is soft and moist. Egg tarts were definitely baked earlier in the morning as it wasn't warm, crust could be more flaky but it's fine. My MIL wanted to come here with my mom for dim sum which I'm always down for some good dim sum. However, this place was not that. We ordered all the standard dim sum - har gow, siu mai, chicken feet, spare ribs, shrimp rice noodles, turnip cake, cha siu baked baos, century egg congee, bead curd wrapped dumpling, chicken sticky rice, popcorn chicken and egg tart. The siu mai was surprisingly sweet and not in a good way. The chicken feet was cold. The spare ribs were ok. The shrimp rice noodles which are my family's fav and one of the only things my husband eats, so much so that we always get shamed for it cause we order like 6 of them - my husband doesn't share and neither do my kids. The kitchen always checks with us to see if it's a mistake cause we order so much lol but in any case the rice noodles were soft and the shrimp was cooked well but overall the flavor just wasn't there. The turnip cake I thought was good but the kids did not. It wasn't fried enough. Century egg congee came in a little pot with literally one spoon and we had to flag someone down for extra bowls and spoons. It was ok. Lacking in flavor again. Chicken sticky rice had salted egg in it and an abalone sauce. The sauce made the whole thing too soft and mushy and the egg gave it a grainy taste which I didn't mind cause I love salted egg but again the kids did not. Popcorn chicken was pretty solid. Nothing special but solid. Could have done with some basil though. IYKYK The cha siu baked buns though. I saved this review for last cause if you ever have to go here. Order this. Overall, it just wasn't appealing. The parking, now the parking is a mess. It's a covered lot which you can only really turn into if you're going north on San Gabriel. If you're lucky and find parking on the ground level, you're good but by no means folllw the additional parking sign cause then you'll go down a super narrow and steep curve down to the second level which still has limited space. Seems that level is for mostly residents. There's so many good places to eat in the sgv, I'd pass on this. Except for those cha siu baked buns. No. But it's definitely not the worst! Dim Sum is served all day and the restaurant itself is clean and modern. You get a paper and check off what you want, BUT BE WARNED: it's $3.99 extra for each unfinished plate! A lot of the bad reviews are centered around being charged for wasted food and let's be honest- most people are so excited about it being so cheap they don't read everything on the other side of the paper dim sum menu. Three families joined for a weekday lunch at Bistro 1968 for dim sum. There are 5 kids and 5 adults, the restaurant is actually big with its own private parking lot. They have rooms in the back with bigger tables. There are flat screens around the restaurant, decor is modern Chinese restaurant and service is actually good on weekday. The tea they served tastes good too. So we ordered beef fried udon, beef chow fun, char siu bao (bbq buns) baked and steamed, chicken bun, siu mai, shrimp dumpling, lava bun (watery), egg tart and many others. For $20 per person on a weekday lunch is unbeatable with so many dim sum items to choose from (including stir fry noodle, porridge, and even desserts!). The place is spacious and can get packed sometimes. Food service is quick and portion sizes for non steamed dim sum items is a good size so I would suggest start with just 4-5 items if just 2 ppl going. So originally I saw this place on YouTube and tic tok, AYCE for $28 on weekends and holidays, $19.68, M-F. What could go wrong? I was craving dim sum one weekend, so we went to see if this place was worth it. As of Xmas, they changed from ayce to a la carte ordering, at $4.88 per plate. We ate here once for the ayce, and again at $4.88 per plate. To our surprise, it was cheaper a la carte. And we didn't over eat! Parking structure to the rear of the restaurant, entrance to restaurant is available from the parking lot. Place looked clean, nicely decorated, staff was nice and fairly attentive. So far so good. Now for the food. You're given a sheet with items available for the day, Mark off with the amount of how many dish of each item that you want. At the time of our visit the sheet had 44 items to choose from. Dishes came out fairly quick, 3 to 5 minutes, one dish took almost 10 minutes. As we didn't try every dish, honorable mentions go to the har gow, siu mi, shrimp crispy roll, salt & pepper chicken wings & the black bao with warm runny, salty egg yoke. The two dishes that failed were the steamed beef ball, (bland) and the stir fried mix mushrooms. (To salty) Everything else not mentioned was decent or slightly above average. While on a trip to Southern California, staying in San Gabriel Valley, my wife and I were craving dim sum at night and found this place which has All You Can Eat (AYCE) Dim Sum. They have their own parking garage which is a plus. My wife and I went on a Friday night where we were literally the only ones in the restaurant, which made us worried, but after looking online for reviews and checking if they were any violations or controversies, we decided to stay. They have a wide range of dim sum and entrees on their menu. They were made to order and came out hot, hopefully not just because we were the only ones. The food quality was pretty solid, especially their braised chicken feet, their rice rolls and their turnip cake. I hadn't visited this restaurant for several months, so before placing my takeout order, I specifically called and asked whether the dim sum items were still $4.88. I was told they were. The restaurant has very limited parking, and the spaces are usually full. However, when I arrived around noon on a Saturday, I was surprised to find several empty parking spots. The dining room was only about half full, which made me wonder if the recent price increases have affected business. When I picked up my order and carefully reviewed the receipt, I discovered that some items, including the steamed rice rolls, had actually been charged at $6.88. No one informed me of the price increase, even though I had specifically asked about it before placing my order. In my opinion, three small pieces of steamed rice rolls simply are not worth $6.88. I would even argue that these are the most expensive steamed rice rolls in the area for the same quality and portion size. I have no problem with a restaurant setting whatever prices it believes are appropriate. What I do have a problem with is the lack of honesty and transparency. If prices have changed, customers should be informed--especially when they specifically ask before ordering. To be quite candid, this might be one of the worst dim sum spots in the 626. The Shrimp Har Gow tasted rubbery and the dumpling skin was dry, rough, and stiff...It honestly tasted like it was frozen and not heated up right. The Minced Pork Dumpling came out cold... and wasn't crispy at all. The Sticky Rice Wrap was bland and lacked ingredients... probably one of the worst loh mai gai I've ever had! The Spare Ribs and Rice Roll was interesting...it was just ribs and rice rolls in cylinder form drenched in a soy sauce broth... The only decent item was the Shrimp Rice Roll/Cheurng Fun. I've been here twice and I also noticed there are so many flies in there. Everything just feels very unsanitary. Just so happen that me and my wife was in my nephew's place in el monte so we had a chance to try this out one evening. They used to be all you can eat but now it's $4.88/dimsum and others are priced separately. They had a promo that night $14 on some dishes. We ordered multiple dimsum including bean curd, siomai, chicken feet, pork chop, shrimp hargow, congee, yang chow fried rice , fried squid. Sorry to say this but we didn't like the taste of their food. They were bland and missing that umami taste that a traditional chinese restaurant make. Their yangchow fried rice is one perfect example. Eating their congee is like eating a paste that elementary pupil uses in school. Their shrimp hargow and beancurd are the same. Siomai was ok, average, the only positive spot we had that day was the fried squid and pork chop. Their egg custard pao wasn't as good. I came here on a weekend with my parents and the food was hot and service was decent. Compared to my last visit with a large group of friends, they didnt forget any of our orders. We came when the restaurant reopened for their dinner hours. Plenty of parking in their lot, lots of tables inside, and the servers were attentive. It is definitely more expensive on a weekend and there isn't any special difference between the two prices. Maybe give us a reason to pay that price, such as only a special item is offered on the weekend or your weekend meal comes with free drinks or something. Everything came out lukewarm, the only thing that came hot was the tea. We ordered about 12 different dim sum dishes and not one was good. We arrived at 9am and got a table in the back since we were 2nd group. I watched a youtuber explain Bistro 1968 restaurant, and it is no longer all you can eat dim sum, with specials of $4.88 each dim sum and $14.88 per dish. So I decided to take my family to a restaurant for lunch today. Many people are waiting because this is the last day to eat all you can eat dim sum. Fortunately, we were able to get seated after 20 minutes. We sat at the large table in the rear of the restaurant, and the server served us jasmine hot tea. We ordered many dim sums as well as six other dishes. When I asked one of the young server if the noodle dish was crispy or wet, he had no idea about their menu and just said to order it and you'd find out whether it was crispy or wet. What type of service is this...?! I asked another server to refill the hot water in the jasmine hot pot, which took him another 20 minutes. When all the meals arrived, I asked the same young server to bring three bowls of rice, which he said he would do but never did. After 25 minutes, I had to wave down another server to bring us 7 bowls, but he only gave us 5. Not only did he bring five bowls to the table and slam them down forcefully on it. My family and I were speechless. Some of the dim sum portions are so little that it's hardly worth the $4.88 per dish. Overall, the food is decent and not particularly horrible. However, the service is terrible, with absolutely no service at all. This is my first time eating here, and it will most surely be my last. All you can eat dim sum-wow! My coworker brought us to Bistro 1968, and I have to say, it's a fun experience. Dim sum has gotten pretty expensive and this place have reasonable price. Came here on a weekday around 10 AM it wasn't crowded at all. The food is good, though the all-you-can-eat menu has limited choices. I was hoping for congee, but they didn't have it. One thing to note: they charge for tea, and it's a little hard to get the servers' attention if you want water. I think they want you to get tea instead. My favorites were the siomai, noodles, and chicken feet. They also offer egg tarts and sesame balls for desserts. Overall, it's a solid spot if you're craving dim sum, but don't expect a huge variety. There's a lot of parking on the street and they have parking garage too. read more

The bistro is a grand and spacious restaurant with plenty of seating, each table capable of accepting 8 or more people. When I first went for Dim Sum, they offered an all you can eat option with a decent menu. Apparently, this was only a promo they had for a few months. Their dishes when I went last Sunday were $5 per plate. I feel like this is okay but I'm sure you can find cheaper spots that range based on the plate. Either way, the quality was there. FOOD The siu Mai isn't as delicious and it isn't stuffed with meat and shrimp as it was before. It just tastes bland and similar to frozen dim sum. Trying a new Dim Sum place. Came at 10:30am on a Saturday and there were still plenty of parking and lots of tables which means no wait. Overall, it was a typical Dim Sum experience with none of the food standing out. Large room, loud terrible acoustics, quickly moving waiters, par for the course. Let's start with the good! $4.88 for all dim sum dishes and free tea is a really good deal for around these parts. Fancy places have begun to charge $8-10 which is crazy to me. There is also a lot of variety and something you don't usually see - such as Boiled Lettuce, Popcorn Chicken, Chicken Wing, Stir Fried Mushrooms. Dim sum places can get really busy, so not having to wait for a table is great. The not so great? The food is pretty average and nothing stands out. The more delicious items were the house special crispy shrimp rolls and the pan fried turnip cake with XO sauce. Everything else was pretty average or below average considering the area. Chicken feet was cold, I suspect the pop chicken and wontons of not being made in the kitchen. I think you're getting what you pay for here, if you just need somewhere to go that's not busy and won't break the bank, try this place out. I'm willing to give it once more chance. If you're really looking for your tastebuds to be satisfied, probably look elsewhere. read more

So sad they're ending their ayce. dim sum was good and of the handful of times I have went only one server wasn't the most upbeat and nicest but all others have always been nice and helpful and when you wave them down they're quick with service. Food is good and they have great noodle dishes as well. Lots of seating inside but they fill up on the weekends. read more
