1 star for effort. I was getting a hair trim nearby and decided to stop by for a color change, as I had gotten a manicure at another place just four days ago. I chose to get gel French tips, and this was the result. The technician was nice, but after asking her to fix the nails three times, I eventually gave up, and this was the final outcome. I was charged $25 for the nail change, $10 for the gel, and a $1 processing fee. I tipped the technician in cash. read more

All the ladies here are so sweet. Cindy did my gel pedicure today and she did an amazing job. It's very calming in there as well they play calming music so you can just chill out. I (f24) just got my nails done to treat myself at Princess nails, the place my family has gone to for years and are quite happy with.... Usually. I asked for acrylic tips and they insisted on doing this new weird gel thing. The lady doing my nails said she would have to clip my real nails cuz they were a bit long and I agreed. But they cut off ALL of my real nails leaving no white and filed them down to nothing. She destroyed my entire nail by filing the top of my nail down to nothing WAY MORE than you should until it was hot and hurt. They didn't put two of the nails on right and had to pull them off and it was excruciatingly painful as they had just filed my nails down to nothing so they were basically peeling off my nail with the acrylic nail. the nails that they put on look clunky and horrible and they hurt really bad because I have no nail to hold the tip anymore. There's also free space between my real nail and the fake nail. I asked her if we should continue when she was pulling off the nails because I was really just wanting to leave at this point but she insisted on continuing and I'm to much of a pushover and can't be mean to someone's face (it's a problem I'm working on) so I couldn't say no stop and it was 55$ plus I was trying to be nice so I tipped like a dumb ass. I came home crying and want these off so bad I work really hard to keep my nails healthy and nice since I used to bite them. I'm really really sad and upset. Will never be going there again. The reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 was because of a nice worker there who chatted with me when I maybe looked a bit upset. (Not the lady doing my nails) Edit: the next day I spent all day trying to fix them so hopefully they look a bit better. I will be doing my own nails from now on. read more

Came here for the second time in many, many years. I initially wasn't too happy with the place but decided to give them another chance. I had to wait forever for a gel manicure. Then pay $46 for subpar nails that I was not happy with. They gave me a book of nail colors to choose from while I waited for, what felt like 45 minutes. There were two nail technicians around and free. Maybe they were waiting for a customer who would do a mani pedi so they'd rack in more tip? And because I was just doing a manicure, I wouldn't be paying as much? Anyway, I chose a peachy color and it turned out to be practically sheer. I didn't ask her to redo it because it would probably cost even more and I already waited forever and needed to leave. But here's when it gets worse...when they removed my previous gel nail color to paint they sanded my nails (which I am not used to) then seconds later DOUSE my whole hand in acetone. So my nails and hand were super dry and nail beds were completely weak. I even said that's a lot of acetone and she ignored me. Then after the subpar paint job of the color I chose, she literally drowned my hand in alcohol and rubbed my whole hand in cuticle oil. Gross. Never again. read more

I walked in and got attended right away, no waiting time. My manicurist, Ha, took very good care of me and did a very good job. She took her time with each nail, making sure all of my nails are equally shaped and in perfect condition for a gel polish to avoid early chipping. New ownership. Wanted to charge $8 rather than the usual $5 for callus treatment. Are they using something better? Did their cost go up? Did they do a better job than before? I highly doubt it. Just because you purchase a business (someone who already works there bought it) doesn't mean you put the burden on your loyal customers. Not good business practice. I just had a pedicure for the first time at Princess nails on Pacific Coast Highway and Knob Hill in Redondo and it was the worst pedicure I have ever gotten!!! The lady rushed me from the start when I wanted to soak my feet and there was no customers in there and then was sarcastic making me wait when I said I was ready and then she rushed through my pedicure she didn't even get all the cuticles and dry skin around my toes and looking at it now it doesn't even look like I got a pedicure and she said my toes where dry to rush me out and now one of my toes is already messed up and lastly when I asked her to use the machine to get some of the extra skin off one toe she said NO you have to pay $ 8.00 to have callus remover. I've been going to this nail salon for almost 7 years now and though I've seen some negative changes in the quality of their work and customer service it's so little that it didn't matter enough to make me want to find another salon. Even after I moved to Culver City. I think it's still the best deal in town, what used to be $24 and now $26 for a spa mani-pedi, a really great service with 2 staff tending to you at once. One person massaging your arms with warm paraffin lotion then wrapping your hands in soothing hot towels and the other massaging your legs and scrubbing the bottom of your feet. All that while your back and neck are getting kneaded by the massaging spa chairs. Blissful. The best part is when you walk in (with or without an appointment) and they know you already. They immediately greet you, ask you to pick your color, set you up on a spa chair with warm bubbling water to pamper your feet while you wait for the staff to start working on you. I gave this place 4 stars because I was disappointed with their waxing service that became mediocre after their original cosmetician, Kim, left. I miss Kim and wish I knew where she went. She's the best waxer I've had. Her Brazilian waxes are so painless and she's very gentle with your skin. read more

I really wanted to like this place; super close to our new digs at the beach...but after three separate occasions I've decided to seek another shop. Typically I go in for a quick color change, and the OPI selection here is quite limited. The first color I picked, the cap was seriously stuck on there, I wasn't sure I even wanted to try it. The technique the manicurists use is decent enough, however, whilst looking around on my first visit there was an employee literally asleep in a spa chair. I'd LOVE to find a job where i can nap at work in front of the customer. On my second trip, in the same spa chair, was employee who was having her underarm hairs PLUCKED OUT INDIVIDUALLY by another staff. There is a 'facials' room, go in there! Perhaps it's a cultural thing, but your shop is in REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA! It was gross. The third trip in really sealed the deal however. As I was getting my color change with OPI's Aphrodite's Pink Nightie (cute color) the woman in the spa chair next to me was getting a pedicure. They were using the callus remover in such a way that the debris from her feet, which had been soaking in the hot water solution, splattered all over the place including onto the technician who was working on her feet. She tried to lean back to avoid it, but I could see it was going EVERYWHERE!! Disgusting. I do not know if the Health Department visits these establishments, but this one would rank about a D rating if it were the same scale as a restaurant. The walls are filthy and I do not know the status of how clean their instruments are despite coming out of a sealed bag. Anyone can put in instruments and seal it up to appear sanitized. I should know better, it's rarely busy in there when I go. I figured it was just a slow time. Now I know better. There are a TON of nail places in the south bay. Drive a block or two and find a cleaner place. To the owner of this establishment; even though we do not speak Vietnamese, it's important to at least TRY to learn a little English and not talk non-stop in your native language when customers are in your shop. It's really just plain rude. Avoid at all costs. read more

My favorite nail salon in the South Bay!!!! They are friendly, take care in what they do, and most importantly--it's super clean. I am really paranoid about nail fungus, and they use a fresh package of UV-sterilized tools for each client. I also love the effort they put into each job. They don't rush or skip steps--there is nothing worse than wasting time and money on a mani pedi only to have it all chip and peel off in a couple days because the lotion or cuticle oil wasn't completely scrubbed off! . Every since they remodeled this place, it has gone downhill. My family used to go all the time. My teenage daughter went with two friends today and they were completely taken advantage of, overcharging by about 40%. While I would have recommended them two years ago, I can't now. RATING for NAILS ONLY!!! ....Waxing was a huge Thumbs Down. I know this is a gross topic...but if you're like me and get ingrown nails in your toesies, you need someone to take care of it in a gentle, but thorough way. It had been a while since I'd had a pedicure - and that's when the ingrown issue gets BAD - and the longer you go w/o a pedi, the worse it gets until you're too damn embarrassed to go in!! so you wait - and it eventually gets so bad you think "screw it - I'd rather be humiliated by a room full of women making fun of me in a foreign language than endure this pain any longer!!!" - - - my girl was aaaaaamazing. There's no way she could have known that I'm a ridiculously good tipper when I get excellent service - yet she worked and worked and worked til they were out : ) I hesitate to give 5 stars unless the ENTIRE experience was a 5. The waxing was awful (see below). My massage spa chair had little to no pressure. The water she put my feet in was cool, not warm. The foot & leg massage was just ok (she was probably exhausted from the toes....so, maybe i shouldn't judge) & the callous removal on my toes was overlooked (again...she was probably worn out from the rest of my terrible looking feet). I hate to say I did not get the name of the girl who worked on me (I was in a rush!) but she was young and pretty w/ longer hair...that should narrow it down for you. A QUICK NOTE ON WAXING: The lady was very nice - waxed the brows while I got the pedicure - did zero clean up on strays (which didn't even occur to me at the time...I was so focused on my feet) and honestly I could have done a better job with one of those sally hansen wax strips. I am totally surprised about the bad reviews- I have been going here for about six years. I have had acrylic nails, gels, manicures, pedicures and even a facial or three. Everyone is so nice there. The owner does not talk loudly, the girls may chat here and there but not excessively. The prices can get high if you add all the extras (massage, oils, lotions, etc.) but the quality of the work is good and my pedicures last three weeks, no problem. The salon is clean and a great place to go for services. They are creative with art requests for holiday toes and fingers too. Just ask! (a little BBQ on the big toe for the 4th?) I came here for the first time so I could have 4th of July ready nails. I got a mani and pedi, which is reasonably priced at $28. There is nothing "special" about the inside of the salon. It's decent and clean enough, but not great. I had two ladies working on my nails, and I was pretty unimpressed with the service. They spoke in Vietnamese the entire time to each other, which is pretty standard for a nail salon, but it did feel like they were talking badly about me at times. They weren't very friendly. The lady doing my manicure freaked me out because she would be clipping my cuticles and looking around talking to the other ladies. I wanted to scream, "Pay attention!" Thankfully, I didn't get cut! Ironically, my manicure from Princess Nails lasted over a week, which is really long for me. My pedicure is still going strong. I would consider going back here, but it's not at the top of my list. They probably should put a little more effort into living up to their name of "Princess" nails and focus a little more on customer service. read more

Came here a couple weeks ago with my sister, niece and cousin (he's a guy). My sister got a gel mani, pedi and her eyebrows waxed, my niece (5 years old) got a mani, and my cousin and I both got pedis. My sisters gel mani turned out super cute and they did a pretty good job on her toes and brows too. (although I'm not sure how sanitary their wax station is) My niece got the cutest little mani and she loved it!! My cousin and I enjoyed our pedis. I would definitely suggest bringing in your own colors if you want something special, they don't have a lot to chose from. Other than that, pretty good spot. read more
