Our bathtub and kitchen drains were slow to drain. I found Prodigy on Yelp and easily booked an appointment. Someone from their office even called to let me know when the plumber was on the way. She was super nice! Our plumber Jerry arrived on time and was friendly and professional. First he checked out the kitchen and gave me three options, explained the pros/cons for each one and patiently answered every question. Then he took a look the main drainage pipe connecting to the street and found the issue with the bathtub drains. Again he gave me three options. I appreciated him sharing what he saw on the video screens as he was diagnosing the problems. We ended up going with the cheapest/short term options because of our budget. Jerry was very understanding and still gave us excellent service. First he took care of the main pipe by clearing out all of the roots. There was a huge difference between the before/after videos. He also snapped some photos of the offset pipe connections so I could share them with the city. At some point, a second plumber named Jerry came out to help and he was also super chill. They cleared the kitchen pipes of all the gunk and even ran the hydro jet twice just to be sure. I would recommend Prodigy and will use them in the future. He fixed under the sink problem but camera showed a much bigger issue. David came back with Juan the next day and repaired behind the wall. I had Jerry come by to fix shower nob not turning, causing hot water to not come out. He gave me couple of options on how to fix it. What i liked was he never pushed an option, and even suggested going for a cheaper option first, to see if that's enough. Turned out that the fix was simpler than the initial plan, luckily. Garrett and Alexis came and worked on a warranty issue. My copper pipes were installed a few years ago by Prodigy and were a little loose. I recently had an issue with my toilet, toilet water valve, and some bubbling happening behind my toilet wall. I called Prodigy because they had installed my water heater few years ago and they did an amazing job. Prodigy sent their superstar plumber, Alexis Gomez, that not only fixed the issue but went above and beyond to explain the current situation, his professional recommendation, and shared his full knowledge on the right solution. Long story short, there was a leak that I wasn't aware of that was found, fixed and repairs are currently under way. Alexis had to come out several times to my house though throughout this whole process and I could not believe how patience, understanding and helpful he is. Super professional guy, who was dedicated to helping my parents, who are 2 senior citizens. It looks like Prodigy Plumbing is in high demand and could use some more employees, because Jerry had to cover for someone and drove from LA to the OC in traffic and was 2 hours late for our appointment time. Prodigy called me after they discovered my 1 star review. They admitted two errors: 1) nobody from dispatch told me there would be the $29 fee and Alberto must have assumed they would have communicated that; 2) they admitted Alberto is a two month old employee and should have given us a direct quote for the valve replacement (which was $1700) instead of only giving us the $7,700 quote for part of the more extensive work Alberto recommended. He said they would coach Alberto in the future. Because they called and admitted their errors and were willing to refund the $29, and because I had a decent experience in the past, I was going to update my review to 3 stars after I saw my refund go through. But then I saw the reply from the owner. The $19,000 of work was a shakedown, no question. Surface rust on galvanized piping that is new is not a leak or at risk of a leak. They recommended that 30' of piping be replaced with the valve. That was the $7,700 quote. Then they went to the side yard and found a valve with more surface rust. Then they looked at my pool heater and said, "That's old and needs replacing." But the pool repair guy who just did maintenance on it told me that heater is rock solid and will run forever unlike newer ones. Never had a problem with it. But "Oh, that needs replacing" to the tune of $19,000 all in for the work they recommended that is going to save my house from blowing up like a house in Long Beach. Jeez. The plumber who actually did the work was honest, showed up on time (unlike Prodigy), gave me a straight answer about materials and time it would take and had it done in less than a day for a fraction of even the $1700 quote they had for just the valve. Don't throw shade on a plumber you don't even know. They'll call you if you are honest about your bad experience on Yelp. They'll guilt you by telling you your review will ruin their business. Well then, be honest. Be consistent in your messaging from the phone to you public page. Don't exploit people by recommending work they don't need at a price that's absolutely the highest any company would charge. Then you'll be protected from getting lower ratings on your reviews. read more

I own property in East Long Beach and my tenant needed a garbage disposer repaired. They called Prodigy Plumbing Long Beach and on a positive note they responded and replaced a 1/2 horse power garbage disposer and the sink trap which took right at one hour to do the work. The bill charged was $700.00. As a 1/2 horse garbage disposer cost less than $150.00 at Lowe's and Prodigy was only their for one hour to do the work I called Prodigy Plumbing Long Beach and spoke to a man who said all he did was answer the phone and could not talk to me about the billing. He told me that the field supervisor would be contacted and that person would give me a call about the billing. Prodigy Plumbing Long Beach never returned my call. I will never use Prodigy Plumbing again anytime in the future as the charge on the above job was about $500.00 labor for one hour work. I do not know about you folks but I do not know anyone that is worth $500.00 per hour. I would suggest that you shop around on the phone and ask what the price of the repair is before having any company come out for service. read more

My first service requested from Prodigy Plumbing was to replace a leaky and corroded Moen bathroom faucet with a new Pfister nickel plated 4" faucet. Cesar, an experienced plumber and foreman for the company, came out to my house in Signal Hill on 5/20/24 and did an excellent job finishing it in a timely manner. Then he crawled under my house with his jump suit on and did a plumbing inspection. He found several leaking old 82 year old galvanized pipes and took some pictures and showed me. He recommended replacing my old water pipes. He had Donny the supervisor come out to my house who worked up an estimate for the job recommending the PEX water pipes along with some copper pipes and new shut off valves and fittings. The total estimate for all of the horizontal and vertical riser pipes, etc. was going to be $20,600. So I asked can you do it for less? I had used them before 4 years ago to replace all of my gas lines and sewer lines which cost $21,000. So he redid the estimate for $15,000 just doing the horizontal water pipes and shut off valves. So I gave him the ok for the job. The next day 5/21/24, Cesar came out to my house with two other plumbers, Carlos and Marcos and told them what needed to be done and they worked hard all day from 8:30am to about 5:45pm and got it done. The next day both the front bathroom faucet and kitchen faucet weren't working. They were clogged from the rust that broke loose from changing the old galvanized pipes. So on 5/23/24, Cesar came out again with Jose, known as the terminator, and he worked all day replacing all of the vertical riser pipes, valves and fittings. Total cost now $21,000. Two days later I went to the garage to use the hot water to wash the white clothes and found out that there was no hot water. Cesar came out to my house again after the Memorial Day weekend on 5/29/24, took apart the faucet and connections in the garage thinking maybe the lines were clogged with rust, but they weren't clogged and that didn't solve the problem. Then he went under the house and found the problem that a t-pipe and connection to the hot water line to the garage wasn't hooked up. So he took some pictures to send to the office and arranging for the plumbers to come out later this week to fix it. Not only that, he went to Dave's Burgers close by and brought me a chicken sandwich this afternoon. Cesar has gone the extra mile on this job and warrants my highest 5 star ratings to him and his company. I recommend him and this company for any future plumbing work. Sincerely, Steve A. read more
