Worst service I have EVER experienced. The hostess does not acknowledge you as you are waiting to be seated and asked to seat the people came in after me. Then it took around 45 minutes just to get our food. Not once did they come back to check up on us. They never refilled our drinks even though our drinks were empty. Mmmm that place is amazing! I have visited this restaurant twice now and each time I have been very impressed by the quality of their food. My only complaint is that if you go later in the evening, sometimes the beer selection is a bit limited due to the kegs being empty. I am a big fan of their mac & cheese, and I definitely recommend getting it. I also recommend their nachos. They are a large portion & can definitely be split amongst a few people. I have not gotten a meal that I did not like. Make sure to leave room for dessert, as they have a large selection, and the portions are gigantic. Definitely something you can split. Ok single visit review here so take that into account as the rating is expected to go up after a second experience. I stopped in to see what this place had to offer. Very comfortable inside, I felt welcome sitting at the bar by myself. The staff worked as a team helping each other out and paying attention to each patron. It was obvious they were very busy helping the after work crowd. The mixed drink was one of the specials for that night and was very delicious and should be for the price. I reviewed the menu and was not too hungry but I was told the Cubin balls were good but the Brussel sprouts looked too good to pass up. After trying them I should have passed them up. They were ok but that is it. I was not bowled over with a wonderful flavor just a little something that made them slightly more flavorful than just steamed Brussel sprouts. Tonight was my third visit to Prohibition in three years. They are consistent with poor service. There wasn't anyone at the bar. I start walking to sit at the bar and the bartender looks at me, doesn't say anything and walks toward the kitchen. She stood in the corner chit chatting with a guy that came out of the kitchen. I wait a few minutes, looked at them a few times and they didn't acknowledge me. I got up, looked at them and turned around and started walking out the back door when the hostess asked me if something was wrong. I explained the bartender saw me but didn't say anything , walked away and stood in the corner chit chatting. So I left. Third strike of poor service or cold food. Stopped in for lunch and champagne on New Years day, this place is a vibe! Love the aesthetic and atmosphere in the restaurant, it's a very warm and welcoming space and both the host and our server/bartender were incredibly personable and attentive. I ordered the 1/2 chicken with sweet potato fries and it was so good! The chicken had a smoky flavor and was delicious, and the texas toast was surprisingly good. We were told there was a 25 min wait and opted to sit outside if that helped as all the tables looked empty. They said they aren't doing outdoor dining and haven't for weeks! Something about the tables beings wet? How do you not get that fixed in weeks? We sat at the bar and asked to get a table when one opened up. I checked in with the guy up front and he said a table opened up. I let the bartender know and he basically assumed I just grabbed a table myself and didn't ask. Wasn't very kind. So this place has caught my eye for some time now! Prohibition? How much do they stick to the times?? Well I can tell you this much, the outside and the inside look great! The way it's decorated feels old-timey, the "main entrance" is in the back, and there is plenty of whiskey options to drink from (however I will say they were a bit too light and small portions, but I do appreciate the large cubed ice!) I had honestly no idea this is primarily a BBQ joint, (even tho it has been voted some of the best bbq in the area, just blissfully unaware I swear!) I will attest that it is very good! We started with the Cuban egg rolls which were SO GOOD! I mean honestly, hands down our favorite part of the meal, if you go, try them out! For my main course I went with the brisket sandwich, eventually I did have to take the buns off from just too much going on but the meat was very tender and so good! Four sauces readily available which I liked the chipotle one th best personally! I ordered the blackberry /basil old fashioned and like I said it was light on the bourbon (I do appreciate a strong pour) , it had a really nice flavor to it! As a side bar there is an area in the back that has sweets, so I had to try a cookie, sadly, it was a little stale but I'm sure they usually are very good fresh! Walked in here while in town because it was the only place open a bit later. Ended up loving it. Inside the place is so nice; very rustic so it literally fits the "prohibition" era vibe. I walked in an hour before closing so they only offer a late night menu, which is more limited but filled with great options! My waiter was super friendly and chill; he literally wasn't on us the whole time, but was still attentive. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my taste buds were just overjoyed! Sweet but also a citrusy flavor from the pickled onions on top, the waffle slices were a little more toasted than I expected, but it all complimented so well. I also had some of their fries that are deliciously seasoned with what gave me a hint of Rosemary, maybe ginger? Not sure, but overall great place. Stopped in for lunch with my friend. Very cute place. The server was very proficient and attentive in spite of it being very busy. My friend ordered salmon accompanied with roasted Brussel sprouts and broccolini. It looked wonderful, and she said it was delicious. I ordered a burger with ground beef/chorizo patty, ham, Swiss cheese, lettuce and tomato on a pretzel bun (served with fries). It too was very good. Half went home and my guy loved it too. I'm not sure where all the great reviews came from.This was our first and last visit to this restaurant.Some reviews said great ambiance??First let me say that almost the entire time we were there a large seminar for incontinence was going on 10 feet from our table.We were with another couple and could hardly talk to each other.I ordered the Quesadilla with a $4 up charge for shrimp.The shrimp wasn't fresh it tasted fishy,the fries were so salty that they were un eatable.I left most of my food less a few bites.Our server asked if I wanted to take the food home and I said no .I told him it was terrible.The best he could do was offer me a free cookie. I really wanted to love this place based on the description of the items and the presentation in past pictures I felt this was a solid choice for dinner. I come to you as a Meatloaf and Brussels Sprouts lover. I'm not a chef I'm a closet fatty. The meatloaf came on these potato slices that were raw and almost as crispy as chips, soggy ones. The Brussels are extremely basic, they took me back to childhood when I was forced to eat my vegetables and they had that strong vegetable flavor. Our service from Grace was 5 star! Great suggestions, checked in regularly, and was very pleasant! Just wanted to lead with that, and also mention that the food ranged from excellent to good. I got the Brisket Sandwich, which was tender and tasty brisket, topped with a nice zingy coleslaw. It was a sloppy mess after the first few bites, and well worth each one! The fries were fine, but I got the runts at the bottom of the bag, so they were easier to eat with a fork than fingers, but tasted good. My wife got the Salmon dinner. As another reviewer stated, the salmon is nicely cooked and OK, but uninspiring. The carrots that came with it were a bit firm (i.e. barely could cut them), but that's better than too mushy! The Brussels Sprouts were very tasty. Very casual atmosphere and the bar area looked like it could be fun and had doors that could be opened to be an inside/outside space in good weather. I was lured into this place by a sign near the mall. I should have stayed away. This place looks like it could have been cool with a neat speakeasy atmosphere. And it does look okay inside. The decor has lots of exposed wood and many booths that would look nice in a truck stop diner. The food is where it fails. I got the pork BBQ platter and received 4 sauces. All of them were ridiculously sweet and tasted like they were fresh out of clearance bin at Publix. The Carolina sauce was especially offensive tasting like a bad honey mustard. The park without the sauce was fatty and dry. How do they achieve that combination. The service was quick and excellent. I feel bad for them. This is the second time I've been here, and probably the last. I'm simply not a fan. The first time we came here I ordered the salmon risotto. The flavor profile is just spicy. I thought I could deal with it but I couldn't. My husband had the bbq chicken with Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. This last time I had the mediteranean shrimp salad. The dressing is lemon tahini and again it has a kick and the flavor is not my liking. I ate the shrimp and the fried artichokes and dipped it in bbq sauce. I tried the poppy seed dressing which is a brown base not white and it's not good either. We also ordered Cuban egg rolls and the Swiss mustard dip is overpowering. The desserts look best out of anything. I just had a double chocolate sprinkle cookie. In regards to our service, our server was very absent and even when we needed to pay the bill and leave to get somewhere before a certain time. He seemed to cater most to the bigger table but the three small tables were clearly forgotten. The menu here seems like a decent selection but when looking at it closer, it's easy to say I won't be back. Review is based on food solely. I honestly did not understand the hype. We went here for lunch one day, I got the Cobb salad and my husband got a chicken sandwich with a salad. The food was okay, nothing to write home about. The salad I got was huge, fresh ingredients but something about the pork belly and the amount of sugar it's drenched in made me feel sick. My husband got the chicken sandwich which was okay, personally chickfila is better. Today was my first time visiting Prohibition and it won't be my last! Cute restaurant located about 8 minutes from downtown Dunedin. The restaurant decor and music added to the speakeasy ambiance and had a warm, homey feel. We went around noon on Sunday and waited around 40 minutes for our appetizer and another 20 for our entrées. Our server was friendly and did a great job, it was just slow from kitchen to table. I ordered the pork belly BLT which was phenomenal. The tomato bacon jam really complimented the flavors of the pork belly along with the mixture of sweet and salty. We also ordered the PK dip with pita chips that I wasn't impressed with. I feel like the dip was lacking flavor and tasted very one dimensional. In the front of the restaurant, there is a bakery with two display cases full of goodies. Just an overall good experience. Brett N. was moving to Houston and I couldn't make his going away party because it was the first day of potty training my toddler (IYKYK). Instead I told him I'd meet him for a meal. Who knew he'd choose one that was 25 minutes away from my house. When I asked him if he had any other restaurants on his bucket list to try before he left he said no, just this one. Fine, I'll go here with you. In the end, I commend his choice. Brett gave this place four stars, but I'm going with five stars. Mainly because I rank atmosphere and experience above everything else. Yes, the food and drinks still have to be good, but if the food is good (not great), but the service and drinks are through the roof, five stars all around. FOOD: We shared all the dishes and didn't actually try any of the BBQ. This is because we didn't turn over the menu to see that there was more. I don't regret this, because I've had good BBQ elsewhere and would rather try their unique dishes. PB&J Wings: This was actually my least favorite dish we got. It mainly tastes like thai peanut sauce flavored wings. I'm not saying it isn't good, it is good, it just wasn't great. I would have appreciated more of a jelly taste, whereas it was overwhelmingly peanut butter. Chicken and Waffles: We got the spicy glaze on the side, so maybe that's why it was lacking some flavor. However, the waffle was perfectly made. How was it so crisp? I would eat a million of the waffles and I usually avoid carbs. Another dish that I thought was good, but would probably pass. Lobster corn fritters: Both my and Brett's favorite dish. The flavors were just superb. If you like lobster and you like corn fritters, try it. Burnt Ends mac and cheese: My second favorite dish. I found the brisket to be very tender and the noodles weren't overcooked. I'd get it again. DRINKS: The drinks are where this place shines. I wanted to try all the cocktails. I went with the Peaches and Cream which was amazing. I could drink five of them. I actually had the hardest time deciding what to drink there were so many good options. 10/10 would recommend going here for drinks. SERVICE: Zach was AMAZING. Request him to be your server. He has such an incredibly deep knowledge of the menu and he isn't afraid to give strong recommendations. If I lived closer, I would learn his schedule and only come when he's working. This place's atmosphere is just cool. It was pretty busy on a Monday night and when it's not raining there's a good sized outdoor patio. They have a parking lot so parking is easy. Why 4 stars? Because this is the kind of place I'd want to try virtually every item on the menu. --- --- --- I remember driving by this place when it was still under construction and not quite open yet. It looked pretty sweet from the outside, so I figured I would have to check back to see how the reviews were looking once it opened. Fast forward 6+ months and I happen to see Prohibition Kitchen and Tap with amazing reviews, so I bookmark it. But at the time, I did not put 2+2 together that this was the same place I'd driven by, several months earlier. Either way, I'm glad it all worked out! I opened the menu and I'm not exaggerating when I say I feel like after about four seconds, I was convinced I was going to love this place. The whole menu is full of what I'd request for my last meal on death row. And while fortunately I am not incarcerated, it is my last meal, in a sense. After nearly 15 years of living in Tampa Bay, our family is about to move out of state. And whenever you're moving, you have an endless to-do list. But for me, one of the important items on that to-do list was to visit all of the places I'd always wanted to eat at but never had the chance to. I have so many Yelp bookmarks that I actually just keep a note in my Notes app that has all of the places I *really* want to eat at. I've been keeping this list for nearly a decade and Prohibition Kitchen and Tap was literally the very last one on my list. Five days before our move, I came here with former Tampa Bay CM, Christina G to enjoy one final meal together. First, I'd like to give a shoutout to our server, Zach, who was about as personable and charismatic of a server as I can ever remember. He really was great and I hope his manager appreciates him! As for the food: PB&J Wings: I ordered these because they were unique, but to be honest, I think these were my least favorite of what we ordered. They were a tad spicy, but nothing to worry about unless you are aggressively against even a small amount of spice. They just didn't have must of a peanut butter flavor, per say. I wouldn't have known they were peanut butter if I was doing a blind taste test and I wasn't in love with whatever the flavor was. 3-stars. Lobster Street Corn Fritters: These were our favorite item of the night. I took one home to my wife and she said it was amazing even after being reheated the next day. 5-stars. Open Face Chicken & Waffle Sliders: These were decent, but I would not need to order again. The sauce was spicy - I would have preferred a traditional syrup. 3.5 stars. Burnt Ends Mac & Cheese: Arguably the creamiest mac-n-cheese I've ever had. And I love burnt ends. I would definitely recommend this one. 4.5 stars. So that's it. If we were moving away, I would definitely come back and would have plenty more to try. But by my unofficial count, I have written 1,195 reviews of Tampa Bay businesses and this will be my last of a restaurant. Prohibition Dunedin was high on my list of restaurants to visit during a trip to Clearwater, FL, and it did not disappoint! The interior has a vintage, prohibition feel. The staff was incredible - attentive, friendly and went the extra mile. The food was PERFECT! Fresh ingredients, full of rich flavor, prepared and cooked to perfection. Our wait time wasn't long, and our overall experience was great! I love that this is finally open! If you're a Dunedin local, you know that there was a place called "Whiskey Cartel" trying to open, but it just sat there closed for at least 2 years. Looks like someone else picked it up, and now it's Prohibition Kitchen. Woohoo! I've been here twice, and I enjoyed what I ordered the second time around better. The first time I got the Burnt Ends tacos, and the sauce on them was too sweet for me. The second time I ordered the half smoked chicken and it was delicious, especially the crispness on the outside. The Brussels sprouts were also yummy and same with the broccolini. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is mainly the experience. Some tables on the patio are pretty much parallel to the garbage (they try to hide it with a wooden wall, but it doesn't work super well). That means there are flies everywhere and really takes away from the ambiance. They gave us some essential oil cups to put around the table, but I don't think it really helped. Just try not to eat on the patio. The inside is very loud, so if they could work on the acoustics and move around the outdoor tables then that would be better. Also the restaurant doesn't seem like it quite knows its identity yet. The menu is a fusion of cajun, smokehouse, and asian. I think it'd be good if they leaned into the smokehouse option, and had more choices for platters such as pulled pork. And maybe some more craft cocktail options, to fit with the prohibition theme. Passed by this place and it looked interesting, so decided to try it for an early (4:00 Pm) dinner. We were seated right away, in a huge open area. Most of the place was very open, this turned out to be an issue. Several families with small children were seated in the same area. The noise made it a bit difficult to talk. Our waitress Grace was excellent. She took our drink orders and we went over the menu. The specialty here appears to be BBQ, with a variety of different dishes also. We split an appetizer of Cuban Egg Rolls. They were hot and crispy and really brought the flavor of a Cuban sandwich. A pretty heavy egg roll though. I had made up my mind on the chopped pork sandwich with coleslaw, specifically because they listed a Carolina BBQ sauce. I was hoping it was Eastern North Carolina vinegar based and not South Carolina mustard based. But I changed my mind when told the Specials of the Day included a Shepherd's Pie. Chose that instead. My wife decided on the Smoked Reuben. After a bit, and a tea refill, our plates came. Shepherd's Pie looked great. Ground meat, potatoes and cheese were good. Only thing is I really missed the peas & carrots. Just not quite the same without. My wife's Smoked Reuben was fantastic. Great flavor and so much meat I thought we had stepped into a Jewish deli!! I have to admit I convinced her we should share our meals. Yum! Her Reuben was sooo much better than my Pie. I don't think she was as happy with mine. Next time I will try the BBQ. Then we passed by the Dessert Counter. Of course she needed a reward for sharing. And my wife just finished 8th of 10 radiation treatments this week, so she took a dozen cookies for the nursing staff the next day. They all loved them and wanted to know where she got them! Food is goooood. Ribs are amazing. Service is poor. Sat at the bar both times I went and the same two bigger girl bartenders were horrible. Neither of them greeted us, both said the other one was gonna take our order. We waited and eventually had to flag them down to get a water and place an order. So unfortunate. Just OK. Weird layout inside. They don't like to sit 2 people at a table. They had open tables & turned away 2 couples; however, we were a 4-top & seated immediately. Service was very slow & the burger was eh. Fries were good & the cupcake was a little dry. They were out of several bourbons. Would not go back. read more
