I had a hard time rating this place because I can't be totally fair with my rating. We went on a Friday of Lent meaning we couldn't have meat. Also, I gave up cheese for lent and my fiance gave up sweets, so that narrowed down what we were able to order by a lot. There were 2 options that did not have meat, and one option that was neither meat or had cheese in it...So, we both ordered things we would never have ordered had we been able to order anything off the menu. (We were told there were no substitutions with such a small menu, so I couldn't get something and ask for them to take off the cheese.) I got the crab cakes, the tilapia, and the carmel gelato. All of these were good, but not great. The crab cakes were a little over-cooked, and the tilapia didn't have a lot of flavor. But, like I said, I never would have ordered the tilapia given the other options so it's not totally fair of me to be too critical. So, I gave this place a 4. Good service, a really nice atmosphere, and an overall good experience. read more

Prosecco. Fine Italian dining downtown, with a swanky atmosphere? So, I check out Prosecco. Table's not quite ready but we wait a few minutes (10?) at the bar. I asked for a sweet but nice bubbly, and bartender pours me a (generous) glass of a rose. Perfect appertif. Once seated, the menu and specials make ordering so difficult. Too many good options! And, I'm distracted by the complimentary prosecco. Bonus. Eventually the food arrives, and the caprese was amazing. The chef's mother grew the heirloom tomatoes, and I can't remember the last time I've had such fresh produce served to me *not* on a farm. Ok, so I don't frequent farms often either... We ordered a pasta dish with truffle cream and truffle oil. Um, I'm pretty sure that's illegal in some places, but it was a heavenly aroma, which melted in your mouth, with just right al dente pasta. For an entree, we split the pistachio crusted jumbo prawns, totally different texture, with slightly sweet roasted brussel spouts. Delish. But what really blew me away? We ordered the cheese plate for dessert, and it comes with this amazing truffle-infused honey. It was sweet, savory, and I swear, an aphrodisiac. It was pure sex on the palate. From the atmosphere to dinner, Prosecco was great! At the beginning of the meal, our server greeted us and gave everyone a taste of prosecco to make a toast with. We actually ended up buying a bottle of the prosecco given which was the Prosecco di Veneto Doc. A good neutral prosecco that was neither too sweet or too dry. The pictures are of my meal which was the burrata e prosciutto con pomodori secchi as an appetizer and the salmone con lenticchie e spinaci as a main entree. The burrata e prosciutto con pomodori secchi was absolutely delicious. The mozzarella was VERY creamy and thick. Paired with the acidity from the balsamic reduction and cured tomatoes and the saltiness from the prosciutto, the dish was very balanced and I will dream about it until I come back to Chicago for more. The salmone con lenticchie e spinaci was cooked perfect to medium as I requested. Very buttery and scrumptious. The lentils were a nice texture compliment to the buttery fish. Not overly seasoned. My only critique is the lack of baby spinach in the dish. I was expecting a normal vegetable side portion and it ended up being around 4 pieces of cooked spinach. I also had the house-made gelato (not pictured)which tasted like a bowl of cinnamon toast crunch cereal with whole milk. The items that my friends had: -Affettati Misti: typical meat and cheese platter except the quality of the cheese was phenomenal. -Gnocchi al Gorgonzola: If you love gnocchi, get this for sure. The gnocchi was perfectly cooked, with a beautiful harmony of buttery, cheesy goodness and toasted walnuts that give you the crunch component that your mouth will be looking for. -Zuppa Di Pesce: probably my least favorite thing out of everything we ordered. Seafood was slightly overcooked and higher salt level. -Melanzane Griglia e Forno: I personally did not try this dish, but my friend who did ate it all VERY quickly. Safe to say she loved it. - Tiramisu: **note: we ordered torta di cioccolato but were given the tiramisu. After failed attempts to get our server, we just ate the tiramisu. In the end it worked out because we loved it. Far better than the gelato I ordered. Service: Service wasn't terrible but it wasn't the greatest service I had. The individual who was refilling waters was more attentive than our actual server. I rarely ever tip under 20% but we did tip our server less for these reasons. -If you order a bottle, they keep it at the bar for you instead of your table which is fine. But the lack of checking in on our table left glasses empty for a while and some glasses being filled while ignoring other's low level glasses. -The server's attitude wasn't the nicest. As if being in a group of younger adults made it seem like we couldn't afford to eat there. -Lastly, she couldn't split the check. She said the system didn't allow splitting individual items as in 1/2 to one and 1/2 another which is absolutely fine. We didn't need to split items, just the dinner menu. Instead of understanding us, she gave us the check with a pen to calculate amounts ourselves. I wouldn't have really cared if she was more understanding about it instead of coming off as being extremely rude. That aside, the food was very good and worth a try! read more

We had such a wonderful dining experience here! Straight outta the gate I have to confess....the people that come to Prosecco look nothing like Chicagoans! I really felt that we were in Naples, FL or something as everyone is a bit older, a bit tanner, a bit more....Boca Raton. And this restaurant is in River North, one block from Hooters, so it was just a little odd. But anyhoo.... Our server's name was Fred, and he was as Old-School as you get. If you want an attentive waiter that knows everything about fish, wine, pasta, etc, ask for Fred! The food is outstanding. Everything just tastes so....fresh. I got the Wild Salmon and Fred had said it was caught in the morning and Fed Ex'ed to the restaurant in the afternoon, and I was eating it that night. So the food is delicious, and the menu has a variety of fish, pasta, meat, and other seafood. Try Prosecco...you simply won't be disappointed. And for those of you that love dining alfresco....try dining inside, just this once, b/c the restaurant is so beautiful and Venetian-like. All around wonderful experience. read more

There are so many great Italian restaurants in Chicago, but Prosecco is missing the boat on "cool". It's an old-school fancy Italian-American restaurant with Real Housewives decorations (think heavy drapes, columns) and Rosebud portion sizes. Service can only be described as strange with the server popping in at all the wrong times and then disappearing for first hour of service once we had drinks... maybe they pride themselves on slow Italian meals, so I can forgive this one. Menu is extensive which is a pet peeve. We skipped the avg. looking break basket. Salad was raw in a bad way with very little taste. Pastas were good (the homemade gnocci was best) if not downright heavy with cream and oil, but not worth the $20-30 price points. I'd rather have a 4-6 oz. portion for less money, like the trendy Italian restaurants are rocking these days (see Cicchetti, Azzura EnoTavola). Overall, I spent $80 on two glasses of wine, half a salad and a vegetarian pasta. I won't return. I guess Prosseco is just not my style. Too expensive, too heavy, and too stuffy. read more

Okay...I went here for a private event, so it was different than a "dining experience." My low marks here are pretty much all because of the space. I thought I was going to bump into the male "model" Fabio, lying on a red velvet chaise lounge, eating grapes. Creepy. It was like cupid, and Italian Valentine's Day threw up in here! It looked like an over-decorated, overly ornamentalized (is that a word?) Italian home. I actually think that's what it's meant to look like though? And apprently, most people who review this place on here love the concept! Go on with your bad selves! For me, not so much. Anyway...the space was overdone, but the lighting in there was great, and very romantic. Perfectly dim. It is a good place for some great sparkling wine or champagne also, hence the name. Great list! Oooh, kissy kissy. I tried many passed appetizers, which were all tasty. I especially enjoyed the mini shortbread-crust cheesecake bites that we had with berries on top, at the end. The menu appears to be a bit more inventive than basic, but not too shocking. Based on others' reviews, I'd like to go back and try more of the food. I'm not going to go into too much detail about the food (it's fresh and delicious, visually well executed, perfectly cooked, and the flavors are simple, rustic, and wholesome, speaking for themselves; they separate and compliment one another wonderfully on the palate), or the wine (not a sip unloved, likely because we were so well advised). I'm a little old school. I think going out to eat is about the experience, and that good food ought to be a given, whether you're crashing a glossy-walled dive or a suit-and-tie affair. Prosecco seems to agree with me, because all the emphasis is on taking good care of you; the rest is made to seem effortless. From the valet, to the coat check person, to the hosts, and the servers and their assistants, you're treated with a casual, enthusiastic warmth that I've had to pay much more for (not that Prosecco is cheap. It's not, but it's worth budgeting for), also typically enduring a good deal more pretense, which I'm not a fan of. Christian, the Wine Director, is an affable guy with great taste. He attended us personally when I took my parents out for my dad's birthday. I originally wondered if he was so good because my folks are so snazzy (Christ, Mom, what is with the mink?), but seeing his treatment of other patrons, and reading the personal praise he's received in the other reviews here tells me otherwise. He has an intimate understanding of the food and drink on the menu and is a good listener, giving each of us a quick interview to help expose us to some things we hadn't tried yet, guiding us blind into some fantastic flavors. He does not disappoint, and is a throwback to the formerly more ubiquitous profession of table service at the same time that he's a little Johnny Depp, and a little Crispin Glover. Real asset to the joint. It also helps that Prosecco's a pretty good looking joint. Classic. The light is intimate, the acoustics (both of the space and the management of the sound) are comfortable, and the decor is elegant, yet unpretentious. My senior resident lost a bet with me, her attending physician! I picked the place! There were eight of us(I had reserved for 6!). Several had never been there before. Some were not fans of Italian food. The experience for all was wonderful! They moved us to a bigger table that made it a private party. Every one enjoyed their food choices and the Leffe beer was outstanding. The "ahs and umms" over dessert said it all. I introduced friends to wonderful food, good drinks and excellent service! What can I say about Prosecco? Fantastic. Romantic. Beyond what I expected. From the valet to the front desk to the wait staff, our Valentine's Day dinner at Prosecco was amazing. I chose Prosecco based on the comments here on Yelp, figured it was a safe bet for V-day. We arrived a bit early, so we made our way to the bar for a dirnk. My love ordered a drink made just for V-day: stoli raspberry, godiva white chocolate...cool and creamy. It was great. Especially since they had just whipped it up that day. Dinner was great, on-time. We were even able to enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne before we ordered. Her steak was on the money and my prosciutto-wrapped mahi mahi was perfect. We finished off with a chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. All-in-all, I couldn't have wished for a better 1st V-day dinner with my girl. I love, love, love the food at Prosecco....wonderful Northern Italian comfort food...their fish entrees are out of this world too. The chef is amazing, and very friendly, comes to your table to see how you enjoyed everything and actually remembers your name when you return! It's a "family" owned restaurant and everyone from the host/hostess, owners, chefs, to the wait staff and bussers are the friendliest bunch!! Wow! This place really knows how to spoil its customers! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by every staff member we encountered. Our coats were checked in, we were escorted to our table, and served a complimentary glass of prosecco. It was as though a surprise party was being thrown in our honor. Armando our server was charming and kind. He seemed to genuinely be concerned that we enjoy every aspect of our meal and moment in this beautiful restaurant (and it is gorgeous!) We ordered salad, risotto (daily special) and Osso bucco. The risotto was excellent, so excellent that we were unable to eat the Osso bucco--took it to go (and it made a wonderful breakfast!). Understanding of our plight of overeating that day (we were on the pizza tour earlier) Armando served us a shot of a wonderful, tummy aid called Limoncello, freshly made. Amazing! We were suddenly refreshed enough to order dessert! So it was homemade gelato/sorbets for the both of us, raspberry and blood orange. The perfect end to a wonderful meal and experience. I have to admit that I was very excited to try out Prosecco after reading all of the good reviews here. Unfortunately, my experience did not match up with others'. We decided to give it a try during Restaurant Week, but after we saw the three-course menu, we were feeling a bit let down. It seems that they wanted to serve us the least expensive items on the menu, and after doing some math, it added up to right around $33, therefore, not as good of a deal for a special promotion as we had hoped. The three of us decided to order off of the menu, simply because it presented us with better sounding options. For a starter, I ordered the beet salad with honey tangerines and a pinot nero vinaigrette. The beets were so thinly sliced that I couldn't detect any of their usual beet yumminess. I also couldn't detect any flavoring from the vinaigrette, and it all seemed very dry. The only flavor that came out of it was from the tangerines, which made me feel like I was just eating a dry, and bland pile of greens. I ordered the grilled salmon with braised lentils for my entree. Everything was fine here and the salmon was cooked to my request. The only problem is that it was all so flavorless! The salmon didn't seem to have much seasoning at all, so the only flavor that came through was "grill". The lentils were fine, but tasted mainly of salt. It was supposed to be drizzled with lemon scented olive oil, but I didn't detect any of it. What a let down. For dessert, I had the profiteroles with pistachio gelato and chocolate ganache. These were the best thing that I had to eat here. The gelato was pretty decent and the profiteroles were cute and had good light texture. I still wasn't overly impressed, but it was passable for good. Overall, the quality of ingredients was fine, but I would have liked to have a more flavorful experience, especially considering the prices. read more

Came here around 9pm Saturday for a friend's bachelorette party dinner as a group of 10 ladies. We were seated promptly and the place was quite nice and elegant. It was only a quarter occupied when we went. It took awhile before we all had our complimentary glass of Prosecco, which worried me as this was one of the main reasons I suggested the place. We did receive it and made a nice toast to the bride to be. They were well staffed in numbers, as we saw many staff people walk around, but I guess quality is so-so. We all read the menus to death and our waiter comes over and lets us know that we must order as their kitchen will be closing soon. Well, we let him know that we've been ready, but was never asked in this rather long period of time. Some of the girls ordered drinks first and were still waiting on them, while some others got theirs, so it was all inconsistent. I was just put off that they made it seem like we were just taking our time when they were the ones not executing proper service. Our waiter was nice enough, just clearly not outstanding. All of our food did come out an appropriate time. I get the special risotto that had prosciutto in it. It was yummy and was pleased to see decent satisfying portions for a more upscale place. Friend's lamb chops were good as well. While food was all quite good, it did not knock my socks off. Waters were never refilled and I had to ask about it towards the end. We were able to pay with multiple cards and they executed that well so that was relieving...this should be the case for any place, but it's sad that I almost want to give them a plus because of it. Overall, place was good, but was expecting more from this high-end Italian place. There are definitely better experiences to be had. The complimentary Prosecco is a nice touch though. read more

LOVE IT!!! This place is simply wonderful! We were really lucky and our waitress was also the sommelier! She was very friendly and knowledgeable and even brought out two different wines to taste from when my friend couldn't choose which white wine to get. We ended up getting this great aged white wine that had an amazing golden color and crisp taste. I also had a moscato which was hands down the best moscato I've ever had!! It was amazing and had many layers of flavor! Right when you get seated, they give you a small glass of prosecco, sparkling white Italian wine which was really clean and fresh. We started out with one of the specials- oysters with truffle oil and arugula I think. I had the orecchiette tartufate which is one of the more popular dishes at prosecco- it is ear shaped pasta with black truffle cream and white truffle oil (I love all things truffle!) with mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes and asparagus. I really recommend it! Very flavorful, slightly oily but i used the bread to sop it up, and it was delicious! My friend had a special pasta dish that had cooked salmon and smoked salmon in a tomato cream sauce- also excellent. We finished up the night with some profiteroles which were great! Overall I just really loved my experience here: the staff is wonderful and the ambiance is relaxed and romantic. Simply a foodie mecca. :) read more

So they have a wonderful patio to sit and eat at. I didnt get to dine here BUT got the leftovers from the meal. My fiance went here for dinner and absolutely fell in love with it. He said the service was great! Also, he loved the outdoor area. The food I can attest for. It was some of the best Italian food I have had. Usually I am just like, this is good for an Italian place as they are not my favorite. Not here, the food was seriously fantastic. I had the gnocchi with the Gorgonzola. It was the best gnocchi I have ever had. It was firm and tastey. The cheese sauce was fantastic. Everything just went together so well. Next up was the orecchiette with the italian sausage. Oh goodness, again, FANTASTIC! Man, if you are looking for a great italian spot, check this place out. I guess they had the mussels and clams also. Recently, my girlfriend and I went to Prosecco to celebrate our four year anniversary. And it was delicious! The evening started off on a rocky note when we were told to go to the bar while we waited for our table to open up. This isn't a problem, except for the fact that the bartender snapped at us when we asked to see the cocktail menu. I was seriously hoping that her attitude was not a theme amongst the employees. And it wasn't! The rest of the night was near perfect. We were greeted at our table with a glass of Prosecco (nice touch)! The waiter was attentive, but not to the point that it gets annoying. The tables were close, but not to the point where you could hear every word that your neighbor was saying. And the food was phenomenal. My girlfriend got the gorgonzola gnocchi. I am not a huge fan of gorgonzola, but this was a very mild sauce. And the gnocchi itself melts in your mouth. I ordered one of their specials, which was a risotto dish. It was fantastic! The lighting in the restaurant was much more romantic that I had imagined. All of the pictures that I had seen prior to actually going to the restaurant were very well lit. Prosecco is my favorite restaurant in the Loop. Generally I'm more of a neighborhoody type of person, and I prefer smaller boutique restaurants to the bland, boring, big box restaurants downtown. Prosecco, however, is an amazing, consistent upscale fine dining experience. We have been going to Prosecco for years, and our visit last night re-kindled all the great experiences we have had. For the starters, you MUST get the duck carpccio. It has a slightly tart cherry sauce that is in no way overpowering to the rare-seared thin duck breast. Another standout starter is the snails. They aren't escargot style; instead, they are without shells and simmered in a brandy and cream reduction. Yum! My favorite main course (and it's great to see other people have mentioned it!) is the Orecchiette Tartufate. Basically, it's a very rich truffle pasta. Get it. Overall, Prosecco is meant to be a long, drawn out, rich and hearty Italian meal. It's also not cheap, but it is by no means more expensive than other large and fancy downtown restaurants. I have dreams of the gnocchi ai gorgonzolla. I'm not kidding. It has to be one of THE best pasta dishes I've ever had. The one downside to dinner was our group. There were four of us and the two guys had a big lunch so they weren't as hungry and ordered very little. It would've been nice to order a few apps and entrees and share them as our server reccomended doing that. My friend and I did end up sharing the gnocchi and the burrata e prosciutto con pomodori secchi which was also to die for! I will say our server was around a lot and sometimes it was a little too much but he was such a sweet guy. He even topped off my glass of free prosecco! Listening to him was a riot, he backs Prosecco's food 110%. He was able to explain every dish we questioned him about and made some really good suggestions. I was a little bummed that I didn't see a menu with all the champange drinks like I saw online but when we asked our server he said he could make us something and what he came back with was really good. He even came back a little later and topped off our glasses with champagne again! I'm so glad I listened to what you wonderful yelpers had to say and went to this restaurant! One is that they were not done setting up so it took me forever to decide what I wanted because I was distracted by people curling ribbons and standing on chairs putting up the decorations. This place has the potential to be great, but it missed the mark by a long shot the night we were there. We were wedged between two larger tables on either side of us. We could have easily joined either party, and they probably wouldn't have noticed. There wasn't any room for intimacy. When we got the menus, there were no specials or recommendations--we were just handed the menus and the server scurried away. When our luke-warm mussels arrived, they came with no seafood fork. And the server was MIA again, so we were forced to eat cold mussels that had been hacked out of their shells by over-sized dinner forks. After the dismal appetizer course, we waited 30 minutes without so much as a peep from our dodgy server. It was a strange lull in our dinner service that was never given an explanation. When our food finally arrived, my steak was horribly overcooked, and my husband's mussels were a motley crue of different sizes and shapes, including one very sickly runtlike mussel. There were only four on the plate, so they should have been better cut and at least closer in shape and size. When the server finally showed up, we voiced our disappointment and he ran away again to fetch the manager. The manager was very apologetic and actually comped our dinner. It was a very disappointing experience, but it may not be the case for everyone. Like I said, the place has potential if it can get it together. Try at your own risk. read more

Upon arrival, I thought this place looked a little stuffy and traditional. So I was surprised to find that the bar was kind of hoppin on a Friday night. We were there for dinner and sat next to the bar, but surprisingly it wasn't annoying. On to the meal...any place that gives you a free sample of Prosecco when you sit down immediately wins points. Our waiter was really knowledgable (especially about the wine list). Our meal was delicious. The Buratta appetizer is amazing. I loved my seafood stew (not the technical name, but you'll know it). There were all kinds of deliciousness in there. The others at my table also seemed pleased with there meals. My boyfriend even endorsed the Tiramasu as one of the best he's had. Mozzarella Burrata (means buttered) - OMG, best I have ever tasted, creamy, soft and served with a little parma ham, perfect. Fresh butternut squash soup with crispy panchetta - Wonderful on this snowy night. Wild board ragu - plenty of delicious meat, perfect if a little too delicate (for me) Scallops - Four very large perfectly cooked circles atop a light butter sauce and spinach Truffled pasta - I forget the exact name, but it was vegetarian, it was awesome however and full of truffles and truffle oil, the person who ordered it was glad they only ordered a app. size portion. So here's the thing. I know it is Restaurant Week (RW) and I want to take advantage of the food deals. I really hate it when I have to announce this and then get service that is obviously less than par. Personally, Restaurant Week gives us an excuse to splurge on a nice bottle of wine or a few extra drinks, so our total bill is roughly the same....why the condescension? When we got to Prosecco we were given 2 different menus, neither of them listing the RW prix fixe, even though we over heard the couple in front of us being offered it upon arrival. The waiter was not very happy when we asked for the RW menu and we didn't see him for about 10 minutes after. Things did not proceed well when we asked for the only Gewurztraminer on the wine list since they didn't have it. When I asked for a suggestion on a replacement he said there was nothing really comparable, but suggested a particular sauvignon blanc having a sweet apple flavor with a sour aftertaste - interesting but not exactly something I would have suggested to a fan of Gewurztraminer. Our meal was decent, but I was glad we were not paying full price. I started with the crab cakes and my wife had the caprese salad. The crab cakes were tiny fried circle lacking a crisp crust. The caprese salad was good, but I could not imaging paying full price for little more than sliced mozzarella and tomato. For mains my wife ordered the truffle farfalle while I tried the rigatoni. The farfalle was excellent, but it was obvious that my rigatoni had been sitting under a heating lamp for far too long from the dried crust that had formed around the edges. I was once again forced to wonder how hard it is to time 2 pasta entrees. Our desserts were equally unamazing, highlighted by my wife not finishing her flour-less chocolate cake - first time ever. The after dinner espresso and tea were the keynotes of the night - saving Prosecco from a 1-Star review. Although being put on the rocks, my Old Fashioned was above par and ended the meal quite well. I have to say the finale of our meal definitely surpassed the introduction. In defense of Prosecco, I get easily overwhelmed in loud places, especially those with excessive extraneous conversations, and the general atmosphere did not help. We were seated next to a busy service door and a rather loud table of 6 was seated next to us midway through our meal. Given the rather high base volume, both of these seemed to push to my limits. I know this is a personal thing and many people enjoy this atmosphere - it is just not for me. Overall, Prosecco was good, but for the price I can think of many better options. If you are in the mood for Italian I would suggest any of the Francesca restaurants as an alternative. For the price in the neighborhood you have many options including Crofton on Wells and Sushisamba rio. read more

we had to wait at bar a bit b/c our table wasn't ready when we got there for our reservation; but the hostess was so friendly, she came to give us updates on timing & to apologize for the wait. We didnt mind at all since we'd secured bar seating, but this was definitely appreciated. We were seated adjacent to the chef's kitchen where the food made its way out of the kitchen and onto the tables of hungry guests; loud/fast-paced/exciting -- was like dinner and a show! (Not the spot for you if you're going for intimate/romantic). Food was great; I had the shrimp cavatelli, and my husband had a salad and created a pasta/spicy marinara dish. Wine was plentiful & we had 2 glasses each -- a little pricy, but what do you expect? Loved the complimentary prosecco toast - we were celebrating our 5-year anniv, so this was such great touch! For dessert, we debated over tiramisu or cheesecake; at the strong recommendation of our waitress, went w/ the ricotta cheesecake: AMAZING. Only negative: when we done, a server (not our waitress) came to clear our plates. We asked for boxes since we each had about half of our entrees left. the server took both plates & stacked them and our other plates on top of them -- guess he didn't hear/understand us. This is an almost perfect Italian place. It has mouth watering food, the great Italian service, great wine selection-recommendation. The server recommends well. They have spicy italian (didnt know italian could be spicy) food which is very suited to our palette. Eventhough we like the place we are one star away from loving it - one reason is our server forgot to pass one of our food order and he seemed ok about it, saying good you seem to be full anyway . Another reason is we are still to find any memorable dish, a dish which has blown us away. May be next time the rating will be 5 but for now its 4. read more

Went for restaurant week and got the special that they were running. We got our complimentary glass of Prosecco as we waited for our order. The food took a while to get to us and seemed like the chicken was overdone and the pasta under cooked. We did get a second glass of Prosecco for the wait but overall the meal was okay. Wow- I can't remember the last time I left a restaurant feeling like I was completely ripped off like I did after my dinner at Prosecco. Ok- yes, I will agree that the atmosphere was nice. Candles on the table- the whole nine yards. This was nice- until the middle of our meal when some huge blowers from the ceiling started directing cold air at our table, and almost blew the candles out. Yeah- there were pretty much nubs left at the end of the night. I had high hopes after the glass of Prosecco, but it was like everything slowly went downhill after that. We went during Restaurant Week so I can't really speak about the menu options (we had the fixed price menu and I expected it to be limited), but I basically ended up paying $30 for rigatoni with meat sauce. It had a much fancier name on the menu, but that's what it was. I've had more creative (and honestly tastier) entrees at The Olive Garden. My boyfriend had an eggplant dish and commented that it tasted pretty much like the one he used to get at the corner deli down the street from his old apartment for $5.95. Maybe I'm a little bit more finicky than some other people about my Italian food growing up in an Italian family, but the food to me was average at best. The desserts were decent (I liked the chocolate cake) but the coffee, when we finally got it (after we had pretty much finished our desserts), was luke warm and not very good. I don't think we were ever offered refills, and we couldn't find our server to get cream. The service- as everything else- started out good, and then tanked. It literally took us 25-30 minutes after we finished our dessert to get our check. I have been a waitress and because of that, I am sympathetic to people getting slammed with a lot of tables. But when we finally did get it, there was no "sorry it took so long" or anything like that. And I believe that our waiter knowing that he had already gotten his 18% tip (included in the fixed price) made him care less about whether we got good service or not- so I was not happy about that. Overall, I was really disappointed- and frankly pissed off that I picked Prosecco over Carnivale or some of the other places that were participating in Restaurant Week that I have never been to. Going out to a really nice dinner is a treat for us and I feel like there are about 100 other places that I would have had a better overall experience. read more

Today my friend mentioned that she ate at Prosecco, which prompted me to log on an write a review about my experience. I it gets two stars for good service (a warm welcome) a lovely room and a complimentary glass of prosecco to start. It went all downhill from there. Honestly, without going into too much detail, I don't know who is in the kitchen but the food is not authentic Italian. My husband's family is spread throughout Italy, including Sicily, when it Italy we cook and eat for days, so i like to think that I know a few things about the cuisine. They brought some mixed something or other to the table and after a few tastes I asked what it was. "Caponata!" the waiter replied. It was completely tasteless and I would be embarassed to serve that in my own home. The salads/salads were equally tasteless and disappointing. The pasta was inedible (orecchiette). Overall, a very sad evening and I was actually angry when the check came. BOO! read more

I loved it tonight. I had their lobster bisque. It's awesome - I've never had bisque like this,but it made me want to eat about 4 servings of it. Then I had the osso buco risotto, which was even just as awesome. I wanted to eat about ten servings of this lobster bisque. read more

Prosecco is one of my favorite italian restaurants in Chicago. The setting is elegant and intimate and perfect for any occasion. The service is always outstanding and the food never disappoints. This is a favorite among my executive team and their clients and the team at Prosecco always takes amazing care of the groups I send. I sent two groups on this past Friday night - a client and family celebrating the dad's 60th birthday and the President of my company entertaining clients - both came back with rave reviews! OMG Delicious!!! Went here for restaurant week and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. The restaurant and the food is very traditional. No smoke and mirrors here. If you want a restaurant where the ratio of food to plate is 1:10 or if you like carefully balanced reeds sitting on top of orange and blue foams looks elsewhere. I like that they greet all their patrons with a splash of Prosecco (the wine!). I had the Butternut squash cream soup which was delectable and surprisingly large. For my entree i had the 'Pollo Alla Valdastana' which was just... for lack of a better word... orgasmic! My fiancee had a Rigatoni with sausage which was delicious! For dessert we had Tiramisu which.. well... you cant go wrong with Tiramisu... :) The service was top-notch. Can't wait to go back! Great customer service and the food was delicious. They were able to cater towards our dietary restrictions and brought the food in a very timely manner. The restaurant was a bit louder than expected but all in all, great experience. Wine list was killer. I suggest ordering the Beet Carpaccio, Burrata e Prosciutto Con Pomodori Secchi and the Orecchiette Tartufate. read more

Prosecco offered me one of the finest dining experiences I've ever had. I brought my girlfriend at the time for her birthday and it was a pitch perfect evening. First, our server was phenomenal - if you want the best, ask for Christian. He knew everything about every item on the menu, was able to make perfect recommendations on what to get and what wine to pair it with. He was incredibly friendly, and when I mentioned that it was my girlfriend's birthday, he brought out a tiramisu (which was by far the best I've ever had) with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate in chocolate. Even better, the tiramisu didn't even appear on the bill. And at the end of the meal, he brought us each a glass of hot spiced wine, also complimentary. Just amazing service. Their wine list was incredibly long, with many bottles being imported directly from Italy. We were told that many of the ingredients were also imported from Italy. We got a bottle of prosecco that had hints of green apple and was incredible. It worked beautifully with the fresh mozzarella and tomatoes we had as an appetizer. I had the lamb and was blown away. Prosecco is a great resturant, with the biggest highlight being the service. Nice touches like a free glass of Prosecco to start the meal and bussers who clean the table and refresh the silverware between each course give this resturant a very high end feel. The waitstaff is friendly, extremly knowledgeable, perfectly attentive and somewhat charming. Pretty much everything you could hope for. The resturant is large and formal, but still intimate, great for a date or family dinner. The food is fantastic, not the rustic Italian cooking you would get at home, but the very refined and clean presentation of meals you expect from a fine dinning resturant. Nothing like a few bottles of wine during a long lunch to launch you into the weekend and our group did just that! But it wasn't the wine that earned Prosecco a 4-star review. No. The service and the food do the big leg work for this review. Our server was actually new to the restaurant (I think a week and a half in or so), but clearly had a lot of service experience. He was friendly and fell right into the fun-loving feel of our group. When we asked questions of the food that he wasn't sure of, such as the portion of an appetizer, he admitted it and excused himself to ask. Well done, server. We have no problem waiting to hear the truth! He was just a likable guy and certainly a good server. We sat outside on the sidewalk cafe and while the furniture doesn't seem to be the most comfortable iron I've ever seen, the cushions and pillows they provide more than make up for it! Now onto the food...the burrata appetizers. Oh..my..god. Do yourself a favor, or rather your stomach a favor and go order it now. The cheese is from Italy and it is ridiculously yummy! Many of us also ordered the orchiette tartufa. I thought it was delicious. Some in our group felt as though it was too garlicky. I think that was just the truffle oil, but either way, it is a rich dish, so be prepared. We also shared some of the delicious tiramisu. One member of the group offered that it was quite possibly the best tiramisu he'd ever had. Tall compliment coming from him. Excellent food with superb service. Was there for a birthday party (10 of us). We were all extremely pleased and impressed with the service. The server has a great sense of humor and knows the menu very well. Just by describing the ingredients used made us all hungry! That's how great the server was! The Halibut that we ordered was served slightly later than the rest of the food ordered but the chef made the effort to come to our table and apologized for the delay. Explained that something went wrong so he's remaking it. We didn't mind at all, wait wasn't too long anyway. The manager also stopped by to check on the service and if we were satisfied with where we were seated. We also we given free wine for the birthday celebration. We all agreed this is one of the best restaurants in town! Truly impress with the food and service. Would definitely recommend and dine in again. Excellent is an understatement!
