Don't waste your time with online orders. These people are real jerks. We ordered online and when we came in they sent me to the back of the line. By the time I got to the front of the line they had not even started my order. My order eventually came 45 mins later. They may be busy but this is the last time I will order here. I ordered an everything bagel. Yet they made a croissant. The egg and bacon croissant was dry and tasteless after all that. They need to learn from Rebelle up the road who are busier have far good service and excellent food. They should also learn from Rebelle that on busy weekends you should not do online orders. On my morning commute I decided to stop here and grab a bagel since it's right here on the R line and they open at 6am. Unfortunately they had decided to lock the front door and only accept drive through orders. I not being in a car, therefore could not shop here. I recently returned to Providence Bagel on a whim when my usual bagel spot was closed on New Year's Day. Wow! This was a much better experience than when I originally had gone during their opening week. Overall, the bagels are better, the service has improved, and it can still get quite busy. I ordered a garlic bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. The bagel was huge and chewy, and was very comparable to a NY style bagel. They have an overwhelmingly variety of cream cheeses and bagel flavors. One thing I don't like is how there isn't an option for a lox sandwich (bagel, cream cheese, lox, cucumbers, tomato, capers), and you essentially have to build your own which can get expensive. This is such a classic bagel sandwich that you can get at almost any bagel place, so I hope they add this to the menu! read more

Against our better judgment we gave Providence Bagel another chance last Saturday morning because my wife and I were really craving the veggie cream cheese. We have come to learn that if you want the bagel on the soft side you need to go early in the morning, if not the bagels are rock hard. We went through the drive thru at 8:30am ordering a poppy seed bagel and a wheat everything bagel. No surprise to us that when we got home we saw once again the order was wrong, third time in a row. The staff keeps confusing a wheat everything bagel with a whole wheat bagel. I understand mistakes happen but after two years of being in business they should have the simple mistakes corrected by now. It appears that since they announced the opening of a second location the service and quality have really gone down hill. Not only is the service horrible but the bagels remain very inconsistent. I really hope the owner reads this and makes the necessary changes, however, I'm doubtful as I never received a response on my last review. If I was just reviewing the service, this would be a one star review. There is NO reason to wait 15 minutes to get 5 bagels in a bag with a tub of cream cheese. This place would die in New York. Their ticket system needs to change. Separate line ( quick checkout ) for grab and bag orders. Sandwiches should have their own line since they expect a wait. The staff is slow and inefficient ( and I counted at least 6 behind the register) maybe due to this bad system. This place really needs to get their act (and attitudes) together. I ordered via the app and was told when I arrived that they never received it. Mistakes happen, not a big deal. The employee asked to see the order on my phone and I showed it to her. After some back and forth I did get my bagel, but not without the employee repeating to me again that I never ordered it or paid for it. There was really no need for that. I promise that I'm not trying to scam anyone out of $3. I literally showed her the Apple Pay transaction and the order confirmation. Terrible customer service. Bagels are excellent. I had the lox with jalapeño cream cheese. I love the customization of choosing my bagel and flavored cream cheese. Tables were not cleaned and staff took up two separate tables for their break. I absolutely could not wait for Providence Bagel to open. I'm a big Bagel Gourmet fan, but was thrilled there was going to be a non-chain bagel shop on my daily commute. Do yourself a favor and try the bacon scallion cream cheese on a toasted everything bagel. Sure you'll need to pop a breath mint or two afterward, by the flavor combination is absolutely worth it. I've tried several other bagel/cream cheese combos since they've opened, but this is by far my favorite. As mentioned in a few other reviews, the service leaves something to be desired, primarily when it comes to the drive thru. I definitely recommend heading inside (you may have to park on the street depending on the day and time), especially if it's your first visit. This will absolutely be my last time at Providence Bagel! I come every single week either on a Tuesday or Thursday and order the same exact thing every time. And they mess up my order on 80% of my visits. I kept coming back to give chances because I know they have decent bagels and with my family in the restaurant industry, I know we all make mistakes. But this is my last straw. I ordered and paid for Nitro cold brew but get a iced coffee. Last week, they burnt my Asiago Bagel. The week before, they gave me onion Bagel instead of Asiago. Another week, they only filled my Nitro Cold Brew to 60% of the cup and I had to ask the lady to fill it up more. A month prior that, I get there and I was given some gross pumpkin Bagel and was told that's all they had and couldn't do anything even though I paid for Asiago. Another time, they didn't have enough veggie cream cheese for the TWO bagels I ordered that when my boyfriend and I got home, one serving of cream cheese was spread out between the 2 bagels we ordered. If they didn't have enough, they should have told us and we would gladly pick another type of cream cheese. There's always something wrong on most of my visits that I rather not spend money to get frustrated there anymore. I am on time constraint which is why I order online ahead of time and don't have time to be going back. I kid you not, I wished I had taken pictures every single time I ordered. Food: decent, but not special. I'm glad Providence has a bagel shop option with a drive through (is what I used to say). Pulling up this morning I was met with a new policy: no egg sandwiches at the drive through. I get that handling volume orders is hard, but this is literally what you do. Unfortunately, it doesn't warrant me buying 30$ worth of bagels for them all to taste like nothing. I then brought half to my parents and they also said the same thing, no flavor. The actual bagel itself is great. It's toasts very well, the texture is nice, but plain Jane! Oh and the bagels were dumped loosely in a brown bag resembling a stop and shop paper bag. I had no idea. I grabbed them from the window and put them in back seat. They were touching the tubs of sweaty cream cheese and the bag had fallen over. I do love a good bagel. They are round and have a hole in the middle, you know like...um..A BAGEL! Ya, that'll do. Anyway, their bagels are very tasty, super fresh and come in awesome flavor varities like french toast and everything (my personal favorite). Between the bagel choices and the tons of different cream cheeses, I'll bet you could have a different combo everyday for years and never repeat. Some time ago, I'd felt compelled to give a less-than-positive review of providence bagel after being served vastly underripe avocado on a bagel. I'm thrilled to report that the experience has never been repeated, but what *have* consistently been repeated are amazing bagels! I firmly believe that PVD bagels serves the fluffiest and most delicious bagels in Providence. Further, they have tons of vegetarian options and even a lot of options for weirdos like me who don't love cream cheese. Their coffee is excellent, too, and has saved me on many a morning. I don't understand some of the negative comments because each time I come to PVD Bagels I carry away a frigin' crazy tasty bagel with fresh in house specialty cream cheese, a solid nitro coffee along with knowing I supported a local business. Also...they have a drive thru...c'mon! My favorite thing here is the Asiago bagel and you get it with veggie cream cheese. You know on a cheesy bagel that disc of melted but hardened cheese at the bottom of the hole? They execute this, unintentionally, so perfectly. I like the consistency, I like that they're a bit softer, so really this depends on your preference. Finally had an opportunity to try this place, after hearing so much about it! They lived up to their reputation. I placed my order online, which was uncomplicated and user friendly. I chose the Federal Hill - an egg sandwich with roasted red peppers, mushrooms, cheese and pesto. I wanted to try the pumpernickel bagel and was feeling adventurous, so I did. It was a nice, flavorful combination that was ready and waiting when I arrived, ten minutes after ordering. The coffee I ordered was piping hot and quite good as well. However, the atmosphere and drive through aspect take away from the vibe and make it feel more commercialized/chain than a local establishment. They have so many flavors of bagels and cream cheese, and delicious breakfast sandwich options. The bagels were okay, not amazing.
