My husband and I are in town visiting family and friends and were super excited to try this place out! I ordered a sesame bagel with veggie spread and my husband ordered an asiago bagel with jalapeño spread and two coffees! The bagels were so fresh and delicious and the coffee was one of the best cups of coffee I've had in a long time. The decor was modern and clean and the service was amazing...everyone we encountered was eager and excited to help, which is so refreshing. I have mixed feelings about this place. Food is the most important part of dining in my opinion, above service, atmosphere, and price. I love their bagels. The staff is friendly most of the time. But they are almost always overwhelmed on weekends. This is not surprising, but there are two inconvenient and obnoxious facets of Providence Bagel that *almost* made me leave without my order. The deliciousness of the bagels made me wait. 1. I waited in the drive-thru line for about 10 minutes and then placed my order. I was informed that I couldn't order a breakfast sandwich at the drive-thru. This is kind of ridiculous. I get why it might work for the restaurant when they're busy, but this is a structural and logistic nightmare. I agreed to come inside to order, but I couldn't escape the drive-thru, because there is not enough space to drive around the line. This also seems like a safety issue, but regardless. 2. So I go to order inside, but parking is a disaster. Note that this is a *driving destination*- it's not in a walkable area, they have a drive- thru. So they should accommodate cars, but they don't. I should also mention that the accessible parking space is located in such a way where it is often blocked by cars waiting in the drive-thru line. And the I waited inside *after* I ordered for another 15 minutes for 3 bagels. So it's pretty impossible to get a bagel here but on a weekend if you're on any kind of timeline. But the bagels almost make up for it. read more

This is our go to bagel place. They make the best everything bagel I've ever had. Early morning on the weekends is te best time to go.

Really love their selection however the set up of a business that is so frequently busy is very poorly planned. There is NEVER any parking in the lot or on the street and after waiting in the drive through when we got up to order they refused to take any orders for hot food- which should have been posted prior to entering the drive through line. The bagels are very good. Have had them with butter, another time with cream cheese, and on another visit had a bagel breakfast sandwich......all very good. Staff very friendly, very good coffee. Only complaint is about the hot chocolate. My friend had a hot chocolate that was not very good. Not much flavor and the hot chocolate only comes in medium or large. A medium hot chocolate was very large and tasted like something made from a package. Would have expected this place to have a tasty hot chocolate.....disappointing. read more

Update to previous review. Providence Bagel has definitely worked out some of the kinks. We went in yesterday around 10 and we were delighted to see they were fully stocked up on all types of bagels. All I have to say is wow. If you are a carb freak like myself or just enjoy a fresh warm bagel then it behooves you to try this place out!!! A wide variety of bagels and spreads for every taste. The bagels are 100% the star of the show for me. They are huge bagels and they are definitely not cheap on the spreads. Often I have to remove some cause they put so much. From sweet to savory this place is awesome. It does get busy in the mornings so be prepared to wait a little bit. They do have a drive thru which is fantastic because the parking lot is small and street parking isn't always available. The staff are always chipper and are deff young and hip! This is a really great place. Seriously consider giving them a try! read more

Ever since I saw the sign during construction I was excited to try Providence Bagel, unfortunately it did not live up to the hype that has surrounded it. First, this is definitely not a "New York" bagel, this is the same "baked" bagel that you can find anywhere else in Providence i.e. bagel gourmet. Seems like they cut corners by not taking the time to develop a true NY bagel where it is boiled and then baked, totally different taste and texture. They could have hired a consultant and/or licensed from an NY bagel store to help develop and run the store. I am in NY once a week and go to either Brooklyn Bagel Company or Murray's Bagels - both have product/service down to a science and Prov Bagel should go take notes. As far as service needs a lot of work. I ordered a wheat bagel, scooped with cream cheese. Out of five people working the counter only one knew what "scooping" a bagel meant. They also got my order incorrect giving me an everything bagel (wheat bagel was printed on the order sheet stapled to the bag), unfortunately I didn't realize this until I got home. Bagel and cream-cheese was good but same as other stores in Providence. I am hopeful that Rebel Bagel, which boils and bakes their bagels, opens a location in Providence. For now I will just stick with bagel gourmet as there as no lines and it is virtually the same product. read more

I have lived here for 13 years, originally from Long Island, New York, where the best bagels ever are located! Since moving to Rhode Island, I have been unable to find a similar bagel shop like what I was used to until now. We spotted Providence Bagel one day and decided to give it a try. I am so thrilled to say NY bagels have met their match!! These bagels are so good, they aren't doughy like some others I've tried and always are very fresh. The product was good. But the place was dirty. The floors were sticky, the tops of the nitro systems literally enough dust to write your name in it And they lost our order. They've been open what a year, 2? Haven't worked out the management end of things. If the front of the house isn't clean.... I don't want to know what the back of the house looks like, and I'm not coming back to eat anything coming out of there. read more

I have been to Providence Bagel several times. The bagels aren't my favorite, but the shop is convenient and the prices aren't terrible. They have a lot of flavor choices. I really enjoy their cream cheese spreads. The service is friendly. The problem is that they're open every night until 5:00 and often they run out of bagels in the beginning of the afternoon. When they first opened, I got it. They weren't sure how many bagels to make. They've been open now long enough to know what their demand is. I was there on Friday at 2:00 and they had three kinds of bagels available, all sweet. No plain. My friend asked what happened when they completely ran out of bagels and the guy said then they just sell coffee. read more

I went here for the first time today and it was busy and it showed in their performance. I ordered the harvest sandwich which is just cold vegetables and I added cheese to it. It took 25 minutes to get out to me. Now I understand it was busy but 15 minutes through waiting I asked when it would be out and they said it was coming right up, but I then waited another 10 minutes. It was a good sandwich but I just don't understand why it took so long since it was a cold sandwich and people that ordered after me got their food much before me. read more

Whole wheat everything bagel is literally covered top and bottom in seasonings. So delish. Veggie cream cheese that actually has veggie flavor. Quality coffee with good flavor. Only note, is that there could have been more generous with the lox. Overall, a great start to the day. read more

This is how a bagel should be! Crispy thin outer crust with soft doughy inside. The dough isn't dense, so it gives it a lighter feel. Plenty of cream cheese to bread ratio. The thickness is a tad smaller than say, Gabys on Long Island or Tals in NYC, but hey no need for extra carbs right? So excited to have a real bagel place in PVD! read more

So they still have some growing pains here. The bagels, coffee, cream cheese, and sandwiches are all great and reasonably priced. They have decent parking and a drive thru. But as some other folks have said, the service is lacking. When I went around lunch it took forever to get my bagel sandwich and they forgot to give me my coffee. I have been to this bagel shop many times since they've opened. In the beginning here was a bit of a learning curve, I get that. Today I went in and waited 21 minutes from the time I ordered, to get my breakfast sandwich. I think that's a little ridiculous especially when you are the consumer. Even 5-10 minutes seems like an eternity when you're just standing there waiting, so imagine how 21 minutes felt. This is my observation: it seemed like only 1 employee was making sandwiches. Every time she came out from the back she put one bagel in the toaster. I think there needs to be more of a sense of urgency to get food out faster and also more than one person making sandwiches. If it weren't for the amazing bagels and cookies I would never return but for that I say, see you next time. read more

This review is for Providence Bagel on North Main Street. First of all, park on the street if it's a viable option. The parking lot is way too small for the amount of business that it generates. Upon waking in, my friend and I were greeted warmly by one of the staff. Thinking this was going to be a nice experience... So, I placed my order for a medium hot coffee and the brown bear egg sandwich on a sesame bagel. The coffee was just mediocre and the egg sandwich was flavorless and bland. It definitely needed salt and pepper. My friend and I ordered the same thing, so this was a total disappointment times two. The next hideousness was trying to leave. So, we were totally blocked in because someone double parked behind us. The driver who blocked us in had to come out of line and try to move out of the way. This event took another ten minutes because cars keep coming in to the lot to get into the shop. My friend had to get out of the car and play traffic cop so everyone could get out. The next step was trying to try and loop around the drive through to get out. Well, don't be fooled. It's wide enough for two cars until you get around the corner. Then it turns to a single line and then a double lane once again. Poor planning, no signage. We weren't the only people to try to pull through and find out the hard way. This trip to PVD Bagel was supposed to be a little treat. So much for that, I should've just eaten a hard boiled egg at home! read more

I want to start off by saying I think this place has potential. I went there this morning at 8am ordered a sesame bagel with chive cream cheese- they were out of chive so I had to get plain. Then I pull up to the drive thru, get handed my bagel and it wasn't cut in half. The bagel really should be cut in half just like a sandwich if you want a NY style bagel. Also the bagel was not good and had the a tiny smear of cream cheese on it. It tasted like a roll or a bagel I would get from Dunkin' Donuts not from a local bagel store! I see the potential in this place and I really want to continue to be a customer. I'll try it again in a month to see if anything has improved. PLEASE READ ENTIRE REVIEW......If I could give no stars I would!!! Extremely disappointed at my visit on a Sunday. First off the workers need a serious service with a smile training. Everyone I mean everyone was grumpy and you made to feel as it was a privilege to be served. I got the "Brown Bear". I could not have been more disappointed. What was billed as a bagel with egg, avocado, onion, tomato and provolone. I knew right away by the lazy wrapping job with the cheap foil. What was inside was a decent bagel and a dry overcooked omlette looking egg, little to zero avocado, old raw onions (still burbing up hours later) one lil slice of tomato. Could not have been any worse!!! Absolutely will not be back!.............
