Did a family brunch here while people were visiting from out of the country. Started off promising, but as soon as we put in our orders it went downhill. Several orders were missing and 3 out of a group of 11 received their food when everyone else had finished eating. The staff weren't even apologetic about this. We had to specifically ask for those meals to be comped, and in the end the said they would comp 2 items (even though 4 had arrived at the end of our meal)- the kicker is they had only comped one. Had a reservation at 7:00 pm this eve for our family. Walked to the restaurant around 6:50, and the doors were locked. We thought it seemed strange that not a soul was at the restaurant. However, the 2 stars is because of the customer service. Ordered a cappuccino and it never came. Even though it was brought up twice to our server. My brunch experience surges to the top of my list due to the service by Sergio! I have no provisions to my experience at Provisional! It was such a wonderful experience! I received three birthday presentations with candles and all! The eggs Benedict was to DIE for! The breakfast pizza created was a favorite for the table - an adoughable compliment to a wonderful meal. The service was spectacular and Sergio was phenomenal! I recommend (1) Sergio, (2) having a birthday, and (3) the eggs Benedict! It was #pendryperfect and egg-selent and a great place to #MEAT! The celebrations were amazing- I could not candle going anywhere else to celebrate!! He was also very complimentative of my friend Cooper's shirt. Crab cake Benedict AMAZING. It is like a Maryland Crab cake . No fillers all crab. Egg was poached perfectly. Hollandaise sauce was seasoned perfectly. My husband order a breakfast pizza and that was amazing. Drinks - the bloody marys were fun. Mimosa flight definitely interesting. I ordered a drink that had St Germain and when they were unable to find the St Germain they informed me and brought a glass of Rose' out. It was an amazing glass of Rose' and the bartender came out and even apologized about the St Germain going missing. Then once found they made us the St Germain drink. This is actually the second time I've been here for breakfast. First the space is amazing! Unlike a busy breakfast restaurant it has high ceilings, tables are crammed together, and it's not super noisy. The service is impeccable. We had coffee, avocado toast, and poached eggs wirh bacon. Let's talk about the coffee. It is soooo good. That was one of the reasons I returned while in town. One of the best things that happened was as we were almost done with our meal the waiter asked if we wanted more coffee to go. Of course we did!!! We were heading to a conference. The food was delicious. The eggs were perfectly poached. They definitely don't skimp on the avocado either. The toast was piled high. The bread was super thick and very tasty as well. The salad with the pre-fixe was my favorite item and was delicious with perfectly caramelized pears, cheese, arugula and candied nuts. It was perfect with the amount of dressing to items in the salad but unfortunately it ended there. The focaccia bread with dehydrated bread was also were good, toasted to perfection. The octopus was very bland and really didn't capture any flavor. The chorizo stole the show in the plate as that was delicious and the only thing I ate on that plate, unfortunately as it wasn't the main part of the dish it came with about 4 small pieces spread throughout the dish. The Pork Tenderloin was cooked perfectly but again lacked any sort of flavor. We also had a mushroom pasta that lacked flavor however was very light in comparison to your normal heavy pasta. The pasta tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly. Dessert was delicious, we ordered the almond cake which had the perfect mix of different layers. Price Overall, the price was reasonable but did wish the food was better. $20 wine pairing with the portions was a great value considering the glasses were filled heavily. This restaurant offered a preset 3 course dinner menu for a holiday occasion. I made reservations 2 weeks in advance but was seated outside. I asked if I could be seated inside and would be willing to wait longer since it was very cold that night. They told me they could not accommodate me and since it was a holiday, everywhere else was booked so I had no other option. Their heated lamps were very weak and I had to wear my jacket the entire time to avoid from shivering. I had booked this restaurant because the inside decor looked beautiful and I would have thought I could experience the ambience given my reservation was made much prior. Unfortunately that was not the case and I also found it interesting that everyone else seated outside seemed to be younger and everyone inside was older, but that was just a jaded observation. Come on a Sunday! Why? Parking is free, there is a Sunday market right in front, and there was live music. I am not sure if there is live music every Sunday afternoon, but when I went in, my friend and I were able to hear some acoustic music while munching on our food. It's perfectly located in the area where you can find places to shop, get a drink, or just to walk around and explore the city. You'll find a parking structure located just across street from the restaurant. Maybe I'm mistaking but I think we pay around $20? Yea something like that. When we got there, we checked in with the host (reservation was made one week in advance-highly recommenced) and they're so nice and friendly. We only waited like 10 minutes. Once seated, we could finally observed the beauty of the decor. Super modern and clean look. The atmosphere was perfect. Our waitress was so sweet and friendly and made my friend feel special. Yes, we went there to celebrate a promotion and best idea ever. The dishes recommended to us was on point. Everything tasted so dammn good. I was full and very satisfied with the flavors and the quality of the food. The drinks were good too. They have a large variety of options. I can't wait to go back. I make it a point to eat breakfast here whenever I'm in San Diego. Most recently, I stayed at the Pendry hotel, so that made it easy! This time I had my mom and kids with me, so I encouraged my mom to get the bourbon banana French toast (so that I could have a few bites!). I got a create your own omelet with chicken apple sausage (omg it was amazing), onions, and spinach. The breakfast potatoes were perfect! My mom loved the variety of mimosas they offered. She chose the blood orange mimosa, and it was great! I highly recommend Provisional to everyone I know in San Diego. Oh my gosh this place! THIS PLACE! My girlfriends and I walked in for a late lunch on a Sunday, figured it would be packed! BUT NO! Our server Matthew went above and beyond. We had just come from the Bridal Bazaar at the convention center, and his hospitality welcoming my newly engaged friend was one of the nicest gestures I've ever seen in a restaurant. The restaurant itself is apart of a hotel, but I had no clue. Every single person working was doing SOMETHING. It wasn't busy but everyone was keeping busy cleaning. I like that. FOOD! My friends and I each got a different pizza, and each was delicious. I had the goat cheese, honey, and chorizo one and it was SO GOOD (add more honey please!) Overall ,we will be back. Everything about this place was gorgeous, very Gatsbyish. The wines were a bit on the pricey side, but their selection was great- it wasn't the cheapy wines you often get at your typical restaurants. We were both impressed with how classy the place was upon walking in and we had a really nice waitress named Doris who was so sweet and so helpful and walked us through the menu. We ended up getting a couple things, but mainly, their avocado toast is solid and their egg omelette is so fluffy! The service paired with the nice ambient atmosphere made for a great experience and was a really nice start to our day.
