We have been to Psomi numerous times and always enjoyed the food and ambiance. Went this past Sunday for brunch. First time I ordered the Egg Benedict and had a choice of meat. I chose the pork. It just didn't live up to expectations for one of my favorite brunch egg dishes. There was nothing distinct about the dish just kind of muddled together as opposed to each part of the dish standing on its own. May have been the hollandaise, not really sure but did not enjoy. As always the ambience and service was great. Will try something different on next visit. read more

It's great to have food that has a light touch and an even balance of flavors. Everything here from the Pomegranate Citrus Fizz to the Baklava Coffee Cake; Sweet (but not too sweet) and moist, and everything in between had clear, clean, fresh flavors. We had the Greek Dip as one of our mains. The au jus for the dip tasted like a great French Onion Soup. I could have had a bowl of it. The chicken was done perfectly and the baguette was crusty on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Perfect! All bread made daily on premise I was told. The Lamb Pita was very good. It was a little light on the tzatziki for me. I asked for a side to add. The lamb did not have an overpowering "lamb" taste. It was very subtle but very savory. The pita was excellent. I could have just had a few of these all by themselves. As an app we had the favosalata (yellow split pea puree). The surprise of this dish was the crispy capers as a topping. The pita wedges seemed a little inconsistent. Some wedges were a little too oily for me. Also a couple of them were slightly more chewy than I prefer. I would have liked them to be more like the big pita that I had with my lamb. Morgan, our server, was professional, personable and extremely knowledgeable about the food. And the entire staff from bussers to the folks who brought stuff to the table were excellent as well. I asked several different people about the food (i.e. how was the kalamata aoili made, what's in the bread basket, etc.) Everyone, even if they were just dropping off water, provided a knowledgeable answer. No one said that they didn't know. It shows a great effort by the owner that they seem to have made sure that the entire staff knows what's going on with the food The sweepers. Ah, the sweepers. Immediately after someone was done with their meal and left the table, folks would come in with a broom and dustpan and thoroughly, I mean really thoroughly sweep the area under the table. This seems to be a place that pays attention to every aspect of the dining experience. Snap impressions... Cordato with olive oil splash; velvety. Cafe Americano; bold espresso flavor up front. Cute little restaurant with far more outdoor seating than indoor. I was looking to carb load before a marathon, and my sister recommended Psomi because of their bread basket. We were only able to make a reservation for an outdoor table, which we showed up to at 10 am. They had the heat lamps on because it was a little chilly. Throughout the meal, service was pretty slow even though they had a lot of staff. I'm not sure what was up with that, but it definitely detracted from the experience (it took a good 10 minutes to get the check). For food, I ordered: - Bread Basket: Honestly, some of the bread was good, some was meh. I would skip this in the future and just order the bread that looks good. - Side of eggs: These were honestly delicious! Really nicely scrambled. - French Toast: The pictures I saw made it look so beautiful, but this ended up being slightly underwhelming. Maybe it was the custard? I don't know, but do yourself a favor and skip it. I also got a americano with a side of baklava syrup, which was pretty decent. Psomi was recommended to me by my sister, and I traveled from Ocala to Tampa just to try it out. Let me tell you, it was worth the drive, traffic and all. We started with the Octopus appetizer and fresh juice drinks. I had the Tangerine and it was yummy! The other guests got a special coffee and a tangerine mimosa, all looked and tasted superb. Then for the main meal, I got the Salmon eggs Benedict, it was served on a unique, fresh biscuit with a perfectly poached egg and the béchamel sauce and a sprinkle of herbs & seeds. Honestly it was probably the best Benedict that I've ever had! My guests got the spanakopita, and the French toast with fresh berries. The French toast was about 2" thick and my nephew devoured it before I could request a bite. They even have Louchoumadethes which is a traditional Greek treat that is served usually on New Year day but I could eat them any day, a little donut hole covered in Greek honey. The menu was so wonderful and I'll admit I had a hard time deciding, so I'll have to go back and try more on this phenomenal menu. My very first attempt at coming for brunch I tried to reserve a table but online it required a credit card. Now, if I changed the count or needed to cancel I didn't feel comfortable with the thought of being charged if there was a change like this. So I canceled the whole group and went somewhere else. My 2nd attempt to come, again for brunch, on a Sunday... I showed up with a friend (just 1) and there was a 90 minute wait. It really didn't look quite so busy, but we didn't walk through the entire place. We left and enjoyed brunch elsewhere. My 3rd and most recent visit a couple weeks ago, I showed up with 2 others for a little nosh. We ordered at the counter, they were very nice and helpful and patient. All I had was a latte and coffee cake, my friends had just a coffee each. The latte was lovely and the coffee cake was good, but not to die for. We grabbed a comfy seat on the couches outside without a wait. It was a nice day out and liked that we could enjoy it out there, but to put water and anything else on the mini little pedestal-type tables were difficult to fit everything... Remember all we had were coffees. And one coffee cake. It was super squished, but we made the best of it. I was glad to finally try something! Although, as I walked by seated people who had meals, I thought their meals looked great. Maybe one day I will get the whole experience. For now, 3 attempts and all I've been able to try are a coffee and cake...it's fine if you can get in. But, that's all I can say about it at the moment. read more

So many people in Tampa have recommended Psomi to me, so naturally I had to give it a try! Make sure to make a reservation in advance because this spot is PACKED. The restaurant has a very bright and airy feel with plenty of indoor and outdoor dining. Gorgeous for a weekend brunch which is exactly what we had! Greek dip: I love a French dip and this was a fun take on a classic. The feta-brined chicken breast was juicy and tender although I wouldn't say that I got a strong Greek flavor. The dipping broth was really the star of the show and added so much to the sandwich. I also loved the sauce that came with the fries. Pan spanakopita: WOW! Probably the best spanakopita I've ever had. So crispy, flaky, savory, and simply delicious. This dish came out scorching hot, so be careful to not burn yourself. Overall really tasty food and beautiful ambiance! The only issue I had is that when I ordered the strawberry basil iced tea, I told our server that I might have received the wrong drink (blackberry sage iced tea). He didn't seem to believe me until he made the correct drink which had a very distinct different color, but oddly enough he brought me out a smaller size of the correct tea that I had ordered. Ate lunch at Howard Ave location in Tampa for a family celebration lunch. parking is very limited and even valet parking was full. Had to park across street on Howard Ave and cross very busy street with no crosswalk. Lunch was OK but very pricey compared to other Greek restaurants. Ordered a smash burger and was $26.00 . Asked for mayonnaise on side and was charged an additional dollar for the mayonnaise. Service was good for a larger party to be taken care of but overall they are too pricey. read more

First time back to Psomi in over a year, and I my only complaint is with myself for waiting so long to return. Truly an exceptional experience every time! I got here before the rest of my group, so I was seated at our table for brunch and ordered the baklava latte. It comes with a tiny braided cookie, which I loved. Dipping any form of crispy baked good into a coffee is one of my favorite things to do!!! The baklava flavor was unique and I really enjoyed it. Also, just a gorgeous latte presentation. I ordered the strapatsada, which is a Greek egg scramble and added bacon to it, which is a thick cut fatty bacon. The creamy feta made these eggs phenomenal. My table ordered the French toast, avocado Psomi, and a bunch of baked goods including 2 spanakopitas, 2 baklava coffee cakes, and a bagel ball. I was in town for my birthday and me and my girlfriends wanted brunch on Saturday morning. A Tampa local recommended this place and when I looked it up online the menu seemed perfect. We arrived and then realized there is valet parking but it was only $5 so we said okay (one of us had cash). The valet attendant asked if we had a reservation and we said no... so then we got worried that we might not be able to eat here! But once we got inside and told the hostess about our reservation-less group, she said she would figure something out for us. We were sat outside and during our walk out there we saw how big this restaurant is!!! It's huge, inside and outside!! Outside was hot but we were under an umbrella so that was nice (except for when the wind came and almost knocked it over)!!! Anyways to drink I had an iced coffee and for flavor, the waiter suggested the baklava and so I went with it but the flavor was kind of disappointing. Three people in the party ordered this and we all agreed that the first sip was good and you can taste it but for the rest of the coffee it's not there. To eat I ordered the Strapatsada. It was absolutely delicious. The onions and feta really made it hit the spot! Everyone else in my party enjoyed their meal as well. When we were leaving we were waiting for valet to get our car and this umbrella fell, hitting my friend in the forehead and almost knocking out an older lady who was also waiting with us. We told the valet attendant that the umbrellas need to be better secured. I would like to come back here and try more off their menu. Overall I had a nice visit and would recommend this place again. As someone that lives in a predominately Greek neighborhood in NYC, I really enjoyed the offerings from this very neat restaurant in South Tampa. The favosalata was as good as any that you can find in Santorini. Keftedes sub was tasty, avocado bagel with smoked salmon was also superb and the octopus was perfectly grilled. The drinks we ordered were also quite tasty and refreshing. Oh and I also need to mention the accompanying bread and pita...delicious! The ambiance was great, the spot seems to be very popular and with good reason. My only negative critique is unfortunately the service. Our waitress did a good job explaining the dishes, but when they brought out, 3 waitresses were carrying and had no idea which table they belonged to. Had to call them out and tell them who had what. Our dishes were also not cleared in a timely manner when we finished, which is never a good look. It was a busy Saturday and perhaps and I'm sure this can be improved next time we visit. I tried this restaurant because they have healthy fries, they hand cut their fries and fry them in organic extra virgin olive oil. Unhealthy seed oils are the norm for the restaurant industry so I really appreciate a healthier frying method! I ordered the farm on your table sandwich with fries and I thought the meal was tasty! Fries were fresh and great. Well seasoned too. The sandwich was also delicious, one of the best vegetarian sandwiches I've had. I enjoyed some of the greek sauces that were included too. This is now my new brunch spot. I had gotten the French toast which was so light. I'm used to French toast being heavy but this wasn't. And the custard they had stuffed it with was sweet and delicious. I had also gotten the lavender lemonade and off the first sip I was amazed. Service was great. He was brought a hot chocolate, sent it back and they brought a child's plastic cup with about 8oz of chocolate milk in.... The waitress asked if he would like it in a glass, obviously and adult would not want to drink it out of a child's cup. Turns out they were going to charge us $6.50 for the chocolate milk - that's more than what I pay for a gallon. Poor quality chocolate milk at that! They took that off the bill. Ridiculous. Foodwise I had the eggs Benedict and my husband had the americani sandwich. Nothing spectacular, especially my husbands' egg sandwich. Very boring. We also tried the tzatziki dip, they charge you extra for a few more slices of pita so beware. I absolutely love Psomi and highly recommend this restaurant. The ambiance and vibe are just right; It makes you want to stay all day. The food here is the best Greek Mediterranean food I have had in Tampa. It's moderately priced, and they do an awesome job with making sure my orders are free of gluten. They even will lettuce wrap your chicken souvlaki or gyro in lettuce if you request that. I have tried a lot of the menu items that are gluten-free and loved all of them except the hummus (it just wasn't good to me), but everything else was great. I would avoid eating the fries, though if you have Celiacs like I do. I was told they have a dedicated fryer usually, but sometimes it is used for other items. On one particular day I was advised they had just changed out the oil, and it was safe to eat the fries, but I did have an extreme gluten reaction to them (I am however, extremely sensitive to gluten and its different for everyone). Other than that, I have never had an issue at Psomi, and everything is always a 5/5. Although I can not have it, my husband says the French toast (made in their bakery) is to die for. It looks to die for. We always come for brunch. It's the best. Just make a reservation and be sure to be on time because it gets busy, and they get booked up for brunch. They have valet parking for 5$, but you can park on the street for free if there are open spaces. I highly recommend the Tarpon Greek salad. It's delicious and can feed a few people. The eggs and the chicken souvlaki. The dolmades were also very very good! They make a great Bloody Mary here from scratch also and it is served with a big thick slice of Butcher block bacon. Our patio table is ready on time, the service was outstanding, the strawberry basil iced tea was refreshing and light and perfect accompaniment to our Eggs Benedict. When you first enter the restaurant you're greeted with the cafe area, where you can enjoy freshly baked savory and sweet Greek pastries with a coffee. Smells amazing! Don't be deterred by the neighborhood, this is simply a lovely brunch stop. They offer valet parking or you can parallel park on the street. Service was great and the food came out wildly fast. The space is beautiful and very thoughtfully crafted. We chose to eat family style. Unfortunately they were out of Greek yogurt so had to skip the affogato but got a variety of coffees including an espresso martini. We tried a few of the al la cart breads, the BYOB, French toast and Benedict. We wouldn't get the boat again but the French toast and Benedict were perfection. So unique and well done.
