I came here with 2 of my friends for a birthday and we had a FABULOUS time! 2 of us made day of appointments for the Korean body scrub and massage. The staff was super accommodating and were able to get all 3 of us in at the same time. The scrub was phenomenal, I've never felt this soft in my life. I was comfortable walking around in a towel at the spa and using the facilities. I will be back during the winter for another body scrub and I'll be returning to use the facilities before then. read more

What a treat to return to this place. It was a nice surprise to find they had remodeled and looks so new and modern. They keep the place very clean. There were a couple of changes that I will prepare myself next time. They used to provide sandals but there were a few on the rack and told I can use. They looked like someone else's and I will bring my own next time. And I was not provided with a uniform to enjoy the dry saunas. My massage therapist got me a robe and said I could go in that. I prefer the shirt and shorts. Be sure to ask at check in for the uniform. I have baby soft skin after a scrub and massage from Joy. I love the steam room, it is more efficient and smaller then the old one. I prefer to use the wash stations rather then the shower for the first wash (they moved them to the hot tub area). Please remember if you go with friends that the etiquette is to be quiet. I had newbies that squealed while being scrubbed and spoke loudly in the shower. We are all there to relax. This is a month long overdue review. I had my first experience here for my birthday and I will definitely be coming back. The lady at the front desk was soft spoken and at times I didn't understand/hear her, but I got the gist of what she was saying. She was very kind and polite. After checking in, you pay up front. If you pay cash (I did), you get a free face mask. They will provide you a basket with towels and a robe and you get assigned a locker. After getting completely disrobed (I was shy at first, but loosen up after seeing how chill everyone was), you can decide to explore their hot tub, sauna, etc. before your appointment time. Once it's your appointment time, a cute lady will come and call your number and escort you to their table. And then the relaxation begins. The scrub. Oh the scrub. It was amazing. They start scrubbing with you facing up, then you face down. They get in between everything too. Once the scrubbing ends, they will rinse you down and have you shower and return for the massage. My massage was intense but I didn't want her to stop. I felt she felt where my tensions were and was trying to help me release it even though it hurt well into the next day. They also do the facial during this time. Then lastly, the hair wash. It was such a wonderful and awesome experience. I have mentioned this place to several people already. Okay this review is long over due actually ... so I have been a frequent user of korean spas, but I have been coming to PSY spa for quite some time now. The facility is always nice and clean whenever I go and the treatments are great! They always had a issue though where in the men's side guys would be doing inappropriate behavior and they also did not care if other people looked as well.. it would usually be a group of them as well almost as if they are trying to take over for themselves and not have other individuals in there. You can tell the owners of this business cares about their customers they put up a new wall for the showers so men can have more privacy and they also put a new rule that men have to wear swim trunks! Which I absolutely love because now it seems like the inappropriate behavior has stopped YES FINALLY! I see these bad reviews which are totally not true and it seems like those reviews left are probably the same customers who were doing the inappropriate behavior? I mean come on isn't it obvious the review's the guy said he's been coming here for years then stopped because of the new policy ...urmm RED FLAG? Don't be discouraged by these guys leaving bad reviews PSY we see you doing the right thing and trying to make this place better for all customers! read more

My wife and I have been going to this spa for years. Even when they increased the price to 40.00 and never lifted the time limit (3 hours M-F & 2 hours on weekends) that they implemented right after the pandemic claiming it was for guests safety and a requirement. That may have been the case then, but other places I've been do not have these time restrictions any longer. Cleanliness has never been a priority here, but in the last year they have really let it go. I actually use the tools they leave in the open area to skim the whirlpool before I go in as theres usually a ton of hair and other stuff floating. Thats if its actually working. Several times I've gone and its not working. They won't tell you that something is broken when you check in. I've started checking before changing when I go alone for this reason as I don't want to pay $40 and not have full use of the facilities. Twice they have tried to not to refund my entrance fee. In addition they have unfinished ceilings in the mens dry sauna, the thermostat in the wet sauna often times doesn't work properly and either the room gets cool, or it never shuts off and everyone has to leave the room or keep the door cracked. In addition the mens side is not nearly as stocked and maintained as the womens side (my wife has shown me pics). The most recent change tho is why we won't be going back and will start going to Bay Spa or Kabuki... They now require men to wear swim trunks while in any area of the mens facility. No such restrictions on for women. So unless you're in the shower or getting a treatment you must be in shorts. If I wanted to wear shorts (and carry wet shorts home to wash) and deal with sub par facilities I could go to the sauna and whirlpool at my gym. I honestly think the only reason they still get any business is that they are the only spa in the east bay. Thats honestly the reason we've continued to go here. But at some point you just have to spend you money where your getting value. read more

What an incredible experience. You wouldn't think of this place on the outside. But once you walk in it's total transformation. So peaceful and serene..clean and well kept. I found this place on Yelp for my birthday. I wanted a spa day. Not gonna lie I enjoyed walking around naked, so if your self conscious this isn't the place for you. If your uncomfortable with someone scrubbing EVERY inch of your body, not the place for you. It is equipped with sauna, spa, and lockers. KO was my masseuse, she did a WONDERFUL and thorough job. I felt so relaxed. I got the PSY #3-$180(but I got it for $160 with a $80 deposit), which included massage,facial, milk treatment, body scrub, hair washing (I declined because I have locs, so they extend massage time). The women are so professional and experienced. My appointment was at 11am and didn't leave until 1:30pm and I enjoyed every minute! I definitely recommend this place to relax from everything! One of my fav spa spots in bay area, good location and the place pretty clean. I reserved the special package for 70 min and it costs 100 bucks including a scrub, massage, mask and milk bath. 30 min before treatment, you can go sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. So far,out of the bunch, their scrub treatment is the best. I can't reccomend the massage because for me it was too painful, and the lady cant speak english that much. There is a lounge place for hanging out and chating, but you need to ask and use their uniform. The lounge includes a salt room, stone room, and jade room, you should definately bring your own slippers because no slippers are included! read more

Heads up, if you are the modest type.. this is not the place for you. I was awkward at first and after awhile I started to feel comfortable. Scheduled a last min appt this morning and they were still able to squeeze in my friend and I at 12:30 on a Saturday afternoon. We wanted to treat ourselves after a long work week and went for the Pure Bliss package which includes scrub, mini facial, milk bath, 24k gold wrap and a seaweed wrap. Our masseuses pampered us for nearly 2 hours and even added a Collagen mask and shampoo treatment as a bonus for being first timers. I haven't felt this relaxed in a long time. My skin was is incredibly soft and glowy after the treatment. No more dry patches and even my elbows and feet are soft and smooth. We will absolutely be back! read more

A wonderful experience at a very nice and clean place. I had no idea of what the Korean Scrub treatment was about and am so glad I did. Started off with the jacuzzi bath that relaxed my tired muscles then, a dip in the cool pool. Shortly after, I was called for my 30 minute scrub treatment and an hour massage followed. Just when I thought I was done my sister showed me the different heated rooms! OMG! You must try these rooms that provide different healing benefits. They even have a place where you can meditate or practice yoga! If I didn't have an appointment, I could've stayed longer here for at least 3-4hrs! read more

I enjoy this place for what it is. Entry fee is a bit high ($30), but there isn't a Korean style spa within the Bay Area (except for this one within the City that is extremely small). In addition to the steam room, sauna room, scrub area, hot pool, and cold pool; which are all separated by sex, they also have a common area with 3 rooms - Himalayan Salt, Jade, and (forgot the other). They also offer scrubs, massages, facials, and other items within the package, and have a front desk area where you can purchase snacks, beverages, and sheet masks. A couple of months ago, I came in and ordered a package for scrub and massage (about $100). It was very nice, as the person who performed the service was through and exfoliated all my dead skin. The only thing is that, at least within the men's area, the scrub station is visible to the open area of the Men's portion of the spa amenities. Also, the massage ended up being on the same scrub area - I had wished they offered the option of getting it in the room. I feel like the place could be elevated with 1) towels within the respective locker rooms and 2) aromatherapy oils within the steam room. read more

I haven't been here in a long time. It seems like before there was a little more privacy offered in terms of not putting you in a open space with somebody laying down next to you completely naked. There should be some kind of screen or something in between clients so that you're not looking at a naked person that you don't know. Also, My scrubber I felt spent too much time on my breasts and in between my legs. I would've preferred that she spent more time on my feet and my hands which she almost ignored completely even when, through pointing as she understood little English. Also, I put a little towel in between my legs and she kept you almost removing it even when I protested. I didn't like that so I'm not sure if I'm going back. I made an appointment for a 90 minute deep tissue massage. That's $140. When it was time for my appointment, the lady came to get me and took me to one of the tables in the wet area, not to a massage table in a treatment room. I hadn't made an appointment for a scrub or an oil massage (the type of massage that takes place in the wet area). I went to the front desk and told the receptionist that I wanted a 90 minute deep tissue massage. She said "Aroma massage?" No, I want a 90 minute deep tissue massage. So, I got my 90 minute massage but it was the worst massage I've ever received in my life. It was not deep tissue at all. They used the original attendant - this is obviously not what they are trained for. I am so upset bc I have two young kids and have little time to myself. I have lots of tension that I needed relieved. I spent $140 plus a $28 tip for basically nothing. I really really really love Korean spas and was considering making this one my go to bc it is a little larger and less crowded than Imperial. After the terrible massage, plus the salt room not being operational, warm pool not being very warm and having gotten a robe not a uniform (others got one) and having to walk around the jijimbang around men in a thin robe that flapped open easily, I will not come back. This was my second time in about 10 years coming here and now I remember why I didn't return 10 years ago. I am just so mad that I wasted my precious time and money on this place. I should have said something, but I did not bother bc I figured I'd get the run around, they wouldn't understand me, or they'd pretend not to understand me. read more

Boy has this place gone downhill. I just went after not being there for a year or two. The sauna was barely warm, there was no limit to how long I could stay in there. Normally a sauna that is between 185 and 190 is perfect and I can only do about 15 minutes, my guess is they have theirs set around 150-160, but there is no thermostat to check of course. The cold dip is not cold at all, it's basically slightly colder than a lukewarm bath. The cost of entry is definitely not worth it any longer. At one point the entrance fee got you unlimited tea as well, but that is all gone. At one point there was a cafe, many years ago. I would guess they are going out of business with all of the cost cutting they are doing. They only give you one towel, which you need to sit on, then I guess they expect you to dry off with the same towel. Save your money and just go to a better sauna. Every single other sauna in the Bay Area is better than this one now, and this used to be my regular spot. read more

Came here for the first time the day after thanksgiving. I called ahead to see if they where open, and to my surprise they where and had availability for 2 people. It was my partners and I's first time at a Korean spa so we didn't know what to expect. Our experiences varied -- I enjoyed my scrub, massage, facial combo followed by taking turns going into the sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi. The scrub was my favorite part. I felt so nice and clean after and love that they use lots of hot/cold heat therapy throughout the process. The massage was ehh pretty much a combination of getting oiled down and getting some run downs mostly on my back and some feet. I wish she would've spent more time kneading the knots on my neck and shoulders. The facial was nice and I enjoyed that she let the product sit while she rubbed my back and then wiped it off with a warm towel. There's a separate area for men and women, since I went with my boyfriend we checked in and then split up. It was kind of nice to have some alone time to decompress. My better half visited one of these Korean massage spas in San Diego with a couple of her friends and she said we have to try this together. She found PSY Health Town on Yelp with some good ratings. We purchased the salt scrub, massage and spa usage. The inside has light wood paneling and spa ambiance, I swear like I was not in San Leandro but in Korea. So the spas are not coed, guys and gals so expect to see some naked bodies. Hence, gentlemen time to trim your toenails and suck in your beer gut. This was Sunday so there were probably 10 customers. Think back to junior high and high school when you were naked in gym class. In the men's area they have a jacuzzi bath, a mineral bath and two spas-dry and wet. I don't mind be naked so no big deal to me, if I was in Korea this would be typical scenario at the bath houses. After the spa session I had the salt scrub and massage with a Korean male masseuse. This was my first time for a salt scrub, so you are naked with just a small towel over your eyes so you don't get salt in them during the multiple rinse off periods. The reward is how smooth your skin feels after all that dead skin flaking off. The massage was good too, firm but not over-bearing like the painful chinese massage in Oakland Chinatown. The two sessions probably lasted 45 mins. Overall felt great. After the spa session, I visited the coed sauna rooms where you are giving a 2 piece outfit to wear beforehand, no naked bodies. There are three of them with different degrees of heat and are aromatic. So relaxing, I highly recommend this place. Bring your slippers if you don't want to be barefoot in the spa areas. The front desk lady was nice enough and explained the day. I loved the cleanliness of the locker room and the saunas and the hot tub would I also appreciate it was after my initial shower I was in the hot tub and the dry sauna alone. This helped relax me before my massage. The massage was in a room with others, but the masseuse made me feel comfortable, and could tell my nervousness. She did an amazing job; she checked on me. She insured that I would feel comfortable and she asked how I felt about each different part. She was great. My skin felt like butter and I was like a noodle- very relaxed and clean from head to toe! I came in a bout a week a go. I had the 100 dollar package. I ask the receptionist for clothes before I entered. They gave shorts and top to wear. I Went to the dressing room to put on the shorts on and the top and then I felt a little scratch on my arm and it was turning red, so I immediately took off the clothes and used a towel. So nice to be back! The workers wear a mask, patron have their mask for when they are passing by other patrons. Everyone kept their distance. I've always loved to get a scrub before covid and since the pandemic it was difficult for me to come get a scrub. It was such a nice treat to enjoy the facility! The workers are so nice too. My gold necklace was wrapped in a washcloth and I totally forgot all about it, tossed it in the linen basket and left. I frantically remember hours later and they told me they couldn't find it but the linens were being washed. Hours later they called me and told me they found it. My latest visit to PSY was less than stellar. The last time I went for service, I had spent time in the steam room, had an excellent scrub, and was escorted to a separate room for my massage; I would have also rated the service at a four because the hot tubs were inoperable. The hot tubs are an intricate part of the service of a spa? No? Still, it was a good service. This last time I went for service, the tubs were open, the steam was terrific, and so was the scrub. Now, I am ready for my massage: I am directed to prep in the shower for my massage and was directed back to the same table where I got my scrub, in the blaring light with the same woman. Huh? Maybe this is a mistake, I thought...No; she had wiped off the table and directed me back to the same spot. I want to communicate with her and ask when we are going to the room with the soft lighting and gentle music. She does not understand what I am saying, and my clothes are in the locker! She gave me a massage on the same table, with blaring lights, and started to talk to other operators during my massage. This experience disrupted the entire relaxing, recuperative experience. Upon leaving, I spoke to the woman at the front desk to lodge my displeasure with my service, and all she had to offer was that the woman should not have been talking during my service, not that the massage should have taken place in another room. One if the worst experiences ever. They have this huge menu offering all these services so I picked the pay service for $160 for 100 minute which clearly states all treatments in one. Other than a massage and a fast body scrub nothing else was done and when I tried to explain to the lady, she acted like she didn't speak English, that's not all. So I go to get the body scrub and it's in an open are with no privacy and next to me is this huge hairy naked dude getting a body scrub, why the hell would I want to see someone else's junk when I'm just trying to relax, there's more, to get the scrub, this old naked dude shows up, once again I'm trying to relax and now I have this old dude with hua junk walking around the table as I'm laying down. I absolutely loved my experience at this place. Everything was AMAZING (the scrub, the massage, the environment, etc). Very well kept and clean inside. I loved the ambiance in the different steam rooms. You have to be aware that everything is done NAKED, but once you get over that, you'll feel like a new person.
