Camille is a great property manager, she's very helpful. I came in to find storage where I was shown a variety of spaces and all the information needed to make my decision. I will be deploying in a month and i'm looking at different storage companies. This is definitely the company I'll be using due to the cleanliness of the area along with the the effort and warmth received even though I wasn't looking for immediate storage. Stay away from this place. They just are a scam and take your money. We moved out of the storage and called to cancel before the move. We were assured that they would cancel and prorate us for days we use the storage unit. We moved out on the 2nd and they still charged us for the entire month! After several calls to customer service and even after all customer representatives acting surprised we were charged, we have yet to receive a refund. The district manager probably is a fictional character because he has yet to call us back and it's been 20 days of leaving voicemails to him. NEVER AGAIN. Nice building staff, but the area manager is dreadful, and I've heard so many complaints about their accounting practices from other tenants. This is the absolute WORST storage facility in Stevens/Solana Beach area. I have one here at Public Storage, 200sf on 1st floor with 2 doors. DARK even in the daytime - no unit lighting at all !! I have to use a flashlight and a lantern - in the 21st Century !! And Public is the most expensive unit of the 3 that I rent in Stevens/Solana Beach area. I have a storage unit also at Smart on W Stevens, and at Price on W Stevens, which are superior by far and less expensive for same size and access, with minor difference in evening availability - and plenty of unit lighting. Learn from my huge mistake in my first selection of a storage facility in Solana Beach. Drive around the corner to W Stevens. Also, think long and hard about renting a storage unit - why? - because the next thing you realize is the years fly by and you've triple paid for everything in your storage unit at $4000.+ per year !! read more

I have rented five or six times over the last seven years at Stevens Ave. Public Storage. I have found this facility to be excellent. The facility is clean, well maintained, secure, and easy to navigate with no surprises. The staff has always been, professional, helpful, and friendly. Juana the manager has been there for several years and has always been very enjoyable to work with. Based on my consistently good experiences at the Stevens Avenue location, I would not hesitate to check with Public Storage first if I would ever need to rent at another location. Customers should know that Public Storage does require renters insurance with the storage facility address listed as an insured location. You can either buy insurance there, or arrange for it with your homeowners insurance. Last time I priced rental coverage with my homeowners insurance, it saved me $5.00 dollars over the insurance sold at Public Storage for a short-term rental. I just bought the public storage insurance, because I did not want to spend a 1/2 hour more on the phone with my insurance agency answering policy questions. For longer term rentals, you may be able to save more money by adding the rental location to your home owners policy. You will also need a Public Storage approved lock. One of their approved locks is a round shielded shackle padlock. They sell them for $15 on Amazon. I bought mine at Public Storage years ago, and don't remember what I paid for it. I think it was within a couple dollars of the Amazon price though. [Update] Actually, I just look on the PS website and saw that their locks are a couple bucks cheaper than Amazon! It is also very easy to reserve units online. I have done this almost every time I have rented with them. They have a variety of incentives on various sizes of storage lockers. Do the math and you can find which incentive works best for your anticipated rental term. While I have not rented with any other company, over the years I have occasionally shopped the competition, and also have gone with friends to their storage rental facilities. I have never come across another company that offers more value than Public Storage. I do not hesitate to recommend Public Storage. For my needs their combination of location, facilities, and price is unbeatable. read more

It's very easy to get into my storage unit and love that there's parking next to the units. Love the hours as well. I found a great deal online and it's exactly what I reserved. Purchased some boxes from Eric, who was very nice and told me that I could return anything that was unused. My house didn't sell as fast as I had hoped, and 45 days later I finally started packing. I went to the store during business hours, only to find that the office was closed and wouldn't be opened for two hours. Later I called, and nobody picked up. I visited again, only to find the door locked. When I was finally able to get in I was told that I couldn't exchange a still-strapped-together, unused set of 10 large boxes for 10 small boxes because they have a 30-day return policy (but nothing stated about exchanges). I left phone messages for Andrew, the district manager, whose vm message says that he will return calls within 24-hrs. I made three calls in 48 hours and he never called me back. Instead, he had Eric call to tell me he was too busy. After hearing my complaint, I was told I could exchange the boxes - I wouldn't get any money back, even though the 10 large boxes were certainly more expensive than 10 small ones. I wouldn't recommend buying from here unless you absolutely know exactly what you need and are positive you won't need to make a return after 39 days. read more

I called a location near Carlsbad, CA and they looked up the "best deal" in area and sent me to this location. Juana was VERY helpful! We were able to rent her last auto space to store my son's car, showed us where it was and helped us all through the process. read more

Pros: Juana the manager is extremely friendly and helpful. Actually, all the people who work there are helpful. The facility is decent..nothing fancy, nothing too negative. Cons: Public Storage is an evil corporation. They will punish you for being a loyal customer. The whole business model is built upon bait and switch. It doesn't matter what rate you pay for a unit, in a year it will go up 10%, and the next year, another 10%, and so on. Even if you can rent a unit as a new customer for less. I've been a customer for 5 yrs, and I know...you either have to keep switching units, using somebody else's ID (cuz they won't rent the same size unit to you for a new customer price), or suck it up...or move facilities. There is a terrific business opportunity for other storage units to offer a "move you from Public Storage to us" optional $$ fee, because it's worth the one time pain and cost of moving in order to not have to pay for 12+ months of upgraded costs. Public Storage is great for less than 12 months of storage. If you need long term storage, look elsewhere...you've been warned. read more

I have had my storage unit for a number of years. I have nothing but good things to say about Juana, but there is a real problem with corporate which will not lift a finger to remedy issues that need to be addressed. For years birds have been getting into my building where my unit is. There is bird crap on the floor and I had it in my unit recently. There is a birds nest in an upper corner inside my building. I have complained about this and nothing is ever done to prevent the birds coming into the building. Corporate will not address the issue. There is mold growing on the skylights in my building. I have now complained about this. I left a voice mail with the regional vice president, Bryan Paganetti, but of course haven't heard back from him. I now get to pay $255.00 a month for bird shit and mold. I have ENTRUSTED Public Storage to protect and safeguard my belongings and I pay a lot of money for the service, yet I can get nowhere with corporate to do the right thing. read more

Office staff were really friendly and helpful. When I had to change locker sizes not once but twice, they didn't give me any problems about it nor charge extra. The facility is clean and organized and easy to access. My only real complaint is that they require purchasing some surprisingly expensive yet low-value insurance on the contents of the storage unit unless you can show that you have other insurance -- the price and the fact that it's mandatory makes this look less like a valuable service and more like a scam to charge extra. Also, opening a locker requires a HUGE amount of paperwork, which should be streamlined dramatically. Still, overall a good experience. read more

Go somewhere else!!! Incompetent staff who use classic bait and switch techniques to lock in customers. Broken key pads, doors, dirty units, you name it, are par for the course. The on-site staff are nice, but seem to lack any ability to handle non-routine situations. Complaints to corporate went unacknowledged-Andrew the corporate customer service representative was the worst representative I have dealt with across any industry. Go next door where prices are cheaper, they have staff who know their jobs, and value their customers. read more
