Buyer beware. The information on their website is misleading as it only applies to the San Francisco branch. The San Diego an LA branches had their CPUC license revoked and does not hold proper insurance for transporting household goods. Oh, and the A+ BBB rating advertised on their website is also for their San Francisco branch. The San Diego and LA branch score a D-. I had actually booked this company before I investigated further. When I discovered they didn't have a valid CPUC license I emailed to inquire why and got radio silence. Then I attempted to cancel (with a full weeks notice) and got no response. 24 hours before the originally scheduled move I finally got a text from the driver and had to tell them not to come. read more

The company they hired to do the actual move did a great job with the pick up and a very late job on delivery. The guy was borderline rude and the helpers dropped some of my furniture which was damaged. I found multiple shoe prints on the tops of my bins and lids were cracked. I lost 4 dishes, 1 lamp, and have multiple gauges in my nightstands. Overall the main thing is that they were late from what they had told me when I signed up and it was also Different than what was presented. The original salesperson said they were not a broker but they did contract out my job to Y&O. I was told to reach out to Route 66 For assistance which I did by phone and email and never received a reply. One last point is that my email, phone number, pick up and delivery address were exposed to some hacker/breach and a scammer used the data to call me to try to get me to pay for my pick up 2 days before the pick up. I refused and alerted Route 66. The dispatcher said that the data base had been compromised and she was glad I had not paid the guy. Me too but seriously poor security with a lot of personal information about me and no notification that this occurred even though clearly it was known by Route 66 staff. So I really do t recommend them. I wanted it to be a great experience but it wasn't. If my have to move again I will rent a truck, hire movers to load and unload under my supervision and I will drive it myself. Or I will find a company that really is a living company so I'm not the effect of a bad job of subcontracting or whatever seems to have occurred on my cycle. I give them 2 stars because the pick up was good and the automated email they send that tells you to pay the pick up driver saved me from being scammed even though their data base was breached. read more

It has been 26 days since my stuff was picked from my old house, and I still haven't received it!! We booked the services of Route 66 for a long distance move (From DC to Seattle), and I have to say I have not had such a horrific experience with any other service provider. We were offered a very competitive quote initially, and were promised super easy, hassle-free move. They have not lived up to any of the promises they made - They came 3 hours later than promised - we paid extra for packing, and they sent 2 people to pack an entire house. The two guys who came, were very sweet and probably did a good job - but it took them forever. After they loaded the truck, they said the quote was now nearly $1000 more! This is despite us going through and describing every item we wanted moved. - we were promised delivery in 5 to 10 days from the date the stuff was picked up. It has been 26 days today, and I still don't have the delivery - They hardly even answer phone calls, and when they do - every person gives a completely different story and timeline. For the last 3 weekends, I have been promised delivery, and I have had to cancel everything for that day and wait for the truck to come, but it never showed. They are not even apologetic for being so unprofessional, non-communicative and inconsistent. Please spare yourself the stress and ambiguity and DO NOT BOOK these movers, even if you have to pay a lot more to someone else. read more

This company did over $20,000 worth of damage. Every wood item was either scratched badly or broken completely. They lost a heirloom oriental rug. The packers come get your stuff. Then they take it to their warehouse in Miami where they do not keep households separated. We got a lot of items that were not ours. They tried to get us to take those items anyway. One box of china, after asking for them to please be careful, he looked directly at me and dropped the box. Many things that cannot be replaced, I'm sure, went to other customers. After loading the truck, saying they needed more money, while my husband was talking to their office, they stole our stuff by just driving away and not waiting for the outcome of the call. In all, we were asked three times for more money. After haggling with them for over a year, they offered $85 in damages. I laughed. They sent several other offers, by e-Mail, but could not open what they sent. Then they completely stopped responding. Please, if you value your household items, RUN!! read more

Update: After both my husband and I put reviews on Yelp they finally called my husband back (previous calls and emails were unanswered) and offered us a $700 refund which we accepted. We didn't know it at the time of the refund but discovered upon surveying all of the items in our storage space that one of the legs on our designer sofa is broken, not repairable. I am now looking for a place that will accept a broken sofa as a donation. I don't know what else I'll find when I explore further. read more

Hired Route 66 moving and storage for a move from South Orange County Ca to South Central Missouri. Was lied to from the beginning. I was told by "Julian Johnson" (my Representative) they were NOT a broker, they were, my estimate more than doubled. Whole different company showed up. "Star" moving and storage out of LA. Loaded my belongings and then the paperwork. Estimate was $3,200. ended up $6,800. Truck loaded and a plane to catch the next day I didn't have much of a choice... remember an estimate doesn't mean anything! read more

Recently moved from Washington to Texas and the pick Pick up of the items went pretty smoothly. But upon delivery in Texas the items were held hostage until we forked over more money than the original agreed upon amount that on top of them being 30 minutes late! And wanting to be paid in full before they even let us see the items. That paired with the fact that the driver was threatening my Grandmother who is well into her sixties in front of my three-year-old son yelling .... And then after we went ahead and paid him the extra money because we just figured that it was not worth dealing with the threats . They unloaded several boxes and just put them in random rooms even after we told them that the boxes were clearly labeled and they needed to go somewhere else they told us originally they were just putting stuff in the open areas and after they put the beds up they would put everything where it is supposed to go. Well before they even got all the items inside the house the original man who is a yelling at my grandmother decides to come in and just start screaming at everyone to put everything down and informed all of the workers that they were leaving right this minute and to not continue to put things in the bedrooms or even inside of the house..... I will say that the individual workers that we dealt with were amazing people and were nothing but polite but the boss was a horrible person and I hope to never do business with him again. read more
