The cocktails were well-crafted, and our meal started on a high note with perfectly cooked calamari served alongside a flavorful chili sauce. Unfortunately, the quality declined significantly after the appetizer. The seafood risotto arrived lukewarm and undercooked, with rubbery, inedible scallops--one of which I had to discreetly spit out due to its texture. The chicken Kyiv, while expected to contain a buttery filling, released an excessive amount of oil that saturated the mashed potatoes, which were cold to begin with. The salmon avocado croissant featured visibly brown avocado, making it unappetizing. We weren't alone in our experience--another table also voiced concerns about the seafood risotto. A woman who appeared to be the owner and even the chef did approach us, which we appreciated, but the conversation was strained due to a slight language barrier. Her response felt more defensive than constructive, saying, "Well, you don't know chicken Kyiv or how it's made," rather than trying to address the concern thoughtfully. To the restaurant's credit, we were not charged for the entrées, but we did pay for the rest of the meal. At the current price point, the food and service need to match the aesthetic and ambition of the space. While we are tourists, we've dined across the U.S. and abroad--and we know when something is off. Additionally we have been here to Laguna several times. We genuinely hope the restaurant is able to refine its execution and approach to customer service. As it stands, we left feeling dismissed and still hungry. Tucked into the beautifully revived building that used to house Red Dragon and Mosun, the space feels fresh and welcoming--light, elegant, and genuinely comfortable after some thoughtful upgrades. Kevin looked after us all evening and made us feel right at home. My husband's lamb chops were cooked perfectly, with the vegetables and potatoes alongside just as good. My salmon was moist, flavorful, and nicely balanced--simple but spot-on. The live violinist added such a nice touch without ever feeling overdone. We had never been to Q Terrace but saw it on social media and wanted to check it out. Kevin gave us a background on the restaurant with made us appreciate the restaurant even more. Kevin was sweet to serve us a dessert on the house along with a drink that paired so well with our tiramisu dessert. I ordered the grilled salmon and my boyfriend ordered the filet migon. We had a reservation to celebrate Orthodox Christmas with friends. Upon arrival, there was an extremely loud wedding taking place upstairs. The music was so loud we could barely talk, and children started crying. We informed the manager, but no action was taken and no alternative or apology was offered. Checked out this new spot in Laguna and it's honestly a gem. The interior is beautiful sleek, modern, and you can tell a lot of thought went into the design. But what really made the experience stand out was Leo behind the bar. Leo's one of those rare bartenders who just makes you feel welcome without trying too hard, and the drinks? Spot on. Balanced, clean, and exactly what you didn't know you wanted. You can tell he actually takes pride in the craft. The food was just as impressive fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with intention. We had dinner here with a reservation. They would not seat my husband until I was there, which was a bit offputting, since we had a reservation, but ok...I was parking the car. We got a seat with water view upstairs as requested, but it was a chilly night and they had no patio heaters, which seemed odd to be missing those at this type/level of restaurant. Seating was super uncomfortable upstairs - chairs are way too deep, so you can't sit back and relax- no bolster pillows in back to assist. Even bar stools are so big that you put your purse behind you and still can't lean back and no hooks under bar to hang purse from. Chairs downstairs were of a different style and may be more comfortable? Very clean and modern - has an elevator to second story, note that ground floor has no water views, upstairs views are not full water view, but partial and are great for sunsets. I am sure on a clear day the place is packed upstairs. Bathroom was very clean and classy. Bar upstairs needs more bottle glam - downstairs bar is much more tripped out behind the bar. Staff: was friendly but "green" - I didn't get a sense of them really knowing what they were doing - lots of chatter among each other. "That wasn't me, I didn't enter it in like that", "taste this drink- what do you think" and the waiters all trying it before tossing it, waiter asking if a dirty martini is made with vodka or gin...bartender said "either, what do they want?" which is true, but he acted like she should know which one and continued to question her. All this was happening at the bar, where quite a few customers can hear what they are saying and see what is going on. I felt bad for bartender. Drinks: Our cocktails were excellent - great taste, attractive presentation! Wish we had time for a second round, they were THAT good. Food- Hmmm, this is where the meh continued for us....Food came out in different order than we requested - which in turn resulted in one of the hot dishes, chicken kyiv, being served luke warm - which really didn't taste good, it needed to be hot. The caprese salad - they appear to be using just boring store bought looking hot house tomatoes - you gotta use tasty heirloom, or forget it - and use more balsamic glaze. Calamari - eh, just ok - the chili sauce kinda tasted like it was out of jar. Odd plates for both those items that make it easy to have your food drop on the table. Borsch soup - nice size portion, but again, just so-so. Plating was attractive. Overall: It was kind of a let down for a 4.4 yelp review. Prices are not cheap, food just ok, atmosphere had some serious comfort issues, and the staff could use a few lessons on keeping it to themselves, or at the very least, lowering your voice when questioning co-workers. I would go back for just drinks, bring a pillow for my chair and a sweater. read more

The upstairs and downstairs areas were beautifully decorated and done just right. The drinks were great and made by the bartender Lisa who is awesome! Just tried this new restaurant. Beautiful setting. It was a nice night so we dined on the upstairs terrace I was concerned because it wasn't crowded but it was a weekday night. We shared the fried calamari in sweet chile sauce and the humus with home made pita. Both were very good. Everyone at the table except me had the sea bass. I had the seafood risotto which was very good. The wine list was reasonably priced. Didn't want a big desert so we all shared a chocolate lava cake. Overall a very good meal and surprisingly reasonably priced. They need to do something to get the word out. Definitely worth a try.
