I genuinely don't understand how a place with so much potential can have such unbelievably poor customer service. We visited Qawah Valley from California during the FIFA games specifically because they advertised that they would be streaming the matches. When we arrived, we asked if they could put the game on, and the young employee working the cashier (who appeared to be a high school or college student) abruptly told us, "No," with no explanation or effort to help. Instead, we ended up watching the game on our phones despite choosing this place because of their advertised promotion. Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of it. When ordering a savory item, I politely asked what type of meat it contained. The same employee responded, "It's meat." Thinking he misunderstood, I clarified by asking whether it was chicken or beef. Instead of answering the question, he repeatedly and condescendingly kept saying, "It's meat." It was such a bizarre and dismissive interaction over a very basic question that any customer has a right to ask. What was worse was that the item turned out to be stale, cold and chewy! Customer service can make or break a business, especially in New York City where people have endless options. If you're going to hire inexperienced employees, then invest the time to properly train them on basic professionalism, courtesy, and product knowledge. They're the face of your business, and your revenue depends on how customers are treated. If they're unable or unwilling to provide even the most basic level of hospitality, then it's worth investing in better hires. It's a shame because Qawah Valley is a beautiful, spacious café in an incredible NYC location. They've invested a ridiculous amount on the real estate of this location but a nice space means very little when it's paired with some of the worst customer service I've experienced. I won't be returning, and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a welcoming café experience. read more

The adeni chai pot is delicious and perfect to share with one or a few people. My friend and I shared a pot and it was easy to share with equal amounts for both of us. The space inside is large with lots of tables and outlets and free WiFi to work. I've also tried their pistachio latte which wasn't my favorite. I've been to both locations of Qahwah Valley & albeit I like the one in Queens more, I love both of them. Qisher is my go-to coffee but the adeni chai will always remain a favorite for me as well. Do keep in mind that this location is quite small & can get quite noisy with NYU kids chatting on FT on speaker with their friends (sorry just speaking the truth) so plan accordingly if you're looking for a quiet study spot. read more

I tested this spot out to study and it was great! Lots of seating, great WiFi, and a restroom. I had the iced caramel macchiato, which was amazing! They made it to-go, and the layers were perfection. However, at $11, it's definitely the most expensive coffee I've had in NYC and will have to be an "every once in a while" treat. read more

Wonderful Yemeni cafe in the Manhattan/Murray Hill area. The staff is quite friendly, and if you are unfamiliar with some of the items, they will even offer suggestions. There is also free Wi-Fi! I got to try the basbusa cake and the Adeni chai. The chai was amazing. It is hard to describe what I liked so much about it, but it's definitely up there as one of my favorite variations of chai. Not too sweet, not too spicy, just perfect. A nice sort of silkiness to it without it heavy. Would highly recommend it, and the portion is fantastic! The glasses they have are marvelous too. The basbusa cake was pretty good as well, although I would probably try something else next time I am there. It was like a cheesecake-type item sandwiches between 2 classic basbusa pieces. Surprisingly, not overly sweet. But, it had a tad of that refrigerator flavor to it. Still, very good and a cool concept. The inside is also just so pretty. Came in here since I was doing some errands around the area. I got their white chocolate mocha and baklava. Both were amazing! 5/5 for both of them. The white chocolate mocha had just the right amount of sweetness. Their baklava was so fresh and I would so get it again. Service- it was alright. Once you order in- they give you a buzzer and you're able to get your coffee and pastry yourself. Ambience- wow this place is amazing! It's so pretty and well put together. This cafe is perfect to work / study. They also have seats outside so you can enjoy the breeze while sipping. Overall- would definitely come back here when I'm in the area. This is one of the many Arabic coffee (or qahwah) and tea (or chai/shai) shops popping up all over the city. As per most of the other, this spot is Yemeni with this one being of the fancier ones if not the fanciest especially in terms of price point with the closest one in comparison being the excellent Haraz on the Soho/Village border. The inside is very well designed and I could imagine sitting here on the weekend with a pot of chai (or shai as they spell) and working. In terms of traditional drinks, they have Mofawar, Sanani (or San'ani,) Qishir, Adeni Shai, Traditional Tea, and Arabian Coffee. Outside of coffee, they have the usual Arabic pastries along with a couple extra ones such as one of my personal favorites; ma'moul; which is a shortbread cookie filled with nuts or dates. Of course, they also went with the Dubai chocolate trend along with other things and they have some other stuff. I ordered an Adeni Shai (which apparently is the Arabic spelling for chai which makes sense) which is listed as black tea, evaporated milk, and spice mix and they gave quite a big cup. It's normally $6 for a small or $7 for a large with it also costing $1 extra for iced so overall, it was $8.60 or so which is quite expensive but for the quality, I partially don't mind. There's very light ice, it has a distinct good cardamom/clove flavor along with another lighter spice without any of them being overpowering, and the drink was very lightly sweetened. To be honest, with the light sweetness, I'd likely get the traditional tea as it's a buck less but the bit of evaporated milk works here. The tea here was quite pricey even by Arabic coffee house standards but it's much better quality than most places. I won't stop in here too often due to price point but I'd definitely come back and try their mofawar or qishir next time. I'll bump the rating down if the coffee isn't as good quality next time but for now, it matches Haraz and the best spots. read more

Stumbled upon this cafe early in the morning one weekend- I was blown away by the beautiful and ornate interior, just so much detail. We've never had Yemeni coffee before, and the barista was very kind and patient with us. In the end we got the mofawar, which was fragrant with spices and so delicious. We also shared a Yemeni semolina cake called basbousa- it went perfectly with the coffee. The pastries/cakes are also a feast for the eyes- many were topped with vibrant green pistachios and looked so so good! read more

The drink offerings ranged from your average coffee to more specialty offerings like sahlep, mofawar, and teas. The bakery options also ranged from a chocolate cake slice to various varieties of baklava and other middle eastern/yemeni desserts. Qahwah Valley is a wonderful new coffeeshop in Murray Hill serving Yemeni coffee. (It isn't related to the Qahwah House in Brooklyn.) I love that it is so spacious and open late. So easy to choose for a meeting spot or hangout or to get some work done. I've tried their Spanish latte, hibiscus tea, and Dubai chocolate, and would recommend all. The hibiscus tea had a slightly sour taste, which I really liked but my friend wasn't the biggest fan. The baristas here are all very friendly as well. What a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. We had been eagerly waiting for it to open since the day we saw the sign go up. Let's say it was totally worth the wait. It is a beautiful space and the staff is incredibly friendly. So far we have tried their coffee, Adeni Shai, Mini pizza, Tres leches and chocolate mousse cake. Every single thing has been delicious 5/5. I highly recommend the Tres Leches if you are confused by the amazing variety of desserts. Qahwah Valley is a great new addition to the neighborhood and a standout from other coffee bars nearby. They have US style coffee and pastries but the best offerings are the Yemeni pastries and coffee. I had a "multi grain Baklava" which was covered in nuts (and outstanding) and Sana'ani which was a spiced medium roast coffee. It was a new experience for me and delicious. Orders are served charmingly on small wooden trays you carry back to your table. The atmosphere is elegant and bright and very clean, and like a true coffee bar no one rushes you out the door. This is such a wonderful place to try different pastries and coffee. I asked the person taking my order which coffee they were known for, and he said Mofowar coffee. It was strong and delicious. The service and the cafe itself deserves 5/5. It's a fantastic place with two restrooms, wifi, comfortable and spacious seating with tables (or countertop if you prefer). Very clean. I would come again to try something new, as in my first visit, I didn't particularly liked anything. I DO recommend the Dubai Chocolate Bar; amazing 5/5 and best I've tasted. I enjoyed their Sahlep, which is a sleepy porridge (very potent imo). Each cake slice is probably best enjoyed between 2+ people. I found the Dubai Chocolate Cake to be extremely rich to my taste. The Honeycomb pastry is very large, but balances well between plain bread and sweet honey, and something else within the bread; but I maintain my stance that the bread was pretty plain. This review is based on my experiences in January 2025, the last time I went. I went a few times when it first opened and the Mofawar and Adeni Shai were both incredible. Yes, it's a bit more expensive than other coffee shops but when the coffee and tea are good, it's very much worth it. I went a few more times around December and January and found that the adeni shai was incredibly weak and the Mofawar didn't taste good either. I don't usually complain about bad coffee but for the high prices, it's extremely disappointing. I tried some pastries and they ranged from ok to pretty good. I also tried the sabaya, which takes slightly more preparation behind the counter than the other pastries (they drizzle honey on it) and I found a HAIR in it. I gave them one last chance in January and purchased a coffee and once again there was a hair, thankfully this time it was only on the lid and not in the coffee itself, but it gave me no comfort knowing there was nothing in place to prevent it from ending up in my food or coffee. Please, please start wearing hairnets. And give the tea enough time to steep. read more
