I got him a cut and bath through a walk-in appointment and it was such a wonderful experience. My dog, Charlie, has some problems with being groomed but he seemed completely at ease here. This is a small family owned business. The couple that owns this place are always so good to my pups. One of my dogs actually had some fungus growing in her ear, and we didn't realize it. She let us know after her grooming appointment, and guided us on what to buy for treatment on amazon. She wasn't trying to sell us anything or make money on us with this, she simply wanted what was best for our fur baby. So glad I found this place via yelp! It was a little further from home than I wanted to go, but well worth the drive. Our usual groomer is no longer with the company I've been taking my two dogs to for the past five years. Since she left, the service just hasn't been the same. Maria, the owner of Q d Doggie, was very patient and pleasant when answering my initial questions over the phone. I was so happy she was able to get my dogs in the same day I called. I am all about supporting small businesses. Sadly this business owner is clearly not that interested in attracting and keeping clients. Yelp stated they are opened until 5 Pm vs their door states they close at 4. I showed up at 3:45 for a walk in to clip the nails for 2 dogs and to my surprise they were closed. Family owned grooming business. They were flexible with timing and we were able to get in the same week I called. My dog is a 7 month old puppy about 35 lbs. They cleaned her up real nice and she smells good. They definitely did everything they said they would do, anal glands, ears, and nails. They charged us $90 which was $10 cheaper than another highly rated groomer in Irvine. However, they said next time it would be $120 because she is a goldendoodle... Unfortunately most groomers feel like they can charge more for new clients - still on the search for a groomer that is good and reasonably priced. It seems I won't get both unless I go to PetSmart. Thank goodness for Yelp! I would never have found this absolute gem of a grooming salon, tucked away in a small quiet plaza in Lake Forest. Maria and her husband are hands down the BEST standard poodle groomers in the OC. If you really want to find a good groomer, just ask standard poodle owners! My little girl loves the place and is always so happy after grooming. They let her wander around the shop instead of shutting her in a crate for hours. Her paws are always perfectly shaved, her nails are dremeled and filed to smooth round tips, and she always comes out looking like an enormous cotton ball. Yes!! Most importantly, the prices are extremely reasonable! Only $60 for a bath and trim, that's cheaper than Petco with 20x the quality. I've seen other high maintenance breeds here, including a perfectly rounded pomeranian that was cuter than Boo! If it hadn't moved I would've thought it was a stuffed animal. So the track record is proven. Highly recommend bringing your high maintenance breeds here!! read more

These folks recently relocated from Corona del Mar where they had been in business for several years. Maria took in my little Chihuahua at 3pm and he came back to me looking great at 4:30pm... right on time. It was his first visit to Q d Doggie and I'll be sure to bring him back. I have been taking our puppy to Q d for grooming and I am very happy with the service. I can book an appointment easily. I love that the dogs aren't caged and they can roam freely. They are reasonably priced, I have a 20lb dog and I pay about $45 a visit. She comes home smelling and looking great. She's a shabby mutt anyway but they make her look so pretty. So awesome. The owners were so sweet. Brought in my friends golden doodle.. she was covered in mats. My friend didn't want her shaved so they hooked her up and got all her mats out and got her hair cut. She didn't look like the same dog. She was so pretty. Her hair looks poofy because they washed and blow dried it but it will go back when her natural oil comes back. I also loved when i came back to get the dog she was just laying in the shop with them while they were cutting other dogs. I thought that was so sweet of them to be so kind to her to let her lay around with no leash. Highly recommend. They also do my inlaws Alaskan malamute he's a giant and they do an amazing job getting his mats out. read more

I've always been able to get a reasonable appointment, even on short notice. They've always finished on time (or a bit early) and I get exactly what I asked for. I have been taking my dog to QD for over a year. Their prices have gone up ridiculously, but they've always done a nice job, so I continued to go. I went there yesterday ( 8.29.19 ), as I had a scheduled 1:00 appointment. Normally, my dog is there about an hour and a half ( he's 14 lbs. so.... ). At 4:00, I still hadn't heard from them, as they always call when he's ready to be picked up. I called them and they said about 20 more minutes. Hey, no problem, things get busy, I get it, no bigge.... So I end up picking him up at about 5:00. He looked good, but it didn't look like they cut his hair short enough, and I mentioned it. The man there got a bit defensive. He said they used the same # blade they always use. He went so far as to go and get the actual blade it self to show me. I told him, that it wasn't that I didn't believe him, it just wasn't short enough. He then says to me, " well, next time ".... I said back, " well I'm paying for it this time...." So I paid the 65.00 and left. As I was sitting in my car I was mad. I'm thinking, "My dog has been here for 4 HOURS and the hair is to long, not cool..." So I went back in and asked this same man if I could bring him back the next day to shorten it up. He FREAKED out. He said " Sure, bring him back , I'll shave him"...then he stormed back into the store and started speaking angrily to some guy standing back there in Spanish. Then he comes roaring back up to the front again saying the same thing, " yeah, yeah, bring him back tomorrow, I'll shave him, no problem", with a raging attitude.... I began to rebuttal, but figured that would be useless at this point, this man was angry!! Needless to say, I didn't bring the dog back, no will I ever. It is unfortunate, but this guy was, not only angry, but really had a threatening tone to his voice that not only disturbed me, but made me wonder how they are treating the animals when the owens aren't around.... go some where else!!!! read more

Took my dog here for the first time recently and they did a good job on his overall cut and nail trim. Reason for four stars is asked the groomer to give my dog a short cut all around as his fur grows fast. She asked if I would like to leave his face long and I said no, to cut short. When I went to pick him up his face was left long, but I didn't make a fuss about it as there was a several people in line to drop off / pick up their dog and it was something I could do at home. Not a big deal. The groom was also a little pricey, Paid 65. There are other groomers I would prefer at that price point, but with covid-19, a lot of them were closed at the time. Not my go to groomer, but would take my dog again if my normal groomer was not available. read more

I needed a local groomer for my mini chow mix fur baby. A neighbor told me she found Qd Doggie was highly recommended on Nextdoor. She tried it and had a good experience so told me about it. My regular groomer is in Newport and was booked out a month. My chow mix could wait no longer so I thought I'd give them a try. Qd got me in within a week. The day of the grooming we had Maria and Tony who were a great team! I am super happy with the way they handled my dog and it was clear they were also great with the other dogs there too. Finally on the hottest day of the year my girlie has her lion cut back. Maria was fast with the bath and dry and very sweet with my fur baby who needs that extra reassurance sometimes. Tony is fast and detail oriented with the cut. They were really good with "over protective" me, too. I will be retuning. read more

This was my go to groomer for a while. I was always happy with the job they did and my dog was happy to go here. However after about 4-5 visits my dog started panicking when she came here, refusing to even walk in the door. Something just felt off. I tried to bring her a couple more times and every time dropping her off got worse and worse- I couldn't bare it anymore so I found a new groomer. She's been going to this new groomer for almost a year and a half now and is always so happy to go in there, happily following the groomer into the back room. I'm not sure what was going on when I left my dog at QD but I trust my pups judgement and certainly couldn't ignore the signs she was giving me that she was uncomfortable there. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because they did do a good job grooming wise but I'm not sure what was going on that made my pup feel uncomfortable. read more

I have had some BAD experiences with other groomers. My dog is rather timid and submissive, but he doesn't like his feet trimmed. He won't bite, but he does pull them away if he can. He does it to me when I groom him at home too. He especially hates toenail clipping. I started taking him to QD and he looks amazing when I pick him up. And he isn't quivering and crying like he was at the previous groomer's place. I asked how he did and the owner said he doesn't like his feet done, but it was no problem. They said he did great with them. I like the cut they give and I really like that my dog isn't an emotional mess when I pick him up. The cut has been consistent and very cute and I can highly recommend taking your dog here. read more

I give them 1 star because I like the cut. I don't give them the other 4 because my dog hates them and that's all that matters. Price is reasonable but not for the service that they provide. They're not trained to treat your dog right! The Mexican guy washes the dog like he's washing dishes. If you don't like dogs this is not the job for u. The lady who took my dog just pulled on my dog's leash and took her to the back not saying any thing or trying to calm my dog first, or to make my dog get comfortable with her! My dog was frightened when I went there to pick her up. If you're looking for a place where ppl treat your beloved dog like a bag of potatoes then this is the place, if not take your dog somewhere else. read more

I must say that I was bringing my ShihTzu to Q d Doggie for a few times perhaps 4 times if not 5 in the last year. With good service and the cuts where just about right with a few misunderstandings where they cut his bangs when I asked them not to. They have always been available to take him when I call in and they have been great. Which makes this a hard review to write as today i'm extremely dissatisfied on the customer service level that I experienced today. I called this morning and was told they can take my dog at 2:30. After scheduling my own appointments for around this time frame I took my dog in at 2:30. The owner had just been bitten by another dog so she was still trying to take care of that but told me that she was to busy to take my dog and if i could bring him back Monday. Then she asked if I had been in there before. Did she not pulled his card this morning and put us in the book? And for them not to really remember their clients was a little daunting. Just another number I suppose in this busy world. Needless to say I probably will take him back to the old groomer but I did have to cancel my iown hair and nail appts as I had to take my dog home after waiting around till 2:30 to take him in. My dog is a husky who HATES getting his nails trimmed. I took him here after calling and they were absolutely amazing. They dropped what they were doing to attend to my guy since he was so scared. I'm so glad I found a great dog groomer somewhat close to my residence. I found them in Yelp and thought I'd give them a try, as the other groomer I had been going to always has a 1 week + waiting list. This groomer was able to take my dog within several days. They are located in a strip mall next to Delicias Peruanas, one of my favorite Peruvian restaurants! Their business is not glamorous and it's not a dog spa by any means. However if you want a good dog cut & clean, this is the place to go! I've taken my dog here several times now and I've never been disappointed! They do everything from teeth cleaning to nails and they even express the anal glands. Total cost for what I order comes out to $60. I would highly recommend this place. read more

It was my first time ever grooming my 2 year old toy shorkie mixed pup. I'm so happy I found this place on yelp because they made my dog look spectacular and she smelled so clean and fresh! She was so happy leaving Q D groomers! I never thought she could look so cute. I requested a teddy bear type hair cut, and she came out exceeding my expectations! I lOVE this place. Found this place out of desperation after my dog almost had a nervous breakdown with the last groomer I tried taking him too. My dog is nervous and will bite when afraid. Typically my dog will require a muzzle during a visit with the groomers. When I entered, I spoke to the friendly woman and she assured me that they will take care of my dog. She told me that they have experience with nervous and aggressive dogs. She explained that he will be ready in 90 mins. I was pleasantly surprised when I didnt recieve any complaints from them, nor any shaming about my dogs nervous behavior. He was perfectly bathed and his nails were trimmed.
