Amazingly bad!! Laughable. Sad I was alone and don't have someone to share this with. Ordered a chicken bowl, with sautéed peppers, black beans, and rice. It's just tasteless matter. It looks like food but by some magic, the ingredients don't even have their natural flavors. This salsa tastes like the world's worst canned spaghetti sauce but after removing all traces of spice and joy. Did I miss a sign that said 'hypertension friendly' because this whole bowl has to be salt free? My mouth is so angry. If I could eat dairy, I would have eaten ANYwhere else. Now I regret not just settling for ketchup and mustard packets off the floor. Service was meh. Realized after I left that the bottled coke rang up .60 more than the menu price. That's fun! It's been the highlight of the meal though. If you have had an uneventful trip and find yourself traveling through the Detroit airport, stop at the Qdoba across from gate A71 so you and the fam have something to laugh about for years to come. I love Qdoba, in fact this was the only dining place I was looking forward to eat coming to the airport. However, the staff is terrible. There was one employee Alexas, working the cash register, that was actually responsible. The staff working the line, and in the back was very rude. Not me, but as I'm in line speaking very loudly clearly about someone else working in the airport that they have an issue with. I do appreciate the fast service, just please be sure to wait until customers are out of the line to cuss and whatnot. read more

This review is for the Qdoba inside Detroit Metro Airport. You can find it on the far end of Concourse A inside the McNamara Terminal in the mini food court/market surrounded by Gates A71 to A78. We had a Sunday morning flight out of Gate A74. There weren't a lot of breakfast options near the gate. Here's what we had to choose from: * Pinkberry * Chick-fil-A * Qdoba * Detroit Street Lunchbox * Gordon Biersch * Green - a natural living store Even though Pinkberry is known for frozen yogurt, they were an option because they also sell smoothies and parfaits. We actually ended up getting a smoothie from them. Chick-fil-A was out because they're closed on Sundays. We probably would have gone with Chick-fil-A had they been open. Detroit Street Lunchbox is a grab-and-go kiosk with cold food. Gordon Biersch is a sit-down restaurant and we were looking for something more quick and convenient. Green really didn't have much in terms of food, just snacks. So, Qdoba it was. It was around 9:45am and it looked like the Qdoba employees had just rolled out of bed and did not want to be there. That is the type of attitude they gave off. They'd just fired up the grill and their credit card system was down. It was cash only. Qdoba serves breakfast daily, 6:00am to 10:30am. All they had to offer on their breakfast menu was a breakfast burrito for $7.70. The protein options were egg and potato, grilled chicken, and chorizo sausage. They also had OJ for $3.25. I ordered a chorizo burrito and customized it by adding eggs, potatoes, cheese, hot salsa, and sour cream. I gotta say, though greasy, the burrito was hot, fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot. I was glad I got it. Very satisfying with a generous portion of meat. The only problem was it took a while to get my burrito because they were out of eggs. They had to cook up a fresh batch of eggs for me. If I was pressed to catch a flight, this would've posed a problem, but since we had time, I didn't mind waiting (that much). I also got a bottle of water for $2.99. Total after tax for a breakfast burrito and water was $11.33. Outside of the breakfast menu, Qdoba charged $9.58 for a vegetarian or grilled adobo chicken burrito and $10.24 for a grilled steak burrito. Sides included queso, guac, salsa, and chips (about $3-5 per set of chips and dip) plus cookies and brownies ($2-3). There's plenty of seating in this part of the concourse. First, Tracy was very nice and picked up the slack for a very rude employee. Zion was making my bowl and snapped at me and other guests continuously. She made comments like "I wish you would have told me you wanted more rice as I was scooping it the first time" when she was just past the rice. About everything that could go wrong went wrong. Today I went to the Qdoba at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport for the first time. The service was atrocious. The was one woman that was giving the customers any quality service (presumably a manager), and she seemed frustrated at 2-3 other employees that were not keeping up with the flow of patrons. When I was at the front of the line there was a point when none of the 4 employees I had seen behind the counter were visible or helping us for what felt like minutes. The gentleman that ended up fulfilling my order seemed inconvenienced that I was deciding to spend my money at his employer's restaurant. His demeanor was cold and lazy and as he was scooping corn or salsa, half of which was spilling from the ladle into the other ingredients (a health concern on top of being nonchalant and unprofessional). This also led to small portions of each item I requested. I'm not sure he ever even looked me in the eyes. On top of this, when I finally got my meal and was able to eat, it was the most bland experience I have ever had between Qdoba and Chipotle (and this coming from someone that got queso and 3 different salsa in their bowl). Incredibly disappointed in my experience with Qdoba today. I only resorted to Qdoba because the Chik fil-A immediately next to it was closed on Sunday. Writing this review because of all the awful customer service reviews. I stopped by for a burrito bowl this evening, and the staff were cheerful, chatty, wonderful. They were running out of many ingredients at around 8pm - beef, chicken, chips, black beans, and napkins but I don't think that that is the staffs fault. There seems to be more of a management problem, and staff is doing what they can. The food was warm, and they have plenty of condiments. The line moved quickly. No quesadillas offered just as an FYI to anyone coming here in search of those. read more

ZERO STARS. I was blatantly ignored as a customer in line; it was almost like I was invisible to them as I watched airport staff behind me get service before me. Even when the person making food looked directly at me, nothing was said. Not only that--and I don't mean to sound/be prejudice--but it's pretty f*****g terrible when every employee behind the counter is black, and you're the only white guy in line with 3 black people standing behind you... and they are served before you... Not cool. You know what else isn't cool? Super skimpy portions... not having water on tap... (what the hell kind of place is this?)... and cold food. Avoid this one. In fact, shut it down, retrain the employees (or maybe hire all new staff), and train them to be more friendly, alert/aware, and respectful to customers; especially if they're standing in front of you and you both make eye contact. Olé! Qdoba gets my stamp of approval! It's located in Terminal "A" near gate A77. There are a couple other restaurants located in this mini food court as well. A pianist was playing the most awesome music on a grand piano! The music was wonderful , and so was my burrito bowl! There were copious amounts of rice and beans to start, along with a fresh selection of almost any ingredient and topping one could imagine or desire! I had chicken on my burrito and it was tasty, tender, and enough to satisfy my hunger! The serving staff was professional and friendly. They even engaged me in my mindless small talk with a smile!!! Yes, I should know that "Airport Food + Detroit + Qdoba = Fail" 100% of the time, but I usually eat at the Chick-Fil-A in this terminal, and their line was 20 people deep, and Qdoba was 10 feet away and had no line. --- I remember one boozy night in my early 20s hanging out with my roommates and some friends at a TGI Fridays near Boston. We were of course all blotto, and the Sox blew an 11-run lead or whatever, so we began behaving like the townie jack-asses we were. When my buddy Jimmy went out for a smoke, I took a large piece of my flat-iron steak and jammed it into his half-empty pint glass of Sam Adams, then my roommate Joey stuffed his partially-eaten Jack Daniels burger patty into the same glass with some fries and vegetable toppings - tomatoes and pickles I think - only for my other roomie to complete the masterpiece by plopping his mashed potatoes onto it and topping everything with ketchup. Somehow there was some blue cheese involved, but I can't remember how. We then took another pint glass, poured out the remaining Guinness into the mixture, and used the bottom of the glass to vigorously and gleefully mash everything down as much as possible, creating a mess as Jack Daniels sauce and rehydrated potato particles and beer splashed everywhere. At that point Joey was like, "Hey maybe we can take it into the men's room and..." "No!" I quickly interjected, knowing that one of us crazies was going to end up eating this on a dare... --- Before today, I had not been to a Qdoba in years, so forgive me if I don't know the menu or the procedures. I ordered a "Tortilla Soup." It started simple enough with a scoop of white rice and another scoop of black beans, and then a ladle of broth and some chicken. Then things got weird. Multiple workers kept asking me if I wanted one thing after another, and each time I'd be like "I dunno. Is it supposed to be on there?" Or "How did they train you to make this dish?" Or "You tell me! I don't know!" To fast-casual restaurants: train your people on how to make your food and stop asking me so many damn questions. These workers gave me a terrified and clueless look when I told them to "make it so it looks just like the picture." After some sautéed fajita-style peppers and onions, lettuce, two kinds of molten cheese, corn, pico de gallo, salsa, and sour cream, I was pretty sure we had veered off course from soup and instead became a salad. *CUE OMINOUS PARANOID MUSIC* (Those who regularly follow my reviews know that salads are a retrograde overpriced concept, low in nutrition, usually not particularly tasty or filling, frequently tinged with food-borne illness, and nearly always drenched in calorie-dense dressings - and therefore BAD EATS pushed on us by assholes trying to maximize profit at our expense, not neutral public health advocates. But I digress. The point being that if you really want a 1-star review from me, make my non-salad into a salad before my very eyes.) So I write my reviews contrary to the point because I know these guys operate a lot more different than the real stores. So if you're expecting that this place becomes something that it's not. This place is located at the end of concourse A by Chick-Fil-A and Pinkberry frozen yogurt. Right of it is a to-go sandwich stand. My burrito was over $7 but you can load it with any ingredients you want. There is no limit and guacamole is not extra! I got a chicken burrito and added corn, sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo. I, like many others I believe, came here because the line was short compared to its neighbor Chick-Fil-A. I didn't like that my order was being made at the same time as the order after mine rather than my being served first. I had to wait for 2 burritos after mine to be finished before I could pay for mine even though mine was already finished. It is definitely not a great option if you're remotely crunched for time. My burrito was cold and the meat was room temperature. The foil that wrapped it was thin and easily ripped so burrito filling spilled out a lot. The foil wasn't lined with a sturdier paper material so it didn't have much structure. Outside of the chicken option, you could choose chorizo or potato with egg. I didn't see any other menu items outside of this. The man before me ordered a bowl even though I didn't see this on the menu as an option. This is a terrible Qdoba, even for an airport. Today I witnessed 5 people behind the counter and only one was working. This seems to be a regular occurrence, altho 5 is the record me. They others were moving and talking, one of the other 4 was working the grill. I bring this up because a single solitary worker was preparing food for a growing line of people. Being a business traveller I usually minimize time at the airport, so when I'm here I am in and out for food. I usually get a burrito here as I fly out early mornings. If the food is alright if you just woke up and want some eggs and protein in an easy to deliver package (aka breakfast burrito), but I wouldn't go here if I wasn't expensing my food. read more

After too many martinis all I wanted was, I don't know, deep fried green tomatoes and a bloody mary... but that clearly wasn't going to happen in an airport. I saw there was a Pinkberry near my gate, but that was ruled out when they announced they were cash only. I don't know why I became fixated on Qdoba as the next, next best option (the brain is a mysterious place; even more so after a pint of vodka), but I seriously regret it. I asked for a vegetarian burrito in a bowl... the only vegetable they could offer me was some rubbery red pepper as they had no other veggies. So my burrito bowl was almost entirely lettuce, a sour salsa verde, and these long red strands of rubber, I mean, red pepper. I'll give them props on the guacamole though - it actually looked and tasted fresh (and was chunky with actual avo pieces0. Maybe I'm being naive here and it was squeezed out of a plastic bag full of additives to make it such a vibrant green color earlier that day, but... let me grasp at my straws! I've never had such a horrible dining experience in an airport OR at a Qdoba until today. My friend and I decided to walk down to the end of terminal A at DWT to grab Qdoba before our flight. We sat at one the bars with the iPads to order instead of standing in line, which was a bigger mistake than going to the location as we probably would have walked away right there and a horrible experience wouldn't have been had. Ten minutes after ordering a Qdoba worker came over to notify me that they were out of guacamole. Not ideal but I said if he can replace it with queso that would be fine. My friend who had just placed an order right after me started to ask him about her order but he walked away. I said he would probably be back to ask about yours as soon as he saw you requested guacamole but he never did. After another 10 mins and NO ONE standing in line I walked up to ask about our orders. As I walk up I hear them talking (about 6 workers just standing around) about what seemed like my order. They had steak and rice on the burrito shell and then one of the workers said looks like she's not getting guacamole and the lettuce, well we are out... She says this as she scoops up the last couple chunks of dried up lettuce and threw it on the burrito. I said excuse me if that's my to go order I asked for pico on there as well. She glared at me and slopped it on and closed up the burrito. Please note there was no queso put on my burrito as a replacement for the guacamole and the guy who had confirmed it at my seat was no where to be seen. As I'm still standing there waiting for them to wrap up my order, a gentleman who seemed like he was a manager or maybe worked for the dining food court area of the airport overheard "my troubles" and goes "are you the one who sent the email?" I'm assuming he was referring to someone who also was given shitty service. I responded "No I'm not sure what or who you're referring to, I'm just trying to get my meal that I ordered awhile ago." I also mentioned that my friend would be coming up to get her order to see what other substitutions she could have for the guacamole since she is on a health restrictive diet. As she started walking over to the counter, he was already bringing over her meal and tried to drop it off and go. She said she still wanted to see what other options she could have for her bowl, maybe some kind of dressing or other salsa. She also mentioned something about getting a refund because the guacamole was what she was most looking forward to and was never even notified it wouldn't be on her meal. At that pointed I had opened my meal. Chips were over done, burrito that was incorrect was busting at the seams (see attached photo) and was far from appealing to eat. I then showed the gentleman and said yes maybe we should have not ordered here as this meal and our experience was far from satisfactory. He said sorry and walked away and that was that. Most places would try to make this situation right by offering a refund, remaking the meal, etc... But that wasn't the case here. Also, side note: 20 mins after we got our meal we saw they were putting out new pico, lettuce,etc... I didn't see any guacamole but I'm going to say it was already prepared in the back for the "dinner crowd" as I can't imagine Qdoba to be open 3pm-close with no guacamole available. Ambiance This Qdoba is in the McNamara terminal over by Gates A71 to A78. I believe this side has better food than the opposite end of the terminal. There is always a line as it is supposed to be cheap Mexican food. Food Burrito is super small compared to the actual restaurants outside the airport. The rice was not cooked fully when we had our burrito. Someone else decided to come back and return their food. Definitely have had much better bad Mexican food let alone this place where I pay a premium. Service The restaurant is in an airport and can be fast or slow depending on the time. read more

Fast, kind, clean. The food is simple but nutritious and light if you so choose. The options are limited as it's an airport and it cost more like always.
