Good food for the price for Texas City. New updated picture menu as of December 2024.

This is the 3rs time my wife and I have ordered from here. She's not a big Chinese food fan but she really enjoys this place and so do I. Egg drop soup delicious and always hot with heat. The fried rice is ok. I'm not sure what they put on it but it's good but not my fav. The general tso is one of our favs the lo main the 1st time we ordered had a lot oyster sauce in it and was very over powering. Tonight it was perfect. And the cheese puffs are amazing.

Cool decor.

I had heard over the years that Qing Qing is really good. From several people. My wife wanted us to try it today since they have some vegan friendly options she'd enjoy. I had a craving for shrimp fried rice and the shrimp fried rice did not disappoint. Loaded with shrimp and had very good flavor over all. The bean curd Szechuan dinner special my wife got was delicious as well. While we were ordering I saw an image of fried biscuits on the screen they have behind the counter showing pics of the foods they serve. That advertising worked because it got me wanting some biscuits. They serve them with or with out sugar. I got the fried biscuits with sugar. Good stuff. One order of biscuits is alot of biscuits. Everything was delicious and for a very good price. Portion size is good as well. I also liked the restaurant's ambiance. Small place yet it had a relaxing vibe to it. Love places like that. We got to-go, but still was an all around nice experience. Will be going here again for sure.

I think this is the best chinese sit down / take out place in town. I've only been a few times, but every time I visit, I receive excellent service and a tasty meal. My favorite dish thus far is the black pepper beef. It comes with fried rice, numerous chopped onions, black pepper, diced bell pepper, jalapeños and serranos. The food always come out hot and steaming from the kitchen and service is excellent here. Their hot spicy shrimp is not as hot as they claim. After I ordered it, they say "I've been warned". However, if you eat spicy food on a regular basis, it shouldn't be a problem. The restaurant is small and only has about 13 tables, but the turnover is quick during lunchtime and I've never had to wait for a table.

The worst customer service ever! The food was cold. The only thing I liked was the Jasmine tea. I will never return!

After more than 15 years of passing by Basil House, I finally gave it a try this evening. I had a…read morecraving for Vietnamese that nagged at me all afternoon. There are plenty of Vietnamese restaurants in the area, but I felt Basil House deserves a go. Essentially a hole in the wall, it's located along Palmer Highway not too far from where it meets 146. The building may look small, but the interior begs to differ somewhat. This is the third time I use "Vietnamese," but what's so unique about this eatery is that it also offers Thai dishes. I decided to do both for my first visit; I ordered a Vietnamese grilled pork rice plate and Thai chicken skewers. My orders arrived at my table at the same time, which I thought was nice. Regarding the skewers, the chicken was pretty sizable. It was so tender that it came off the stick after a bite or two. I must admit it was dry, but still a nice way to start a meal. As for the main star of the show, the rice plate, I have nothing but immense love for it. The kitchen staff wasn't stingy with the amount of meat they placed on the plate. Tender just like the chicken, the grilled pork carried a sweet taste that got even better when dipped in the accompanying fish sauce. Oh, I forgot to mention the skewers and the rice plate had cucumbers, which raised the tangy factor. I capped everything off with fried banana and vanilla ice cream. A man who I assumed was the owner of the place acted as my server. He did an outstanding job, refilling my drink and giving me extra napkins. By my estimate, Basil House is the closest Vietnamese restaurant to my house. No need to travel at least ten miles if I want my fill in ice plates, spring rolls, or even pho.

The sandwiches were absolutely delicious. I was also very impressed that they prepared the gluten-free sandwiches in separate containers from the rest of the order. My boyfriend got their sandwich that was similar to an Italian sub, which comes with the olive spread on it. He liked his sandwich, but felt the olive spread was overwhelming and scraped most of it off. He later said that had there been less of it on the sandwich it probably would've been better for him. My stomach was a little upset, so I was looking for something milder. So I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich off of the kids menu. Maybe it's just me, but a grilled cheese sandwich is American cheese on white bread, grilled. Here, apparently children eat cheddar and Swiss on a grilled roll. I asked to hold the Swiss, and went with straight cheddar as American was not an option. It was OK, but nothing to write home about in my opinion. Apparently this is a popular spot, as the tables were full both before we arrived and after we left, but unfortunately, we did not have an overwhelmingly positive experience.

I ordered Steak and Eggs and my wife ordered the Crabmeat Omelette. My Steak and Eggs were very good. The steak was a perfect medium rare. The eggs were over medium to a T, simply amazing. The breakfast potatoes were soft yet firm with delicious little crispy bits hidden throughout. My wife's Crabmeat Omelette was good. The crabmeat wasn't overly fishy and the omelette was fluffy. It just needed something extra to take it over the top, like fresh green onions or chives. This place was great. Everything from the service, the food and the atmosphere was above and beyond. I am definitely coming back and trying everything.

The waffle was good and fluffy--not too thick or too thin. The scrambled eggs were slightly overcooked but still tasty, and the bacon had the perfect amount of flavor and crispness. I wasn't a fan of the vanilla latte, as it was much too sweet for my taste, and the regular coffee was just okay--it lacked the bold flavor or kick I was hoping for. Others at my table ordered the steak and eggs and the migas, and both cleaned their plates, which is always a good sign. Overall, it was a nice breakfast spot with plenty of menu items I'd like to try, and I'd definitely go back.
