We recently stayed at the Quality Inn and after years of good service and a well kept establishment I have to say that the maintenance of the facility has taken a turn for the worse. Rooms need a serious upgrade and the current clientele are loud and intoxicated at night. For the first time ever we were forced to call the front desk at 3 AM for disorderly people keeping us awake. It looks like we will be staying at a new place our next visit. Sad. read more

Price per night was way over inflated for the quality of the room you get. When we arrived our room had an old musky smell with bugs found on the floor in the bathroom. Was always our favorite place to stay mainly due to location. Was due to be there this past Saturday by 4pm but came down with flu like symptoms Friday night and couldn't cancel in the 24 hour posted cancellation time. Was charged the full room fee plus I guess a 20$ charge. Called to see if there was anything that could be done even if just partial. Was told rather quickly- that's policy- goodbye. If you are looking for a hotel with a good location, that is just about all you will find here. The pool is nice and that's about it. Compared to other Quality Inns I have stayed at, this is certainly one of the less appealing ones. The beds were comfortable but my room had a strong, old carpet smell. Upon my arrival, I noticed several pieces of hair throughout the bathroom. The room did not feel clean, especially considering the price. After dropping my belongings, I headed into town. As I passed the room below me, the door was open with two industrial grade fans blowing outward. When I looked inside, I saw the beds flipped over, looking like something was being cleaned under the beds or against the wall. I am not sure what was being cleaned or removed but it only made me wonder about my room. I headed down for breakfast the following morning and was greatly disappointed to find the "hot breakfast" that was promised. This breakfast was composed of Poptarts, bland, pre-packaged muffins, bananas and breakfast sandwiches that needed to be heated up. However, they do not even have a microwave in the lobby. You have to take them back to your room if you want to heat them up. As I sat in the lobby eating my substandard breakfast, multiple guests came inside to check out. Every time the front desk clerk asked about their stay, the replies weren't surprising. Nearly everyone was not satisfied, with complaints ranging from numerous beer bottles under beds to air conditioners not working. I called the front desk, inquiring about a late checkout. The man told me the best he could do was noon. Noon is the normal checkout time. After pointing this out, he said "oh yeah, we aren't doing late checkouts right now." Perhaps he forgot the checkout time, otherwise, I am not sure why he didn't begin with that. I would recommend trying some of the smaller, local hotels in town. Most are roughly the same price and I am confident that they will show more care with regards to your stay. read more

While the location is ideal, the "quality" of this hotel is lacking. The rooms are falling apart. Very shabby. The air conditioner seems to have two settings. Not working at all and Polar Ice Caps. The mattresses were sagging. The bathrooms were a mess. The toilet wobbled if you sat on it. The mirror and tile chipped and cracked. The free WiFi is next to nonexistent. The breakfast was bare bones. The final nail in the coffin for me was my autistic son finding a pot pipe, couple of blunts and weed in our nightstand. The at desk person seemed to think just saying "Sorry and I'll talk to housekeeping" was good enough. It took me telling them I would be posting these online before we were comped the room. Only then was our room properly cleaned. It had reeked of cigarette smoke when we checked in. Despite it being labeled a non smoking room. We did use the pools. They seem to be the only thing maintained on property. Would not return. Also, be advised if you stay here and experience the same and decide you need to leave a review to warn other families of such conditions, the manager then calls you at home to complain to you that you left a review. So if you find drugs here, don't bother informing them. Just call the police because clearly they do not care about their customers and their safety. read more

Came here with my girlfriend on our trip to Liberty Mountain Resort. This is a nice Quality Inn with a sort of local feel, as all of the decorations and theme are based on the battle of Gettysburg. We had a little bit of trouble with the door's deadbolt , as it would get caught as the door would open or close, but otherwise this was a nice hotel room. read more

Floors were dirty In our room. Needed the indoor pool opened at 9:00 am and i had to call the office and ask why it was still locked after 9 am. She notified maintenance n he never showed up to open it untill i personally walked over to the office to report it for the 2nd time n then he finally showed up n opened it a half hour after it was supposed to be opened. Can I do 2.5 stars? The main draw here is the location. Easy walking to all the shops. There was a pool outdoors (summer) and indoors (winter only) which was a plus for my kids. The breakfast was as expected for continental and is in a little cottage on the property. Seating is tough for breakfast but that was the only real problem. There is also an underground bar onsite but I didn't go in. The real drawback here are the rooms. They are outdated and stuffy and they feel run down. The rooms are clean, but they really need an update. Also, this really is more of a motel - where the rooms open up directly outside to the parking lot. Honestly I expected a lot more from this place for the price we paid. If it was cheaper I wouldn't have been surprised by the quality of the rooms. read more

Stayed here a few times with my wife and dog. Love this place. Always friendly staff and so close to everything. My recent stay last week was slightly different since housekeeping would not clean or bring fresh towels until checkout (thanks to the pandemic). This was completely understandable and we were told that if we needed anything at all to just let the front desk know and it would be taken care of. Never had any problems or issues here and we will continue to stay here every time we visit Gettysburg. read more

Great location. Awesome that it has a pool. There's NO first aide kit at the pool. When we pulled up someone was on the side of the pool laid out waiting for an ambulance. A manager ran by asking if anyone knew CPR!! 1) Managers and staff should know CPR and 2) there should be a first aide kit readily available with a barrier mask for CPR!!! There was what looked like blood on one of the pool chairs The front lobby smells of mold and mildew, very musty. Our room, even though it was non smoking remakes of smoke and even weed one night when we got back. All the vents are caked with dust and cob webs The quilt had a dirt stain and blood stain on it. I stay at this hotel at least three times a year, and have never had a bad experience with either a room or the staff. The staff is friendly, helpful and goes out of their way to assist you if you have an issue. They helped me find a place In Gettysburg to board my pet, and even found a doctor for me when I became ill on one trip. The free breakfast is awesome and a good selection is offered. It's in a newer, charming little building that looks like an old-timey bed and breakfast cottage. The only reason I don't give the hotel five stars is because the hotel could really use an update. The carpet, bedspreads and furniture definitely show some wear and tear, and the rooms are a bit shabby, although everything is clean. If you're coming to tour the battlefield or see the Remembrance Day parade, this is the hotel for you. You'll be able to hoof it to the battlefield park (bring a bike instead of taking the driving tour - you'll be glad you did) and a number of shops and restaurants. Stay here instead of one of the newer, but more expensive, hotels, and save your money to have dinner at the Dobbin House and Cashtown Inn instead. read more

Over the years, my wife and I have stayed at various places of lodging in Gettysburg, but the Quality Inn on Steinwehr Avenue ranks high on the list and deserves a favorable review. Though check-in is not until 3PM, we arrived early and were checked in promptly. The staff at the front desk were very professional and friendly. The rooms themselves are cozy. We had a room with a King bed which was extremely comfortable. There was a 32" LCD television outfitted with cable service of approximately 50 to 60 stations. The bathroom was a bit outdated with some worn wallpaper but was very clean. There was also no working ventilation fan in the bathroom. Outside of the bathroom was a sink and ample counter space for necessary toiletries. The only negative was a sensor which causes the air conditioning to turn off when no one is in the room and the minimum temperature is reached. At times, the room felt very warm after returning from excursions to the town or battlefield. Outside of the room, there was space on the walkway to sit in metal chairs that were shared with the adjoining room. The view from our room was spectacular - we were on the side facing Cemetery Ridge on the battlefield. I'd highly recommend requesting this view if possible. The hotel is located in the business district of Gettysburg so there are plenty of shops, restaurants, and attractions that are within walking distance. If you need to drive, parking is not an issue as each guest gets their very own parking spot labeled with the room number. There is a pool in the center of the complex. It stays open until 10PM most nights and looked clean. There are also a number of areas with ice and vending machines which are useful in the sweltering summer evenings in Gettysburg. Breakfast is complimentary in the Breakfast Cottage, a house adjacent to the hotel. However, it was extremely crowded even at 8AM with no room to sit or move. Thankfully, there is a Friendly's restaurant across the street where breakfast is 50% off on weekdays. The cleaning staff were very personable and did an excellent job maintaining the rooms. On checkout, we were again greeted by courteous staff. It's apparent that management cares about their guests and works diligently to maintain this property. We will stay at this Quality Inn again in a future visit. read more

NASTY is the best word to give this place !!! This is a very out dated and dirty hotel. It does allow you to take dogs, nice staff and if you get a room facing the battlefield ( great view ), that is about it for anything good to say. You can see the staff work hard to clean what they can, but the over all place needs remodeled badly. The rooms are dark with old broken furniture, broken lamps, dirty carpet and so much more nastiness. Basically the 1970s and 80s dumped all their broken cheap furniture in this hotel. Whoever owns this place needs to spend some money to do some massive upgrades. read more

Stayed at this very nice hotel 8/27-8/29 and really had a good stay. The hotel is located right next to the battlefield and is walking distance to many places to eat and great shopping. Very kid friendly and welcoming to all. The room was very comfortable and the beds were very good for a restful nights sleep. Considering the hotel is right off the main drag, the room was extremely quiet and that was a plus. The a/c really cranked and even had to turn it down a touch as the room actually got too cold. Shower was good and hot and the room amenities were adequate. Front desk staff were all very helpful both upon check-in and check-out. Free breakfast is served in a very quaint cottage located on the property with plenty of seating and breakfast selection included fresh fruit, bakery, hot eggs and sausage, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, plenty of hot coffee, tea, nice juice selection and several choices of cold cereal. The unsung hero of the hotel had to be the very large outdoor pool. It was an oasis on probably the 2 hottest days of summer. Plenty of towels poolside with lots of seating and umbrella tables. A real hidden gem. Love the large stone to jump into the higher levels of water. Pool goes from 9 feet to 3 feet. There is also an indoor pool open during the off season. We did not have the chance to check out the underground saloon that is located next to the breakfast cottage. Overall, a very nice stay and I would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Gettysburg. read more

I stayed here in May with my boyfriend. This is an absolute great choice if you are coming to this area! You are super close to all the little shops and the battlefield. Everything is basically walking distance. The price is great and they even have a pool and breakfast cottage. Everything is super clean and Nikki at the front desk was so sweet and helpful. On our first visit to Gettysburg we were unsure where to stay so we rolled the dice and decided to try this hotel. As we approached the hotel, we saw fields with memorials dotting the sides. We came to understand this area was where the Day 1 fighting took place. The hotel is actually where Lee had his headquarters. It was clean and comfortable. The bathroom used the space they had very efficiently. The owners were friendly and helpful and answered all our questions. The dining area was clean and kept up even with a full house. We would definitely stay here again. While outside of town, it was an easy drive into Gettysburg proper & to the park headquarters. read more

Great hotel for the price. A cheap hotel with cheap beds and amenities. But it DOES have all the amenities you need. It's very clean, and all the staff are courteous and patient. The free breakfast cottage is a plus, despite having the same food every day. A major problem with the hotel are that the beds are pretty uncomfortable, but it's better than sleeping on the ground or a couch. The other problem is that despite the fact that most if not all of the hotel is smoke free, people are still allowed to smoke on the balconies of the second floor rooms, so we had to deal with cigarette smoke coming through almost every day of our four night stay. Overall I was pleased with the hotel, and recommend it for an affordable stay in this great town. read more

The rooms could use a little updating mainly newer carpeting, but other than that they were very clean. The price was very reasonable. We stayed here because they were pet friendly and there was no extra charge. They also had breakfast (individually wrapped Jimmy D breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, poptarts, muffins, oranges and coffee), it was limited due to COVID but I have recently stayed at other hotels/motels with no breakfast items available, so this was a plus. The battle field is right across the street and you can walk to a few of the restaurants, museums, ghost tours and gift shops in town. The staff were extremely friendly and I had no problem getting extra pillows and towels for my room. We are already excited to plan our next trip here. read more

Our room was not clean and it had a bad odor. The next morning I went to the front desk and told the desk clerk and she told me it wasn't a dog smell because dogs were not in that building only in the other. I asked to speak with the manager and she gave me a card and wrote his name on it. We thought they would clean the room better but they didn't. The grout in the bathroom is black around the edges of the tub and about six inches around the toilet. The mirrors had dirt all over them and you could tell someone had been popping pimples in front of both mirrors. The toilet had urine stains around the seat. The shower/tub had black marks from dirt. They shower tub also appeared to have soap scum on it. I would have thought the tub wasn't cleaned from last guest but it may just be years of build up and stains. The balcony was covered in dirt and a sticky substance on the door and chairs. The towels had stains and was dingy. The carpet and chair was old and worn with stains. The vents were covered in dirt. The AC does not cool very well. It was in the 70's outside so we were able to tolerate the air not cooling. The AC made so much noise that it was hard to watch TV. The TV has a volume control on it so you can not turn it up. The spread on the bed had stains on it as well. We did not use the pool but you could smell the chorine in the entire building. I never seen any one checking on the pool and their chemicals, The breakfast cottage is too small for the number of people trying to eat, The eggs and sausage are in round patties. They had hard boiled eggs as well. They had a wide variety and everyone could find something to eat even if was just fruit. The breakfast cottage needs more seating inside or maybe a few tables outside for fall when the weather is nice out to offer more seating for guest during peak times. On day two I walked to the front office and to see if manager was in and everyone was on the phone and after about 7 to 8 minutes waiting I left. Upon checking out the young girl asked how was my stay and I told her the room was dirty and needing better cleaning. She just stared into her computer and ignored my comment. She handed my receipt and told me thank you and never acknowledged my complaint. Also, I never got a call from the manager so I tried on three occasions to complain about the room but the staff just would not acknowledge my complaints. We stay in peak season so the room was 140.00 per night and this is a 60.00 a night hotel at best. We would have gladly changed hotels but it was peak season and all of the hotels were booked and could not accommodate us for the entire stay. I asked for a manager and was told one would contact me or I could call Phil the general manager. read more

My girlfriend and I decided to go for a little vacation at Gettysburg- its our first time here. We decided to stay at the Quality Inn Gettysburg Battlefield. I w ill break it down easy for you all. The PROS: Good location- A little less congested since its outside of downtown with more free parking available. its o n a major road with museums and restaurants close by. The room is very clean. The room is fairly big ( see pics). The rates- even during summertime are pretty good. LCD TV in room Bed sheets are all white and they clean both that and the comforter every time We had a private balcony overlooking the pool which was kinda nice( i mean as nice as you can get with a view of a parking lot. The whirlpool bath big enough for 2 people- barely-( see photo). Shower pressure adequate. Outside pool area is surprisingly nice overall- Nice comfortable chairs- Umbrellas with tables- plenty of towels . The customer service is extremely friend and helpful- I asked for towels and they gave us as many as we needed. The WIFI was the fastest I have seen in a hotel that wasn't made for business conventions. The CONS: The problem is they kind of try to save money in all the wrong ways. The TV is nice but it doesn't have any buttons on the TV itself- It is a cheap version. The toilet has a pressurized flusher but gets easily clogged. The bed wasn't very firm- you can cave in on the sides. Breakfast the next day- was poor. All they had was these eggs and sausage- both in the shape of a coaster - and waffles for a hot mean. They had English muffins, glazed donuts and this blueberry muffins sealed in plastic.. NO cream cheese- which was a bummer. It was kinda weak that it didn't have much else. This customer service ladies there working the breakfast kitchen were very helpful but this place clearly is saving money on breakfast The microwave/fridge combo is cheap- the fridge doesn't freeze and the microwave has a dial timer that you cant precisely set a time. you cant tell if you are heating something up for 30 seconds or 3 min. VERY CHEAP. (see photo) The bathroom faucet pressure is very poor ( its because the water saver is too powerful( see photo) The bathtub is extremely deep to step into. It's very dangerous to get in and out of it. a senior citizen or even a short person would have trouble. They need a large s- no slip step to step into it which handles all around.. You don't scrimp on safety The pool towels range in 2 sizes small and tiny. The WORST part about the room- the air conditioner-The AC is connected to a motion sensor in the room. It only works if there is movement or if someone is there- meaning it senses people - sort of.( see photo).FIVE minutes after you walk out of your room, even if you have the AC on and its blasting cool air on HIGH. The AC will turn off. It stays off until someone comes into the room near the bed. Meaning if its 100 degrees out in the middle of July( which we were there during) You cannot turn it on and leave it on so you can go out so you could- I don't know - be comfortable when you walk into your bedroom that you are paying all this money for even though you were just walking around the battlefield in a pool of sweat! Then it takes over 2 hours to get cool again .This is a horrible idea. If you want to save money- put LED lights everywhere. You don't scrimp on comfort I have been in hundreds of hotels throughout the world and I have never seen this set up We were using the pool for over 3 hours and we didn't see anyone come to check the water quality. On top of that- there are NO jets to clean it.( dead bugs floating all over.) It's a hit or miss. . Honestly I don't think I will come back here during the summer if they still have those motion sensor Air conditioning. That was really the pits. Even though they are under Choice- they are individually owned- and the Quality Inn Gettysburg battlefield. Spring or fall? Maybe. NOT Summer. Never again. read more

Old motel that is close to the battlefield and shopping. Those are the good points and not worth the room price. The newer section with the indoor pool is okay, but becoming dated and well worn. I believe the group that owns this place is too busy with their new venture across the street to spend money needlessly, that wouldn't make sense since there is always someone ready to pay for any room in this town. Don't be fooled by 5 stars on other web sites, most of those are from years ago before the current generation of retail management took over and frankly, if the toilet flushes, there's an extra roll of toilet paper, and the door locks...people are happy. The bottles of shampoo are just refilled from some dollar general product and there to make you feel special. And that's basically what you get here, good enough and as cheap as possible. Oh..the breakfast is okay, no complaints unless management cheap out and start cutting the menu or food quality. Remember, it's not bed bugs.....but it might be fleas. Chances are this motel is not as well maintained, for once the new motel opens, the overflow guests will be directed to this place and it will soon have the charm of a $20 an hour motel. Laura, I am so sorry if you are disappointed with the review, but considering the experience I had there with your front desk clerk, not you, the review is fitting. Perhaps your employee embellished the conversation to her favor, but she was nasty and smug and I guess I can't blame her for following your orders. It's unfortunate someone like you can only stand behind policies for justification of their actions and I guess the previous years I have stayed there without problems meant nothing until there was a chance you would miss out on a few bucks in your pocket. Again I am sorry for the incident, but you came out ahead....so what does it matter to you.
