About 20 years ago, Tequila Aficionado rated Casa Noble Tequila as the top Tequila in Mexico. Super smooth, 100 percent agave, long standing tequila house in Jalisco. A lot of people like to argue that Patron is the best, but Patron is exported only. Not widely drunk in Mexico. Anyway, it's been my favorite tequila ever since back in the day. And Que Pasa serves it in Margaritas or shots. Que Pasa also has great el Torito style food, only better. I remember the owner when he first started out as the GM at Sierra's (and Mission Burrito) in Canoga Park. I spent many evenings after work at those places, we are so lucky to have this one and I'm so glad I work a block away. The tableside guacamole is outstanding. Very disappointed tonight. Showed up and it was recently busy. Was put on a wait list for myself. Wife, and 2 kids. There were open tables we could see. As we stood there and waited they seated multiple groups of our size who did not have reservations. When I asked why they were being seated and we weren't the lady up front said " hey these people Are first" the larger blond manager said no seat them then stormed off to clean up the floor while yelling at some employees. They proceeded to seat another set of people while I stood there. Not sure why we were being ignored. Maybe it was my very well behaved kids? The last time we ate here the food was expensive and mediocre. My wife and I living locally decided to give it a try again. Decision regretted we are now sitting at another restaurant while I write this. We are being treated better at this other place and getting great food!!! The only thing this place has going for it is the table guacamole - and thankfully it wasn't served in a child's dish or it would have been game over from the getgo. Sadly the chips were imitation Mexican (so, white) and although Collette was a gem who tried her hardest to keep up with our large group's rapid fire ordering style, the food/booze was utterly disappointing, thereby canceling out her sincere efforts. I had a super ultimate cadillac margarita that tasted like sweet and sour juice on ice, so when I mentioned I'd like something stronger she suggested the huge one in the bowl. Sounded good enough to me. Nope, nada, negative. It was just a soup-sized version of the first one. When I mentioned it to Collette, she told me that their old bartender quit and the new one just wasn't good. Umm, prob should have been hinted at when I opted for the larger than life drink he was bound to mess up. She did bring two shots of tequila "on her" to make up for it, so that was nice, though pretty sure those were missing from my previous drinks, so not sure that was quite the gesture to make the dinner experience up to par. My girl friend and I pulled off the 101 in Atascadero to figure out which turn off to take to get to I-5 and we just happened into the parking lot of this Mexican restaurant. We also just happened to be hungry and we just happened to get out of our truck and get a seat on the patio where we could keep an eye on the truck. We were seated promptly and immediately given menus and chips and salsa. Our drink order was taken at that time as well. A few minutes later our drinks arrived and our orders were taken. It took a few minutes to get our orders out of the kitchen but the waiter (I think his name was Oscar) kept us updated on our food. If you want food that is not precooked then you need to be patient. If you want instant gratification then maybe you should eat at Taco Bell. I ordered a salad with seared tuna. The tuna tasted fresh and was cooked to perfection, seared perfectly on the outside while maintaining the tender, delicate, practically raw center that I have come to crave in seared tuna. What I liked the most about it was the seasoning that was just the right blend, adding plenty of wonderful flavors to the tuna without overpowering it. The salad was fresh, crisp and delicious as well. It was one of the best seared tuna salads I have ever had. Thanks to Que Pasa, I have been craving seared tuna ever since. Yes; I did have a five star experience!!! It is a good thing there is Freebird and Chipotle for all of the haters out there. read more

Frankly I am really surprised at the low reviews on here. I have lived in Atascadero over 20 years and I feel we have never had fresh tasting Mexican food here. It has always been greasy, over fried, oily cheese enchilada, taco peeing oil when you take a bite type Mexican food here. I think there is a Mexican food revolution coming to Atascadero soon and I am on Que Pasa's side. When walking in it has a very nice clean, modern vibe to it. Think a local vibe El Torito. It has a large seating dining area as well as a full bar with seating in there as well and it is just very nicely decorated. The place just gives the vibe of fresh as opposed to a few places in town that can be sketchy. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. They came with chips and salsa quickly which was very good salsa. They also have a cart where they make your guacamole in front of you and add more ingredients to you taste. They were fast and easy in the chip refills which lets admit it is half the reason we eat at Mexican food joints is to eat half a basket of chips to yourself even before you food. I had a simple lunch that day of tortilla soup, which I was very excited to see as an everyday menu item as I find a good one hard to find and consider myself a connoisseur. It was the best local tortilla soup I have had. So fresh tasty with perfectly cooked veggies and lots of chicken, basically a meal in itself. My brother got a two combo lunch platter and a drink. He got 2 chicken tacos which he said tasted quite good and the shell was great. They home make their tortillas there right in the front area so you can watch. Their menu is not overwhelming but with choices seemingly for everyone. Their prices are very good in my opinion and worth the cost. Ordered the sizzling enchilada plate which comes with plentiful rice and beans and either chicken or carne asada enchiladas. I got one of each and the chicken was really yummy, but let me tell you about that "carne asada"... Or shall I say liver... yes, LIVER. I had one bite and my pregnancy senses were tingling and warning me that this was not true-to-self carne asada. One bite and I practically threw it up. My fiance tried it and agreed that it wasn't carne asada, DEFINITELY LIVER. When they served me a warm beer, I should have taken the hint... However, I stayed and ordered the "Que Pasa Burrito" as did my girlfriend. Man, am I a glutton for punishment. We were immediately disappointed upon our first bites. Our burritos could best be described as flour tortillas filled with sludge. The sludge being a mixture of soupy beans and a meager amount of dried and burnt carnitas. The burritos swam on the plate among more soupy beans and rice. All covered in a green sauce that gave the meal a Tijuana-esque sewer appearance. The dining experience at Que Pasa can best be compared to a grade school cafeteria, summer camp, or a military chow hall. Mass produced slop better suited to a post-apocalyptic world where machines rule the earth and humans are cultivated from cloned embryos and injected with a cheap calorie packed goop. Before I finish, I think it's important to mention that I don't recommend taking your wife or girlfriend to this establishment as it left the guns hot throughout the night. I pray our little dog recovers without too much lung and brain damage as he suffered the most from this traumatic experience. At least he'll stop sleeping under the covers at night. read more

My wife and I came in on Saturday afternoon with our four year old son and one year old daughter. There were many open tables, however we waited over an hour for our food to come. Our children's fries and chicken came first, but it was cold. When they brought the wrong meal for my wife I started to get annoyed. When I cut into my burrito the middle was cold and outside was lukewarm that was the last straw. I did complain to the manager stating that I would like to pay for my children's meal but I did not want our meal any longer he did comp the entire meal, but at this point the children were done and ready to go (parents you will understand this) We ended up leaving the cold food on the table and left. 1st time and the last time. Atrocious food and service to match. Once seated we patiently waited while two tables that arrived after us had been greeted and had ordered before anyone noticed we were there. Once recognized we ordered two margaritas and our food, a chicken tostada and a carne asada grilled burrito. We waited an absurdly long time for our margaritas to arrive and once I saw them start make their way to our table I witnessed our server send them back because she had forgot that we ordered them. Our food arrived alone, at that point we asked our server about our margaritas. You could tell by the look on her face that she had forgotten about them and realized her mistake. We finally got the margaritas, unfortunately they were watery and without salt. Not to mention my margarita on the rocks was served in a plastic cup with a straw! Now the food. The tostada was terrible...not much more to say. The grilled burrito was marginally better but with a $15 price tag was hardly worth it. The complimentary chips and salsa weren't good either. Every time I go here I regret it. I end up here because it is literally right next to the movie theater. Convenience in exchange for disappointment, I suppose. The place is clean and the ambiance is nice. The service and the food are both mediocre, at best. We've all seen that manager letter that went viral, so clearly there are problems from top to bottom here. For as expensive as their food is, it definitely is not worth the price tag. I've been to Que Pasa four times now and I'll start by saying that when my order is made correctly its always delicious. The problem for us has been an inept waitress who works the dinner side of the restaurant. (The one time we sat on the bar side we had amazing service). How this particular waitress (reminiscent of Tammy Faye Baker) continues to work here astounds me as all three times she's helped us over the course of many months she's been dreadful. She's written down the food wrong. Stood around our table awkwardly as we tried to eat and she fawned over our baby. Brought other people over to look at our baby while we were eating. Also, anytime an order has deviated from the menu (substitutions or exclusions) it's like she goes into shutdown mode and we have to repeat ourselves multiple times. This is waitress is not an asset to Que Pasa and is honestly my only reason for avoiding the restaurant. My only conclusion is that she's related to the owner. Que Pasa, please train this woman or let her go so customers can eat in the dining area without fear of bad service. read more

The problem with this place is that although the food is pretty good, the service is the only thing you can count on to be consistently poor. It takes way too long to place your order. Then it takes way too long to get your food and it's not like it's just because there is a rush in the dining room, it is always like this even if the restaurant is slow. The staff is hit and miss aswell. Some of the younger kids that bring the chips and salsa are friendly and polite, but the wait staff seem disinterested and over it. We all ate our meals only because we had a 45 to an hour wait for our dinners by then we were all starving.. We had to continuously ask for refills on drinks and utensils weren't provided & had to ask for them. One of our party members waited for her meal 15 minutes longer after we had our meals, & ate her meal alone because they took so long... Ate dinner there Christmas Eve before going to see Rogue One at Galaxy Theater. One member of our party of 3 ordered a Mule, an advertised drink from their bar. The picture on the table advertisement shows the drink served in a copper cup, which is correct. Que Pasa serves their Mule in a tin cup with a copper finish on the outside of the cup and charges $10 for the drink. Really wish our member would have both refused the drink and refused to pay for it, since a Mule actually has to be served in a copper cup. Their servers are usually friendly enough, the food is usually mediocre, and the kitchen is usually inexcusably slow. This time the bar failed as well. read more

The service started out really good, drinks were prompt, appetizer was quick, food showed up in a decent amount of time, Never had to ask for a refill which is a huge plus, but all that glitters is not gold here... I got forgotten about right at the end... Waited for the check after asking for more than 10 minutes, so had to get up and go ask the hostess for it. So the wait staff was nice and friendly but the food was barely ok. We came with a large crowd which we attempted several time to make reservations for. Even tried the day of again to try and prep the staff for the size of the group. When we arrived no silverware was on the tables or even given to us until our food arrived over 1 1/2 hours after we got here. Then it was just tossed on the table for us to disperse ourselves. We did receive our drinks rather quick but that was the only thing quick. Most of our food arrived cold and mine was personally not very edible. I ordered a grilled shrimp salad. The lettuce was wilted and the dressing was sour. The shrimp was cold. We even had to ask several time during our hour and a half wait for more chips. Which were only refilled once. This restaurant is my ultimate favorite! The food is amazing, great quality as well, their drinks are also very well done, the service is outstanding. I do come here quite often so any recommendations that I will provide, is here at Que Pasa. The General Manager is a complete Sweet Heart! Her name is Laura! For anyone that comes to the place I usually recommend a Mexican Flag Margarita (JUMBO size it!) it's soothing and not as strong, it will definitely set the mood for the evening. There are two dishes that I adore (FoodGasm!) one it's called the SeaFood Wrap, there are small wraps. It tastes amazing with their special sauce. Now the second one is the one that I always get, it's called Mocajete. This monster of a dish is to die for! It comes with with specialty sauce, shrimp, chicken, chorizo, stake, nopal, grilled onions and a couple spices. Just writing this is making me hungry! Haha. We went to Que Pasa for a late lunch on a Friday. We were seated right away. They were about half full. The service was prompt, chips and salsa were outstanding. The waitress didn't write down our orders, and seemed in a hurry to take ours and get going. My wife specified "no guacamole please," but when her dish arrived there it was anyway. Not a big deal, but for a slow period it seemed to be a thoughtless error. My steak "gourmet burrito" was delicious. They are pretty stingy with the beef, but the taste was very good and it was more than enough to be filling. My wife did not enjoy her chicken enchilada as much. She said the meat was "too shredded, with the texture of tuna" and there wasn't much of it. We will go back again. There is room for improvement, but it was the best Mexican food I've had in the north county to date. read more

I'm going to level with you - I live in San Diego, and there are a lot of really good mexican food places there, especially given how close it is to Mexico. This place doesn't compare. It was recommended to us by the concierge at a hotel we weren't staying at which shall remain nameless, and it did not live up to the expectation. It's basically a fast-casual chain restaurant with a tex-mex menu. The food was passable if that was what you were looking for; it's not highly authentic or particularly unique, but you got what the menu said you were getting, and I'm sure plating was consistent. You want to know what wasn't consistent? The servers. We could observe the server who had the next section who was much more attentive to her tables than Nathan, the guy serving us. He seemed out of it, or that he thought he was too good to serve us. Our food took a long time coming out, so I think he might have forgotten to put in the order or something. Also, he forgot the signature slip when he ran our card. Just generally subpar service, especially at a place like this where I wouldn't think they are bringing in a lot of new people. TL; DR: Probably fine if you don't mind a fast casual mexican chain - not so fine if your a tourist looking for an experience. read more

Place is nice and cleaned. Doors open at 11am, I came in around 11:15, ordered the Salmon and apparently they were not ready so I waited about 25 for my food. When they finally gave me my food, the first taste of the salmon was cold and a bit undercooked, the rice underneath the salmon was cold. The only thing I liked was the two grilled shrimps they serve in the plate. I didn't want to eat cold food so I informed them that it was cold, the waitress comes back with an $18 check and a free margarita coupon. I said I'm not from around here I won't use your coupon.
