Never going back!! They were rude and unsanitary! They put product in my feet...scrubbed my feet and refused to rinse my feet when they came out of the dirty water!!! I asked them nicely if they would rinse my feet before putting the polish on. They said it wasn't included in my basic package. ???!!! I tried to reason with her. As I was out of town that week, I wasn't able to return to get my nails fixed until the day before the 2 week "guarantee". Don't get acrylic nails off here. They absolutely DESTROYED my nails. There are cracks and deep cuts in my nails and they are all broken, it's miserable. Just had the worst pedicure I have ever experienced. This is surprising because Queen nails has just reopened in Scotts Valley and I would expect them to be making a bit of an effort. Issues: Very unfriendly staff, did not rinse off my legs and feet after they were soaking in the dirty water to do the polishing process, they actually asked me if I would like a topcoat? Really? Minimal massage, and I'm talking maybe one or two minutes max. Did not make any effort to separate my toes in the drying process so I had to try and splay my feet out until the polish was semi dry. I've had good experiences here before, but last night was upsetting. I made pedicure appointments for myself and a friend. She had to wait a bit for her turn, but that wasn't a big deal. Unfortunately, we both were injured. My nail technician cut my big toenail too close to the nail bed. It hurt at the time, but especially hurts as I'm walking on it today. I am prone to ingrown toenails and am worried this will develop into one. My friend was injured when her nail tech scrubbed off a scab with the exfoliating sponge. I scheduled an appointment for my girlfriend at this nail salon. I thought it would be a nice relaxing experience. Unfortunately, even though she had an appointment the older woman in the spa was incredibly rude to her. My girlfriend is black and when a white woman walked in she was treated completely differently. The owner was very helpful and kind while my girlfriend was completely ignored. She became incredibly upset and was making up an excuse to leave. The other customer in there noticed and was being kind to my girlfriend, but she was to upset to stay and support the racist behavior. I am absolutely SHOCKED at the experience I had at this place yesterday; I have been getting my nails done here for 10 years and NEVER have I walked out of there with my nails looking this way. To begin, it was a pretty slow afternoon, but the lady who helped me ( her name is Lyn) was extremely scattered, didn't have her station set up or anything. Kept interrupting manicure to run in back & look for items/have coughing fits. Honestly I could tell she had VERY little experience doing nails. Also she is a recent hire. This salon should be more discerning of its employees!!! She skipped multiple steps on my acrylics, DID NOT re-shape them AT ALL!! & she knicked my finger with the drill a few times. Honestly they are somewhat uncomfortable to have on my fingers . I returned to speak with the manager, they refused to let me speak with her, told me I had to have the same tech (Lyn) "repair" my nails which I did not want of course, I asked for another tech in the salon to fix them, they told me no very aggressively & rudely. This was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had at a nail salon! I have been going to Queen Nails for roughly 4 years. The service is hit or miss but today was on a different level of unprofessional. We booked two 5:30 pedicures and I specifically said we needed to be on time because we had a meeting to get to at 6:30. The person in charge who spoke passable English said ok. They seemed short staffed so I brought up our timing issue. After almost 25 minutes we left because there was no available therapist and no one would give us a straight answer. They literally ignored us and spoke Vietnamese amongst themselves. The service is absolutely horrible. What's the point in even making an appointment then? On the phone they said a full set was $25 (really cheap for a fill set) so I went in to get a fill to be told it's $35 (not complaining, but still on the expensive side for a fill). Wow, I wasn't expecting the kinds of reviews I'm reading because I had the complete opposite experience. I came in as a walk-in and even though they were busy, they tried to seat me and were very apologetic that I had to wait. They smiled and tried be be very friendly to me and of course, in return I was just as friendly back. The manicurist did a great job on both my toe and fingernails. They even gave me a very nice massage with hot rocks. Most places just speed through the massage part. I found Pearly Q's comment interesting in calling the french manicure she received "weird", I actually have seen that method done in other places. I guess maybe it's only "weird" to someone who has not ever seen it that way but maybe it's more "different" than "weird". Anyhow, they all seemed happy to work there when I was chatting with them. They seemed like a community or very family-like. Maybe it seems like the boss is "pimping" as paulb mentions but I see it more as a cultural thing. I'm very had on my hands, and my polish stayed on for 3 weeks. It didn't chipped at all! She was very meticulous, but quick because they use a lighting quick machine. Loved it! The first few pedicures I got at Queen Nails were excellent; the techs were pleasant, pretty gentle, and did nice work. Then things started to go downhill. I was overcharged one time, and was once rushed out so they could get two friends in who wanted to sit together. The last time I went I had neglected my footsies for a while, and the extra work pissed the tech off so bad she practically tortured me in punishment. And I think she was talking smack about it as she dug and clipped mercilessly, ignoring my expressions of my discomfort. I totally agree with paula b wrt the owner. He sits there eating and watching sports on tv, not giving a crap or probably even giving a thought to what the women in the salon, i.e. his clients might be interested in watching. How about something gender neutral like Animal Planet, Comedy Central, the news. Nobody matters but himself! I don't want to watch fucking football while getting a pedicure. What a pig. I was very pleasantly surprised with their quality. I had a new set of french manicure tips put on 2 weeks ago at another nail place on SV Dr. and was looking for a quick fill. I knew I didn't want to go back to the place on SV Dr. as the gel was put on way too thick. The nail tech (sorry, didn't get her name) at Queen Nails showed me how the "old" (2 weeks new) tips were already coming off. Although it wasn't her fault, I was pretty irritated that I had paid for a new set 2 weeks ago and now she was saying I needed a new set. Anyways, since I always get my nails french manicured, she suggested I try the "Pink & White". I LOVE them!!! My nails look so natural and the male mgr. mentioned if anything should happen to them in the next 2 weeks, come on in and they'll take care of them. I'm happy to say, so far, so good. After experimenting with three or four different nails salons, and being sorely dissapointed each time, I realized that I has no other option but to start commuting from Capitola every two weeks to get my nails done by Henry.
