    Turkey cliifhanger, Hog wild sandwich
    Scott D.

Very good Texas style BBQ in a convenient spot. Plenty of seating inside and out. We stopped in for sandwiches and both the Turkey Clffhanger and the Hog Wild were tasty and good value for these days. Laid back vibe, friendly staff, good selwction of beers and bar drinks. Counter service

Talk to me, I love that sound Out of words when you're around Lift me from the ground I've been trying to come down On a high when you're around https://open.spotify.com/track/7kZVirTc3V6d4YWtu6RaAu?si=5MbBaFfdSJSkJyD-QOgbEQ ------------------- Listening to this was perfect for being here. These people lifted me from a place beyond hell. I appreciate them more than they know. I owe this island my life. In every sense of the word. I have screamed.... "Wwwwwwwhhhhhhyyyyy?????" There's never been an answer from my beloved sea until today. (Food was REALLY good too. Saw some cuties getting in their car so asked them if it was good... what to get...was advised I'd love it. Honestly don't remember the name of what it was but sure remember how he said , "you'll love it." And fuck yes. I loved it. It was the perfect jalapeño bun. All kinds of meat and I don't know what kind bc I was laughing too hard with Jesse. Brianna. You are such a kind sweet soul. You both may have saved me from bail and an embarrassing call to my best friend/soror sis/attorney. Virgil the Volvo is a reminder of your compassion. Thank you for saving this salty gal today. All of me salutes all of you. Namaste. *I'm going to market the shit out of these stickers..

Dropped into Queens BBQ for some dinner to go, I guess they're under new ownership but didn't disappoint at all! Full pound of sausage and a pulled pork sandwich... both awesome. Fantastic potato salad, and I make my own so candidly a little bit of a snob. Gouda mac & cheese was off the hook. Great local place and I think it's underrated for sure. Well worth it if you're a local, no doubt. If you're just visiting, very representative of really good Texas barbecue. Sorry to see the cowboy caviar go away, I was a fan.

Food was great! The customer service was good. Turkey, smoked jalapeño sausage and ribs are the bomb! Their french fries are amazing. Barbecued baked beans and dirty rice are also very good. They have stiffed drinks and I think for what you pay you great value. Sadly, they were out of regular brisket. It must sell very fast.

Sandy is my adopted grandma and is the sweetest lady ever. Southern hospitality and the ribs were incredible.

The bbq is good, but the green chili corn and the Texas caviar are amazing. Service is good and the atmosphere is very Texas

My favorite were the ribs. Cooked perfectly. Tender but not falling off the bone. Well trimmed. Great flavor. Basted lightly in a bbq sauce. The brisket was good and appears to be their most popular item (they run out frequently). But I've had other brisket that I like better. I like their bbq sauce and they gave an ample portion on the side. It's a small place and there is no eating inside although they have outdoor seating. It's counter service. And a big plus is you watch them carve and weigh your meat while the person at register keys in exactly what you owe. Process was friendly and expedient. I had to stop myself multiple times from going back to make sure we could try the other places on our list but this one was by far one of my absolute favorites. The service was amazing and very fast and while we didn't eat here the area to eat here was very cute and outside, which in Texas is my favorite. If you ever have the opportunity to stop in here and grab some tamales and brisket I HIGHLY recommend it!

So when I was looking for a place to eat somewhere on our trip home from Galveston, I knew this might be my best chance. I'd originally planned on just ordering a simple brisket sandwich, but as I looked at the menu, I felt like I wanted one of everything. I was really tempted to order a loaded baked potato, but because I'd be eating it in the car, I figured that might be a bit too messy, so I eventually went with Plan A. One bite into that thing and I knew I made the right decision. It was so juicy and so flavorful. Just the perfect lunch for what I was craving. And then to make this love story even better, later that day, I went to HEB. My HEB happens to have one of those BBQ restaurants inside of it, and it's never open when I visit because I always do my grocery shopping in the morning. But this particular visit was at about 4pm. And I opted to order the exact same thing: a brisket sandwich, so that I could compare the two. I'm sure this is not news to Smokin Z's or their fans, but this was the most lopsided competition I've experienced in a while. My visit to HEB only made me appreciate Smokin Z's more, as the HEB version tasted like something made by my 11 year old nephew. I'm embarrassed I even put the two head to head, as we're talking about a totally different weight class here.
