so I put off changing my oil for a very very long time because I know nothing about cars and I dreaded paying tons of money and wasting hours waiting in a dingy dirty room. but an upcoming road trip forced me to drive into Quick Oil on a Saturday afternoon. We've been here 3 times and have only had good experiences. Prices are medium for an oil change, BUT they top off all of your fluids (not just the oil). It's about $10 more than the BP across the street, but they're quick, honest, and I think the extra fluid top off probably makes up for most of the price difference. After having our shocks replaced with some independent scary mechanic who was dishonest and charged us an arm & a leg (and took foreeeeeeever to do it), we asked them how much they would charge to replace our shocks, and the price was half what we paid. Oops! We just recently took our car back here because our brakes were making noise, and they didn't try to dishonestly sell us new brake pads. They showed us that the guy who did our brake job (same indep. bad mechanic) didn't put on new hardware like he should've, and the hardware broke and was causing the noise. Instead of trying to sell us new rotors and brakes, they just sanded the rotors a bit and replaced the hardware. The labor, as I said, is about average for what you find in our area. I've had several instances where I've called mechanic shops for a quote, and this place charged significantly less...and it takes a fraction of the time because they have a large staff. As others said, nice waiting room, good customer service...we will remain happy. Oh yeah, and it's walking distance from home, so talk about convenient! Update: Don't go here for any major mechanic needs. New brakes or struts are probably fine, but our brakes were making noise forever and they kept wearing down. They couldn't figure out why. We finally went to a real mechanic (Gateway Auto) who quickly told us our disc brakes were barely working, so the front brake pads were compensating...which meant they were wearing down super fast and basically cutting groves which made the noise. We never felt these guys were dishonest, just not great mechanics. I mean, what would you expect from an oil change place? They're there to change your oil, not rebuild your whole car. read more

I recently had my brakes checked and the mechanic patiently explained everything to me and showed me everything he was talking about. I would not recommend this place at all. They have horrible customer service! The guy who was putting in my cabin filter damaged my car and when I told him instead of trying to fix it or take responsibility he started blaming me because he apparently had years of experience that means he's perfect. He also started talking in Spanish to other employees in front of me trying to figure out what he did wrong thinking I didn't speak Spanish. First off, i've been bringing both my cars here for the past 5-6 years, maybe longer. Always Oil Changes and a few maintenance things here and there. Always good service, nice people, and no BS. This last trip I brought my Jeep in for an oil change and asked for a quote on a Front Outer Tie Rod repair. It was bad, at least I thought it was.. The manager (Eladio I believe his name) as usual was very helpful and requested they take a look to determine the problem... I said, "No prob, but it's the Tie Rod (because I know everything)". A team of guys jumped on the issue and started checking out the problem. Shortly there after, Eladio tells me they found the issue, it's the front left Bearing Hub Assembly that's bad. I was relived knowing this is an easy and affordable fix. The next moment, we're under the lift. Eladio and the Mechanic are showing me how my Tie Rods and Bushings still look pretty good, tugging on the Tie Rods to show there was no movement and how they determined it was the Hub assembly. Then we chatted bushings and Transmission, I won't bore you with details, they were tips and service advice. The very next morning (I dropped it off an hour before close the day before), I rec'd a message that my car was ready. To sum it up, I had a Bearing Hub Assembly Replacement, Alignment, Tire Rotation, and an oil change, for what I thought, was a very fair price. Cheers fellas, you're a class act over there. The Quick Oil on Armitage is great but its a hassle driving from the burbs to the city to get a quality oil change. now there is a new location open located on 2672 N river road and Grand Ave really close to Genes and Judes hot dogs. The service there matches the Armitage location and in some cases exceeds. The River Grove location is super clean and professional. read more

I've been taking my car here for almost a decade. Before the holidays my car broke down and I had it towed to this location. The tow truck driver abided by the signage and didn't block the fence/driveway. I left a detailed voice message for the shop explaining the situation. It is not unusual for somebody to drop a car after hours and leave the keys in the dropbox, or within the vehicle. Instead of checking the plates to determine this was a loyal customer in need of repair, and/or listening to the voicemail they had my vehicle towed. I had to pay $225 to get my car out of the tow lot, and then on top of that I had to pay another tow truck driver to take it to a different body shop... One who wouldn't have me towed for NO reason. The shop manager was unapologetic and not helpful. They told me they did not have my car towed but the tow company claims that they did receive a call to have it removed from the property. It's very disappointing especially during this time of year when money is tight. I will not be returning. Sun auto on Belmont offers far superior customer service. Hugo is the man! read more

I have used them for my Ford Explorer in the past with excellent results. In fact they told me about a leak in my radiator that I suspected earlier. Fast forward today I brought in my 2011 S550 with 135,000 miles and knowing that my air filter and other components were changed out at 5,000 miles prior I was wondering if they were going to tell me that I needed something extra besides an oil change like my Mercedes dealer does frequently. Everything checked out as I expected. The price for synthetic and extra oil was a total of $120.00. This may seem like a lot but the dealer on this car is double this. My owners manual says to change oil and filter every 10,000 miles. I do mine every 5,000 miles just to be sure. Mercedes does not know any number below $1,000.00 for service. So far I am happy with Quick Oil. read more

Absolutely Awful!! One of the worst experiences of my life, and they almost ruined the engine in my car. I went there for a basic oil change and I let them know that as soon as they were done, I was getting on the thruway for a 500 mile trip. I asked them to double check everything please. They were too busy trying to sell me multiple services that I didn't need, rather than doing their job properly. They told me I needed new wipers when my wipers were brand new, they told me I needed an air filter when I clearly didn't, and they told me I needed my transmission fluid changed. Kia just told me a few weeks earlier that I didn't need it changed! I was already regretting coming here, but it was too late by then. When they were through, I got on the road and headed out of town. About 60 miles into my trip the oil light went on! Luckily I was near a rest stop and pulled over. I checked the oil and it was completely dry, there was NO oil in the car!! Immediately I knew that they did something wrong. Now, I'm stuck in a blizzard, in the middle of nowhere, by myself, and my roadside assistance cant make it for 5 hours because of the storm. I'm livid! After finally getting towed to a nearby mechanic, he noticed right away that they forgot to put the rubber seal (o ring) back into place when securing the oil filter. Because of this, all of the oil leaked out all over the engine. The rubber seal was still sitting next to it after all that time. I had to stay in a hotel and couldn't get back on the road until the next day because they wanted to make sure there was no damage to the engine. Luckily there wasn't. Throughout this whole time I was in contact with Quick oil trying to see what they were going to do about it. They did pay for the damage but not without threatening legal action and arguing with the mechanic who was fixing their mistake. I would never take my car there again, that was my first and last visit. They are overpriced, they rush their work, they don't care about the customer, they try to push services on you that aren't needed to get more money out of you. There are places in Chicago that are half the price and they take their time. Such a little mistake but with a lot of consequences, and that is changing oil 101, its all they do there. I'm lucky the damage was minor, but because of their carelessness, I was put into a terrible situation! STAY AWAY! read more

The last time I was there, they had me plug my tires because one had a nail leak.( I asked if I needed to replace my tires then they said no) Two weeks later I went back again because of tire pressure I was recommended to replace my tires all together? The employees were nice, professional and I didn't feel like they were trying to up sell me. I got one of the good oil changes and my power steering fluid changed per their suggestions. I came in to get my tires rotated. The service was fast and professional. I read the few negative reviews they have and I couldn't disagree more. My old 2003 Ford Focus has a dozen things wrong with it and they didn't try to sell me anything. The lug nuts that were on there were short, rusty, open ended, garbage that I knew were hard to get off and they didn't complain or try to charge me more. They overfilled the oil in my car. Not sure if they actually performed the engine flush I had them do. They did show me the oil (on the dip)after it was filled but isn't it supposed to look clean after new oil? Not even the routine fluid check. I found this out a month later when I checked the fluids and they were seriously out of whack. I went to Quick Oil because I had a loss in the family and needed (at the time) someone else to handle the maintenance. Bad move. read more

I have an old beemer - 1995 - and whenever I take it to a place like Oil Express or Merlin or whatever, they put me through it on all the extra's "i really should check/do" b/c my car is old. Found myself needing an oil change and my A/C recharged with freon. I read the reviews here and decided to give Quick Oil a try -- it's in my neighborhood and I like all of the references to "inexpensive". They did a great job - no upsell, just oil change, A/C recharge. I was prepared to spend around $150 for the A/C recharge - they charged $85 plus $30 for the freon. A deal as far as I'm concerned. They were friendly, prompt (I left my car for a couple of hours and it was ready when promised), and did a great job. I will return. read more

This was my "go to" place for getting good oil changes at a decent price, but my most recent and last experience there was infuriating. I went in for an oil change and it was recommended that I get some other services done, which I turned down for the moment. I was told that if I didn't get the recommended services done my "car will start leaking." Within one day, I noticed oil had leaked on the ground in my garage. I eventually had to add 3 more quarts of oil and made an appointment with my mechanic who informed me that the drain bolt had not been tightened appropriately. He stated, "It sounds like they thought since you're a female you'd go running back to them and get the service they recommended." When I contacted Quick Oil about the issue and spoke with the assistant manager, I was told I could "get a discount on my next service, it seems like maybe the guy had a bad day." I requested a full refund due to losing almost all of the oil I paid for, which was declined by the manager. I am completely disappointed with the service and Quick Oil's inability to take responsibility for this issue. Horrible business. read more

I definitely recommend this particular shop. I you can get a full service oil change for just over 31 dollars. It is a mechanics job to sell you on something your car could use but doesn't necessarily need and you always have a choice. The waiting room looks out through clear glass into the garage where they are working on your car so you can see whats going on the entire time. The mechanic took out my air filter and showed me a new one and the difference was pretty brutal. It was nice to have somebody show you something as apposed to just tell you something. Also, It was incredibly fast. Remember it is always your choice to do more. Would you just let a surgeon cut you up with out a second opinion? read more

Just got an oil change here and it is solid. Probably not the cheapest ($33.99 - sounds like the price recently went up) but very fast and good service. I really wanted an oil change done today because I'm due for one and have a long drive tomorrow. I called three other places and none of them could change my oil today, and in fact, most of them said they couldn't do it for a few days or until the weekend. But Quick Oil was able to do the oil change on the spot. Will probably go back for future oil changes. read more

I asked them why they didn't inform of the bad oil and I've just had the oil changed? He the worker said idk, wtf?!? This has to be the worst place to service your car in Chicago. Let me tell you about my experiences at quick oil. First off they always try to drive the cost up by saying your vehicle need this and it needs that but I noticed that the 2 times ive taken my vehicle there they would say I needed my engine belt changed. At the time I owned 2 vehicles the first one they told me I needed my belt changed I said no thanks. Now prior to this Ive had no issues with my vehicle. So when i leave Quick Oil after getting serviced i may have gotten 2 blocks away from them guess what happens my belt came off. I was so furious I went back and demanded they either put it back or replace it with a new one. They put it back and claimed they had no knowledge of what happened. So i thought maybe it was a coincidence. A few months pass by I take my other vehicle for service a fairly new vehicle and guess what they tell me I needed a belt. so again I refused. I thought to myself this is a fairly new ride i looked at the belt myself and knew it wasnt as bad as they claim. I thought to myself this better not be dejavu again. I try to look at the mechanics but theres one in the pit that u really cant see. So after getting serviced I leave and this time Ive gotten further im in Berwyn and guess what happens again my BELT CAME OFF. I was so pissed and furious again but this time i couldnt drive back because i was to far and without your belt its almost impossible to steer your vehicle. So I call everyone i know to tell them to avoid that horrible spot so I happen to call my sister and guess what i was surprised to find out that her ride went through the same ordeal after leaving quick oil. Im curious to know how many people have experienced this at quick oil without having any knowledge of what there doing. They have no respect for your property and what you have worked so hard to get for them to treat you like shit, for PROFIT! Beware of this spot if you do decide to take it to this spot. If they ever ask you this question your vehicle needs a belt just know if u look not knowledgeful they will take advantage. And if your belt came they did it purposely so u can come back to them. We go to this place only when we're in a bind. They are quick at changing your oil, but also quick to point out hundreds of dollars worth of work. We took it there this morning for our car that has less than 10k miles on it and has had regular oil changes. They tried to sell my wife on a complete engine flush because the oil was "dirty." Engine experts say most cars will NEVER need a complete engine flush. Spend your time looking elsewhere for someone that's not trying to scam you. read more

I have gone here for years! I couldn't trust them more! Just going for an oil change has them checking my car over entirely - checking the tires, the lights, the engine.... They have caught lights out that I didn't know about, service problems, the works. I change oil every 2500 miles just to make sure that everything works and besides, it isn't that expensive and they catch any problems so I never have any breakdowns. They never have tried to sell me any product I don't need. They always show you the filters, etc so you understand what needs changing. They also tell me to come in and they check my tires, etc over before I take a trip..for free! Just so that I am safe on the road. I always get good service and good smiles! I also use their mechanics and they have solved many l problems for me at good prices. Best part, they tell me if something has to be done immediately for safety reasons...and what can wait and how long (and what to watch for).And they guarantee their work. The place is spotless! And they are very quick and professional.They have never made we wait and waste my time. If the work takes time, I go home and they call just when they say they will. I have been a loyal customer for one year now. I had a terrible experience yesterday. Immediately after getting out of my car the guy bombards me with questions about extra services and the cost. I say no, thank you, just an oil change today. I go sit in the lobby when the same guy approaches me about my air filter. It wasn't even in need of replacing. I again say, no not today. I was beginning to feel like I was at Jiffy Lube again. This constant bombardment of trying to get me to spend money with them. He returns the air filter and promptly comes back to tell me my coolant fluid is low. He tells me it will be $8.00 to top it off. Fine I say, figuring it was important. I sat there and watched him put a funnel inside where the coolant belongs but never pours the coolant! He waits five seconds and puts the funnel away, all while whistling of course. He thought he was so slick and didn't know I was watching in horror! He closes the hood and tells the cashier my car is ready. I storm up to the cashier because now I'm livid. I quickly let the cashier know that I witnessed this entire scam and that I'd better not be charged. All he could do was look at the floor. He didn't even apologize for the incident! My dad goes here and decided to go get car maintenance done. HORRIBLE IDEA!!!! I have been there more than I want to. In the past month I have needed to make 5 trips. I do not live near the area and it isn't of convenience to me. Took my Impala to another shop and I was told that a radiation flush was needed because it was dirty n not full. This surprised me because I had gotten a radiation flush at quick oil. Today I decided to go to Mobile 1 Oil Express and they said I needed a transmission flush! The same day I got the radiation flush I did the transmission flush. The Mobil 1 guy told me it was black and smelled like it was burnt. He told me to go back to quick oil n have them do it over. So once again another trip to quick oil. I do not recommend Quick Oil for extensive car maintenance. Maybe just an oil change would b fine. I recommend Mobil 1 Oil Express though they r honest. I had gone to do a tune up at quick oil, I asked how much a transmission flush would b n they gave me X amount. I went back 2 days later (went on Saturday the first time, went back on Monday) and was told a higher price for the transmission flush. I think because they see I am a young guy they might want to take advantage of me. Overall have been having a bad experience here. Mobil 1 Oil Express is much better and they do everything including transmission flush in front of u rather than pulling the car up where customers cannot enter due to insurance stuff read more
