Absolutely love this place BUT their potatoes suck...even the potatoes that I get from the store are way better than theirs...if they changed this one minor detail we would probably come here more often...we have been here at least 10 times in the past year hoping that the potatoes would get better but sadly they haven't. The preamble to dining in this area is that there are not a lot of strong choices. That being considered I would not say don't go to Quincy's. What I would say it could be much better. The concept is good. Steak (filet) Sunday-Thursday and Prime Rib Friday-Saturday. All you choose is the size and desired temperature. That's it - simple with so much potential. The decor is old school steakhouse including a beautiful wooden bar. Beverage choices are not extensive but completely adequate. And it's popular, we had a group of six and knew to call ahead. We had our table reserved and ready when we arrived a bit early. But, if you do only one thing, you need to do it exceptionally. I ordered my 9 oz filet medium because I had been warned they often undercook. I prefer a true medium rare. What I got was certainly rare on the verge of blue. Because they were so so busy I didn't even attempt to send it back for a little more time on the grill. Service was understaffed for the number of customers. Servers did their best but were clearly overwhelmed. Just fair warning as you're not likely to find a better steak in the area. read more

What a great place! We wandered in on a Friday night and we were surprised that they only had prime rib on Friday and Saturday evenings. No problem. The staff was super busy, and made sure we were taken care of. Enjoyed every second. Went back the following evening after the dinner rush to have a nightcap, and had a great conversation with the manager. She runs a great business and will have much success, I'm sure. My husband had an old fashioned which he said was excellent. Our server was also the bartender and she was friendly and did a great job taking care of so many tables and of the bar too. My family is in town for a funeral. My wife, brother and I decided to go to Quincy's for dinner. We didn't have a reservation, but the staff were very welcoming and friendly and got us a nice booth. Everyone was incredibly nice to us and our order was taken promptly. It's pretty neat that they only serve one thing here. Filet with potato, bread and a wedge salad. On Friday and Saturday, they have prime rib. Our filets were cooked just how we liked and were delicious, as were the sides. Very charming old time ambience and great service and food had us all agreeing we made the right decision. I'd definitely recommend Quincy's if you're in town. read more

We were in town visiting from Colorado Springs and Quincy's had pretty good reviews, so we decided to check them out. The restaurant is beautiful inside and we loved sitting in the private booths. We were a little shocked when we found out that they only service one meal a day...BUT when we found out it was bacon wrapped filet mignon, we were happy campers. They also had mac-n-cheese for the kiddos. The steak was cooked perfectly and had great taste. The steak comes with a baked potato and cantaloupe. However, the cantaloupe piece was so small it was more like a garnish. They lost a star, because of the service. A big group showed up and it was like we were forgotten. I was finally asked if I wanted a drink refill after I had finished my meal and no on ever asked us how the meal was. Over all it was a delicious meal with a nice ambiance. If we visit Monte Vista again, we will definitely eat hear again. P.S. The other meal they have another night is Prime Rib! read more

I enjoy the ambiance. The drinks are great and at a great price too. The people friendly but sometimes you get forgotten. All these things are not habitual, just hiccups. My only gripe. But it's a big one..................I enjoy a seasoned and grilled steak with the marks that show it and that I can taste on the outsides it's gross to see blood and white fat that is still stretching from the flesh when I go in to cut it. I don't know how this is cooked. It seems like oven to me and my guess is minimal salt if any at all. I get people have different opinions on meats but if I served that to someone in my kind I'd feel terrible, and yet the establishment goes well. And I myself love to visit it even if I bring the meat home and cook it myself it just give it to my dog. The salad and baked potatoes fill MD up. I don't eat large portions though. All that to say. Be prepared to enjoy the people, ambiance, and even the food- BUT also- BE prepared to ask it to be cooked more than usual and season it yourself. read more

I'm reluctant to give this review because they're already super busy on prime rib nights. We've been to all five Quincy's and the Monte Vista Quincy's is my favorite. The prime rib is consistently very good. One time it was a little on the tough side but that's not bad considering the dozen times it was tender. Their baked potatoes are always top quality. I liked the Merlot better in Leadville. The manager there, Elizabeth, said they have switched brands. Maybe that change is coming to Monte. Update: The merlot is the same as in Leadville now and has been for a while. Tip: we gave up on parking on the street near the restaurant. Seldom is space available. I was pleasantly surprised! Outside doesn't look that big but once inside it's a lot bigger than I thought it would be. The Filet Mignonette was seasoned perfectly and salad and potato were great. This restaurant does steak fabulous and that's all they do. Even my boyfriend who doesn't like steak customarily said it was really good. Probably one of the higher class restaurant San Luis Valley. It has the feel of an old west saloon mixed with an English pub with the bar and the dining area. It is a steakhouse with a fixed menu. During the week you get filet mignon, Friday Saturday nights are always prime rib. The bar is a little bit light on scotches for my taste, But they have the most popular brands. They sure know how to cook their meats. Their wedge salad is non-negotiable dressing, but it's very creditable. You will come all way both satisfied and happy. read more

We decided that we should go out and try something a little nice since we were on vacation, shake things up a bit. We waited 30 min after being asked how many of us there were, watched many other groups come in and get seated before us, the same amount of people, only older. We were then asked again if we were still waiting to be seated, and then had to wait 30 more minutes before deciding to leave and go eat some food. We have heard great reviews on Quincy Steak restaurant over the past years. We finally were in a small town, Monte Vista, where they were located. The best Fillet Mignon I have ever ordered in a restaurant. It was perfection, juicy, tender and so flavorful. To top that off it was only $10.95 for a 6oz. It was so delicious, I wish I would have ordered the 9oz. The dinner came with baked potato, which San Luis Valley is known for their potatoes, so it too was tasty, cold and crisp iceberg lettuce wedge along with fresh bread. Drinks are very inexpensive and the service was excellent. I wish we had a Quincy Steak restaurant near us! My husband is a huge steak lover and he totally agreed with me. read more

When we arrived at Quincey's in Monte Vista and had to unit 15 minutes, no sweat there, especially when we're seated in about 10 minutes. Hostes, was very nice and the place is very clean! Quincey's is decorated with stained glass windows and a pressed tin ceiling with turn of the century lights and lamps, very nice. The only item they have on Friday & Saturday is prime rib, kinda hoped they had the filets as well. Server was nice and prompt, took our drink orders (no alochol for us). Wedge salad with their homemade dressing was very good, simple but tasty! The prime rib was prepared very well, and the baked potato was home grown in the San Louis Valley all with warm ciabbata bread, very delicious. We split a carrot cake, yes, it was boxed. Maybe they have someone in town that can make fresh cakes and cheesecake. I give Quincey's 4.5 stars, they earned it! Next time I'm in town, I'll definitely be back!! read more
