We bought a 2016 VW Golf SportWagen from Quirk VW and had an overall positive experience. Their documentation fee is also hundred dollars cheaper than Colonial VW of Medford (this fee isn't regulated so dealerships charge differently). We worked with Vadim and loved his enthusiasm in a... Russian sort of way---subdued, all-business, and a quirky (no pun intended) sense of humor. The few negative experiences were the fact that the dealership didn't have a water fountain or water bottles available. Vending machine was available, but we didn't have any cash. Car shopping can take hours so this was annoying. Also, their Finance Manager reeked of cigarette smell. Though he was very courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. If we're shopping for another VDub, we'll most likely come back here again! read more

I went to Quirk this last weekend on a crumby Sunday afternoon and was greeted by a very friendly and sincere Sales Consultant (Al Whelan). He was polite, well dressed and made us feel at ease immediately. We were impressed by the showroom, the selection of cars and also the great roads in the area where we were taken for a test drive. I came in looking to get a second car for my household, something perhaps economical, but ended up following my heart and taking the Golf GTI 2010 out for a test drive. Our Sales Consultant knew an enormous amount about the car and features and was very thorough in explaining to us the different options available. I fell in love with the car and came back to the dealership to discuss pricing and models that were in stock with the specific specs we were looking for. Quirk had the exact car we were looking for and promptly brought the car over from where it had just gotten off the dock a few days earlier. Al was able to give us a number of different pricing options dependent on our down payment. The next day, which was also a public holiday (MLK), Quirk was open and had been able to prepare the car, register it and also give the car a beautiful wax. I picked up the car about 24 hours after shaking hands on the deal and had a fully registered auto with new plates. Although I have not experienced the service department at this point of time, I can certainly vouch for the Sales Department. If you are in the market for a new VW, pay a visit to Quirk and ask for Al Whelan. He is an honest and terrific fellow that will work hard for your business. read more

The service is fast and efficient (for sales). I recommend Mark Gallagher. I have now purchased 2 cars from him and he is very hepful and accomodating. Everyone we have dealt with in the process was great. 5 stars for service. Now as far as repairs, thats where they lose a few points... the service deparment is usually backed up, and are a tad rough around the edges (I know, it is what it is, right?) I couldn't have asked for a better experience! The minute I walked towards the front door, I was greeted with 3 smiling faces. One of the smiling men walked toward me and introduced himself (Joyce) and asked how he could help me. I told him the exact car that I had been looking for since the middle of August that no other dealership, in my neck of the woods had, the 2015 vw eos. Since Joyce new I was in the market for a new car he suggested I take a look at the 2016 vw eos that just arrived in the lot. This car was everything I wanted with a lower price tag than I was willing to spend. And really this review is specifically reflective of my experience working with Marc. I've never interfaced with anyone in an auto body service shop that went so above and beyond as Marc. From continuously texting me with updates to working to make sure I had transportation to and from the Red Line and seeing whether the team was able to expedite the work, to even working with the City of Boston to make sure I had a parking pass for my loaner car, Marc made what is typically an inconvenient aspect of car ownership as easy and pleasant as possible. He made me feel like my problems were now his problems. The reason I gave 4 and not 5 is because of the few times I worked with anyone else, the experience was not to the same excellent bar Marc set. I've purchased a number of cars over the years and I have to say this was my best car buying experience. I was looking for a 40th Anniversary Edition GTI and had reached out to nearly every VW dealership around. Jason at Quirk not only got back to me quickly but let me know that they had one on a boat in transit that happened to be the exact spec I was looking for. As we all know the market is a bit crazy right now and on top of that this car has a limited production run of 1,500 cars. Every other dealership I spoke with was asking $3,000 - $6,000 above MSRP. When I asked what they were asking I was told the car would be selling at MSRP. Price is one thing but even more important was that throughout the process there was absolutely zero pressure and I was given a very fair value on my trade. I offered to put a deposit before the car arrived and was told that they didn't hold peoples money and they reserved the car for me none-the-less. I had to wait several weeks for the car to arrive but I was kept in the loop on it's progress. I would definitely work with Quirk (and Jason) again in the future. read more

I went to Quirk last minute when I was driving through the area and needed a repair and couldn't make it to my usual dealer, and I was actually really impressed! The guys at the desk were really helpful. I didn't know I could bring a vw that I bought somewhere else to their shop but Chris assured me that it happens all the time and that it wasn't an issue so that I didn't feel like a nuisance. The repair was cheaper than I expected and they didn't need any parts to fix it so I was in and out in less than an hour. I will be coming here for repairs from now on! My boyfriend and I drove an hour away from home to get to Quirk. There is a VW dealership here on Cape Cod, but mark-up as soon as you cross the bridges is ridiculous. We did a lot of research online and it looked like we would be able to get a better deal a little further from home. I've been looking for a while now to find something to replace my 2008 Scion xD, and both of us wanted something with a little more pick up. So we drove to Quirk with a 2015 GTI SE in mind. We got to the lot and immediately met Joyce, our salesman. Very nice, professional and took us right to the car we were looking for. We took a test drive around town and onto the highway and I could tell right away I wanted the car. We went inside to chat about price and finance terms. Joyce asked what kind of pricing we'd be comfortable with and we gave him a range. When he came back with options, we were put out - the monthly payment was way out of our range with a pretty high interest rate. So Joyce went back to the desk and talked to the sales manager, Xavier. Both came back and we went over our options and expectations, and it felt like they were really trying to make this sale happen for me. I know they're in the business of making money, but they worked very hard to make a deal that met somewhere in the middle so that we could be comfortable with our monthly payment. Once we settled on something comfortable, we met John from finance. John explained the terms and went over our warranty options. He guided us through the Purchase and Sales and all the paperwork and got us ready to go quickly and easily. Joyce, Xavier and John really made this a great experience. I was super nervous as I am pretty conservative with my spending and a new car is always a little intimidating. They really made it easy and I left feeling much better and more calm. My fiance and I picked up my leased 2016 VW E-Golf today and I'm loving it so far! Vadim was fantastic, very knowledgeable about the car and helpful every step of the way. GM Jason walked us through the lease vs. purchasing options, clearly going through the numbers so that we could see the pros and cons of each option and make an informed decision. The whole process was quick and easy, we test drove and signed initial paperwork Wednesday, then finalized everything and picked up the car today. Typical car salesman. If you aren't familiar with the process avoid this place. To start inflated price a thousand dollars from their website price to create "a deal" for some poor uneducated soul. Once a deal can't be reached due to overpriced cars and the client chooses to walk away... oh wait there is the car dealer chasing after that lost customer. No explanations of general features on the car or any care given to the car prior to pick-up besides the good old wash and vacuum which they over embellish and call it "detailed". Of course prior to the sale full of empty promises and useless explanations. You pay $12,000 and change for a used car that you later (not even a week) notice rust spots and the excellent accommodating salesman gives you touch up paint to take care of yourself something that they didn't have to fix because they sold the car. Oh and recommended on my next oil change to replace the water pump and timing belt, why this wasn't done prior to purchasing? One I can't get an answer to... besides the one "its not broke yet". VW are excellent cars to bad you have to deal with them to get one! read more

If I could give this dealership zero stars I would. We called in advance and scheduled an appointment to purchase a new Volkswagen Atlas. We spent four hours with Vincent signing all of the paperwork, submitting the down payment, doing the insurance/registration paperwork, etc. They drove the car around for us to inspect before purchase. We went home with the expectation that we would return in two days to pick up the car. The next morning we received a call telling us that the car was sold earlier in the day before we completed the paperwork. We are beyond angry. I've just bought a new GTI at Quirk VW and for the most part found the overall experience quite positive. My initial contact with them was via an internet inquiry and I promptly received an email response which linked me to a web page which provided a comprehensive description of the vehicle and a price quote. The price was a good one as verified by Edmunds, ConsumerReports and KellyBlueBlook; also no other dealership in the area (I checked with many) could match both the price and had a car in-hand (some had one or the other but not both). A series of email exchanges ensued with the internet mgr who promptly responded to the questions I posed. So, on the last day of the month, I journeyed to Quirk to buy that car. I pulled into the available parking space right next to my prospective new car. This was refreshing since I had shown up at 2 other VW dealerships and had been told that mysteriously and coincidentally the car had been sold "the night before" (in a driving rainstorm?). After a couple minutes a cheerful Quirk sales person came out to talk about the car in a knowledgeable manner. The test drive route was great; a windy road through Blue Hills and then a jaunt on the highway. There was no negotiations on price since I felt the quoted price was very good. I was trading in my car and this is the one part of the buying experience which was mildly negative (hence the 4 stars and not 5). The initial trade-in offer was made by Quirk in the form of a spread-sheet which included the new car price, financing, and a one line entry for the trade-in value. It was presented to me as a fait-accompli and I felt somewhat steam-rolled in the way it was being presented. I felt that the trade-in negotiations should have been handled differently, as a separate negotiations and kept apart from the other components of the sale. Anyways, I rejected that initial offer and was satisfied with their 2nd offer. The financing process went smoothly. I wasn't prepared to buy the car that day, but they locked me into the low APR and said I could come back 2 days later and re-do the financing contract when I came back to pick up the car. That process went as advertised. So, all and all, I was pleased by the process. The showroom is quite nice, my sales guy (Ken) was knowledgeable and affable, and all people I interacted with were competent and professional.. But before you go to any dealership, do your homework on the Net and via the phone. Remember these sayings: "Knowledge is strength and Buyer Beware". read more

They will tell you your car is fine and that you can come back during the week (which is what I had to do) but I was able to keep the rental for a bit longer than I needed because I travel a lot. read more

I was asked to write a review here, they did not coerce me into making it positive and I respect that. I recently leased a 2016 GTI. I went in looking for exactly that. I had even talked to another Volkswagon dealership about the same model. They found what I wanted from their Manchester location and paired me with Sonia for a test drive. She was great. We geeked out about cars and how I specifically wanted Apple CarPlay in the vehicle, hence why the 2016 was imperative vs the 2015 year end savings models. When we got back, I wasn't even planning/ready to put anything down but they made an offer I couldn't refuse and we had a deal. It was so good in fact that I brought my sister there several days later to lease another vehicle because I knew she would be in good hands. I write a 4 star vs a 5 star review because of several hiccups along the way and in the past. I like this dealership because of their proximity. Though when I had brought my last car there to be serviced just over a month prior to making this invites end, I informed them of my intentions on a 2016 vehicle. They pretty much ignored that in an attempt to get me to sink more money into a car I was planning on trading into them. This and also the mishandling of me going from a financed car into a leased car/having to come back to get an inspection sticker, led to the loss in a star for my entire review of the dealership. Sonia also made the new car experience personal for me. When they brought my car down from NH it was still wrapped in plastic. She sent photos of the unwrapping process and got me really excited to break it in. They also never seemed pushy with their sales tactics which I really enjoy. Everything seemed pretty straight forward. Overall, buying/leasing a car never is an easy feat but these folks make it as easy as they are able to and that's great to me! read more

They do their best to make the deal happen for you. My husband & I have worked with other dealerships, VW & other brands, over the years and Quirk VW is the only one we can say is as hassle-free as car dealerships come. For the last 4 cars we've leased/bought John P. in Finance has been our primary contact. He knows the cars in & out, he knows financing options in & out and explains them really well. He would ask you want vehicle & options you like and then explains what's feasible and what's economically a sound option or not. He would ultimately leave the decision to you but he'd make sure you understand how much you have to pay & what you get for your money. John is also very polite & pleasant. Having just bought a CC six months ago, we already knew the prices inside and out because it got totaled in an accident and we had to fight with our insurance company on settlement. Saw one online and decided to call on it. Our salesperson worked out a great deal over the phone, all we needed to do was go down and ck the vehicle out. It was exactly what it said it was. They replaced the rims and certified it for the price we agreed on. I have heard 'things' about this dealership but I was impressed with their efficient service. This was the worst car buying experience I have ever had. This review is in regards to my purchase in Sept. 2020. In essence, because I went with my own financing, the dealership and it's sales staff jerked me around for a whole two weeks. The paperwork was messed up buy the dealer to strongarm me into going with their financing. If you don't believe me, I pretty much confirmed that with the 3rd salesman I HAD to deal with(Jason). The sales staff are dismissive, rude, and in my opinion, "shady weasels" when they make promise to "do their best". If you have to buy a VW, Go elsewhere. Even the owner won't respond to my plea to talk to him directly. And when there was a chance to talk to him via e-mail, they quickly changed their response on my direct review of their web site and won't even talk to me. It's taken almost a month for me to calm down to even write this bad of a review so,....take it for what worth. read more

My one experience with Quirk VW was not positive. I called early on a recent Saturday morning to inquire about purchasing a new Atlas that day. The salesperson who answered the phone was clearly in the middle of breakfast (he sounded like he was chewing on the phone) and sounded annoyed at having to answer my basic questions about which colors and options were currently on the lot, etc. He did not offer any information to help get me into a new vehicle and did not even invite me to visit the showroom to discuss my options or test drive a vehicle. I was so put off by this brief interaction that I chose instead to go to another local VW dealership--who beat Quirk's advertised price on a new Atlas that same day. So after my girlfriend called and CONFIRMED with the GENERAL MANAGER about a certain car being certified pre owned, she traveled specifically from Buffalo, NY to see it. After the test drive, the sales associate tried to sell me on additional warranties offered by the dealership. I asked him if that coverage started after the certified pre owned coverage ended. He then told me that the "sticker guys" had messed up and put the certified pre owned sticker on the wrong car. However the listing on the website also stated certified pre owned...very shady. We left when he didn't want to honor what was originally advertised. The visit was a complete waste of time and anyone that has had a similar experience should report this dealership and their deceptive practices to the BBB and the their local FTC Consumer Protection Dept. read more

I did not buy my used 2004 VW Beetle convertible from Quirk of Braintree because they did not have the year I was looking for. The salesperson Pat was very helpful. I tried a 2006 Beetle convertible in February of 2010. It was freezing but I had to drive the Beetle with the top down and Pat, the salesperson was very accommodating. I didn't buy the 2006 or above years because they are 5 cylinder engines and I am not that familiar with them. I like the standard, 4, 6 or V8 engines. I did my homework and research on the VW Beetle Convertible. Unfortunately, everything I read about the Beetles that were assembled in Mexico (2003 - 2009) all have electrical and transmission problems and wing problems. I wanted the car any way. I researched how much everything would cost if it did go on the car and I bought the dealership extended warranty for 4 years 50K miles. The money I paid for that warranty has already paid for itself in the repairs that have been made on the car! (Rebuilt cylinder head, water pump, electrical work, and rent-a-car all totaling $4007.23) Mr. Tony Romano, Manager, Mr. Bruce Kelly, Assistant Manager, and Mr. Patrick Owen and Mr. Patrick Foley, service consultants, make-up the service team at VW Quirk in Braintree. I have dealt with them all and they are professional, courteous, knowledgeable, sympathetic, and funny! I am amazed at their high level of professionalism. It isn't easy to keep your cool when you have to deal with an owner who is upset because the repairs are going to cost a bundle! Gentlemen, keep up the good work! Oh, and one more thing. I have read the reviews by others on Yelp. And I find it suspect that a service person would suggest unnecessary work be done on a vehicle or suggest to that person that their life may be in danger if the repairs aren't done! Not only is it wrong it is illegal! Also, the guy who bought the executive car David d. Hey Dave, do the research! Never ever buy a used executive or rent-a car or lease car! Heck, when I got my rent-a-car, I drove over a curb, ran into a curb and lost the hub-cap and drove the car (4 cylinder - 90 miles-an-hour on the highway!) Why should I care what happens to the car. DO NOT TRUST THEM. My sales experience was them was pretty good. I bought the car in late July 2016 it was the car we wanted. My bad review stems from the fact that when I bought the car, I was told that the Quirk Volkswagen would do a free oil change after 3 months or until I got to 5700 miles. (it was a used car) I took them at their word and surely enough when I got to 5700 miles I called them up to see if I could get the free oil change and they said yes. My husband brought the car in and they told him that there was no free oil change in their system and that he would have to pay for it. Also, I bought an extra key for the car just in case and the third key never worked! THIS.. is why I don't trust them. Why would you tell a customer something and not go through with it? We had planned to buy another car in 5 years. NEVER AGAIN at quirk. If they lie about one thing, who knows what else they will lie about??? TRUST IS EVERYTHING. This is related to the service department. I have brought my car in trying to find an issue and it's been in 3 times and they can't find out why it's happening. There are apparently no senior mechanics at this location. They just look at the check engine light code and replace what is tells them. Chasing the symptoms but not the root problem. ..... Until of course when the warranty runs out, then I'm sure the issue will be found $$$. Very nice and professional service consultants however. read more

I had a very bad experience at this VW. I was told that my car had a nail in the tire and I would need a new tire for 200 dollars. I told them I was going to try and take it to get patched elsewhere and they repeatedly told me it was a very big bad nail and would most likely not be able to be patched elsewhere. I continued to say I did not want to spend the money, I then took my car to a service shop next to my work and they looked at my tire and found nothing! When I called VW back they said oh maybe it was not a nail and I told them they told me it was a nail at least 10 times. Seemed to be a lot of lying going on. After speaking with management they gave me some money only after I told them so many times how upsetting this was. I will be taking my services elsewhere. read more

Sorry Quirk, it has come to this. A one star review, after being a loyal patron for 10 months. I am totally disgusted and disappointed with Quirk. I hate to write such a scathing review but I have not experienced anything redeeming in the last 10 months. In fact, it's been a steady decline of poor service, terrible communication, and the horrible feeling of being taken advantage of. Repairs and maintenance in the car industry is customer service based, always but especially in this economy. Quirk has no customer service orientation and I have never felt cared for there. Every time I have brought my car in I have a received a phone call 2 hours later saying there was something big that was broken and needed to be fixed immediately. Not knowing anything about cars and blindly trusting a repair shop (my own errors I suppose) I went through with the pricey repairs the first two times. This time I brought my car in for my 10K mile service and new headlight and said I'd be picking the car back up on Sunday. Two hours later I was called and told I needed a new water pump and new shocks and struts. Whether this was true OR essential, I was led to believe both, to the tune of $1K. I called them back and said no thank you to both. After saying I was not interested and could not afford either, I was told the shocks and struts could definitely wait. When I said no again, I was immediately ushered off the phone without courtesy. I was told I'd be called when my car was ready. By Sunday (Easter) no call had come and they were closed. I had to rearrange my schedule to pick the car up on Monday AM. I was greeted with scowling faces at the dealership and had to stand around waiting while three staffers sat there staring at the wall. My car was brought to the exit area and immediately I noticed my headlight was not replaced. I was furious. I don't know why I expect so much. Maybe I'm a fool. But I won't be taking my car back here. Anyone know of a non-scumbag mechanic? read more
