I tend not to judge restaurants with outdated decor or scuffed walls but I want to feel like I the tables and chairs are clean. I didn't feel like our table was clean and the spoons for use in the middle of the table were sticky and stick together. The spring rolls and pho we got didn't live up to the hype I have heard for years. The staff was nice but you needed to flag someone down for help or even walk to the front when you needed something. The restaurant's pho is a perfect example: the broth is simmered for hours, yielding a rich, savory base that bursts with layers of flavor, complemented by fresh herbs, crisp bean sprouts, and tender slices of beef. As is done in Vietnamese cooking, the meat is served raw so that it can cook in the steamed broth that is served... I would disregard any negativity about this in other reviews because that is literally how Vietnamese food is eaten and a hater is just ignorant of our culture. My family is Vietnamese, and we enjoy coming here for authentic and traditional Vietnamese cuisine. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions about the menu. Clean, comfortable dining space with a relaxed atmosphere. While there isn't any outdoor seating, the spacious indoor dining area more than makes up for it. Overall, LA Squared is a great spot for authentic Vietnamese food in the Harrisburg area. We were freezing from sitting outside for a football match, so we needed warming! We started with a delicious pork spring roll appetizer, which two fat rolls were enough for four people. We each then had pho - me the house special with steak, brisket, meatball, tripe and tendon; and B with brisket and rib eye. The broth was delicious, and the meats and toppings were fresh. Service was quiet but efficient. The meal cost less than $40, which I found extraordinary! There is also a wide variety of Vietnamese dishes other than pho. Recommend you give this place a try!
