I'm extremely pleased with the quick diagnostics, level of service, and cost for plumbing repairs from R A Dobson. My basement was flooding even though we had not had rain for over a week. The plumber I normally use was booked for 2 weeks. Just the thought of looking for a new plumber based on reviews alone was scary. I contacted three different plumbing services with highest ratings. R A Dobson was the first to reply back. I was pleasantly surprised to learn about their billing methods. They don't charge a flat fee to show up. Their company homepage had a coupon for free diagnostics. And they promise to provide a quote for fixing the issues they've identified regardless of how long it takes. My old plumbing company charged me $150 just to show up, plus an hourly fee for TWO separate individuals even though many jobs only required one person. Within 2 days of my call, Evan from R A Dobson arrived. He identified the cause of my basement leak in less than 10 minutes. It took him about 3-4 hours to do the repairs. The total cost was hundreds of dollars less than what my old plumbing company would have charged me. I'm actually glad my old plumber was booked up since it led me to R A Dobson. All Service Technicians at RA Dobson are highly trained and professional. They are reliable, and honest in their assessment of the problem whether it's the HVAC (we have Service Agreement) or Plumbing. And, they never try to up-sell; sell equipment or add-ons that are not needed. Their quality of work is excellent. We recently had an issue where we were using more water than we typically use. Loudoun Water determined the leak was coming from the Water Heater. The RA Dobson plumber came the same day we called. He discovered it was a faulty expansion valve. Given the age of the Water Heater, we were prepared to replace it and, the Technical could have easily sold us a new one. But, he said the WH was fine and only needed a new valve. We got an estimate and are replacing the valve. I had a question on the estimate and spoke to Travis Dobson. He took the time to explain it in detail. I appreciated his honesty and fairness. My husband installed a generator NOT PURCHASED OR INSTALLED by R.A. Dobson that stopped working in March. Zach/R.A. Dobson spent several hours, in the heat, troubleshooting. After multiple attempts-and another visit .....I called the operation off. I made a decision to get rid of this generator and install a battery back-up sump pump. Not only was the sump pump installed but they removed the generator and I was never charged for any of the parts they installed as the generator did not work. R.A. Dobson has installed the air conditioning unit, furnace, and Evan, Doug, and Herson will install a new water heater next week in my home. Over the years, we have been able to contact them for our plumbing, heating, and air conditioning needs and they arrive on time, they are professional, and take the time to go over the maintenance agreements. We replaced our HVAC sysytems a number of years ago via RA Dobson and have been very pleased with their support via a continuing service agreement. Our service tech, Sam, is very professional and courteous and we have enjoyed our interactions with him over the years. During our most recent service we addressed with him noise originating from our water heater which had been replaced just over six years ago. Based on his recommendation we arranged for one of RADobson's plumbers, Evan Jeffords, to replace the main water pressure intake valve for the house and to review with Evan various options for the water heater. Evan replaced the expansion tank as needed and expertly drained the water heater including utilizing an electronic tool to remove sediment from the tank. We have been pleased with Evan's work. Travis Dobson took over running the company recently and from what I can tell has been doing an excellent job. RA Dobson staffs incredibly experienced and competent people at every level of the business, and they will take very good care of you. My job required special ordering of an older style of condo air unit, and they were able to source, install, and fully service the entire thing. R. A. Dobson is a life saver! I wish I had known about them years ago. Last night my hot water heater busted and I was worried that I could not get it fixed for days. I got in touch with the business owner late in the evening (11pm) and he said he would have a technician out first thing in the morning. Around 7:30am I got a call from the office manager who said there would be a tech out before 9am. The tech showed up at 8:30am and was really nice and extremely knowledgeable. The job was done within the timeframe they said and the price was exactly what I was quoted. I have never had an experience with a plumbing company or any type home repair contractor like this in the past. From the initial phone call where the man answering the phone is helpful and engaging and quick to schedule a service appointment. Most recently we needed the motor replaced in our furnace in the attic. Sam was our technician that helped us. I highly recommend considering R A Dobson if you need to replace your gas furnace. We recently had our furnace serviced for the winter and discovered it needed to be replaced because the heat exchanger was leaking carbon monoxide. Travis Dobson gave us a very fair price as well as a military discount. His reps. Adrian, Carlos, and Doug arrived on time and worked the entire day adjusting pipes and AC unit to accommodate our new furnace. They worked carefully putting down tarps to protect our newly installed carpet. Cleanup was done so well you wouldn't know they were even in the room to install a furnace. Last week during an unusually cold spell here in the Shenandoah Valley, my heating system began shutting off sporadically. Not a good situation when the temperatures were so extremely low...0* to -10*. I called my son in Ashburn for advice. He called Travis, his HVAC contact. Travis sent Sim out to my house within minutes. Sim arrived in an hour, quickly found the problem, and fixed it. He explained the problem thoroughly and advised me about a service call in the spring. When our old water heater sprung a leak, the amount of water it was leaking required us to get it replaced quickly. Unlike their competition, R A Dobson took the time to answer all of our questions thoroughly and despite calling them late in the day, they were able to install a new tank the following morning. I had a home air conditioner replaced yesterday (May 8, 2013). The fellow who did the work - his name is Edouin (sp?). He did a fine job. He was very careful about covering the entire area through which he would be traveling/working in our house. The work was completed on the schedule that was given us and our home was left as clean as when he arrived. We have been with Dobson for many years and have been well satisfied. I've used Dobson for over 10 years and have always been happy with their service. The technicians have always been prompt, polite, expedient, and explain everything in a knowledgable and honest way. I recently had an issue with one of my ac units where it wasn't cooling effectively. The tech gave my his 'best guess', then went to check out the system. He came back in with pictures to show me what he found (his guess was accurate!), and gave me 2-3 options on how to proceed. The employees installers were happy polite and explained the work process in detail completely. The pricing for the job was much less than I expected. They could not have been any more polite than they were. The job was so clean I had to look at the finished product to make sure they completed it.
